- Au niveau santé quelles précautions?
- Quels sont les lieux à Pékin qui vous tiennent à coeur? Où il fait bon passer du temps...
- Quelles sont les villes à visiter (à part Shangaï bien évidemment) et les moyens de transports les plus appropriés pour découvrir le reste de la Chine, ?
- J'aimerais profiter de mon année en Chine pour visiter d'autres pays d'Asie que me conseilleriez vous? Quels sont les vols intra-continentaux les plus intéressants? j'aimerais découvrir le Vietnam, le Japon nottamment...

Appartement : la gamme est très étendue, depuis les appartements bas de gamme pour Chinois, jusqu'aux résidences de très grand luxe pour expatriés. A prestations équivalentes, je pense que c'est moins cher qu'à Paris.
La nourriture est très bon marché, les transports et l'hôtellerie aussi. Les vieux routiers de la Chine se lamentent de l'augmentation des tarifs de certains sites touristiques, mais cela reste très abordable pour un Occidental. Beaucoup de musées, et non des moindres, sont gratuits, par exemple.
- Au niveau santé quelles précautions?
Pas de risque sanitaire particulier à Beijing. L'eau du robinet est en principe non potable, mais en fait c'est un problème de minéralisation excessive et non de germes nocifs. On peut laver les légumes, se brosser les dents, en boire un peu épisodiquement, sans risques.
Lit ce qu'écrit sur l'Institut Pasteur sur la Chine : leur site internet est très bien fait, et leur crédibilité est indiscutable.
Avoir une assurance santé / rapatriement, car les hôpitaux chinois ne sont vraiment pas à la hauteur (j'ai eu des témoignages concordants), et les hôpitaux étrangers sont hors de prix.
- Quels sont les lieux à Pékin qui vous tiennent à coeur? Où il fait bon passer du temps...
Achète en arrivant le guide "Beijing by foot" : pour 100 RMB, 40 fiches de promenades à pied très bien faites, dans un petit coffret cartonné.

Peut-être que Londres n'est pas une priorité, en tout cas je réponds que Shanghai n'est pas du tout une priorité. Mais cela, c'est une affaire de centres d'intérêt.

C'est une mauvaise idée. Une année, c'est extrêmement court, crois-en mon expérience d'expatrié, et la Chine est bien trop vaste et diverse pour que tu épuises le sujet. Profite au contraire de ton année en Chine pour visiter des endroits sortant un peu des sentiers battus, grâce à ton aisance croissante dans le pays. Soit dit en passant, les vols vers le Japon sont très chers, car le Japon ne délivre des visas de tourisme aux Chinois que s'ils sont en groupe de 6 personnes minimum. Il n'y a donc pas de marché pour des vols secs bon marché. J'ai renoncé à aller voir mes amis japonais depuis la Chine. Autant y aller depuis la France, après mon retour.
- Quels seraient en bref vos conseils pour une expatriation réussie?
Apprendre le chinois (bis)! J'ai fait l'effort d'apprendre cette langue à partir de zéro dès mon arrivée, sur mon temps personnel (et je ne suis pas aux 35 heures😉), et tous les jours, je me félicite d'avoir fait ce choix, car tu n'imagines pas le nombre de portes qui s'ouvrent progressivement, dont tu ne soupçonnes même pas l'existence. Le jour venu, je peux te recommander par MP le centre de cours de chinois auquel je dois une immense reconnaissance.
Fuis les rencontres entre Français (ou étrangers), qui rassemblent souvent des gens qui ne cherchent pas à comprendre le pays, mais à recréer un microcosme occidental et ne t'apprendront rien.

Bonne chance, la Chine et les Chinois te donneront beaucoup, à la mesure des efforts que tu feras pour les comprendre (ce qui n'empêche pas de conserver un esprit critique).
Et en effet c'est décidé je me met au plus vite au chinois, je commencerais cet été pour acquérir un tout petit peu de vocabulaire et sinon, Marathon merci, je veux bien l'adresse du centre de cours chinois en MP!
Nota : à la librairie étrangère de Wangfujing, on trouve tous les guides LP en anglais sur le monde entier (un rayonnage entier de couleur bleue), tous... sauf ceux sur la Chine, car ils ont l'outrecuidance de faire figurer Taiwan comme un pays étranger. Je ne me souviens pas s'il y en a d'autres éditeurs étrangers. A acheter avant de partir, pour éviter d'être prise au dépourvu une fois sur place.

Cela dépend du temps et des moyens dont tu disposes. Le plan "aller en train de nuit le vendredi soir / retour en avion le dimanche soir" permet de profiter au maximum du week-end, en ayant dormi dans ton lit avant de reprendre le travail le lundi matin. A condition que le train de nuit ne soit pas complet - les places partent vite.
Attention aux trois périodes majeures de congés en Chine : Nouvel An (vers fin janvier), première semaine de mai, première semaine d'octobre.
Toute la Chine est en vacances à ce moment là, donc transports pris d'assaut et tarifs des hôtels au plafond. Si toi aussi tu es en congés, c'est le bon moment pour visiter à fond Beijing et ses alentours, et le seul moment où il peut être justifié d'aller faire un tour à l'étranger (pas le Vietnam ni Taiwan au Nouvel an chinois, qui y est fêté également)
Je pensais en effet peut-être prendre un appart du coté du quartier des ambassades sachant que le lycée français où je vais travailler s'y trouve donc me voilà confortée dans cette idée! me trouve plus qu'à trouver l'appart maintenant...

On trouve facilement des sites internet d'agences immobilières pour se faire une idée des prix (au moins dans la catégorie "logements pour étrangers et/ou Chinois ayant les moyens"), meublés ou vides. Attention au fait que la loi Carrez n'existe pas en Chine : les surfaces indiquées incluent un pourcentage des parties communes, et il n'y a pas de règle précise à ce sujet. J'ai mesuré au dm2 près mon appartement : la superficie indiquée dans mon contrat de location est exactement 150% de la surface que j'ai mesurée !

After living for many years in the West (Belgium, Italy, Switzerland),
I’ve decided to return and settle in Cameroon, my home country.
