Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out to ask for your help with a bit of a problem:
I booked a flight to Berlin from Orly for April 15th—it’s coming up fast. But I just made an annoying discovery: my passport expired two weeks ago.
From what I understand, in principle, I can still travel within the Schengen Zone with an expired passport as long as it’s been less than five years. However, EasyJet’s website explicitly requires a valid ID (and just to add to the fun, my national ID card has been expired for a while now).
So, I’d love to know: how strict are EasyJet’s ID checks? Do they enforce validity rules strictly and refuse boarding if the ID isn’t valid? Or is it more of a luck-of-the-draw situation?
Basically, should I just write off this trip now, or should I still try my luck—maybe with a little tearful plea? Has anyone here had a similar experience? I can’t be the only one, right!

Hi there,
What do you think about airlines and other travel industry players being on Facebook? I’m thinking of creating a free page that brings together the entire travel industry! Am I allowed to do that? Would you follow me?
Thanks!

Hi,
I’d like to book a flight ticket with Virgin Australia to go to Tasmania.
At checkout, I enter my bank card details, but they keep telling me my card number "is too short." What should I do? The number is correct.
Thanks for your help

Hi there! 🙂
We’d like to find a covered parking lot (other than the Q-Park ones with prohibitive rates at the airport). While browsing the web, we came across Parking 42 in Ransart, 850 m from the terminal.
Have any of you used it before? If so, please share your feedback.
Thanks everyone! 😏

On my flight from Chiang Rai (CEI) to Krabi (KBV) via Bangkok (DMK), I took two connecting flights: the first with Nok Air and the second with AirAsia, with a layover of about 1 hour and 10 minutes. Just enough time to grab my backpack and check in—basically a quick sprint through the airport...
Everything went smoothly, but at DMK, the AirAsia flight was 30 minutes late...
Once comfortably seated in the departure lounge, I checked my passport and boarding passes and realized Nok Air had weighed my checked backpack at 8 kg, but when it arrived at DMK, AirAsia had weighed it at 10 kg! So, my bag supposedly gained 2 kg after just 1 hour and 10 minutes of flight...??? 😮
Nok Air offers 15 kg of baggage for free, while AirAsia offers nothing—you have to buy 15 kg (300 baht) when purchasing your ticket or pay 900 baht at the counter for the same allowance. Excess baggage costs 400 baht per additional kg.
Low-cost airlines worldwide (and even major carriers) are eyeing baggage weight—having paid for it with Corsair before—but these "extra" 2 kg that magically appeared are still worth pointing out. My bag weighed 7.8 kg when leaving YUL (Air China), and it’s a 35L backpack that also weighed 8 kg on the way back.
So, be careful...

I’ll be arriving at Brussels Charleroi Airport at 3:40 PM with a carry-on bag on Ryanair. The Flibco shuttle to Lille leaves at 4:00 PM right outside the airport—will 20 minutes be enough? The next shuttle isn’t until 5:00 PM. Thanks for your help! Paule
Hi there,
I never thought I’d end up in the "travel horror stories" section of the forum. But here we are—it happened Sunday, June 12th, in the evening at Gatwick. Tons of flights were cancelled, including ours (EasyJet LGW-GVA at 5:05 PM), right before boarding, due to cracks on the runway (?!?).
After 3 hours of "vague promises" (around 10 PM), my girlfriend and I went back through immigration, picked up our luggage, and started the endless queue to get rebooked and accommodated. Estimated wait: a 100-meter line and 4-5 hours with no guarantee of a result.
Then we got a text from EasyJet offering to let us find our own hotel room and promising a refund. Since it smelled fishy (all EasyJet flights the next day were full), we booked a room at the Ibis and reserved a BA flight from LCY on Monday, June 13th.
Question: what are we entitled to?
1) Refund for the 2 tickets + luggage for LGW-GVA? I think that’s a given.
2) Refund for LCY-GVA? I don’t think so, since we rebooked ourselves.
3) Refund for the night at the Ibis? Since they told us to handle it ourselves and promised a refund via text.
4) Anything else?
Thanks in advance for your replies. I need to prepare the refund request.

April 5, 2017 The airline Air Austral announces the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Air Madagascar!
Darn it, I’d switched from Air M**ad** to Austral to avoid any more hassles (back in 2015: stuck for 4 days at Ivato, compensation offered was 150 € to use on the next flight—I threw their letter back in their faces and vowed never to fly with them again).
Today, it’s ruined—Air Madagascar’s problems are already rubbing off on Air Austral.
April 26, 2017 Air Austral’s plane leaves Roissy nearly an hour late, even though passengers had been boarded for ages. The captain announces: technical issues with the plane that would be resolved quickly.
April 27 We arrive in Réunion over an hour late, only to learn that the plane supposed to take us to Tamatave—coming from Mauritius—had technical issues mid-flight and is now under review. They promise to update us by 11 AM, which was the original departure time. 11:30 AM, still nothing—we go ask for news, and nothing! By noon, they decide to give us a "royal sandwich" for 3 € and a soft drink. A little later, they finally tell us the flight is canceled and rescheduled for 7 AM the next day. Off to the hotels—some of us won’t eat that evening because not all hotels have restaurants.
April 28 Up at 4 AM to catch the 5 AM bus back to the airport. The same ATR that broke down the day before takes off 20 minutes late for Tamatave—a ten-minute flight over the Indian Ocean before turning right back to Réunion due to *more* technical issues. Back in the airport, no one to greet us. The hall is packed, and we have no idea where to go, so we head upstairs to squat in a private, air-conditioned lounge with leather chairs. There are about twenty of us, so they can’t kick us out and immediately notify Air Austral that we’ve taken over a service provider’s space. We stay there for about 2 hours, but no one from Air Austral dares to come in and update us. We go back downstairs to demand to see a company manager. In private, some staff tell us about Air Austral’s recurring issues—later, we’ll learn that another flight to Mauritius was also postponed until the evening.
After an hour of back-and-forth, someone finally decides to talk to us—it’s already 11 AM. They inform us that a spare part is arriving from Paris tomorrow and promise a 1:20 PM departure. We all stand together and demand a new plane because we’ve lost all trust. They respond that all options have been considered, but unfortunately, the ATRs from Air Madagascar and Air Mauritius are also grounded—how reassuring! (FYI, large planes can’t land on Tamatave’s runway.)
The manager’s only goal is to break us up because as a group, we’re a force they can’t handle. Orders must have been given because 7 or 8 Air Austral staff circle us, handing out hotel vouchers. Unfortunately, everyone’s only thinking about themselves, and they manage to split us up. So, back to the hotels for another night in Saint-Denis.
9 PM: new message—the flight is now pushed to 3 PM, and it keeps going… To be continued tomorrow!
I find Air Austral’s management behavior absolutely unacceptable and shameful! They’re playing fast and loose with their passengers’ lives.

Hello, are there any airlines (we're not talking about low-cost here!) that actually check the weight of carry-on luggage? Most airlines set a limit of 10 kg (per bag or total—it’s never clear, especially since you can usually have a backpack plus a handbag), but EVA Air & Cathay Pacific (along with most Chinese airlines) only allow 7 kg…!!
That’s a ridiculous weight for me—my bag usually weighs around 11 kg. I mentioned ANA & JAL because the Japanese are very strict about rules, so if any airline enforces these checks, they’d be the first to do it… but maybe I’m wrong! Share your thoughts if you’ve flown with these airlines (or others, especially outside the continent) often. Thanks in advance! :)

Hi,
For those who’ve flown from France (Lyon or Marseille) to Seville before, which airline would you recommend? I’m planning to go for a few days in the spring. Thanks.

I just had to bring back another unforgettable souvenir besides my simple hotel hassle for Thanksgiving in Page, Arizona!
So, I decided to head back last Wednesday on "the" flight that was going to have a problem leaving Phoenix! 😉
Just to remind you, last year I had a flight delay issue due to a Lufthansa strike.
This year, I decided to go even bigger! ... So, we board British Airways flight BA0288 out of Phoenix. Everything goes well until takeoff. The plane takes off, we're in the air for about 30 minutes, and then they announce that the plane is turning back to land in Phoenix due to an issue with one of the engines...
I’d later find out from videos that the engine in question was simply spewing flames... Terrifying! 🤪
So, back to Phoenix airport—I’ll spare you the details—flight canceled. At 3 AM, British Airways staff finally manage to find me a new flight (the same one the next day, by the way). So, after 5 endless hours of waiting, I know I’m leaving 24 hours later, on December 7th at 8:40 PM.
I ask them to book me a hotel room, since that was the condition for agreeing to leave 24 hours after my original flight.
The British Airways staff tell me all the hotels are fully booked and that basically, I’m on my own.
So, just to clarify... *All* the hotels in Phoenix. I did a quick search—about 62,000 rooms fully booked in Phoenix! Wow! 😛
Thanks, British! So, stuck on foot in an airport at 3 AM, with zero desire to drop $100 on a taxi to find a hotel, and the same the next day to get back—especially since I can’t trust them to book a room, and I doubt they’d reimburse me easily afterward... I end up more or less forced to sleep in the airport...
I’ll spare you even more details—no meal the next day, not even a drink... Just a bottle of water and a sandwich the first night (I should’ve taken more if I’d known...).
The next day, British Airways staff finally show up around 4:30 PM, fresh, well-rested, and showered... Meanwhile, I’d been struggling like a homeless person in that damn airport, sleeping on the floor, filthy...
I ask to see the manager, explain my misadventure after an emergency landing, and remind them that the least they could do was help me get a hotel room.
The manager—super cold and borderline rude... All she can say is:
"We’ve done everything we can for you. Have a good flight, sir!"
So, I wanted to give British Airways a little shout-out.
Of course, since then, British Airways hasn’t responded to messages or even tags on social media...
Now, I just have to deal with the compensation claims, which are well-deserved this time...
To be continued...

Good evening,
On June 19th, I’m flying with Air France to Morocco (Rabat). I have a carry-on suitcase that’s 53x36x24, and on the Air France website, they list the dimensions as 55x35x25. On the forum, I read that the sum of the three dimensions shouldn’t exceed 115 cm, so I should be fine since mine adds up to 113 cm—but the Air France site doesn’t mention this at all.
Do you think I’ll run into problems because the width is 1 cm over?
Thanks for your replies!
Have a good evening
Hey everyone,
I booked a flight with RyanAir for next month, with the priority+ option and two cabin bags. So I can take a 10 kg bag with dimensions 55x40x20 in the cabin (plus another smaller one). The problem is that the smallest suitcase I have (which is supposed to be designed specifically for cabin size standards, according to the manual) has the following dimensions: 55x37x21, so it's just 1 cm over (wheels included) on one of the measurements.
I wasn’t too worried at first, but I’ve read dozens of stories about people’s misadventures and the hassles they’ve had with RyanAir.
Since I don’t want my suitcase to end up in the hold (that would waste time picking it up when I’m already arriving late and need to get to the city center), nor do I want to pay an extra fee (apparently 50 €) for the outbound and return flights for just 1 centimeter—especially since I paid for the "priority+" option and I’m not exactly rolling in money—I’d love some advice.
Have any of you been in the same situation? I’ve read that with this airline, they check bags in templates (testing them in different positions) and are completely uncompromising. I tried contacting customer service, who, as luck would have it, "don’t handle this kind of request," and a rep I spoke to wasn’t much help.
I know it’s a low-cost airline, and I don’t expect luxury or even kindness, but come on—just 1 cm on a short flight with the + option... I’m a bit overwhelmed by everything I’ve read...
Just to clarify, since I’m going for 8 days, I can’t just take one bag for my stuff. I’ve done that for shorter trips before, and it was a hassle—I even had to buy an extra bag for the return trip... Luckily, the inspector was nice about it!
Thanks so much! I’m a newbie when it comes to air travel :) Hope I posted this in the right section!

My wife bought a flight ticket (Lucky Air) under her Thai maiden name and was issued a Chinese visa on her new Thai passport but with her French married name (due to administrative requirements). She was denied boarding by the airline in Bangkok for the flight to Kunming—resulting in the loss of our round-trip flight tickets, including mine since we were traveling together—despite presenting both passports at the airline counter at the same time.
hi,
We're heading to the Selous Game Reserve from January 21 to 23 and have booked 2 nights at the Mapumziko Lodge. We'd like to take a flight to get there faster, but we can't find any info on flights, their prices, or the airstrips—there are so many in Selous, apparently. Has anyone taken a small plane there before and could give us some tips? Thanks in advance
Good evening everyone,
I wanted to change my ticket with Lufthansa. There was no information about the price of the change on the confirmation.
On the LUFTHANSA website, it finally states that the change costs nothing except the price difference between the two tickets.
However, when I call, the advisors want to charge us 130 € in fees per person. I spoke to a supervisor on the phone who refused to listen.
I would have obviously paid if the fees had been indicated. However, the fare conditions on the website for my booking clearly state that the fees are zero.
I don’t know what to do now. What do you advise in this situation? I’m really facing total bad faith from Lufthansa.
Thanks in advance. Have a great evening everyone!

Good evening,
I’m leaving next Tuesday, January 14, 2020, with Thai Airways for Bangkok, and I just noticed that my husband’s flight ticket was marked as "Mms" (Mrs.) instead of "Monsieur" (Mr.). I called the airline, and they told me I have to pay at least 50 € (okay, I guess that’s manageable), but they also said I have to pay the difference between the ticket price at the time of purchase (April 2019) and today’s price—huge difference.
Has anyone else had this issue, and more importantly, can anyone tell me if there’s a risk in showing up for check-in? The first and last names are correct.
Thanks for letting me know as soon as possible because I’m starting to panic a little.

Hi there,
We traveled with Qatar Airways from Roissy to the Seychelles in business class. The flight was on time, and the only hiccup was changing planes in Doha for an Airbus A350 in the same class.
The cabin crew was very attentive, and the in-flight meals were way above average. The seats were super comfortable—especially the lie-flat position—so the flight was really restful. I’d highly recommend this airline. From what I’ve seen, they mainly serve the Middle East and Asia.
Speaking of which, we’re about to book a trip to Thailand and Cambodia, again with the same airline.
Hi,
I bought a flight ticket to Colombia with Lufthansa, but I’m giving up on this trip because of the pandemic in South America. The airline is only offering to refund the airport taxes.
Is this normal?
Has anyone else run into this issue?
Thanks for your replies!

Hi,
It was just announced by the Vice President of Burma (Myanmar) that international flights might not resume until October. This is a tough situation for tourism professionals and airlines, who have already been struggling since the beginning of the year.

Hi,
We have a flight to Bastia with EasyJet in August that was originally scheduled to arrive at 4 PM. They just changed the time, and now we’ll arrive at 8:50 PM, which works a lot less well for us. Does this nearly 5-hour schedule change allow us to request a cancellation and refund for our booking? I know it’s possible with a "traditional" airline, but what about a low-cost carrier? And if so, can we get a refund for the entire booking or just the outbound flight affected by the schedule change?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Hi there,
I need to get to Mulhouse Airport. I’m flying with EASYJET for the first time. On my ticket, it says check-in on the Swiss side, but I’m heading to Bordeaux. I’ve never been to Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg Airport before.
Could you tell me exactly where I need to check in—French side or Swiss side?
Thanks for your help!

Hi there,
I’m heading to the United States for the first time, flying from Paris to Austin with a layover in Atlanta. I arrive at 8:55 PM and leave again at 10:30 PM. Air France told me I don’t need to collect my checked bags, but I keep reading that I *do* have to pick them up after immigration and customs—and that doing all that in 1 hour 30 minutes is basically impossible. I’m traveling with my son, and our English isn’t great. It’s making me a little anxious because the flight I need to catch is the last one of the day, and if I miss it, I’ll have to wait until the next morning.
Do you think this is doable?
Thanks so much
I’m heading to the United States for the first time, flying from Paris to Austin with a layover in Atlanta. I arrive at 8:55 PM and leave again at 10:30 PM. Hi,
So glad the site’s back up—I’ve always found great off-the-beaten-path tips here!
This time, we’re planning a trip to Uzbekistan. Since time is a bit tight, we wanted to fly from Tashkent to Urgench, but we can’t find any direct flights between the two. Do we need to book from France, and if so, which site should we use? We’re thinking of going around mid-April.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello fellow members,
Hope you're all doing well—it’s really great to see the site up and running again! Back in 2022, I booked a round-trip flight to Cairo/Paris via eDreams. The outbound was with Saudia: Cairo > Jeddah > Paris. The return was supposed to be in September 2022 with Aegean: Paris > Athens > Cairo. At the end of July, I got an email saying my flight was canceled by the airline. I immediately requested a refund, and they told me it would take 6 months to process. And since then—nothing. I’ve followed up with eDreams multiple times, but they just redirected me to Aegean, whose contact seems impossible to reach.
Do you have any leads or a contact address to follow up with them? Have any of you had similar experiences? Were you eventually refunded?
Amina

Hi,
my current question:
which airline to pick—the cheapest one and also the one that takes the least time from TOULOUSE?
Thanks for your help
Hi,
Lufthansa is really pushing it:
Cancellation of two flights with no rebooking options offered, even though rebooking is possible on the same dates with comparable travel times. Yet Lufthansa claims no rebooking is possible;
To get a refund for a flight canceled by the airline (well after the Covid crisis), you have to take legal action! A refund request was properly submitted, but Lufthansa hasn’t responded.
Lufthansa’s lawyer admitted in court that the refund request is valid and that the airline is willing to refund. But over a year later, the refund still hasn’t been issued! Clearly, Lufthansa prefers to wait for a court ruling, which is a sure thing given their own lawyer’s statement;
After a phone call initiated by the passenger, rebooking was agreed upon by both parties—only for Lufthansa to cancel it immediately without offering any alternative rebooking.
In a follow-up call initiated by the passenger, Lufthansa proposed a rebooking with a travel time of 31 hours instead of 21, even though faster rebooking options with comparable travel times exist.
The proposed 31-hour rebooking includes a nighttime layover of over 12 hours with no hotel or transportation coverage;
For the first rebooking that both parties agreed on (but Lufthansa immediately canceled), they refused to cover ground transportation from the arrival airport to the originally planned airport;
Refusal of other "prompt" rebooking options, even though they were available and proposed by the passenger;
Ongoing legal case: https://retardimportantavion.wordpress.com/2024/10/23/lufthansa-championne-du-refus-des-droits-des-passagers/ 2 Best regards,

Hi there,
Have you ever traveled with this airline? It seems like they have a real monopoly on some destinations and are also much cheaper.
Thank youuuu.

Booked an Air Mauritius ticket via a flight operated by Air France, but my middle name was shortened to just an initial with "Ms" attached instead of being written as Lalina Alexandra Fernandez. On the ticket, it shows as Lalina Ams Fernandez, even though I booked with the correct name. Apparently, no one can modify the ticket. Do you think this will cause problems?
