Mon compagnon est un ressortissant indien (du Cachemire), nous nous connaissons depuis 7 ans. Nous avons déjà fait une demande de visa il y a 5 ans, mais elle s'était soldé par un refus de l'ambassade de France à Delhi.
Nous souhaiterions refaire une demande en Avril prochain, mais nous angoissons un peu.
Lors de la première demande (il y a 5 ans), le dossier était complet, l'entretien s'était bien passé, j'étais sur place pour rencontrer les agents de l'ambassade, mais à notre grand désarroi, le dossier de mon compagnon a été refusé, sans réelle motivation.
Depuis, dans son passeport figure un gros tampon "REFUSED". Cette demande de visa représente beaucoup de frais pour nous (billets d'avion, assurance médicale, logement à Delhi pour attendre l'entretien, ...). D'où nos angoisses et noeuds à l'estomac.
De plus, nous ne savons pas si il faut mentionner que nous sommes en couple. L'attestation d'accueil serait faite par mes parents, je n'ai pas de logement en France à mon nom, je n'ai pas non plus de ressources fixes en France, car depuis 4 ans je vis 6 mois par an en Inde et 6 mois en France, vivant en France de petites périodes de travail...
Nous attendons avec beaucoup d'impatience vos témoignages afin de nous rassurer et de rendre "béton" notre dépôt de demande de visa.
Bonjour, je suis pessimiste, si la situation n'a pas changé depuis 5 ans le refus sera de nouveau confirmé. Surtout que depuis 5 ans les conditions se sont renforcées. Il faudrait finir par faire un choix, mariage et pays de résidence.

A l'automne 2006 notre dossier de mariage auprès du consulat de Bombay était complet, au regard des documents que nous devions fournir. Malheureusement lors des entretiens au consulat, on nous a annoncé, que l'acte de naissance de mon ami n'était plus considéré comme "légalisé" par le gouvernent français et depuis on n'en voit pas le bout (changement de procédure régulièrement au sein des ambassades et consulats ; trouble politique au Kashmir, nous empêchant de faire des démarches ; etc...) 😠
En bref c'est la galère... Et la grosse angoisse.
Nous voulons que mon ami vienne ENFIN en France, rencontrer ma famille, amis et vivre, éprouver la vie française.
Nous restons motivés, mais avons plus que besoin de conseils et d'aide...😉
si la situation de ton ami n'a pas changé, le risque de refus est elevé en plus que vous avez déposé un dossier en vue de mariage.
ce que j'ai du mal a comprendre, la difficulté pour obtenir le ccm. il suffit de fournir tous les documents demandés (en faisant traduire par un traducteur assermenté et le cas echeant en faisant tamponner par les affaires etrangeres indiennes pour que le consulat francais puisse accepter)
Nous n'avons pas obtenu le fameux CCM comme tu l'appelles (et merci de me prendre pour une andouille au passage !! Nous n'avons pas passé plusieurs heures au Consulat pour prendre le thé avec l'agent du service état civil.)
L'acte de naissance de mon ami n'étant pas "légalisé", c'est en stand by depuis.
En Septembre 2006, lors de notre entretien, ils attendaient de nous :que nous retournions de Bombay à Delhi, pour voir avec le service état civil, qui était habilité au kashmir pour rendre légal ce fameux acte de naissance, que nous allions au Kashmir ensuite faire "légaliser" le document, puis que nous revenions à Delhi le faire contre-signer, puis rapporter le document à Bombay...Pas possible pour nous à ce moment-là de le faire, et quand j'ai contacté le service état civil à Delhi, on m'a gentiment répondu que pour le Kashmir, ils n'avaient pas d'infos...
Depuis, quand mon ami retourne au KAshmir ou quitte le Kashmir, nous nous renseignons auprès de l'Ambassade à Delhi, les procédures sont à chaque fois différentes sans vraiment d'informations claires (du moins pour le Kashmir). De plus, depuis 3 ans la situation au Kashmir est terrible, il est très difficile de rencontrer des officiels quand il y a des couvre-feux quasiment tous les jours...
Je vois que la situation est complexe et risque de durer aussi longtemps que la guerre au Cachemire. Il serait peut etre plus simple de s'installer définitivement en Inde, le pays vous plait et vous pourriez y faire votre vie.
Certes l'Inde me plaît énormément, je pense avoir maintenant cerné toutes le complexités et les points positifs de ce fabuleux pays. Cependant pour y rester il me faut un statut.!!
J'aime revenir en France, j'en ai même besoin parfois, mais nous aimerions être décisionnaires de ces retours en France, que ce ne soit pas l'échéance d'un visa qui nous oblige à nous séparer.
Le mariage est la meilleure solution, mais le code civil utilisé à Goa (où nous résidons 6mois de l'année) est resté celui des Portugais (ou du moins il en est très proche), et pour un mariage civil à Goa, il nous faudra un certificat de capacité à mariage, ce qui implique passer par le consulat et nous sommes bloqués...!! Retour à la case départ.
Nous essayons de nous renseigner sur les différents codes civils existant pour trouver celui qui nous permettra de nous marier, sans avoir à en passer par des montagnes de paperasserie consulaires, qui nous bloquent.
D'autre part, mon ami aimerait découvrir la France, pouvoir vivre ce que je lui explique de ma vie, de ma culture, il aimerait surtout pouvoir découvrir ma famille, mes amis, etc...

Si vous vous connaissez depuis 7 ans et que vous faîtes tout le temps le trajet France Inde et retour ne crois tu pas que tu devrais envisager le ...mariage, tout simplement? L'embrouille comme tu dis est que le gouvernement français (consulat de Bombay et ambassade de Delhi) juge que le certificat de naissance que nous avons obtenu en suivant leur procédure (celle du gouvernement français : examen dentaire, examen osseux et décision du tribunal civil du Kashmir devant 2 témoins de la famille) ne leur suffise plus...
L'ambassade demande que l'acte de naissance soit "légalisé", en gros signé par une personne qu'il reconnaisse comme ayant habilité pour signer légalement un document (genre un juge du tribunal civil du Kashmir est pour eux un rigolo...).
Et c'est là que ça coince, car à chaque fois que nous appelons l'Ambassade pour savoir qui est habilité, soit ils ne savent pas, soit ils sont incapable de nous donner un nom, ou ils nous donnent une fonction qui n'existe pas au Kashmir !!!.
Ils m'ont même une fois raccrocher au nez parce que je leur prouvais que ce qu'ils me disaient n'avait pas de sens...
Le ton des employés changent radicalement dès que tu prononces ce mot : Kashmir

Ce genre d'examen est nécéssaire lorsque la date de naissance est inconnue, on peut supposer que dans le fin fond du Cachemire il n'a jamais été déclaré a la naissance. D'ou pratiquement l'impossibilité d'obtenir des papiers officiels facilement. Reste une solution, facile a sous entendre dans ces régions, mais prévoir les émoluements d'un avocat.
Eh oui comme beaucoup d'indiens, moins maintenant, mais mon ami n'a pas été déclaré à la naissance... Mon ami a bien fait attention à ce que ses petits neveux et nièces soient déclarés !!
Les seuls registres où mon ami apparait sont ceux des écoles qu'il a fréquentées, ce qui est apparemment suffisant pour faire établir un passeport, mais pas pour faire établir un acte de naissance reconnu "légalisé" par l'Ambassade...
Et jusqu'à dernier ordre l'Ambassade ne reconnait que quelques signataires légaux dans chaque état.
L'acte de naissance de mon ami est légal, mais pas "légalisé", tout est en nuance pour l'Ambassade.
Je dois reconnaitre que le travail du consulat de Bombay a été super, ils ont vraiment été accueillants, compréhensifs et aidants, mais toutes ces démarches de "légalisation" doivent se dérouler avec l'Ambassade et là je dois dire que jusqu'à présent l'accueil n'était pas le même...
Quant à payer des avocats, ça n'a pas vraiment grand intérêt puisque l'Ambassade ne reconnait que certains signataires !!

Pas toujours très simple d'y répondre, d'autant plus pour le ressortissant étranger. Mon ami avait eu quelques difficultés à répondre à certaines questions, pas qu'il n'avait pas de réponses, ou qu'il s'agissait d'un sujet dont nous n'avions pas discuté ensemble, mais la situation est un peu stressante, du coup on peut vite perdre ses moyens... C'est un peu comme un entretien de motivation, mais sur ta vie privée... ;)

I’m planning a trip from France to Alberta/British Columbia, and I’m unsure about which bank card to use for the security deposit with the rental company (I’m thinking of going with AVIS).
I contacted Avis Canada, and they told me a credit card is absolutely required. I asked my bank for a credit card (a *real* credit card), but they only offered me a deferred debit card.
My question: For a rental with Avis Canada, is a Gold International Mastercard deferred debit card usable for the security deposit needed to finalize the rental? Is the "CREDIT" label enough? (Some cards say "CREDIT" and others say "CARTE DE CREDIT"—seems minor, but it’s actually a big deal in how the card works.)
I’ve seen conflicting info everywhere I look... My bank says it’s *usually* okay (the deferred debit card), while Avis Canada insists it *must* be a credit card, not debit—even when I mention the deferred debit card.
I know the whole credit card concept is already confusing, and on top of that, some sites say a deferred debit card counts as a credit card, while others say it doesn’t.

I’ll explain my situation.
Unfortunately, I lost my passport, and I only realized it two weeks before my departure for a humanitarian mission in Libya. I’m a nurse, and this mission really means a lot to me.
First, I applied for an emergency passport, but it was denied by the Val-d'Oise prefecture on the grounds that a planned humanitarian mission wasn’t considered an urgent reason.
So, I submitted a biometric passport application on July 20th. Since then, the tracking has been stuck, and the town hall can’t (or won’t) give me any clear information. Every time I call, I get a different story. The last update I received was that the passport had been produced since July 23rd with a status of "about to be shipped," but nothing since then.
I’ve managed to push my departure back to next Tuesday at the latest, but I’m starting to really panic.
Have any of you submitted an application around July 20th, especially in Val-d'Oise (95)? How long did you wait between the passport being produced and it being available at the town hall? Is it normal for this step to take this long?
This mission means so much to me. I had everything organized, and I’m also supposed to attend a friend’s wedding right after near the border.

I’m a bit embarrassed because I need to travel to Quebec from February 27th to March 13th. I’m a regular visitor to Canada—this will be my 10th trip since 1997, plus a year as a permanent resident (2000–2001) and a cross-country run from Vancouver to Halifax in 2011. So, I’m definitely not a terrorist!
But since our last trip in July 2015, they’ve introduced this eTA thing. Seems more like a way to make money than to actually secure Canada, if you ask me, but anyway, that’s not the point.
I applied for an eTA for myself, my wife, and our two kids. They all got approved within hours, but not me! I was asked to create a GC key and then an IRCC account, which I did. Normally, you get news within 72 hours, but since Monday, January 15th, nothing!
In the "message" section of the account, it says "explanation letter (required)" with a deadline of January 25th, but I can’t find any explanation anywhere—despite searching the Canadian government website and Google. No links, nothing!
I’ve emailed them but haven’t heard back yet. I’m thinking of calling the Canadian embassy in Paris tomorrow. Even though I’m not stressing yet, it’d be a bummer if everyone else got to go without me!
If anyone’s had this issue before or knows what this explanation letter is about, I’d love to hear more.

I bought a one-way flight (Ryanair) and a return flight (EasyJet) to spend a week in Morocco in April.
My passport expires 3 weeks after the return date.
Some websites say the passport must be valid for 3 months at the time of entry.
However, it will still be valid both on entry and return, but its validity will only be 1 month at the time of entry (and 3 weeks on the return date, everything prepaid).
It's an individual family trip.
The consulate can't give me an answer—they're still looking into it (really!)
Last year, we stayed for 3 months in Thailand, north of Khao Lak, and were able to benefit from the 2-month visa exemption, renewable for one month by going to Takua Pa to validate a 1-month extension (1,900 baht).
This year, it’s a disaster for us—not only were we planning a 4-month stay, adding a visa run in between (which some say is quite risky), but the law is apparently changing in the coming months with the return of the 1-month exemption (plus the usual 1-month option). So, we looked into applying for a 6-month multiple-entry visa, allowing a maximum of 60 consecutive days in Thailand. However, I can’t find anywhere the minimum time required outside Thailand between two stays—do any of you have an idea?

As a French national, I need to obtain a short-stay visa that can be converted to a long-stay one. To do this, I have to send the required documents to the Madagascar embassy in Paris.
No issues with that procedure so far.
If I get this visa, once I arrive in Madagascar, I’ll need to provide the same documents to the Ministry of the Interior in Anosy. I’m trying to find an email address or website for the Ministry to check which documents I need to submit (I think they ask for additional ones).

I’d like to know if anyone has already applied for a private visa to Russia with an invitation from a Russian resident.
I traveled earlier this year with an e-visa, but since I want to stay longer, I’ll be visiting my friend who lives in eastern Russia.
For the visa application, does the invitation need to be on an official paper form issued by the Russian ministry? And most importantly, do I need to present the original for the application, or is there an electronic version that can be sent directly to the consulate in France?

I filled out the B2 form to apply for a visa, created an account on Atvis to pay the visa fees and schedule a meet-up, but every time I try to pay with my Boursobank Visa 1st card, they refuse the payment with a message telling me to check my details (address), even though everything is correct. Does anyone know why this is happening, or maybe they don’t accept Visa cards? Are you aware of this?

I’ve read that China may ask for proof of exit within 30 days (flight ticket or other reservation). Since we’d be leaving by land, I’m wondering how this works in practice.

On her ticket, it only has her maiden name (e.g., Martine DUPOND).
On her passport, it’s written as Martine DUPOND épouse AVRY.
No issues for travel, I hope I did the right thing with the ticket?
Then for the ESTA, is just Martine DUPOND enough, or do I need to include the "épouse AVRY" part like on the passport?
