J'ai beaucoup de mal à préparer un circuit de 20 jours au départ d’Helsinki jusqu'en Laponie (nous partirions le 1er septembre à condition de le pouvoir bien sûr ^^)
Il n'y a pas énormément de carnets de voyage et lorsque j'en trouve, les destinations ne sont jamais les mêmes et je suis donc un peu perdue pour organiser l'itinéraire.
Nous sommes déjà aller à Kittila passer le réveillon en 2016 : ce fut un coup de coeur ! et nous avons décider d'explorer ce pays l'automne étant amoureux bien évidemment de la nature et des animaux.
L'idée de dormir dans un chalet au bord d'un lac serait tout simplement magique !
et peut on bivouaquer éventuellement quelques fois ?
Nous lourions donc une voiture à Helsinki (en y restant 2 jours).
Pourriez vous m'aider et me donner les incontournables des parcs ou lacs à ne pas manquer sur la route jusqua'u nord .. nous resterions 2 jours à chaque étape à peu près.
Nous avons pensé à la location d'un camping car mais nous ne pourrions alors faire l’expérience de loger dans chalet ..
Nous avions prévu de partir en juin avec notre van aménagé pour traverser la Finlande, le projet était de rejoindre tout au nord la frontière norvégienne, et de descendre par la Norvège. Comme les frontières ne nous sont pas ouvertes à temps, et quarantaine actuellement en Finlande, nous avons pu reporter notre réservation de ferry d'Allemagne à Helsinki, à 2021. Je vous mets ci dessous la partie finlandaise de l'itinéraire , que nous espérons bien pouvoir faire l'été prochain, c'est donc sous toute réserve, puisque pas encore testé, mais cela peut vous donner des idées.

La Finlande est un pays surprenant, surtout par ses habitants... Nous y sommes allés trois fois, ayant découvert la Laponie un peu par hasard ( il pleuvait en Norvége donc à Roros direction la Suéde et la Laponie). Les fjords ont laissé la place à taiga ou toundra.

Une fois qu'on a dépassé Savonlinna, on rentre dans la forêt et c'est un peu monotone jusqu'à Ivalo, mais quel dépaysement. Après monter jusqu'au cap Nord ou Kirkenes c'est affaire de gout et surtout de temps.
Nous restons à la disposition des curieux en redisant que notre but de voyage ( Berlevag de la Babette de K Blixen ) a été atteint et magnifiquement.

Hier, j'ai consulté le prix des logements qui sont quand même assez coûteux donc nous avons émis la possibilité de louer un Camping car (l'avons fait déjà 5 fois et adorons ce mode de voyage) ; en le louant à Helsinki au mois de septembre (par Campada) , cela nous reviendrait pas trop cher (1500 euros pour 15 jours).
Et finalement, il n'y a que 1200 km de Helsinki à Inari .. donc en diesel cela ne reviendrait pas trop cher ..
Pouvez vous me donner quelques renseignements à ce sujet svp :
Y a t il beaucoup d'endroits sur la route pour évacuer les eaux grises et faire le plein d'eau ?
et des campings pour parfois brancher le courant ?
apparemment bivouaquer semble possible ?
J'ai commandé le guide du routard Finlande qui pourra m'aider également.
Il y a plusieurs app très utiles pour trouver soit des campings, soit des emplacements de bivouac ou des lieux de vidange. Je pense que vous devez connaître Park4night, et Campingcar-infos. En plus pour le nord de l'Europe je vous recommande l'app NorCamp. On ne peut consulter qu'un pays à la fois, il faut le sélectionner dans "activate countries" il y a le Danemark, la Suède, la Finlande, l'Islande et la Norvège. Il y a aussi Stellplatz, et encore Womo-stellplatz.eu en français comme son nom ne l'indique pas, qui couvrent toute l'Europe.
Nous sommes allés 2 fois en Finlande mais c'était en hiver, en Laponie, nous n'y sommes pas encore allé avec le campingcar. donc je n'ai pas prêté attention aux campings et possibilités de vidange

Nous sommes en fourgon, comme vu sur les photos, donc autonomie et souplesse, aucun souci en Finlande et Scandinavie.
Pour les pleins d'eau et les vidanges, pas de souci non plus pour le faire tous les 3 jours avec les campings et les stations services. A voir aussi sur les embarcadéres et aussi aux endroits où les Finlandais lavent leur tapis ( original); demander la possibilité permet d'établir le contact .
Les bivouacs ne posent aucun problème en dehors des réserves naturelles. De plus les Finlandais sont hospitaliers et quand on peut échanger c'est savoureux. Nous avons ainsi trouvé notre "Bagdad. café" près de Leppajarvi.
Pour ce qui est des guides, j'aime aussi Lonely planet et les Petit futé et leur version e-book offerte. A voir celui de Laponie. Quant aux cartes j'ai sur la tablette et mon smartphone les cartes Openstreet en plus des Michelin papier.
Pour la route, entre Savonlinna et la cap nord, longue et peu variée si j'ose dire, nous avons un peu trop musardé en voulant se rapprocher de la frontière russe et du territoire des ours. Mais c'est vrai que la rencontre avec le peuple silencieux et les souvenirs de la guerre d'hiver sont émouvants.
On peut éviter ( à notre sens) Rovaniemi près du supermaché du père Noel... Tout comme les "mines d'or".
Je partage les conseils de Sissy pour les appli de campings et les sites.

Nous n'avons jamais loué de campingcar en Europe, ayant notre propre fourgon qui ressemble comme un frère à celui d'Alain. Mais j'ai loué aux USA pour l'un de nos voyages en campingcar là bas, par l'intermédiaire d'une société allemande, qui loue dans le monde entier, donc entre autre en Finlande: https://www.camperboerse.de/europa/finnland. Lorsque nous avons été en Norvège avec notre fourgon nous avons croisé beaucoup de campingcars loués chez eux, c'était toujours écrit en grand sur le campingcar, beaucoup d'allemands en avaient loué.Je n'ai aucune expérience avec eux, donc je vous les signale sans pouvoir vous donner un avis à leur propos.

Je suis maintenant persuadée que cela nous reviendra moins cher de louer un camping car que de réserver un logement (Comme nous le voulons au bord d’un lac ☺️) à chaque étape ... c’est pas donné même sur Airbnb à moins de prendre un basic sans rien du tout et pas bien placé ..
Et il faudrait donc en plus réserver une voiture .. nous avons de la chance d’être hors saison, du coup c’est beaucoup moins cher
Il y aurait aussi peut-être la solution des cabins dans les campings. Je n'ai pas creusé la question en Finlande, tous les campings n'en n'ont pas. En Suède et en Norvège quasiment tous les campings ont des stugor et des hytter que ceux qui voyagent en voiture apprécient Mais ce n'est pas moi qui vais dénigrer le camping car, j'ai tellement envie de pouvoir repartir avec notre fourgon....

Peut-être qu'une partie de notre récit pourrait t'intéresser car au cours d'un voyage plus large englobant aussi le nord de la Norvège et de la Suède, nous avons passé quelques jours dans le nord de la Finlande de Inari à Muonio (à peu près). Nous y étions en camping-car loué en Norvège.
Nous avons fait à chaque étape des randonnées notamment sur le sommet de quelques tunturis, ces "montagnes" finlandaises qui culminent entre 500 et 800 m d'altitude.
Les pages concernant la Finlande commencent à "De la frontière russo-norvégienne à la Finlande, de Kirkenes à Inari " et se poursuivent avec les 2 pages suivantes.

Pour cette année donc en septembre 2020, nous avions préparé et réservé un voyage en Afrique du Sud en voiture en arrivant à Johannesburg, retour Cap Town-Nice (nombreuses étapes dont le Kruger...)
Mais, après avoir longuement réfléchi, nous avons décidé de tout annuler .. pourtant ce pays n'est presque pas touché mais nous avons joué la sécurité... Cela a été un déchirement !!! tout était réservé : du vol (Qatar qui m'a remboursé illico alors que je n'avais pas pris d'assurance annulation) aux 24 nuits (résa booking, airbnb, sanparks pour Kruger et aussi dans les autres parcs ..) + le vol interne Durban- le Cap.. mon circuit était fin prêt pfffff .. nous sommes vraiment dégoûtés.....🙁

Voir à ce sujet notre premier voyage (2014), principalement en Norvège, depuis la région parisienne jusqu'aux îles Lofoten, en louant un CC à Hanovre (par l'intermédiaire de Cooldrive).
Le second voyage (2016) en Norvège, Suède, Finlande, toujours en CC, nous avions réservé auprès d'un loueur indépendant basé à Bergen qui nous a livré le véhicule à Tromso (Compass bobiler ?), mais je ne sais pas s'il existe toujours.
Pour cette année donc en septembre 2020, nous avions préparé et réservé un voyage en Afrique du Sud
Nous aurions dû partir demain à Madère ! 😕
visite de la Laponie en hiver et cela avait été un véritable coup de cœur !
Nous avons également beaucoup aimé le nord de la Norvège en hiver (2018).
Donc en tout nous avons fait 3 voyages dans ces contrées nordiques ! 🙂
Je vais voir tout cela .. en CC, cela me paraît maintenant évidemment même si les petits chalets en bord de lac avec sauna et barque serait très tentant !!
Nous regardons aussi pour l'achat d'un CC pas trop cher et sans trop de km 😊qu'on pourrait garder 10 ans (15 000 km pour chaque voyage à peu près).
C'est un gros budget la location donc à étudier aussi ...

We’re planning a short trip at the end of July to explore the legendary mountains and valleys of the Bernese Oberland: round trip from Nancy (Swiss highway vignette planned), 2 nights in a room with a small kitchen in Adelboden, then 2 nights in a hotel at the Gletscherblick in Grindelwald, both with half-board included.
Could you share some tips on the best road routes to take, as well as some walking hikes (we’re not as fit as we used to be, so nothing longer than 2-3 hours)? Maybe also 1 or 2 cable car rides—I was thinking of Oeschinensee Lake above Kandersteg and the First gondola above Grindelwald for better panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau... all while keeping it doable with our schedule. We’ve ruled out the "premium" trip up to the Jungfraujoch for this time.
I’m also guessing that paying to access Wengen or Mürren only makes sense if we’re staying there for a few days, right?
- Is the road through the narrow valley of the White Lütschine toward Lauterbrunnen and beyond still worth it in terms of views and scenery?

I visited the Faroe Islands in late March 2026 for about ten days. I was invited by a friend who lives near Tórshavn, so I don’t have any info on tourist accommodations or car rentals. Still, I’d like to share a few thoughts about my trip:
- Before leaving, I consulted travel guides and blogs. I was surprised by how repetitive and unoriginal the featured sites were. This leads hurried travelers to follow the same overcrowded routes, which can annoy locals. I found that all Faroese villages were interesting—they reflect the country’s identity, even without the iconic grass-roofed houses. Those are indeed harmonious and beautiful, but they feel like an exotic cliché. For activities, I loved the lively ports that keep the country running.
- I was annoyed by the paid trails in tourist spots. Locals explained that these paths cross private land, and owners are responsible for maintenance and safety. There are plenty of free trails, too—signs at the start detail their features. While not alarmist, the extreme and unpredictable weather is a key factor to consider before setting out.
- The wind’s strength really impressed me. The architecture, with doors and windows opening outward to prevent gusts from blowing roofs off, speaks to the harsh climate. Some days, relentless rain and squalls made going outside unappealing. I realized that in this country, it’s best to plan for flexible indoor days.
- Distances are relatively short. I was happy to be based near Tórshavn because it was easy to explore one or more places in a day. The roads are in great condition. In late March, diesel was 2 €. Tunnel tolls can add up (~26 € per crossing), making a fixed base less practical than I’d thought.
- Everyone agrees: the landscapes are breathtaking. Nature feels untamed here—except for the short grass, thanks to all the woolly sheep.
- The flight from Paris to the Faroe Islands (and back) was long in March—11 hours with three legs: Paris-Amsterdam, Amsterdam-Copenhagen, Copenhagen-Vágar. In bad weather, Vágar Airport can close, causing delays. During tourist season, Atlantic Airways offers a direct Paris-Faroe Islands flight, which is more comfortable and cheaper.
- I found a book recommendation in a guide that fascinated me after my trip: *Les collectionneurs d'images* by Joanes Nielsen. Through its sometimes caricatured characters, it offers a glimpse into Faroese mentalities from the 1950s to 1970s—attitudes that likely persist today.
In conclusion, I’ve traveled a lot and I’m tired of destinations that all start to look the same. The Faroe Islands were a delight—a country stunning in its landscape, climate, and culture, where tourism has barely altered its authenticity.

We’re heading to Bavaria from May 13 to 23, with a side trip to Austria.
Here’s our itinerary:
Day 1: Brussels-Munich
Day 2: Munich
Day 3: Munich and departure for Salzburg
We’ll be staying three nights in Salzburg.
Then we’ll head to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where we’ll stay for five nights.
Visiting Munich and Salzburg isn’t too tricky.
Once in Garmisch, we’re planning a day in Innsbruck, a day for Neuschwanstein Castle, and the rest is still up in the air.
What’s really got me stumped is that we’d love to see Königssee Lake—everyone says it’s a must-see.
We’d also like to visit the Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus), where the landscapes are supposedly stunning.
This would either be a round trip while we’re in Salzburg or on the way between Salzburg and Garmisch, but I’m guessing it’s impossible to do the drive from Salzburg to Garmisch, the Eagle’s Nest, *and* Königssee Lake all in one day.
Plus, the Alpine route between Salzburg and Garmisch seems prettier than the highway.
But honestly, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with the planning.
We should’ve added a stop between Salzburg and Garmisch, but the hotels are already booked.

We’re planning a trip to Finland and Norway this summer, starting in Oulu to explore Lapland, heading up to the North Cape, and then making our way down to Bergen.
This route means renting a car in Finland and dropping it off in Norway. My initial searches are showing rental rates that are... astronomical—about three times the price compared to returning it at the starting point.
I’m guessing I’m not the only one wanting to visit both countries. Are there any great tips to drastically reduce the cost of renting a car?

I’m sharing my draft itinerary with you because I just booked our flight tickets, and I feel like it’s quite late in the season. So, I’d like to be sure about my stops before reserving the hotels. I’ll be traveling alone with my two adult children. We want to prioritize outdoor walks, avoid too many indoor visits (both for budget and preference), and not spend too much time on the road.
D1: Arrival at 9 AM in Malaga, day in Malaga and overnight stay
D2: Head straight to Nerja (1-hour drive) and spend the night there
D3: Head straight to Granada (1.5-hour drive), spend the day and night there
D4: Granada. Visit the Alhambra (Nasrid Palaces tour at 5 PM) and spend the night
D5: Head to Ronda (2.5-hour drive) and spend the night
D6: White Villages and overnight in Ronda
D7: Head straight to the Costa del Sol (e.g., Estepona), spend the day and night there
D8: Return to Malaga to catch our flight
There you go! This itinerary takes into account that we’d like to do a circuit starting from Seville in a few years. That said, it’d be a shame to miss something doable from Malaga.
Questions:
Since the Alhambra visit is only at 5 PM, and we’d already have the day to explore Granada, would arriving the day before be a mistake? Or should we skip this day and dedicate it elsewhere (Costa del Sol? Head toward Tabernas?)? The old town appeals to me, but maybe the Sacromonte neighborhood isn’t essential...
Same question for Ronda: should we dedicate a full day to it, or combine Ronda and the White Villages in one day?
Note that we love wandering around villages outside, so that might answer my question! :)
Final question: Is it better to rent the car at Malaga Airport or in the city? If we rent at the airport, we’d need a hotel with parking, which doesn’t seem easy. Or stay outside the city and park for free near the center if possible? I’ve read comments about taking a taxi to Malaga and then picking up the rental car at the airport the next morning. The taxi would really need to be affordable...
