Nous sommes 3 femmes de 49-50 ans qui participons au Trek Rosetrip début novembre. Nous voulons prolonger notre séjour suite à nos 5 nuits en bivouac dans la région de Merzouga.
Voici ce que nous avons prévu, n'hésitez pas à commenter sur les endroits et hébergement (max 100 Euros/nuit).
Toute suggestion d'endroit pour s'arrêter luncher, serait apprécié. Nos priorités sont les paysages ("jaw dropping" comme les anglos disent) et lieux intéressants.

Route vers Tinghir (j'ai lu sur le forum que la route est plus intéressante via Alnif)
Promenade dans la palmeraie, route vers les Gorges de Todra

À prime abord on regardait pour aller +/- jusqu'au KM 25 et redescendre le lendemain matin,

Départ vers 8h - route jusqu'à Timzzilite pour faire les lacets... Est-il nécessaire d'aller plus loin sur cette route ou bien si nous aurons eu l'occasion de voir amplement de beaux paysages jusqu'à cet endroit?
Arrêt aux doigts de singe lors du retour vers Boulmane. Y a-t-il des courtes et intéressantes randos d'environ 2 heures aux doigts de singe ou ailleurs ds la région?

Actuellement nous manquons cruellement de soleil dans l'ouest atlantique. Aussi avons nous décidé de mettre le cap sur le Maroc, toujours sur l'Atlantique, au sud d'Essaouira. Atterrissage prévu à Marrakech et départ aussitôt pour Essaouira pour profiter de la mer et descendre tranquillement le long de la côte. Lézarder au soleil, traîner en terrasse prendre le temps de savourer chaque instant. Si vous avez des idées de visites intéressantes à faire et de découvertes à partager, on est preneurs. I’m currently planning our next trip to Morocco. We really enjoy visiting one or two collective granaries on each of our trips. We’ve seen some already, like the one in Aït Kine, or the one in Tasguent, and of course those in Amtoudi, as well as the cliffside granary of Ifri. There are still many left to explore. I’d love to hear which ones you’d recommend—preferably ones that aren’t too hard to access. I’m counting on you! Thanks

We’re landing in Agadir, so I assume we’ll need to take a taxi—anyone have a particular one to recommend? Also, we’d like to do a quad bike outing—any agencies you’d suggest? Thanks for your replies!

If you’ve got any experience to share about cold winter nights in the desert while camping, that’d be super helpful!

We’re planning to leave Marrakesh by rental car—this will be our second trip to Morocco. While we want to revisit some places, we also hope to explore new regions. Here’s the start of our itinerary, which could take 2 to 3 weeks. We don’t want to cover too many kilometers each day.
- Depart Marrakech for Essaouira, stopping to visit the Inzerki beehive. We’ll stay 3 nights in Essaouira to explore the city and the surrounding area. - Head toward Tamanar or that region for another 3 nights, exploring on a star-shaped route. We’d like to see the Paradise Valley and the coast. Not really keen on stopping in Agadir.
We’ve been to Tafraoute before, but I’d love to see some *greniers* (granaries) again, so we’re considering 1 or 2 nights there.

We’re planning a trip to Morocco in February 2026. We already know the country a bit, including the desert where we were lucky enough to take part in a rally.
This time, we’d like to explore the Merzouga dunes as a family. We’ll be renting a car in Marrakech and we’re looking for advice on the best stops to make the most of the drive.
We’re still undecided about the return route: should we go back through the Valley of the Roses (and maybe see the gorges if we don’t have time on the way there) or take the Draa Valley for a change?
Here’s our rough itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech in the evening – Overnight stay there
Day 2: Drive east – Overnight in Skoura? Boumalne? Further on?
Day 3: Drive with a stop at the Dadès or Todra Gorges – Overnight in Merzouga
Day 4: Desert day – Overnight in Merzouga

We found a guide who offers the trip from M'hamid to a camp (departure at 3 PM, tea, meal, camel ride, overnight stay, breakfast, and return to M'Hamid by 11 AM the next day via the sacred oasis). He quoted us a price of 380 € for April. What do you think of this rate? This might sound like a silly question, but is it common to negotiate the price for this kind of thing (we're booking from France)? It’s still a big part of our travel budget.

Je vais aller passer 10 jours pleins (hors jour d'arrivée et de départ) au Maroc en mai. Au départ de Marseille, en prenant Ryanair, qui propose des vols pas chers arrivant à Essaouira, Fes ou Agadir.
Je souhaite construire un programme, avec certains impératifs : - Passer une nuit et une journée à Casablanca (pour y voir des amis) - Me balader dans le désert (avec un chameau?) - Voir de la chouette Oasis - Voir 2 ou 3 centre villes pour le côté architecture - Avoir quelques belles balades niveaux paysages, dans l'Atlas notamment (les paysages côtiers m'intéressent moins, étant habitué)
...et ne pas faire 5h de route chaque jour - 2h de route de moyenne par jour me parait raisonnable. Je louerai une voiture.
Quel itinéraire raisonnable vous pourriez conseiller? J'ai l'impression que l'arrêt obligatoire à Casablanca perturbe pas mal les plannings des itinéraires que je vois sur internet... Merci d'avance

Hi everyone, just back from the 8-day Marrakech-Merzouga loop by car, and I’d love to share my feedback in case it helps some of you. Big thanks to all the forum members who kindly answered my questions!
Trip from Friday the 20th to Saturday the 28th, flying out of Marseille with Ryanair
- Landed late around 8 PM local time, exchanged some currency, and the rental agency (Magdaz Car, which I highly recommend) delivered the car straight to the airport with some great route tips (don’t blindly trust Maps.me). The night drive was a bit intense—lots of people out and about due to Ramadan. Stayed at Riad Midhou (really nice) on the outskirts of the city, which made it easy to hit the road the next morning.
- Day 1: Marrakech to Skoura. The drive was smooth, roads are great, but watch out for roundabout priority—it’s different from France. Beautiful route. Quick stop in Ouarzazate for lunch, Ait Benhaddou for the view (stunning), and the Fint Oasis (meh...). Spent the night at Taloute Ecolodge in Skoura, overlooking the palm grove (super cozy).
- Day 2: Skoura to Todgha Gorges via the Valley of Roses and Dades Gorges. Adventure-packed day! We crossed the Valley of Roses (pretty, but not as amazing as I’d hoped) and took a "shortcut" recommended by the *Routard* guide to reach the Dades Gorges without backtracking. After asking locals, they said, "It’s doable." Turns out it was a narrow, rocky cliffside track—no way to turn around! A stressful moment, with a nice scratch on the bumper and a good sweat. Fine in an SUV or 4x4, but not in a Logan... Then the Dades Gorges (nice) and a detour through the north to reach Todgha from above. Gorgeous mountain road and a quick stop on some snow patches—touching African snow! Spent the night at *Les Gorges de Todgha*—great place, except for the bathroom. The Todgha Gorges themselves are stunning!
Day 3: Todgha to Merzouga. Beautiful drive, and the view of the erg (sand dunes) on arrival is breathtaking! Totally worth the trip. Explored the desert and stayed at *Café du Sud* hotel just outside Merzouga—absolutely gorgeous.
Day 4: Merzouga. Desert exploration and chilling by the hotel pool (with a bonus sunburn). Lunch in Merzouga—I recommend *Dakar*—their lemon tajine was amazing. Spent the night in the hotel’s luxury camp, including a camel ride. The camp was beautiful, but I was disappointed we weren’t deeper in the desert given the price (100 € per person, including dinner, breakfast, and camel ride).
Day 5: Merzouga to Tamnougalt. Gorgeous route. First fine (a supposed stop sign...) but the officer was super nice—only 150 MAD. Stayed at *Kasbah Maktob*, right in the middle of ruins—really unique and beautiful!
Day 6: Tamnougalt to Marrakech. Another beautiful drive, and a second fine (minor speeding), same amount. Crossed a windy mountain pass during a big storm—traffic was blocked in the opposite direction (not sure why), causing massive jams for those coming from Marrakech. A few downed cables, but nothing serious. Arriving in Marrakech was tricky—hard to find the rental agency, and the traffic was intense (watch out for GPS trying to send you through the medina). Ask the rental company to meet you somewhere quiet. They didn’t even notice the damaged bumper... Stayed at *Riad Zifamo* in the heart of the medina. Big change of pace—so many people and so much hustle!
Day 7: Marrakech. Lots of wandering through the souk and a quick trip to Gueliz (not essential). A few tips for the medina: watch out for scooters weaving too fast, always negotiate prices (aim for at least 1/3 off what they ask, unless it’s a small amount), don’t buy spices—more expensive than in France! Head to the *Carrefour Market* in Gueliz for better prices. In the end, not many truly unique items—you’ll find more or less the same things everywhere.
Day 8: Early morning flight. We’d booked a car to the airport from the riad, but a taxi would’ve been fine—plenty available even at 7 AM. Security wasn’t an issue (we had lighters and liquids over 100 ml).
A few extra notes: Pleasantly surprised by the road quality—just a few potholes here and there, but overall very drivable. Watch out for the police—they’re everywhere! The car cost me 30 € per day (with the *Routard* discount) and about 90 € in gas. No safety concerns, no harassment, and no stomach issues, despite the ice in Marrakech. Breakfasts at the hotels were usually hearty—take advantage! The timing (end of February) was perfect—pleasant daytime temps and cool nights. Since it was Ramadan, nothing unusual to report, except it was hard to find food outside Marrakech at lunchtime. If I did it again, Merzouga is a must, but I’d spend a night in a real desert bivouac, deeper in the dunes. My stops (no more than 300 km a day) were well-paced, and with so few cars on the road, it wasn’t tiring—even though I’m not usually a fan of driving... Happy to answer any questions!

A few downed cables, but nothing serious. Arriving in Marrakech was tricky—hard to find the rental agency, and the traffic was intense (watch out for GPS trying to send you through the medina). Ask the rental company to meet you somewhere quiet. They didn’t even notice the damaged bumper... Stayed at *Riad Zifamo* in the heart of the medina. Big change of pace—so many people and so much hustle!
Day 7: Marrakech. Lots of wandering through the souk and a quick trip to Gueliz (not essential). A few tips for the medina: watch out for scooters weaving too fast, always negotiate prices (aim for at least 1/3 off what they ask, unless it’s a small amount), don’t buy spices—more expensive than in France! Head to the *Carrefour Market* in Gueliz for better prices. In the end, not many truly unique items—you’ll find more or less the same things everywhere.
Day 8: Early morning flight. We’d booked a car to the airport from the riad, but a taxi would’ve been fine—plenty available even at 7 AM. Security wasn’t an issue (we had lighters and liquids over 100 ml).
A few extra notes: Pleasantly surprised by the road quality—just a few potholes here and there, but overall very drivable. Watch out for the police—they’re everywhere! The car cost me 30 € per day (with the *Routard* discount) and about 90 € in gas. No safety concerns, no harassment, and no stomach issues, despite the ice in Marrakech. Breakfasts at the hotels were usually hearty—take advantage! The timing (end of February) was perfect—pleasant daytime temps and cool nights. Since it was Ramadan, nothing unusual to report, except it was hard to find food outside Marrakech at lunchtime. If I did it again, Merzouga is a must, but I’d spend a night in a real desert bivouac, deeper in the dunes. My stops (no more than 300 km a day) were well-paced, and with so few cars on the road, it wasn’t tiring—even though I’m not usually a fan of driving... Happy to answer any questions!

February 14th: Full day and evening in Marrakech.
February 15th: Drive via Teoulet to Aït Ben Haddou (~3.5 hours), visit the site. In the mid-afternoon, drive (~45 minutes) to Ouarzazate. Spend the rest of the day and night in Ouarzazate.
February 16th: Morning in Ouarzazate, then drive (~3 hours) to Foum Zguid. Night in Foum Zguid.
February 17th: Early departure (~2-hour drive) from Foum Zguid to Erg Chegaga with a guide. Desert experience and bivouac. Night in Erg Chegaga.
February 18th: Sunrise at Erg Chegaga, return to Foum Zguid where the car will be parked. Drive to an intermediate stop. We’re not sure what to do at this point—any recommendations? Is there a better option than heading back to Ouarzazate? Night at this intermediate stop.

February 20th: Early transfer for a 7 AM flight.

Nous partons bientôt pour le Maroc avec mon compagnon, et nous cherchons quelques bonnes adresses d'auberges à Merzouga (ou autour, si c'est mieux ?) proposant aussi des excursions/bivouac dans l'erg Chebbi. Nous allons voyager en bus, donc nous préférons ne pas réserver à l'avance, mais juste avoir quelques noms d'auberges en tête avant notre arrivée vers Merzouga.
Dans l'idéal, nous souhaiterions une auberge pas trop chère et plutôt familiale, qui propose une sortie en bivouac la plus "authentique" possible... (avec un bon guide, peu de monde, un peu éloigné des autres bivouacs, des dromadaires bien traités, etc) En parcourant le forum, j'ai pu lire que certains avaient été déçus par le côté "usine" de Merzouga, et aussi du fait que leur bivouac était souvent situé tout près du village, contrairement à ce qui leur avait été promis... Alors, si vous avez des bonnes adresses à nous conseiller, on est preneurs :)

Je souhaite partir en voyage en Aout 2020 pour une durée de 3 semaines incha'Allah (moi ma femme et ma petite fille d'1 an). J'ai bcp hésité pour choisir le cirucit à effectuer (vu le boom des vacanciers en mois d'aout, mais je n'ai pas le choix !), et après concertation, j'ai opté pour un circuit en deux parties :
- Circuit 1 (Atlantic) : Casa-Essaouira (3jr : pour explorer la région aussi)-Tiznit (2 à 3 jrs : avec un passage Merfleft/Legzira/Sidi Ifni, soit 6 jrs en total.
- Circuit 2 (Atlas) : Tinzit-Taliouine (1jr)-Ouled Berhil (1jr)-Taroudant - Marrakech, ou aller directement à Marrakech (3 à 5 jrs), soit 7jrs en total.
Mes question pour vous chers voyageurs s :) :
- D'abord vos avis concernant ces deux circuits (choix des villes, durée, période etc) ? - Pour l'Atlas en mois d'aout : est ce que la chaleur est supportable (Surtt avec un bébé d'1 an) ? - Pour le 2ème circuit : est ce que ça vaut la peine le passage par Taroudant ou je prend directment la route vers Marrakech (ouled berhil/marrakech) ? - Dernière question : pour aller à Marrakech, j'hésite entre la route nationale + autorute ou passer par le col Tiz'N'Test (ma femme préfére l'autoroute pour la sécurité, bébé etc, moi je préfére le Tiz'N'Test avec même un nuité dans l'hotel la belle vue). laquelle pour vous est la plus interéssente ? A noter que je compte voayager avec ma voiture personnelle (Ford Fiesta).

Hi everyone, I’ve given my 18-year-old daughter a week in Morocco in February. I’d like to mix a bit of Marrakech (or elsewhere) with a hotel and pool, plus a trip into the desert with some beautiful dunes.
How can I structure this without making the journeys too long? Is it possible to do Marrakech to the south in 2 days, stopping at lovely spots along the way? Just to clarify, I’d prefer not to rent a car, and my daughter isn’t very "adventurous."

1 - Given my late arrival, is it better to stay overnight in Agadir for the first night? If so, do you have any hotel recommendations, and is transportation easy to arrange at that hour?
2 - Do you have any trusted rental car companies to recommend in Agadir?
3 - For 7 days, here’s the route I’ve planned: Agadir → Taroudant → Taliouine → Tafraoute → Tiznit → Agadir. Does this route seem good (not too short, not too long, any spots worth adding?), considering I enjoy driving?
4 - Should I book my accommodations in advance?

Mon compagnon et moi partons bientôt pour deux semaines au Maroc, en février 2020. Nous sommes en train de planifier notre voyage, et nous nous posons plusieurs questions concernant notre itinéraire et les transports sur place... En effet, nous aimerions nous déplacer uniquement en transports en commun (bus/train), plutôt que de louer un véhicule. Mais nous ne sommes pas sûrs que cela soit possible partout, même si le réseau de bus à l'air plutôt bien développé. Nous avons aussi un doute sur le nombre d'endroits que nous avons prévu de voir. Aurons-nous le temps de tout voir en 15 jours ? Car les distances ont l'air immenses surtout dans le sud...
Voici notre "itinéraire idéal" mais il n'est pas définitif, car nous sommes conscients qu'il faudra faire des choix et certainement supprimer certains lieux sélectionnés... Nous sommes preneurs de tous bons conseils !! (certains lieux non accessibles en transports ? trop de lieux prévus au programme ? quels lieux garder/supprimer ?!...etc)

5) retour à Fès depuis Merzouga (ou Rissani?)
-Mon compagnon est certain que l'on ne pourra pas tout voir en 15 jours, et suggère d'enlever la zone sud (entre Marrakech et Tafraoute/tiznit) pour passer plus du temps du côté de Ouarzate et de Merzouga. Sachant que nous souhaiterions être le plus dépaysé possible, et privilégier les paysages qui ressemblent le plus à l'Ouest Américain..! Qu'en pensez-vous ? -Enfin, le sens de notre circuit est-il cohérent ? Ou faut-il mieux faire en sens inverse ? (par ex : Fès - Merzouga - Ouarzazate - (Tafraoute) - Marrakech - puis retour à Fès)

Mon compagnon et moi partons bientôt pour deux semaines au Maroc, en février 2020. Nous sommes en train de planifier notre voyage, et nous nous posons plusieurs questions concernant notre itinéraire et les transports sur place... En effet, nous aimerions nous déplacer uniquement en transports en commun (bus/train), plutôt que de louer un véhicule. Mais nous ne sommes pas sûrs que cela soit possible partout, même si le réseau de bus à l'air plutôt bien développé. Nous avons aussi un doute sur le nombre d'endroits que nous avons prévu de voir. Aurons-nous le temps de tout voir en 15 jours ? Car les distances ont l'air immenses surtout dans le sud...
Voici notre "itinéraire idéal" mais il n'est pas définitif, car nous sommes conscients qu'il faudra faire des choix et certainement supprimer certains lieux sélectionnés... Nous sommes preneurs de tous bons conseils !! (certains lieux non accessibles en transports ? trop de lieux prévus au programme ? quels lieux garder/supprimer ?!...etc)
1) "Zone nord (nord et Moyen-Atlas): Fès - Chefchaouen - Meknès
2) "Zone centre" (Haut Atlas): Marrakech
3) "Zone sud" (Anti Atlas) :La Route tizi-n-test de Marrakech à Taroudannt (route apparemment magnifique, mais est-elle accessible en bus?) / Tafraoute et les Gorges d'Aït Mansour / Tiznit (rocher rouge 'chapeau de Napoléon' et 'rochers bleus d'Aoumerkt')

Nous venons de retenir l'avion pour partir cet été au Maroc en famille (2 adultes et 2 ados) (arrivée Marrakech et départ Agadir). Je suis en train d'essayer de faire un planning sur 3 semaines. Oui je sais, le sud marocain est très chaud en été, mais nous sommes habitués de voyager sous la chaleur l'été. Je ne connais pas la région. Que me conseillez vous à voir et à faire sachant que nous louerons une voiture à Marrakech?

J'ai quelques questions : - Combien de jours à Skoura?
- Est ce que pour visiter la vallée du Dades, il est bien de dormir à Bou Thara? Combien de jours?
- Est ce que la route entre Tinghir et M'Hamid (pour voir le désert) est "roulable" et pas trop difficile? Il s'agit de 330kms, est ce faisable en 1 journée?
- Mêmes questions entre M'Hamid et Tata (voir Tafraoute mais je pense route trop longue)? Que voir ver Tata?
- des hébergements à me conseiller?

J'ai la carte touristique au 1:800 000 et je ne trouve pas toutes les routes ou lieux cités. Y a t-il une carte spécifique pour le sud ? Nous partons 6 amis et nous allons louer une voiture. Au cours de nos voyages, nous recherchons l'authenticité et des relations avec les habitants des pays.Bien sûr, nous sommes conscients que nous resterons "touristes" Arrivée Agadir le 1er décembre 2019 Direction Tafraoute par Aït Baha 2 jours pour visiter les gorges d'Aït Mansour et les environs Hôtel L'Arganier ? Ou bien avez-vous d'autres adresses. Tiznit Sidi Ifni Cap Draa Est-il intéressant d'aller plus au sud ? Guelmin Amtoudi et les environs : combien de jours pour se balader dans cette région qui me semble très belle et pas trop touristique ? Akka Tata Foum Zguid : le bon endroit pour faire 1 ou 2 nuits dans le désert ? Connaissez-vous un guide ou une bonne adresse pour cette escapade ?
