Je prévois de partir faire un séjour linguistique de 3 mois, avec un mois d'école (soit avec ESL, Boalingua ou Study Global.. ou autre chose à proposer? )
Mon "problème" est que je n'arrive pas à me décider.. J'ai déjà vu New York durant 3 jours l'été passé. C'est une ville extraordinaire, je suis sûre que je m'y plairais... mais pour 3 mois, est ce pas trop long ? Surtout à cette période.. En fait j'ai envisager deux possibilités.
La première : Séjour d'un mois à Los Angeles (Santa Monica plus précisement) avec cours et hébérgement chez l'habitant ou en résidence étuidiant, ensuite 2 mois à New York dans une maison d'étudiant (soit à Manatthan vers la Little Italy, soit à Brooklyn vers un joli petit parc/ quel endroit choisiriez-vous ? ) pour découvrir la vie New yorkaise pendant deux mois et pratiquer mon anglais...
La deuxième : Faire les 3 mois complets à NY où à Los Angeles
J'hésite car si durant le premier mois en Californie je fais des connaissances et qu'après je dois partir et re rencontrer d'autres personnes à NY..
Et aussi est ce que New York n'est pas un peu mort en Octobre, novembre ? Ou Los Angeles... Je ne suis jamais allée à LA alors je n'arrive pas savoir si cela me plaira, le style de vie, le cout de la vie...
Enfin voilà ce n'est pas vraiment une question, mais si vous étiez à ma place vous feriez quoi ?

L"Amercian way of life" est impressionnant, énigmatique et choquant - mais il n'est jamais ennuyeux.
New York est une ville dense, Manhattan est facile d'accès, les transports en commun plutôt pas mal, et pour profiter de tes loisirs dans les trois mois, les alentours sont très attractifs et pas très loin. Boston est une belle ville, chargée d'histoire et de traditions, la Nouvelle Angleterre à l'automne et l'été indien est une tuerie. Et au Sud, Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphie sont accessibles.
Bon, certes L.A. c'est la mer, le soleil, Hollywood, mais la ville est tentaculaire, c'est quelque part le royaume de la voiture et les alentours touristiquement parlant nécessitent dans l'idéal de se déplacer avec un véhicule perso. Alors que le Nord Est est à mon sens faisable en transports en commun.
Par ailleurs New York n'est jamais "morte", et octobre est encore une période clémente au niveau de temps, certes, l'hiver s'installe solidement ensuite, mais j'imagine que cela n'effraie pas une helvète.
Enfin bref, si l'option "faire les deux" ne te séduit pas (c'est celle que je préfèrerais), quitte à choisir, je prend New York (et à Brooklyn pour le calme, maintenant Little Italy, c'est pas loin de Greenwitch, coté ambiance, y'a pas photo).
Mais je suis de parti pris, je n'aime pas trop L.A., tu m'aurais dit San Francisco ...

Je connais les 2 villes et sans hesiter je te dirai New York, car L.A n'a rien de bien interessant mis à part le climat par rapport à N.Y.
Tu as vite fais le tour de Santa Monica et tu risques de t'y ennuyer sauf evidemment si tu fais de bonnes rencontres, ça c'est comme partout ailleurs cela dépend beaucoup de ton environnement.
Puisque tu as l'occasion de faire les 2 villes fais le, de toute façon si tu te fais des amis à L.A il faudra bien que tu les quittent pour rentrer en France donc le probleme n'est pas là, peut être qu'à N.Y tu t'en fera d'autres plus sympas donc il ne faut pas voir cette optique là et vas-y.

Alors, aller en Californie sans passer par San Francisco, c'est carrément impensable😮.
C'est une ville superbe, où l'on se sent bien tout de suite. En tant qu'européen, on peut être perturbé par le gigantisme de LA par exemple, mais SF c'est le pied, une ville très agréable, vivante, pleine d'attrait et à échelle "humaine".
Un bémol certes, un climat assez humide, le brouillard très impressionnant et donc plus "frisquette" que LA.
Non, franchement, ne loupe pas cette ville. Et alors le bonus XXL, c'est de pouvoir faire LA / SF par la route côtière n°1, à partir de Morrow Bay jusqu'à Carmel / Monterrey, c'est une tuerie cette route, des paysages magnifique.
Mais... en voiture seulement, cette route est si étroite et sinueuse que les gros gabaris routiers sont proscrits.
Salut, ma soeur a passé un an à New York et je peux t'assurer qu'elle ne s'est pas ennuyée. Elle est allée passer des we à Boston, Washington... et du coup elle a fait un bon tour de la côte est des Etats Unis. Elle est passé par l'organisme qui s'appelle EF Education. C'est vrai que si tu as les moyens de faire des vols internes aux USA, c'est sympa d'en voir un max ! ;)

If anyone knows the rates charged by movers for a crate to French Polynesia, or what pitfalls to avoid (I know you can get quotes directly from movers, but I’d love insights from actual customers😉).
