Je songe sérieusement à venir vivre à Pondichéry pour au minimum un an. Pour le moment ce n'est pas encore très précis quand à ce que j'y ferais. J'ai un peu de sous de coté, je pourrais investir, peut-être dans le tourisme, je ne sais pas encore, je suis assez ouvert et je préfèrerait être déjà sur place. J'ai déjà fait plusieurs séjours dans cette ville.
Ce que je voudrais savoir, c'est que compte tenu des nouvelles dispositions pour les visas, avez vous des conseils, des témoignages quand au visa à choisir ? Est-ce vraiment difficile ?
Je suis également demandeur de tous les avis et toutes les expériences de gens qui vivent, ont vécu, investit en Inde et particulièrement dans cette région.
Et enfin dernière question, est-il possible d'amener son chien ? :-)

Attention: dans le tourisme la concurence est rude et il y a des "chasses gardées" à Pondichéry.
Les arnaqueurs indiens sont à l'affut des investisseurs ignorants des choses et des langues de l'Inde, pour les plumer dès les premiers mois de leur tentative d'installation. Ils sont très doués à ce jeu là.
Quand on veut s'établir dans ce pays, il faut commencer à travailler comme employé pour se faire connaître et s'adapter à la mentalité. Après quelques années, quand on s'est fait une réputation, on peut éventuellement songer à fonder sa boite.
Je ne fais qu'énoncer des généralités que tout le monde connait là-bas. Je ne saurais entrer dans les détails.

En revanche tu dois te douter qu'il semble impossible d'obtenir un visa pour travailler ici comme employé ! A moins que j'ai raté quelque chose ? Car cela serait évidement la solution la plus simple, mais je pense que cela relève de l'impossible. Si je me trompe, n'hésite pas à m'en faire part.
Ce que je pense faire serait plutôt de venir m'installer à Pondi et prendre le temps, peut-être quelque mois pour voir comme fonctionne la vie et décider ensuite de ce que je veux faire. J'ai déjà travailler à Madagascar, en République Dominicaine et au Costa Rica et je peux t'assurer qu'il y a là bas des loups aussi féroces qu'en Inde pour les étrangers désireux d'investir...

Je suis aussi toujours preneur d'infos sur les possibilités de visa car j'ai du mal à avoir des réponses à mes questions.
Pour avoir un visa de travail, il faut trouver un employeur. Ensuite celui-ci te fait une lettre que tu montres aux autorités consulaires indiennes afin d'obtenir ton visa de travail.
Un grand nombre d'employeurs recrutent souvent des gens seulement pourvus du visa touriste et les font travailler au noir. Certains régularisent la situation de leurs employés après un certain temps, s'ils sont satisfaits de ces derniers.
Avec le nouveau règlement sur les visas touristiques non renouvelables immédiatement, je ne sais pas ce que le travail au noir va devenir pour les Occidentaux expatriés.
Pour louer une maison dans le centre historique c'est cher. Quant aux maisons anciennes, françaises ou tamoules, je ne crois pas qu'il y en ait des masses à louer.
De plus, on demandera toujours à un Blanc de payer plus cher qu'un Indien. Souvent, il faut être introduit par une personne en qui le propriétaire a confiance. Enfin, il faut verser 6 mois de caution.
Quand on débarque à Pondy pour tâter la température, on commence plutôt par vivre dans une guesthouse.
La voiture ou le scooter seraient dangereux de toute façon, étant donné la façon très "rock'n roll" de conduire des Indiens. Tu fais bien d'y renoncer. Si tu as les moyens de louer une maison dès le début, alors tu devrais aussi pouvoir te payer un transport en autorickshaw.

J'habite Chennai et il est tout-à-fait possible de prendre son chien. Il faut au préalable faire tous les examens nécessaires pour son entrée sur le territoire indien et TRES IMPORTANT : avoir une autorisation donnée par l'officier de la quarantaire.
J'avais fait venir ma chienne et j'avais un peu galéré au début.
En ce qui concerne le visa, mieux vaut opter pour un visa touriste dans un premier temps.

J'ai pris des infos sur la possibilité d'ouvrir un petit bed and breakfast, j'ai même visité une grande maison à louer qui m'a beaucoup plut, le proprio ne semble avoir aucuns soucis avec le fait que je veuille louer deux ou trois chambres, je pense surtout à ce genre d'activité pour rentabiliser (plus ou moins !) la location de la maison mais pas comme activité principale. Avec un visa touriste, tu t'engages à ne faire que du tourisme ! Pour lancer quelque chose, investir il faut un business visa ET de bons avocats compétents ET honnêtes !
Pour ton chien, franchement, ici, c'est hécatombe, la palvovirose, j'ai perdu un petit chein indien adorable en 2 jours ... Mais si ton chien est bien vacciné, pourquoi pas !
Investir en Inde, c'est un véritable parcours du combattant, et même si on fait tout dans les règles, tu peux te retrouver éjecté du jour au lendemain par un "case", un procès qui te tombe dessus (suite à des lettres de dénonciation, de calomnies, jalousies, convoitise ...), si tu as de solides relations haut placées, tu peux t'en sortir, sinon ...
Malgré cela, des expèriences aboutissent, mais il faut vraiment y croire, être blindé de blindé et lucide (ne pas voir les choses COMME on voudrait qu'elles soient mais comme elles sont ..)

Pafou : Je suis désormais à Pondi depuis quelques jours avec un visa Business.
Il est tout à fait impossible de modifier son visa touristique sans sortir du pays. L'Inde est un pays stricte en matière de visa. Il n'y a que quelques raisons d'extrême urgence pour rester avec un visa touristique et les procédures sont super strictes, une "prolongation" (pour raisons médicales ultra importantes par exemple) ne peut en général excéder deux semaines.
Si tu trouves un emploi ici (ce qui n'est pas hyper simple) tu dois faire une demande de Employment Visa (en France évidement) et il faut parfois prouver qu'un indien ne peut pas faire ce job à ta place, du moins il faut préparer une réponse solide si on te pose la question.
Mais va sur le site de VFS c'est très complet et de toutes façons il est obligatoire de passer par eux pour obtenir n'importe quel visa.
Même si c'est pas forcement simple, le plus important est de retenir qu'il est plus simple pour un français de venir vivre en Inde que pour un indien de venir vivre en France ! 😉

Il n'a jamais été possible à ma connaissance d'obtenir un visa en tant que français, en Inde.
Même si vous trouvez un employeur indien, il vous faut faire un dossier en France de demande de visa de travail, de préférence dans une agence où vous ne pouvez payer qu'à la réception effective du visa, car parfois le visa est refusé mais ils ne remboursent pas !! Actuellement ils ne délivrent quasiment plus de visa de travail, ils estiment que ce boulot que vous voulez faire en Inde sera enlevé à un indien .. Ou alors vous êtes un super expert très diplômé ...
Ce protectionnisme peut se comprendre quand on considère le nombre de "chomeurs" ici ...
Donc vous pouvez toujours tenter le coup, un visa de travail (dans quel domaine ?) mais franchement, c'est pas joué !

Quant aux opportunités de travail en Inde il y en a plein, les occidentaux sont très appréciés car un minimum méthodiques, éduqués, honnêtes, consciencieux, travailleurs, qualités franchement difficiles à trouver chez les indiens... Mais blocage des visas à moins que ce soit une grosse boîte et encore ..
