Je vais essayer de vous expliquer mon problème de façon claire pour pas que mon récit ne soit trop long!
Je pars en Californie 3 mois entant que touriste pour la première fois, chez des amis (de début octobre à tout début janvier).
Ensuite, fin janvier/début février, 3 semaines plus tard donc, j'y retourne pour suivre des cours d'anglais intensif (16semaines) et j'ai besoin d'un visa F1 cette fois-ci (l'école où je vais aller m'a déjà envoyée le formulaire I-20).
Voici mes 2 questions:
- Faut-il que j'aille à l'ambassade et fasse mon visa AVANT mon départ aux USA entant que touriste la 1ere fois ?
(Je me demande si au service de l'immigration sur le territoire américain ils vont pas se poser des questions, et me dire que comme j'ai un visa pour février, j'ai qu'à revenir qu'à cette date-là !Vous ne pensez pas qu'ils trouvent ca louche ? Car en tout, ca fait plus de 6 mois aux USA, mais pas vraiment la même année (1ère fois en 2008, puis seconde en 2009), mais qu'avec 3 semaines d'écart.
-Où bien, faut-il que je fasse mon visa seulement durant la période de 3 semaines entre mes deux voyages aux USA, soit APRES mes 3 mois de tourisme ?
(Dans ce cas, je me demande si j'aurais alors assez de temps pour bien caller mon RDV à l'ambassade à cette période bien précise, et si l'ambassade va pas trouver ca louche non plus..)
J'espère avoir des réponses, et peut-être de personnes ayant fait une expérience plus ou moins similaire ! Mais toutes réponses sont les bienvenues !

je te conseille dans un premier temps de te renseigner aupres de la prefecture de ta ville et leur demander sil savent combien de temps l'ambassabe american a paris met pour te donner le visa que tu auras besoin pour fevrier... et serieux pour eviter toute confusion avec limmigrations american je te conseille de la faire une fois que tu seras rentré de ton premier voyage ou la tu seras aux states en tant que touriste ...
sache que meme en temps que touriste il faut parfois un visa a demander a l'ambassade ... et ca s'applique a toutes les personnes qui ont un passport a lecture optique et qui lont faut apres le 26 10 2005 .....

Le premier séjour de 3 mois est pour faire du tourisme, et ensuite pour des études. Bien sûr, ils vont te poser la question pour savoir pourquoi tu viens comme touriste avec un visa étudiant, mais tu leurs expliques que tu ne veux pas valider tout de suite ton visa.
Sinon, faire ton visa étudiant APRÈS tes 3 mois en Californie c'est aussi une bonne façon de faire, reste juste à vérifier les délais.

Je cite, du site de l'ambassade américaine française; rubrique: Programme d'exemption de visa:
"Grâce au programme d'exemption de visa (Visa Waiver Program), les citoyens français (ainsi que ceux de certains pays: voir liste) peuvent entrer aux Etats-Unis sans devoir d'abord obtenir un visa non-immigrant auprès d'une ambassade ou d'un consulat américain, s'il s'agit d'un voyage de tourisme ou d'affaires ou si ils se trouvent en transit."
Tu peux très bien faire le visa avant de partir, en précisant bien à l'arrivée de ton séjour touristique que tu viens cette fois pour tourisme.
Ce n'est pas tant le délai de délivrance du visa qui pose problème (envoyé par chronopost en quelques jours), c'est surtout le délai pour avoir un RDV... (toute demande de visa étudiant US fait l'objet d'un RDV obligatoire à l'ambassade USA à Paris). Pour connaître le délai, pas d'autre solution qu'appeler (15 euros l'appel) ou de poser le RDV via internet (14.50E).
Pour info il y a deux ans, mon visa étudiant m'avait coûté entre les coûts d'appel, de visa, de frais SEVIS, de chronopost, de photo au format US environ 200E (et encore j'habite à Paris, donc pas de coûteux déplacement à l'ambassade...)

Our departure time is getting closer (we have less than 2 years left—it’s both a long time and so short!). To start preparing seriously, we’ll need quite a bit of info. If anyone knows the rates charged by movers for a crate to French Polynesia, or what pitfalls to avoid (I know you can get quotes directly from movers, but I’d love insights from actual customers😉).
