Luggage and bikes during layovers in Lima

I’m planning to take Air France from Paris to Trujillo with my 2 bikes in boxes. I have a layover in Lima and a change to LATAM Airlines for Trujillo. On the way back, it’s Santa Cruz in Bolivia via Lima (LATAM Airlines) and then Air France to Paris. During the layovers in Lima, do I need to collect my luggage and the bike boxes and re-check them for the second flight? It’s really hard to get through to Air France for this kind of question.

Hi there. For the outbound route Paris > Lima (with AF) then Lima > Trujillo (with LATAM), you can find info on this AF website page. For the return from Santa Cruz de la Sierra, you’ll need to check with LATAM.

Good evening, If you have a single ticket for the entire journey—specifically, a single PNR number made up of 6 digits or letters (or a mix of both)—your luggage will go straight to the final destination. If there are two different numbers, you’ll need to go through formalities, collect your luggage, and then head back to the departure level to check in again, just like when you left France. Either way, they’ll let you know at the airport in France when you depart, or you can always ask if needed.
Cordialement, Patrick.

For the return trip, you can find the answer on this LATAM website page. It confirms, as previously mentioned by member Patrick91230, that baggage transfer is handled automatically for the connecting flight (except in special cases) when there’s a single ticket or booking number.
