Je demande votre avis sur ma situation qui me parait particulière et étrange.Je suis Français travailleur immigré au canada depuis 3 ans.
Afin de faire des economies pour voir ma famille sur la période des fetes j'ai décidé de prendre un vol aller New York-Paris et un vol retour Paris-New-York.
Au début je devais me rendre a New York en voiture sauf qu'au dernier moment j'ai décidé de prendre un vol Montréal-New York sans prendre le retour New-York-Montréal.( Je comptais utiliser le BUS ou acheter un autre billet pour le retour au dernier moment n'ayant pas l'argent encore).
Ayant besoin d'une ESTA j'ai fait une demande pour mon passeport 1 qui expirait au mois d'avril. Cette demande a été accepté expirant donc au mois d'avril. Entre temps(3 jours plus tard) j'ai été chercher mon nouveau passeport 2. J'ai donc compris que je devais refaire une nouvelle demande de ESTA l'ancien passeport étant annulé. La demande a elle aussi été accepté automatiquement le 15 Décembre. A ce moment la j'ai 2 ESTA valides mais 1 passeport uniquement utilisable bien sur.
Je suis donc parti le 17 Décembre et je n'ai eu aucun problème pour le passage a l'immigration en transit. Mon visa Waiver a été validé pour 3 mois. Tampon dans le nouveau passeport.
Je suis arrivé a Paris et 5 heures plus tard je reçois un mail comme quoi mon ESTA a changé de statut. Mon voyage est désormais refusé. Sauf que je suis déjà passé et mon waiver tamponné. Mon ESTA 1 sur Passeport annulé elle est toujours accepté.
Aujourd, hui je suis en France et bien entendu je devais repasser par les USA pour mon retour.
Je me sens comme bloqué en France désormais.
Qu'en pensez vous ? Ma démarche vous semble t-elle normale ? Comprenez vous que cela ai pu paraître louche pour un agent d'immigration ? Mon visa Waiver actuelle valide jusqu'au 17 Mars est t-il invalidé lui aussi. Qu'est ce que je risque a repasser par new York ?

Ton ESTA n'a pas été annulé par un agent d'immigration, mais par le "système informatique".
La machine s'est retrouvée avec 2 ESTA pour la même personne (même nom, même prénom, même nationalité....), mais 2 passeports différents. La 2ème demande a été annulée automatiquement.
Mais tu as vérifié sur le site de l'ESTA si ta demande a effectivement été annulée ?
A ce moment la j'ai 2 ESTA valides mais 1 passeport uniquement utilisable bien sur.
A ce moment là tu n'avais plus que 1 ESTA valide. Le 1er ESTA étant rattaché à un passeport qui n'existait plus, ton ESTA même valide ne te servait plus à rien.
Mon visa Waiver actuelle valide jusqu'au 17 Mars est t-il invalidé lui aussi.
L'ESTA n'est pas invalidé (les autorités américaines ne savent pas que ton passeport a été annulé) mais comme dit plus haut, comme le passeport est invalidé, l'ESTA l'est également.
Qu'est ce que je risque a repasser par new York ?
L'ESTA étant obligatoire pour les arrivées par air, il faut refaire une nouvelle demande en répondant OUI à la question 7 (vous a t-on déjà refusé un visa...).
Si la nouvelle demande est refusée, il faudra faire une demande de visa..... 😕

- de ne pas pouvoir embarquer,
- d'être refoulé en arrivant aux USA....

Si ton ESTA est effectivement invalidé, le plus simple (pas le moins cher) sera de racheter un nouveau billet d'avion, un vol direct France-Canada.

Ce n'est pas un visa, c'est une exception de visa.
Et en prenant l'avion pour la France, l'immigration américaine a été informée de ton départ par la compagnie aérienne.
Lors de ton retour aux Etats Unis, une nouvelle période de 90 jours sera accordée (ou pas).
Il faut forcement un ESTA pour chaque passage?
L'ESTA est valable 2 ans ou jusqu'à la date d'expiration du passeport. Mais dans ton cas, ton passeport a été annulé et l'ESTA qui va avec (même n° de passeport) ne te sert donc plus à rien.
Pour aller aux Etats Unis, il te faut un ESTA avec le même n° de passeport que le passeport qui te servira pour le voyage.

Ca ne pose pas de problème (j'ai changé de passeport et d'ESTA l'année dernière). Dans ton cas, je pense que le problème vient du fait des demandes très rapprochées.
Il y a plusieurs discussions sur le forum de personnes qui se sont vus refusées l'ESTA après avoir répondu OUI à une des questions avez-vous déjà.... Elles ont appelé un n° aux Etats Unis et ont réussi à faire annuler l'annulation. Je vais essayer de retrouver le n°.
Une chose que j'aimerais préciser. Un ESTA ou un AVE ne sont pas des visas, ni des mini-visas. C'est très important de le comprendre. Ce sont des autorisations de voyage aériens vers les USA/Canada. Quand on pose la question à savoir si un visa t'a déjà été refusé, tu ne dois pas tenir compte des refus d'ESTA, car ce ne sont pas des visas et tu dois répondre NON. Tu dois tenir compte des refus de visa à l'ambassade (un vrai visa, comme un J-1, B1/B2, etc.) et non de l'ESTA. Alors dans ce cas si tu as eu des réponses négatives de l'ambassade pour une demande de visa ou une demande d'entrée sur le territoire, il faut répondre OUI.
Et comme vous le dites bien l'ESTA n'est pas un visa mais une exception de visa.
La question 7 est formulé ainsi(Je ne sais plus quoi penser) :
VOUS A-T-ON DÉJÀ REFUSÉ UN VISA AMÉRICAIN DONT VOUS AVEZ FAIT LA DEMANDE AVEC VOTRE PASSEPORT ACTUEL OU UN ANCIEN PASSEPORT(NON clairement) OU VOUS-A-T-ON UN JOUR REFUSÉ L'ENTRÉE AUX ÉTATS-UNIS OU RETIRÉ VOTRE DROIT D'ADMISSION À UN POINT D'ENTRÉE AMÉRICAIN ?
En cherchant, tu trouveras d'autres discussions. Ce sont généralement des erreurs dans les réponses, mais essaye de téléphoner ou d'envoyer un message. Peut-être que ça s'arrangera pour toi aussi. Je pense que le problème vient uniquement des demandes trop rapprochées avec 2 n° de passeports différents.

Le fait de présenter une nouvelle demande avec des informations fausses pour obtenir une autorisation de voyage aura pour résultat que le voyageur ne sera plus jamais autorisé à se rendre aux États-Unis dans le cadre du Visa Waiver Program.
S'il veut retourner aux Etats-Unis par voie terrestre, lors du remplissage du formulaire à la douane, il est indiqué qu'il doit là aussi dire s'il a eu un refus d'ESTA??? Ou sinon, les douaniers peuvent-ils le savoir???
Depuis 3 ans j'ai passé 6x la frontière terrestre Canada USA... à chaque fois l'agent d'immigration nous à demander si nous avions un ESTA.. il vérifiait dans son systeme.. la 1ère fois je pensais que mon ESTA n'était plus valide donc j'ai répondu Non il m'a dit si Si j'ai vérifié pas de probleme. J'imagine que les cas de figures sont les suivants de par mon experience:
- Pas d'ESTA , jamais eu d'ESTA pas de problème pour passer la frontière terrestre. Le dossier va être étudier par l'agent au passage et vous faire payer 6$ plus papier vert a remplir.
- ESTA valide , Pas de soucis pour passer la frontière .L'ESTA aide juste l'agent a prendre sa decision.
- ESTA expiré mais anciennement valide. Pas de soucis c'est comme ne pas avoir d'ESTA.
- ESTA déjà invalidé dans le passé mais accepté ensuite.L'agent peut tilter et poser plus de questions. L'entrée ne sera pas interdite juste qu'il faudra peut être négocier un peu plus et expliquer le 1er refus.
- ESTA sur le passeport en cours refusé jamais accepté -> L'agent va vraiment se méfier car le dossier n'a pas été accepté par hasard. Il y a forcement une raison quelque chose qui n'a pas été fait normalement ou que vous êtes sur une blacklist quelconque.
Quoi qu'il arrive le passage se fait avec un interrogatoire de 5 a 20min et la decision finale revient a l'agent. Aussi ce n'est pas la douane. Il y a la douane(Pour les Marchandises) et l'immigration. (2 choses différentes)

Je pense qu'il vaut mieux essayer de régler ce problème avec un interlocuteur humain. Si vous faites une nouvelle demande ESTA en répondant qu'il vous a déjà été refusé, vous vous embarquez dans une procédure de visa, or il s'agit ici plutôt d'un automatisme informatique.
J'ai eu besoin une fois de les joindre pour une question, j'ai eu la réponse très vite et très aimablement.

I’m planning a trip from France to Alberta/British Columbia, and I’m unsure about which bank card to use for the security deposit with the rental company (I’m thinking of going with AVIS).
I contacted Avis Canada, and they told me a credit card is absolutely required. I asked my bank for a credit card (a *real* credit card), but they only offered me a deferred debit card.
My question: For a rental with Avis Canada, is a Gold International Mastercard deferred debit card usable for the security deposit needed to finalize the rental? Is the "CREDIT" label enough? (Some cards say "CREDIT" and others say "CARTE DE CREDIT"—seems minor, but it’s actually a big deal in how the card works.)
I’ve seen conflicting info everywhere I look... My bank says it’s *usually* okay (the deferred debit card), while Avis Canada insists it *must* be a credit card, not debit—even when I mention the deferred debit card.
I know the whole credit card concept is already confusing, and on top of that, some sites say a deferred debit card counts as a credit card, while others say it doesn’t.

I’ll explain my situation.
Unfortunately, I lost my passport, and I only realized it two weeks before my departure for a humanitarian mission in Libya. I’m a nurse, and this mission really means a lot to me.
First, I applied for an emergency passport, but it was denied by the Val-d'Oise prefecture on the grounds that a planned humanitarian mission wasn’t considered an urgent reason.
So, I submitted a biometric passport application on July 20th. Since then, the tracking has been stuck, and the town hall can’t (or won’t) give me any clear information. Every time I call, I get a different story. The last update I received was that the passport had been produced since July 23rd with a status of "about to be shipped," but nothing since then.
I’ve managed to push my departure back to next Tuesday at the latest, but I’m starting to really panic.
Have any of you submitted an application around July 20th, especially in Val-d'Oise (95)? How long did you wait between the passport being produced and it being available at the town hall? Is it normal for this step to take this long?
This mission means so much to me. I had everything organized, and I’m also supposed to attend a friend’s wedding right after near the border.

I’m a bit embarrassed because I need to travel to Quebec from February 27th to March 13th. I’m a regular visitor to Canada—this will be my 10th trip since 1997, plus a year as a permanent resident (2000–2001) and a cross-country run from Vancouver to Halifax in 2011. So, I’m definitely not a terrorist!
But since our last trip in July 2015, they’ve introduced this eTA thing. Seems more like a way to make money than to actually secure Canada, if you ask me, but anyway, that’s not the point.
I applied for an eTA for myself, my wife, and our two kids. They all got approved within hours, but not me! I was asked to create a GC key and then an IRCC account, which I did. Normally, you get news within 72 hours, but since Monday, January 15th, nothing!
In the "message" section of the account, it says "explanation letter (required)" with a deadline of January 25th, but I can’t find any explanation anywhere—despite searching the Canadian government website and Google. No links, nothing!
I’ve emailed them but haven’t heard back yet. I’m thinking of calling the Canadian embassy in Paris tomorrow. Even though I’m not stressing yet, it’d be a bummer if everyone else got to go without me!
If anyone’s had this issue before or knows what this explanation letter is about, I’d love to hear more.

I’ve tried my hotel, the Lotte Hotel (which is well-known in Seoul), the airport—basically, I’ve entered at least 20 addresses, all rejected....

I bought a one-way flight (Ryanair) and a return flight (EasyJet) to spend a week in Morocco in April.
My passport expires 3 weeks after the return date.
Some websites say the passport must be valid for 3 months at the time of entry.
However, it will still be valid both on entry and return, but its validity will only be 1 month at the time of entry (and 3 weeks on the return date, everything prepaid).
It's an individual family trip.
The consulate can't give me an answer—they're still looking into it (really!)
Last year, we stayed for 3 months in Thailand, north of Khao Lak, and were able to benefit from the 2-month visa exemption, renewable for one month by going to Takua Pa to validate a 1-month extension (1,900 baht).
This year, it’s a disaster for us—not only were we planning a 4-month stay, adding a visa run in between (which some say is quite risky), but the law is apparently changing in the coming months with the return of the 1-month exemption (plus the usual 1-month option). So, we looked into applying for a 6-month multiple-entry visa, allowing a maximum of 60 consecutive days in Thailand. However, I can’t find anywhere the minimum time required outside Thailand between two stays—do any of you have an idea?

We’ll soon be moving to Madagascar long-term.
As a French national, I need to obtain a short-stay visa that can be converted to a long-stay one. To do this, I have to send the required documents to the Madagascar embassy in Paris.
No issues with that procedure so far.
If I get this visa, once I arrive in Madagascar, I’ll need to provide the same documents to the Ministry of the Interior in Anosy. I’m trying to find an email address or website for the Ministry to check which documents I need to submit (I think they ask for additional ones).

I’d like to know if anyone has already applied for a private visa to Russia with an invitation from a Russian resident.
I traveled earlier this year with an e-visa, but since I want to stay longer, I’ll be visiting my friend who lives in eastern Russia.
For the visa application, does the invitation need to be on an official paper form issued by the Russian ministry? And most importantly, do I need to present the original for the application, or is there an electronic version that can be sent directly to the consulate in France?

I filled out the B2 form to apply for a visa, created an account on Atvis to pay the visa fees and schedule a meet-up, but every time I try to pay with my Boursobank Visa 1st card, they refuse the payment with a message telling me to check my details (address), even though everything is correct. Does anyone know why this is happening, or maybe they don’t accept Visa cards? Are you aware of this?

There are rumors going around about the ETA: it must absolutely be on your smartphone in the "ETA" app.
Paper documents might not be accepted.

Just a question that’s probably been asked before (though usually the other way around for my situation :))
My wife and I are heading to the US.
On her ticket, it only has her maiden name (e.g., Martine DUPOND).
On her passport, it’s written as Martine DUPOND épouse AVRY.
No issues for travel, I hope I did the right thing with the ticket?
Then for the ESTA, is just Martine DUPOND enough, or do I need to include the "épouse AVRY" part like on the passport?

I’m spending a few days in San Pedro de Atacama (Chile) and would like to cross the Argentine border to make a loop toward Salta and then return to Chile to drop off the rental car.
I’ve heard that crossing the border can be tricky!
Is it possible with a rental company’s authorization? Which company, and at what cost?

I saw on the French Embassy in Peru’s website and the Peruvian Consulate in Paris’s site that the rule is to have a passport valid for 6 months *after the arrival date* (not the return date).
I arrive in Peru on August 13, 2019 (for about twelve days), and my passport is valid until February 16, 2020.
That’s 6 months and 3 days after my arrival date in Peru. In my opinion, I’m good to go.
But could I still be denied entry if they say I don’t cover the return date or that I’m too close to the 6-month mark?
