Je suis sur le point de partir au Québec pour effectuer un stage grâce à mon université, à Québec même (je fais un échange avec le Cegep de Levis-Lauzon, si j'ai bien compris Levis et Lauzon sont des petites agglomération autour de Québec). Et plusieurs questions me viennent à l'esprit.
Premièrement au niveau télécommunication j'ai plusieurs interrogation. Je suis utilisateur de smartphone (j'abuse donc de l'internet mobile), je suis sur le point de résilier mon forfait chez Orange (en profitant de la hausse de la TVA en France) ce qui me permettrait d'avoir mon mobile au Quebec sans forfait français. Je me demande donc si il existe des forfaits sans engagements (je ne pars que pour 3 mois), permettant un usage internet (je doute qu'une tel chose existe mais cela ne coûte rien de demander) et dans le cas contraire, quelle serai selon vous la meilleurs solution pour pouvoir passer des appels vocaux et envoyer des SMS vers des gens à l'intérieur du Canada (le relais avec la France se fera via Skype) sans s'engager auprès d'un opérateur pour 3 ans ?
D'autres questions concernant l'usage de mon argent à l'étranger. Je pars avec des ressources mais j'ai constaté que les commissions sur les achats avec CB était assez énorme ce qui me fais plutôt peur. Cela dit je me vois très mal partir avec la totalité de mon budget en liquide aussi. Alors on m'a parlé des Traveler's Check mais je ne sais pas très bien comment cela fonctionne. De ce que j'ai compris ce sont des chèques avec un montant fixé dès le dépars, les commerçant les acceptent ou je suis censé les échanger dans une banque contre de l'argent en liquide ? Dans quel banque est ce que je pourrais faire ça ? J'ai vérifié et ma banque peut me fournir ce genre de chèques mais j'attend d'en savoir plus sur leur fonctionnement avant de me lancer.
Autre question, je prévois d'acheter du matériel électronique une fois sur place. En l'occurrence nous prévoyons d'aller aux États-Unis et je compte en profiter pour m'acheter un iPad. Cela pose-t-il des problèmes de douanes entre les USA et le Canada ou encore entre le Canada et la France ? Je compte en acheter qu'un, pour mon usage personnel je suppose que ça devrai aller mais je préfère me renseigner de ce côté là avant de partir une fois encore.

d'après votre profil vous avez 20ans. au CMB (je pense que c'est valable pour toutes le filières régionales du CM) pour les moins de 26 ans, la gold mastercard permet de retirer de l'argent dans n'importe quelle banque du monde et de payer par carte n'importe où dans le monde sans frais !!!!!! de plus on peut prendre cette carte uniquement pendant les mois à l'étranger et la rendre lors de son retour (ce qui évite d'avoir à la payer pour les mois où son utilité serait moindre).
autre solution : la BNP a un accord avec une banque canadienne (je ne me souviens plus du nom), et permet ainsi de retirer de l'argent sans frais dans cette banque.
pour les autres questions, désolée je n'ai pas les réponses !
Pour ce qui est du paiement par CB, effectivement les frais bancaires sont élevés à CHAQUE opération aussi il te faut faire un retrait important en espèces dans les DAB pour payer en cash. Les travellers chèques sont acceptés chez les commercants sur présentation de ton passeport.
Pour les achats aux Etats, il n'est pas sur que ce soit moins dispendieux qu'ici au Québec, si tu comptes les frais de transport, d'hébergement etc.....
Attention ici c'est du 110 V prise plate. Pour la douane française, il y a une somme maximale d'achats à respecter, voir le site des douanes.

les prix sont plus élevés au Canada pour ce genre d'article; par contre il faut voir au niveau de la garantie.
Si tu as un pépin tu seras obligé de repasser la frontière pour le faire réparer.
Attention tu peux ramener au Canada des articles dans la limite de 750 dollars ( je crois ) si tu as passé 7jours hors du Canada.

Quant aux "nouvelles technologies", tu vas très vite t'apercevoir que le Québec est très, très en retard.

Cela ne pose pas de problème mais il faudra payer les droits et taxes. Il faut regarder les franchises accordées pour l'importation d'achats de l'étranger (400$ de franchise pour une absence de 48 heures, 750$ pour une absence de 7 jours). Le prix des iPad n'est que légèrement plus bas aux États-Unis (549$ pour le 16 GB contre 499$, 649$ pour le 32 GB contre 599$, source: Bestbuy.ca et Bestbuy.com) on ne parle que d'une différence de 50$ donc pas la peine de te déplacer pour aller l'acheter ailleurs qu'au Canada.
Pour la douane française au retour, il faudrait vérifier sur leur site internet.
