Bonjour à tous, je commence à préparer mon voyage en thailande qui a lieu fin février début mars pour une période de 10 jours sur place (hors avion aller-retour). C'est court mais je n'ai pas pu avoir mieux :-( Nous sommes 2 adultes, sans enfants donc plus facile à bouger... J'aimerais passer quelques jours sur la plage en fin de voyage (4 nuits je pense) mais pour le reste j'hésite : faut-il se contenter de Bangkok ou une escapade (peut être vers chiang mai) est-elle envisagable ? Combien de jours rester à Bangkok ? Je n'ai pas envie de tout faire au pas de course non plus... Faut-il laisser tomber Chiang Mai (est-ce que je ne vais pas le regretter ?), et alors d'autres suggestions ?

Pour l'instant j'en suis là : J1 : arrivée 15h Bangkok J2 et 3 : Bangkok (Ayutthaya ?) J4 : départ pour Chiang Mai (peut être tardif ? genre 21h arrivée 22h) J5 et 6 : Chiang Mai J7 : transfert vers ko Ngai (départ 14h-arrivée 19h) J8 à 10 : nager avec nos amis les poissons ;-) J11 : retour sur Bangkok : matin midi ou soir tout est possible... J12 : départ matinal pour la France

Bonjour je suis en train de préparer mon premier voyage pour la thaîIande nous partons en famille au mois de février pendant 3 semaines et demi avec ma femme et ma fille de 4 ans j'oriente mon voyage itinérant pour que ma fille se sente bien, c'est ma priorité donc je compte ne pas trop passer de temps dans les transports fatiguants: en arrivant nous passerions quelques jour à Bangkok por s'acclimater puis ne pas trop s'éloigner de Bangkok pour -partir voir les anciennes ruines AYUTTHAYA en bus où train? -ensuite à suivre partir dans la region KANCHANABURI en bus où train? voir les casacades du parc d'erawan puis je voulais aller dans un lieu style Ganesha parc où l'on voudrais aussi pouvoir dormir sur place et s'occuper d'éléphant ma grande question est que je voulais savoir si il y a une alternative (cette question a déjà été posé il y a 4 ans mais la réponse était dans la region de chiang mai mais moi je voulais savoir proche de kachanabury...) car il est devenu excessif pour moi avec le cours du bath c'est 190 euros par personne adultes pour 2 nuits et une journée sur place tout compris sauf boisson ce qui arriverait à presque 500 euros pour nous 3 sans compter le taxi...

Ensuite nous voudrions pour la fin du séjour soit + d'une dizaine de jour partir pour le sud louer un bungalow sur la plage en pleine nature... faut il repasser par bangkok pour prendre l'avion où y a t-il un aéroport à kachanabury pour des vols vers le sud ? -nous pensions au îles comme ko tao, où ko pha ngan où Samui pour que ma fille puisse profiter de la plage mais il est vrai que l'on ne m'as pas dit que du bien car c'est peu représentatif de la thaîlande et très touristique... Si quelqu'un a d'autre lieu et bon plan intéréssant je suis ouvert à tous conseil d'expérience dans le sud de la thaîlande avec un enfant,

Hi everyone, I’m starting to plan my next trip to Southeast Asia this winter (2.5 months, leaving in early December), and here’s a rough outline of my route—I’d love to share it with you and hear your thoughts and tips.

- I’ll start in Bangkok and already have three spots I’ve marked: Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi, and Uthai Thani (I haven’t been to any of these places yet). - Next, I’d like to cross the country from west to east to reach the Laos border. I’d love suggestions for any interesting stops along this route—I don’t know this part of Thailand at all... - Then I’ll head into Laos, probably at Savannakhet (you can usually get a visa at the border). - > I’m tempted to spend a week in Hoi An, Vietnam, since I loved that city and the area when I visited two years ago. No visa needed for Vietnam now, so it could be a nice little detour. On the map, it doesn’t look too far, but I know you’ve got to be careful with these things, and I’m not sure if it’s a good idea. Any opinions on this? - Back to Laos (maybe via Dakta), and I’ll head south along the Mekong, probably doing the Bolaven Plateau loop that I missed last time. Then Paksé, the 4,000 Islands... I’ve been before, but I’d happily go back. - Crossing into Cambodia, I’ll follow the Mekong down to Phnom Penh (I know this area and love how untouristy it is). From there, I’ll probably spend a few days in Kep (quieter than Kampot). Still undecided, though. - Then back to Thailand (BKK), likely by plane from Phnom Penh since the borders between the two countries are currently closed (plus, let’s be honest, Cambodian roads... ;-). We’ll see how things look when the time comes. - After that, I’d like to explore southern Thailand, taking it slow with short hops. I’ve got my eye on Khao Sok National Park, and I’ve heard good things about Krabi... Again, I don’t know this region well, so any info or tips would be great.

So, I think this should be doable in 2.5 months, especially since I prefer short hops of 300 km max to avoid getting too tired, and I like staying 2-3 days in each place to explore. Plus, I’ll take a week off to relax if I find a spot I love—maybe by the sea for some real downtime.

Here’s the itinerary I’ve planned for this new trip to Thailand:

Arrival – 2 nights in Bangkok (any hotel recommendations? Very quiet, near Chinatown or by the river)

Train or taxi (which app should I use for Thailand?) to Phetchaburi – 2 nights (any hotel recommendations?)

Daytime train to Surat Thani – 1 night there (any hotel recommendations?)

Pick up the rental car and head to Khao Sok – 1 night there (any hotel recommendations?)

Drive to Ko Kho Khao – 3 nights – relaxation (any hotel recommendations?)

Drive to Phang Nga Bay – 1 night (any base recommendations?)

Excursion in the bay, then drive to Krabi – 2 nights (any hotel recommendations) or any other spot with beautiful, quiet beaches that you might know?

Return to Surat Thani – overnight train to Bangkok, then Ayutthaya (any hotel recommendations?)

Visit the site and transfer to the airport – sniff, time to head back!

If you have other suggestions, keeping in mind the trip’s vibe: beach time without crowds or entertainment, a bit of nature, a bit of culture, no stress... No domestic flights and charming accommodations (not at 150 € per night, even though the budget is reasonable!)

Not sure I’ll follow them all, but all your ideas are welcome! 😉

I really loved Thailand, but it was too touristy for my taste. So I'm hesitating about going back and wondering if Cambodia or Vietnam would be less crowded with tourists...

Je sais qu'en décembre il fera meilleur, plus frais mais je crains qu'il y ait beaucoup plus de monde - et les grosses foules, les files de touristes partout, je n'aime pas. Les chambres sont-elles beaucoup plus chères en décembre (j'ai regardé un peu via Booking , la différence ne me parait pas énorme mais ailleurs je lis que si)? Sachant que je compte voir des lieux touristiques (Sukhotai, Bangkok...) et d'autres moins (mais on restera quand même en zone "semi-touristique" car voyage en famille) Merci Valérie

Hi, just a quick note mainly for Samsong, even if he’s still giving me the silent treatment. I’ve been in Nan since yesterday and... I love it! So thanks, Thierry. It’s exactly the kind of place I’d been dreaming of... Even if communication is a bit tough, it’s not impossible. They don’t even know the most basic English words! Everyone laughs and they’re the first to pull out their phones to... translate. They’re even quicker on the uptake than I am. And then there’s the time I say Nan (pronounced "Nane"). They don’t understand me. After a while (sometimes a long one), they reply: "Ah, Nan?" (pronounced "Nane") 😵🤳😃

The town is exactly how you described it back in 2022. Though I’m surprised to find so many trendy, slightly intellectual "Cafés." Apparently, coffee—excellent everywhere—is king in Nan. It feels like a university town. And it seems pretty lively at night! But for now, I’m going to bed early. I caught a nasty cold, which didn’t stop me from walking 12 km this morning. But I came back to my accommodation by 3 PM (gorgeous and luxurious with top-notch service for 800 baht—even a cute local welcome gift this morning, plus other unexpected touches like a bottle of honey and chrysanthemum flowers for tea. The lady must’ve guessed I was coming down with something yesterday). I thought about going out for dinner but didn’t have the energy. I think I’ve got at least 39°C fever...

Anyway, I’m sending you this message, Thierry, because you mentioned a daily bus to Chiang Rai, so I didn’t look into it. But now it’s a real problem—no buses to Chiang Rai, only taxis. At least 2,500 baht for the cheapest one! I’ll check the bus station directly tomorrow. Online, it’s all taxis, no buses. I’d like to explore the countryside/mountains if I can find an affordable driver. Any ideas for destinations or itineraries? Thanks.

Fin avril au retour d'une croisière plongée je vais passer 3 nuits à Bangkok. Arrivée en début d'après midi et départ en début de matinée. J'aurais donc 2 jours plein pour "découvrir" Bangkok. J'ai bien conscience que je ne verrai qu'une toute petite partie de la ville.

Je vais donc me concentrer sur le centre historique et les canaux avec leurs marchés flottants.

J'ai sélectionné quelques hôtels et je voudrais votre avis . La piscine est un plus, la tranquillité est recherchée :

Bonjour, Nous partons à 2 en Thaïlande en janvier 2020 pour un mois, et j'envisage de partager mon séjour en : 2/3 en Issan et 1/3 de plage. Et j'aurai besoin de vos conseils et avis. Nous sommes allés souvent en Thaïlande, mais jamais en janvier....

-En arrivant à Bangkok de France, j'ai déjà réservé un vol Bangkok/ Loeï afin de rejoindre Chiang Khan le même jour. Je compte rester 5 nuits à Chiang Khan, est ce que c'est correct ou est ce que ce n'est pas trop long ? Y-a-t-il des balades aux alentours( à pied ou en scooter)

-Par la suite je prévois de rejoindre Nong Khaï( que je connais déjà) par la route en longeant le Mékong. Est ce que le transport est facile entre Chiang Khan et Nong Khaï? Bus ? Mini van ? Combien de temps de transport en moyenne ?Est ce que ça vaut le coup de faire une halte d'une nuit quelque part entre ces 2 villes ?

-De Nong Khaï, je veux aller et loger à Bueng Khan pour être assez proche du Wat Phu Tuk. Même question que précédemment...Est ce que les moyens de transport sont faciles et fréquents entre ces 2 villes et combien de temps.. ? Pour rejoindre le site du Wat Phu Tuk je suppose qu'il faut passer par une agence ou un guide ? Doit-on prendre obligatoirement un taxi ?

-De Bueng Khan je prévois de rejoindre Udon Thani en bus ou mini van, Est ce faisable ? J'ai lu qu'il fallait environ 3heures... ? A Udon Thani, est ce que le lac aux lotus rouges vaut le déplacement ? Car j'ai vu qu'il n'est pas tout près.

-D'Udon Thani je voulais aller directement vers Krabi par avion, mais il n'y a que le vol vers Phuket qui arrive à 19h. Donc je dois obligatoirement dormir à Phuket. Quel endroit est le mieux pour passer une nuit afin de rejoindre facilement Ko Lanta par le ferry ? J'ai vu qu'il avait plusieurs compagnies, donc quel ferry est le mieux ? Ou bien vaut-il mieux rejoindre Krabi plutôt que Kho Lanta? Ou rester quelques jours sur Phuket... ?

J'ai lu pas mal d'avis mais je suis encore très indécis pour ces destinations plages de Phuket, Krabi, Kho Lanta et quel serait le meilleur «circuit» sur 10 jours, en arrivant par l'aéroport de Phuket et en repartant de Krabi en sachant que je ne veux pas speeder?

J'avais l'habitude de voyager en Thaïlande en juillet, et pour ceux qui connaissent, ma plage préférée pour juillet , était Thong Nai Pan Noï à Kho Phangan, mais c'est la première fois que je voyage en janvier et donc je ne connais pas du tout Phuket ou Krabi. Est ce qu'il est intéressant de rester quelques jours sur Phuket et si oui, quelle plage.... ? Hors Patong ou Kata... et surtout pas pour faire la fête mais un endroit cool( j'ai compris que janvier était la haute saison.....). J'ai entendu parler de Railey ? Freedom beach ? ou d'autres?

Et pour Kho Lanta et Krabi quel est votre plage préférée....?( qui ressemblerait à Tong Naï Pan Noï...!lol).

J'espère que vous allez pouvoir m'aider car je me fais des nœuds au cerveau en préparant notre séjour.

Nous sommes une famille avec 2 filles de 12 et 13 ans. Nous partons du 17/12 au 07/01 pour un séjour en Thaïlande, mon rêve.

Nous avons décidé pour le moment de faire Bangkok, ayutthaya, sukhothai, peut être chiang mai sinon on redescend à Bangkok en train de nuit pour aller ensuite à Krabi (on hésite avec samui) puis retour sur Bangkok avec un arrêt à erawan. Mon itinéraire fera l'objet d'une nouveau post.

Donc ma question étant dois je obligatoirement réserver mes hôtels à l'avance ou est ce que je trouverais des hôtels pas cher sur place (max 40€/nuit) au vu de mes dates de séjour ? Les hôtels présents en Thaïlande sont ils TOUS sur les plateformes de réservation ?

Does anyone know of a private transfer or taxi company that organizes transfers from the Sukhothai area to Chiang Mai? Our routes are Sukhothai-Lampang, Lampang-Chom Thong, and Chom Thong-Chiang Mai. My searches on Google Maps, 12Go, and others haven’t turned up much...

For our Bangkok-Sukhothai trips, I use a company I’ve already tried, but they don’t have a fleet available from Sukhothai and have to go through third-party companies—which, understandably, take their commission. This nearly doubles the prices...

There are four of us, and we’re not traveling light, so a minibus isn’t an option. ;-)

Je retourne fin novembre jusqu'à fin décembre en Thaïlande, ou je resterai basé sur Jomtien ou j'y ai un trouvé en juin un hotel bien sympa et calme et suis devenu pote avec les gérants .

Et de Jomtien, visiter d'autres endroits pas trop éloignés, mais surtout à aller en Isan via l'aéroport de Pattaya UTP vers khon kaen pour me rendre à Chum phae .

Pourquoi chum phae ? Tout simplement parce que ma copine thaie y a sa maison et famille près de chayaiaphum, à 7 kms de Chum phae. Je regarde donc pour un hotel sympa sur chum phae (choix très limité lol )pour un séjour entre 5 et 7 jours max .

Car j'ai toujours voulu découvrir l' Isan, et de ce que je vois Chum phae n'est pas le meilleur des coins en Isan et pas grand choses à voir et faire... . Ma fiancée Thaie m'a déjà prévenu et me dis que je risque de ne pas aimer , pas de 7/11, etc.... Quelqu'un connait cet endroit et pourrais me conseiller ce que pourrais visiter et découvrir dans cette région, et pas trop éloigné ? A savoir que je ne compte pas faire de trop longs trajet , genre 4 heures et + de routes . Elle m'a parlé de Loei qui serait à 2h de route . donc pourquoi pas Loei déjà .

tout est dans le titre. Quelqu'un pourrait-il nous dire où nous pourrions acheter une carte de la ville de Chiang Mai assez détaillée pour y voir les rues et pouvoir se déplacer à pieds?

J'ai fait des copies d'écran de Google Map (nous n'achetons pas de forfait pour téléphone/internet, en voyage on aime être un peu coupés du monde) mais ce n'est pas aussi pratique qu'une vraie carte. A Bangkok, nous avions trouvé une carte du réseau des bus (qu'on avait un peu rechigné à nous vendre... et je ne sais plus où nous l'avions achetée) et on y voyait toutes les rues c'était super pour se déplacer seuls.

Bonjour à tous Nous sommes un couple de 75 et 76 ans en bonne forme. Nous avons l'habitude d'organiser nous meme nos voyage avec l'aide de ce forum. Nous avons une bonne connaissance de l'Afrique du Nord, mais sur les conseils d'amis nous souhaitons nous "lancer" en Asie du Sud Est. Nous projetons de partir 6 à 7 semaines à partir du 28 octobre 2020. Nos poles d'interets sont -visites -petits trecs -vivre au milieu des habitants. -calme Il faudrait que le circuit tienne compte des conditions climatiques, surtout" pas trop chaud" On aime bien se déplacer en bus ou train . Gros problème....par quel pays débuter?Quel circuit peut-on envisager? Je suis certain que "ce maudit confinement"permettra un échange fructueux Je vous en remercie à l'avance.

I’m planning my trip for July–August 2025. After Bangkok and the Chiang Mai area, we’re heading to Koh Samui and Koh Phangan. I read on Le Routard that the water level is low during this period. On Koh Phangan, I’d like to stay on the west/northwest side of the island (Koh Ma? Haad Khom?) Could you let me know what the water level is like there? Will we be able to swim during this period? And if you have any beach/hotel recommendations for Koh Samui and Koh Phangan, that’d be great! Thanks!

je souhaite des vacances simples mais avec un certains confort, j'ai un budget d'environ 100 euros par jour, soit 2100 euros pour les 21 jours sur place

Hi everyone, I’m a die-hard fan of India, but it’s time I discovered Thailand too to broaden my Asian horizons. I’m heading there on January 19, 2025, for a 46-day trip (no visa needed as I’m French). I’ve pored over a few guidebooks and travel blogs. Based on what caught my interest, I’ve put together a rough itinerary and list of sights. But since I know absolutely nothing about Thailand, I’m kind of flying blind here. Since I’m not exactly a spring chicken anymore, I’ve opted for a few bases where I’ll stay several days in the same place. That way, I won’t have to change locations and hotels every day or so, packing and unpacking my suitcase constantly. Instead, I plan to explore the surrounding area each day, within a maximum radius of 50 to 70 km. So, first question: Is that kind of round-trip distance manageable in a day in Thailand? In India, renting a car for a day—with a driver—currently costs around 35 to 40 € per day. Knowing that 1,300 to 1,500 THB would be my absolute max, and even then, only if I don’t rent a car every single day. Which brings me to my second question: Am I being unrealistic? Otherwise—third question—once I’m settled in the city I’ve chosen as my base, can I get around within that 50–70 km radius using public transport? I’ve already booked all my hotels—with free cancellation—on booking.com at an average price of 950/1,000 THB per night. Does that put me in a good range for value for money? Or am I dreaming?

Here’s my plan:

BANGKOK (13 days, 14 nights): 1 week for exploring Bangkok – Kanchanaburi/Erawan National Park? – Ayutthaya/Lopburi? – Muang Boran – Samut – Songkram/Amphawa

Bangkok -> Chiang Mai by overnight train in first-class sleeper

CHIANG MAI (6 days/6 nights): Mae Hong Son – Hot springs – Chiang Dao – caves – Lamphun – other places to be decided on the spot based on what’s worth seeing and transport options

Chiang Mai -> Chiang Rai

CHIANG RAI (7 days/8 nights): Fang – Tha Ton – Chiang Saen – Doi Tung – Chiang Khong – Doi Ang Khang, Phu Chi Fah, etc.

Chiang Rai -> Phrae

PHRAE (4 days/5 nights): Lampang and surrounding areas, depending on what’s interesting to see

Phrae -> Loei

LOEI (4 days/5 nights): Phu Kradung – Chiang Khan and surrounding areas, depending on what’s worth seeing

Loei -> Buriram

PHIMAI (Nakhon Ratchasima/Khorat) (5 days/6 nights): Phimai – Prasat Muang Tam – Phanom Rung – Prasat Phanom Wan

avec mon compagnon nous partons pour un peu plus de 2 semaines en Thailande et notre projet de voyage se porte sur un itinéraire à partir de Bangkok vers Sukhothai, puis MaeSot, Chang rai, Mae Sariang et revenir à Chang Mai.

Bon c'est un premier jet, on affinera sur place.

Je cherche des renseignements sur le trajet Bangkok vers Sukhotai et ça me paraît compliqué.

Nous hésitons entre le train et le bus.Ce sont les horaires qui ne sont pas cool.Arrivée à Sukhothai en pleine nuit!!!!

Nous avons pensé faire une halte à Lopburi mais ça ne simplifie pas vraiment les choses.

Je pars fin mai, début juin pour un combiné Bangkok + plage, Phuket à priori. Plus facile pour nous pour les avions et rapport au budget également.

Je pars avec mon compagnon qui est du genre... stressé ! Il n'aime pas trop partir dans l'inconnu, ni les choses qui ne sont pas organisées, alors que moi, je partirais bien juste comme ça ! Prendre les billets d'avion et voir sur place !

Je suis déjà partie il y a 4 ans à Bangkok mais je n'avais eu que 24h et tout avait été fait très vite et surtout très mal ! Surtout avec le décalage horaire dans les dents ! Alors j'aimerais organiser les choses mieux pour les visites pour ne pas passer à côté de l'essentiel.

J'aurais donc besoin de conseils pour : - Situation de l'hôtel à Bangkok - Petit déjeuner à l'hôtel ou pas ? (Sachant que chéri stressé) - Attrape touriste à éviter ? - Attrape touriste qu'on en peut éviter ? - Comment se déplacer dans Bangkok ? - Ne pas tomber dans une arnaque ? - J'hésite à emprunter un tuk-tuk ? Je voudrais le faire 1x pour lui montrer mais je ne veux pas me faire (trop) arnaquer non plus... (mais je pense qu'il faudra bien que ça arrive ! ). - Aller à Koa San Road ou pas ? Je l'avais fait il y a 4 ans. - Un rooftop à conseiller pour une chouette vue sur Bangkok ? - Des petits trucs insolites à voir, à faire ? - Un endroit au top pour des massages ?

D'autres conseils généraux sur Bangkok ?

Éventuellement, des gens ici habitent sur place et serait d'accord de nous faire visiter pendant une journée ou une après-midi ?

Our family trip (2 kids, boys aged 6 and 9) is coming up fast, and I have a few questions. I’ve seen that quite a few people on this forum are active about Thailand, so I hope you can help me out :-)

- I have a Free mobile plan with a good amount of data abroad (35GB). Do you know if the Bolt or Grab apps work well with a French SIM? I’ve read that the app might not work if the SIM isn’t Thai, but I’ve also seen French travelers using their SIMs in Thailand, so I’m not sure what to think.

- What tips do you have to avoid traveler’s diarrhea (especially for our 6- and 9-year-olds)? I’m already preparing them to wash their hands often and not put their hands in their mouths or brush their teeth with tap water (they’re still little and might not control the water well in their mouths). Are there certain dishes or food stands to avoid? Are ice cubes really off-limits too?

- We arrive in Bangkok at 9 AM, and we have a French-speaking guided tour scheduled for the next morning (all day). The itinerary isn’t finalized yet with the guide—I need to get back in touch soon. What do you recommend doing on that first day, which might be tiring after the long flight and jet lag? Our hotel has a nice pool, but I’d love for us to get out and explore a bit :-)

- Is the Grand Palace really best visited early in the morning to avoid crowds?

- I’d love to visit a night or floating market, but they’re all on weekends. Unfortunately, we’re in Bangkok from Wednesday to Saturday morning (then we take the train to Ayutthaya in the morning). Is there a market on Friday night? I saw Chatuchak, but Friday night doesn’t seem like the best time—is it still worth going?

I’ve looked for answers to these questions, but I’m either not finding a definitive answer or I’m overwhelmed by all the things to do/see in Bangkok. So, I’m hoping your advice or experiences can help me out!

I’m looking for a beach spot within 3 hours max of Bangkok for the end of my trip (January). I know full well I won’t find that postcard-perfect vibe of the more remote islands! But I don’t have a choice. If you’ve got any ideas... no high-rises, obviously not Pattaya, somewhere quiet, swimming possible, a hotel right on the beach (and not too dirty, the beach itself!) I’ve looked at hotels around Ko Samet or, across from it, on the mainland. I spotted the Bann Pae Cabana. But nothing really exciting on either side. New ideas welcome! 🙂

Bonjour, A l'occasion de notre quinzième voyage en Thaïlande en janvier, nous aimerions rapporter un ou plusieurs de ces petits personnages ou animaux marrants qui décorent les jardins en Thaïlande. Je crains que çà soit lourd...mais en bagage à main çà passerait peut-être. Donc je me demande où acheter çà. Je ne vais pas dans le nord cette année mais au sud de Trang, à PKK et à Bangkok. Je pense qu'on doit trouver à Chatuchak où je n'ai pas mis les pieds depuis très longtemps. Si quelqu'un avait un plan récent du marché nous permettant de trouver la zone qui nous intéresse, çà me serait bien utile, ou un autre conseil sur les endroits où acheter les "nains de jardins" locaux ?
