Idea for a 15-day itinerary in Cambodia... - 3 nights in Phnom Penh, arriving at 6:30 PM. (2 days to explore the city). - 2 nights in Battambang - 4 or 5 nights in Siem Reap (2 days for Angkor, 1 day for Kulen, 1 day for Tonlé Sap Lake) - 2 nights in Kampot - 2 nights on Koh Rong. What do you think? Thanks... Alain.

Hi Alain,

That sounds good to me—it’s the classic route most French tourists take. You’ll see plenty over these five stops! 😏

For transportation, you could consider taking a boat from Battambang to Siem Reap. You’ll pass through stilt villages and floating villages, which could replace the planned day on the Tonlé Sap. Just be aware that it depends on the water levels, so it varies by season. The Siem Reap to Kampot route can be done by overnight sleeper bus, which saves you a full day of travel and a night’s hotel cost. The road between Kampot and Sihanoukville (the port for Koh Rong) is pretty rough, so taking the train might be a nice alternative. However, it only stops in Kampot late morning, so you might prefer to leave earlier.

Have a great trip! !

Hi there, You’re missing two key details: - The time of year for your trip (to know if the Battambang–Siem Reap boat trip—a highly recommended experience—is a good idea) - How and from where you’ll leave the country at the end.

Kampot deserves an extra night. It’s a charming, laid-back little town with a pleasant old-world vibe, and you could spend one day exploring the surrounding area by tuk-tuk and another biking or scootering around the Fish Island peninsula for a taste of "real" rural Cambodia.

After Koh Rong, won’t you need a transit night somewhere to leave the country?

Overall, your itinerary feels a little rushed. To slow things down, I’d skip Koh Rong and remove one stop.

Can you tell me if Giant Ibis is reliable and whether it's better to book in advance or on the spot? Any company you’d recommend and a price range for the boat connection between Battambang and Siem Reap? Thanks
