Hi,
Does anyone have the contact details for a French-speaking guide?
Hi Alain,
There are plenty of French-speaking guides for Cambodia 😊... But for which city???

In Battambang, I can recommend Sarom, who’ll show you around the city and its surroundings.
You can also stay on-site.

For Siem Reap, there’s Vung—really friendly, punctual, and very careful.

The rates aren’t too high.
We’ll also be in Cambodia in February.
You can reach him on WhatsApp too.

Hello Joel,
We’ll be in Cambodia from February 4th to 19th.
Our itinerary is:
Phnom Penh. Battambang. Siem Reap. Kampot. Koh Rong.
One more small question: we’re thinking of taking Giant Ibis buses. Is it better to book our seats in advance or on the spot?
Thanks
Hi, Could you share your feedback on your trip—French-speaking guide, hotels, itinerary—since we’ll be there in three weeks and I’m planning our stay? We’ll spend two nights in Phnom Penh, then take a bus to Siem Reap for five nights. We’re unsure about hiring a guide—maybe we can explore the temples by bike just the two of us? (Still deciding.) After that, we’ll have a week left (five nights/six days) to visit Battambang and the beaches of Koh Rong Sanloem, then head back up to Kep/Kampot before returning to Phnom Penh. Thanks for your feedback

Hi Vero,
we just got back from our trip and I can tell you it was amazing;
Our itinerary was as follows:
3 nights in Phnom Penh (2 full days since we landed at 6:30 PM on the first day).
2 nights in Battambang.
4 nights in Siem Reap.
1 night on the overnight bus from Siem Reap to Kampot.
2 nights in Kampot.
3 nights on Koh Rong.
For getting around, we used the Giant Ibis bus company, www.giantibis.com—they’re reliable and punctual.
For hotels, we opted for simple, not too expensive places, booked on Booking.com.
As for guides, we got stood up in Phnom Penh, so we managed on our own. You can find tuk-tuks everywhere and negotiate the daily rate.
Here’s the phone number of the driver we hired in Phnom Penh:
+855 10 323 721 (WhatsApp)
For Battambang, Siem Reap, and Kampot, we hired a French-speaking driver—you can contact them on my behalf, Alain.
Battambang: Any and Sam +855 78 670 357 (WhatsApp)
Siem Reap: Hem Vung +855 96 614 0146 (WhatsApp)
Kampot: Tony +855 86 911 122 (WhatsApp). He’s the one who took us from Kampot to Sihanoukville to catch the ferry and then back to Phnom Penh.
We went to Koh Rong, which was a bit wilder than Koh Rong Sanloem.
If you need any other info, don’t hesitate to ask.
Alain.
Hi Alain,
Thanks for the info—I imagine the return is tough. How much did your guide charge you for Siem Reap?

We were a group of 10 people, so the price will be different for you. I sent you the driver’s number—he also works as a guide—so you can ask him for a quote if he’s available for your dates, of course.
We also hired an extra guide for 2 days for the temples, which cost us $110.
Hi there, not sure if you’ve already found one, but we went to Cambodia for two weeks at the end of March with a perfectly French-speaking driver-guide: SOPHAL SIN.
He’s great, full of good advice. Having lived in France for nearly 30 years and returned to his country about 15 years ago, he knows our culture well and understands what we’re looking for. Here’s his contact info:

Hi everyone, we (a group of 5) are just back from a trip to Laos and Cambodia. In Cambodia, we used the services of Sophal (mentioned in the discussions on this thread). We’ve visited many different countries and regions, but Sophal’s service in Cambodia really exceeded our expectations. During our 7-day stay, one member of our group had to be hospitalized. Sophal’s availability, flexibility, kindness, and actions were absolutely remarkable in every way. We still wonder how things would’ve gone without the support of this driver-guide, whose human qualities are extraordinary. We can only highly recommend him and would love to do a more in-depth visit of the country with him again.
During our 6-week grand tour, we spent about ten days with our guide Vibol Po visiting Angkor and the region further south of Siem Reap, Battambang, and Kampong. It was an amazing experience with Vibol, who, in addition to our pre-planned itinerary, also showed us plenty of other places. He’s very attentive and didn’t hesitate to suggest interesting alternatives. A truly comprehensive guide who loves his job, loves his country, and talks about it with enthusiasm. For us, he was the best—don’t hesitate to contact him: Vibol Po on WhatsApp +85510848944
