Bonjour, je vais pour noel et le nouvel an à Rio de Janeiro, mais les prix des hôtels étant prohibitifs à cette période, j'ai trouvé sur internet 2 possibilités de logement:ou bien dans un studio à 33€/ la nuit à Botafogo, près de la clinique et à 150m de la plage, donctarif pour 12 nuits = 396€ ou bien un appart avc chambre séparée à Copacabana à 100m de la plage 650€
Je n'arrive pas à me décider car autant j'ai envie de qqch pas trop cher mais autant je ne trouve pas d'informations ni de photos sur Botafogo qui me confortent dans mon choix.
Les informations étant maigres pour ce quartier, donc je suis vraiment dans l'incapacité de choisir. Faut-il mettre un peu plus d'argent et être sûre de pouvoir profiter de mes vacances ou dois-je payer juste l'endroit où je v dormir sans savoir si je pourrai sortir sans risque de me faire agresser. ma méconnaissance du bresil m'amènent à vous poser des questions qui peuvent sembler naives, mais quand on n'a jamais vécu dans un endroit, on ne peut que se fonder sur une belle réputation ou des mauvaises rumeurs... help

Botafogo n est pas l ideal pour toi, bien qu il soit pret de copacabana il n y a pratiquement rien a faire dans ce quartier .
les meilleurs quartiers pour toi serait :
Ipanema, Copacabana, Leme, Flamengo ou Santa Teresa, pour Santa Teresa le deplacement n est pas pratique ..
je te donne une page net avec des tas d hotels et auberges, stp envoie leurs un mail et tu pourras choisir ce qui te conviendras et voir le rapport quartier-prix ..

Tu trouveras certainement mieux et moins cher, mais il ne faudra pas attendre car en cette periode de l année les prix montent et les places seront chaque fois plus rare a trouver .

respecte les consignes de securité des grandes villes du monde et rien ne t arrivera, pour Noel et nouvel an, je te conseille de rester plutot vers Leblon, Ipanema, Copacabana ( ceci dans l ordre 1 Leblon, 2 Ipanema, 3 Copacabana ...)

Botafogo quartier populaire n'est pas fréquenté par les touristes.vous dormirez à Botafogo, Copacabana
sera votre rendez vous: plage, shoping, soirées.balades sur les plages.
Pour 650 euros fin de l'année le prix est raisonnable.dépend de la rue.eviter avenue Notre Senhore de Copacabana.Princesse Isabel .rue Barata Ribeiro.axe bruyant jour comme de nuit.

Pour les excursions tu pourras y aller par tes propres moyens, prends un taxi c est plus sur et plus pratique, quant aux sorties noctures c est idem aux restaurants, il y a de tout a copacabana et dans les quartriers voisins, si tu aimes la bonne musique dirige toi a Lapa, tous les vendredis en bas des arches de Lapa, il y a des groupes de musique .
C est ma femme qui était guide de tourisme a Rio, pour ma part je ne travaille pas avec une agence de tourisme ou avec Riotur, j habite a Rio depuis 1980 ..j espere vous rencontrer un jour ici ou a Annecy .

Bonjour je suis allé à RIO en janvier 2008 et j'ai séjourné à Botafogo une semaine dans une maison d'hôte dont j'ai perdu l'adresse, mais c'est un quartier très typique de Rio; j'ai apprécié car ce n'est pas touristique; pour me loger vers la fin du séjour je suis allé dans un hotel international plutôt auberge de jeunesse, mais sympa à Santa Térésa, aussi très typique mais plus touristique avec sa Bonde et ses petits restos, ses ateliers d'artistes et ses maisons style 1900; un régal; le montmartre de Rio; pour bien manger à Copacabana, comme je ne rappelle plus les nomsvoir sur google restaurants a viande intitulé " ah les nanas " il décrit très bien ce qu'on ressent dans ces restos là; pour moi un séjour extra avec une semaine à ILHA GRANDE une ile pour piètons très calme et sécurisante à 200 km au sud; voir photos ci jointes : plage de Rio et une vue des hauteurs de l'île; ne pas râter Paraty un peu plus bas Daniel

Depuis 20 ans nous allons à RIO environ une fois par an (ma femme est Brésilienne)
avec des euros il faut changer en petite coupure dans les agence de change (avenue Rio Branco)
ou agence de voyage (prèt de Copacabana Palace rua Nossa senhor de Copacabana)faire le maximum d'agences
les changes sont fluctuant d'une semaine sur l'autre quelque fois par jour.garder toujours des euros.
ne pas changer àu banque Brésilienne.pourquoi?la banque donne le tarif officiel + taxes.
agence de voyage est toujours au dessus des tarifs officiels:10 à 20%.au carnaval
l'euros est au plus bas.(prix officiel)

ne pas changer d'argent avec la carte bancaire française on va HSBC et on prend des Réals dans un distributeur; is etcpar contre on change un peu d'euros à l'aéroport de Rio pour les petits frais taxi etc; essayer de ramener de là bas de la poudre de Guarana ou du concentré ; en France c'est cher et recherché env cinquante fois plus de vita C que ds le citron et la fameuse boisson des routiers et des jeunes en boite en contient ;
pour la reserve de l appartement et payement en euro, il faudrait verifier avec cette personne quel change il te proposerait, quelquefois c est plus interessant de changer la valeur de la reserve d euro en reais en allant dans une agence de change ( suis stp les conseils de mon ami madmax ) .

Si tu vas changer tes euros dans une maison de change
faits tres attention en sortant de l agence de change, cache l argent sur toi, n échange que le juste necessaire, vas y si possible accompagnée .
dans l appartement :
assure toi que l appartement est sur pour y garder tes valeurs et objets, sache que des personnes peuvent avoir le double des clefs et ce n est pas forcement le propriétaire .
Demande au propriétaire si d autres personnes ont les cléfs de cet appartement
sur la plage ( principalement Copacabana )
ne laisse pas tes affaires sur le sable de la plage ou sac a dos ou autre quand tu prends un bain de mer, si tu es accompagnée que l autre personne garde tes affaires en attendant que tu prennes un bain de mer et vis et versa .
évite d aller a la plage avec des bijoux idem dans la rue ..
Attention au soleil, il est tres fort si tu as la peau blanche évite d aller a la plage lorceque le soleil est a son point le plus fort, prends un protecteur solaire force 30 et lunettes de soleil, chapeau etc etc .
alimentaire :
quelquefois les aliments peuvent provoquer des troubles digestifs en fonction ou du piment ou de l acidité des fruits, dans le cas ou tu prendrais ce genre de problème voici les médicaments a prendre ici que tu acheteras seulement en pharmacie sans ordonnance .
sonrisal ou alkaseltzer ( pour la digestion )
immosec gota ou comprimido ( troubles intestinaux )
buscopan composto ( douleur d estomac ou appareil digestif, coliques )
pour sonrisal + 1 comprimé dans un verre d eau

Bon ça y est, pour moi la réservation a été faite aujourd'hui, vendredi 05 décembre, par Western Union, espérons que le reste se passe bien. J'ai vraiment très peur de tranférer de l'argent comme ça à un inconnu, on ne sait jamais sur qui on peut tomber... et heureusement que je ne pars pas seule.. Bon, il faut être optimiste.
Sinon, j'avais une toute petite question. Je serai logée dans l'avenue Prada Junior, à peu près 150 m de la plage.
Je voulais savoir si des personnes connaissaient cette rue? Est-elle bien fréquentée? Se trouve t-telle à proximité des commodités ( marchés, banque, bars, shopping) ?

Oui la Rua Prado Junior est bien située a Copacabana pret de tous les services, pour la fréquentation c est ok, pourtant comme je l ai deja dit fait attention la nuit .
Pour le feux d artifice du jour de l an de toute maniere tu te dirigeras vers la plage, je ne sais pas si de ton appartement tu auras une vision sur les feux ( probablement )
Pour le transfert western union, as tu toutes les cordonnées de cette personne ? y compris telephone ?
assure toi qu il a bien reçu cette valeur, ou demande lui une confirmation par mail ..

oui tout est ok, la personne a bien reçu le paiement. Seulement j'ai un gros problème, sur les photos qui étaient présentées on ne voyait pas de chambre à coucher, juste un canapé qu'on appelle " colchonete ou bicama" et je pensais qu'il n'avait pas pu mettre en ligne le lit pour couple... mais finalement je viens de comprendre que c'est une "quitinete" et que mon ami et moi dormirons dans ce canapé-lit, SEPAREMENT! Puisqu'il ne se déplie pas en fait, il faut tirer un matelas d'1 place qui se trouve sous l'assise du canapé 1 place.. Ce n'est pas vraiment ce que j'espérais. Bon maintenant que j'ai déjà réglé l'acompte, je n'ai plus trop envie d'y aller. Ca si je suis à Rio et pour qu'on passe les fêtes dans un 18m2 et que l'on dorme chacun de son côté sur son matelas d'1 place, ce n'est pas très réjouissant et confortable.
Comment faire? Puis-je lui demander d'annuler la réservation et par conséquent le remboursement de l'acompte?

a Botafogo ya le Ace Backpackers qui est sympa, bonne equipes et bon renseignement sur la ville, l'an dernier le pieu en dortoir etait a 20 dollards la nuit pti dej inclu, y msemble kil doive avoir des chambres doubles, ya une salle commune avec billards, bar, biliotheque, internet... c bien securisé.... ya des resto et bar sympa ds le quartier (moin flash ka copacabana ou Ipanema) Rio a un service de transport bien o point c facile de ce deplacer par bus et par metro si ont ce paume ont demande o gens : "Onde esta el Olebus Para....."suivant ou ont veut aller, ya plein de quartiers super sympa (santa theresa....)en general ya pa de souci les bresilein sont super sympa, bien sur faire attention a pas atirer les convoitises.... et tudo bon......

J'arrive un peu tard sur le site, mais on lit un peu n'importe quoi ici:
Botafogo n'est pas un quartier "populaire", c'est un quartier de classes moyennes souvent jeunes. Ce n'est pas un quartier qui a un charme particulier, c'est un peu hétéroclite, mise à part le fait que c'est le quartier qu'on voit dans TOUTES les cartes postales de Rio, puisqu'il se situe exactement entre la statue du Christ Corcovado et le pain de sucre.
Contrairement à ce quon dit, il y a beaucoup de choses à y faire: par exemple:
— Un des meilleurs clubs de musique live s'y trouve, le CINEMATHEQUE JAM CLUB, où on peut écouter la musique la plus branchée, entre rock alternatif et bossa nova, et toutes les mélanges (par exemple Marcos Valle)
— Il y a bien sûr le Canecao, l'Olympia de Rio, de nombreux bars comme la Champanharia Ovelha Negro, ou la Drinkeria, le marché couvert COBAL et ses restaus, de nombreux théâtres (dont des companies invités au Festival d'Automne à Paris), le musée d'art indigène etc
— Et bien sûr, le Pain de Sucre et de magnifiques promenades autour, l'idyllique quartier d'Urca et la "Plage Rouge", Praia Vermelha
— Il y a en outre l'avantage d'être très central, à côté de Copacabana et du centre, Lapa etc.
Il n'y a aucun doute que Botafogo du point de vue vie nocturne et culture c'est BIEN MIEUX que Copacabana, où l'offre est dirigée vers les touristes.... et souvent touristes sexuels et les retraités.... Les Cariocas ne sortent JAMAIS à Copacabana, mais de plus en plus à Botafogo
Vous y trouverez des appartement moins chers aussi — moi, par exemple, cet été un 100m2 avec deux terrasses, piscine et gym dans l'immeuble pour 60€ par jour. Peut-être Leblon et Ipanema c'est mieux, mais c'est BEAUCOUP plus cher.
La Rua Prado Junior à Copacabana dont on parle ici est le centre névralgique des travestis à Rio.... c'est carrément dangereux (même si j'y suis resté 10 jours sans problème, mais j'étais toujours accompagné d'une jeune carioca, et donc on me laissait tranquille). Le seul avantage de Copacabana c'est de pouvoir aller à pied à la plage, la plage de Botafogo n'est pas propice à la baignade.
Bref, si vous voulez connaître le vrai Rio, le Rio qui bouge, et non pas le Rio des touristes, Botafogo est un excellent choix.
Pousada Tupiniquim, j'y suis resté 10 jours en Aout 2007... Moi j'ai beaucoup apprécié le quartier, classe moyenne, sûr, à 5 min du métro et des centres commerciaux, petits restos populaires et cafés à 2 pas de l'auberge. Copacabana, bof bof... La pousada, ambiance sympa, très routard, parfait pour faire la fête, rencontrer du monde, mais pas pour se reposer! Gérée par une équipe de jeunes... Dortoirs et chambres doubles. Par contre mieux vaut éviter d'aller à pieds jusqu'à Copacabana, une chance sur 2 de se faire dépouiller dans le tunnel (c'est arrivé à plusieurs clients de la pousada quand j'y étais)! Mieux vaut prendre le métro ou un bus, hyper rapide.

I’m planning a trip with my partner (no kids this time—thanks, Grandma!) for two weeks to celebrate her 40th birthday. I’ve been thinking about Chile. We’re looking at leaving around September 18, 2027, starting in the south and returning in early April.
Here’s what I had in mind:
8 nights in a van in the Lake District and the start of the Carretera Austral (up to the Chaitén area). We’re set to arrive in Puerto Montt around 2:00 PM. We don’t want to go too far south since we’re planning to explore the heart of Patagonia (Chile and Argentina) with the kids when they’re older. The idea is to spend 3 nights discovering the lakes (up to Cochamó) and 3 nights in Pumalín Park. I’ve also added two transition nights.
7 nights in the Atacama to experience another side of Chile (San Pedro), taking a domestic flight from Puerto Montt to Calama in the early afternoon. We’ll depart for France in the early evening from Santiago.
IMPORTANT NOTICE for those planning to take a bus to another city, state, or destination from Salvador!
Starting January 20, 2026, the intercity bus station Rodoviária is changing its address!
The Rodoviária is leaving the Iguatemi area and will now be located in ÁGUAS CLARAS (about twenty kilometers from downtown Salvador).
A brand-new station (the most modern in Brazil) has just been set up there, accessible by car/taxi/Uber/metro.
Allow for much more transfer time (especially during rush hours), so leave early if you're heading to Chapada Diamantina or other Brazilian cities by bus.
Remember, there are also private transfers (even French-speaking ones) that can take you directly from your hotel in Salvador to your hotel in Chapada. Sure, it’ll be more expensive, but you’ll save on transfer time and comfort.

We're planning a trip to southern Chile in November. Here's our tentative itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Santiago, then a flight the next day to Balmaceda where we'll pick up a rental car to reach Coyhaique.
Day 3: Walk in the Coyhaique National Reserve, then continue to Puerto Chacabuco. Return to Coyhaique for the second night.
Day 4: Drive to Villa Cerro Castillo for a hike in the national park. Continue to Puerto Tranquilo and stay there for 3 nights.

Day 9: Rio Baker Valley and, if possible, a glacier excursion.
Day 10: Drive to Cochrane and hike in Tamango National Reserve. We'll stay 2 nights in Cochrane.
Day 11: Walk in the Chacabuco Valley.
Day 12: Drive to Caleta Tortel. We'll stay there for 2 nights.
Day 13: Cruise in the Rio Baker delta.
Day 14: Return to Cochrane.
Day 15: Return to Balmaceda in two stages.
Day 16: Continue the return journey.
Day 17: Return the rental car and head back to Santiago.
After this, we're also planning to explore northern Santiago. I'll post about that part once I have a clearer idea of the route.

Below is our draft itinerary (with questions at each stop):
29/11: France → Colombia. Overnight in Bogotá.
30/11: Exploring Bogotá: La Candelaria and Montserrate.
01/12: Gold Museum (closed on Mondays). Drive to Zipaquirá (1.5 hrs) to visit the Salt Cathedral. Then drive to Villa de Leyva (3 hrs). Explore the town. Overnight in Villa de Leyva.
02/12: Return to Bogotá via Laguna de Guatavita (5 hrs). Is it worth the detour? Overnight in Bogotá.
03/12: Flight to Pereira. Drive to Salento. Overnight in Salento.
04/12: Cocora Valley (hike among the wax palms) followed by a drive around the area. Are there any waterfalls or other sights nearby?
05/12: Visit a coffee finca—any recommendations? Then explore the surroundings: Filandia, Manizales, waterfalls? Hot springs? Which ones?
06/12: Flight to Medellín.
07/12: Exploring Medellín: Centro, Plaza Botero, Comuna 13. How do you visit Comuna 13? Is it easy to get around Medellín? Metro? Buses?
08/12: Drive to Guatapé (2 hrs). Visit the town, stroll around the lake, then El Peñol. Overnight in Guatapé.
09/12: Return to Medellín.

I’ve sketched out a rough itinerary but I’m not sure how to arrange it—considering the climate, year-end holidays, and Carnival.
Basically, I’m thinking of the Amazon, the Northeast coast with Lençóis Maranhenses National Park (but skipping Chapada Diamantina),
Ouro Preto, Paraty, and Ilha Grande—but no Rio visit.
Is this doable in 3 months?

After lots of research and quotes, it’s the only one offering Uyuni at a reasonable price while meeting all the criteria: transfer to the border, private-room accommodation, and a very fair rate. Hi everyone, French travelers in Chile—what credit cards do you use for your various car rentals in the country? I’m traveling in September and was planning to switch my regular debit card (a VISA PREMIER in deferred debit mode) for the deposit guarantee.
My rentals are with Figal in Punta Arenas, Econautos in Arica, and Chilean Rent a Car in Temuco, and all of them want the deposit on a credit card. For me, deferred debit *should* work, but I’ve read comments saying the opposite.
How’s it actually working on the ground with these rental companies right now? Will a deferred debit card work, or not at all?
In France, banks don’t issue credit cards, right—or am I mistaken?

I’m desperately looking for info on the schedules and routes of (shared) boats to visit the islands of Lake Titicaca.
From what I’ve found, there’s a *combi* (bus) that leaves from Puno to go to Llachon. Where do you catch it? What are the schedules and frequency? Does it take about 1 hour?
Then in Llachon, you can take a boat to Amantani (45 min). Same question—where do you check for frequency and schedule?
After that, from Amantani, boats go to Taquile and then Uros. Do you have enough time to visit the islands between two boats? Frequency and schedule?
The goal is to do this tour independently (no agency) over 2 days. Thanks for any tips you might have!
I just got back from a trip to Bolivia and wow—what a wake-up call. It’s not the easiest country, but it’s absolutely stunning.
I started with Isla del Sol, perfect for easing into the altitude at a relaxed pace. Try to stay in the northern part of the island—it’s quieter and the views are insane. And the trout there? Unreal. Quick tip: bring cash in small bills; they almost never have change, and cards are rarely accepted.
Next up, La Paz. The city’s pretty wild, built in every direction. I did a few hikes in the area, including the famous Charquini Lagoon (the blue lake) at over 5,000 m—let’s just say I struggled 😅 but it was so beautiful it was totally worth it.
After that, I headed to Sajama. It’s cool, especially for the hot springs, and I stayed in Tomarapi. But honestly, if you’re short on time, you can skip it without too many regrets.
The highlight of the trip: the Salar. I did it starting from Tupiza, and I *highly* recommend going Tupiza → Uyuni. Way less crowded at the start and the landscapes are super varied. For the tour, I used SplitYourGuide to find a group, and it worked out great. Super handy for splitting costs and meeting people.
I wrapped up in Sucre—this city is gorgeous, all white, with such a chill vibe. And the salteñas + ice cream? Next level 😋
Bottom line: Bolivia’s a bit rough around the edges, sometimes exhausting (shoutout to the altitude), but it’s 1000% worth it.

I was planning to go to Réunion and stay in half-board accommodation with non-professionals, but it seems that’s not really the custom there—or maybe my budget isn’t big enough.
So, since I’ve already traveled around Ecuador and Peru, I’m now looking at Argentina, especially for its mountains (like the ones in Réunion that tempted me, even though—frustratingly—I could only admire them from below).
I plan to get around by bus and don’t know in advance where I’ll sleep, so I won’t book ahead. If I like a place, I might stay for several days.
I know that in Chile, it’s easy to find half-board accommodation, but what about in Argentina?
I’d like to stay with locals in half-board without it being a professional setup. I’m not sure if this is common practice there. It’s up to me to find someone willing to host me.
What do you think?
What would be a fair price (keeping in mind that 40 to 50 € is the max I can spend on accommodation, breakfast, and dinner)?

We’re heading to Patagonia for three weeks in November, starting from Coyhaique in Chile.
We won’t have a car, and I’m struggling to find information about transportation options for a few parts of the itinerary we’d like to do:
1) From Perito Moreno (the town, near Los Antiguos), we’d like to travel down Ruta 40 to visit Perito Moreno National Park and then cross into Chile via the Paso Roballos (at the latitude of Bajo Caracoles) to reach the road to Cochrane. Without a car, it seems we’ll need to use private agencies to get to the national park—do you have any recommendations or suggestions? Also, does anyone know if it’s possible to cross into Chile via Paso Roballos (from Bajo Caracoles) without a rental car? That is, without having to go all the way down to El Chaltén or back up toward Perito Moreno/Los Antiguos, etc.?
2) The second stretch that seems a bit tricky (though still easier, in theory) is from Caleta Tortel to Villa O’Higgins on the Chilean side. Do we have to go back through Cochrane, or are there ways to get directly from Tortel to Villa O’Higgins?
3) Finally, we’d like to hike into Argentina (El Chaltén) from O’Higgins. Any recommendations for this? Do we need to go through an agency? What’s the estimated duration of the trek?
As you’ve probably gathered, we want to visit some off-the-beaten-path spots but don’t have a car, so we’re looking for the best possible compromises.

we’re planning a round trip from San Pedro de Atacama, Chile, to Salta, Argentina, in two months. On the way there, we’ll take the northern route via Susques, Route 27, then 52. But for the return, we were thinking of taking the southern route via San Antonio de los Cobres, Route 51, then 23. Is it similar to the northern route in terms of road surface? How busy is it, and are there gas stations? Basically, should we be worried about doing it in an SUV that’s supposedly 4x4 but has regular road tires and no second spare wheel, obviously...
I’ve seen that we can stop over in San Antonio de los Cobres.

we’ll be in Calama at the end of March 2026, and I’m looking for a reliable car rental there for a 7-day road trip to Salta, Argentina. But I’m struggling with the car rental agencies in Calama because the reviews can be scary. I saw Gyg, which has great ratings, but I’m a bit wary (5/5 from 59 reviews—either the guy’s amazing or it’s fake...), but I can’t find any recent reviews on VF in general.
For Punta Arenas, I booked with Dachelet and didn’t have any issues with email exchanges.
