Bonjour j'ai visité le Grand Bahia a Cayo Leventado, c'est tres beau ! par contre vous êtes isolés et c'est tranquille, tout dépend de ce que vous désirez mais j'ai vu les hôtels que vous avez fait dans le passé soit le Valentin Impérial, l'excellence Punta Cana et le Secret St-James Jamaique et je vous conseillerais donc le ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN a Playa Del Carmen. Cet hôtel répondra a vos besoins de luxe et la nourriture y est excellente.
Les Grand Bahia sont tres biens, j'y suis allé a 2 reprises, mais ne peut pas rivaliser avec le Royal Playa Del Carmen pour le luxe de l'hotel et le service exceptionnel !
Pour la nourriture, lorsque vous dite : excellente nourriture ? je ne regarde pas tellement ce côté en vacances, j'ai toujours trouvé quelque chose de tres bons peu importe ou j'étais, mais au Royal vous êtes certaine de votre coup. Il n'est pas donné mais c'est tres beau ! Les plus belles chambres que j'ai pu voir !😉

Sinon, nous mêmes, quand nous étions au Gran Bahia Principe El Portillo à Samana, donc proche du Cayo Levantado, nous avons fait une excursion qui nous a permis de voir cet hôtel, mais de loin, l'accès étant strictement interdit à quiconque n'a pas le bracelet de l'hôtel.
Bon, moi je dirais que d'après ce que j'en ai vu l'hôtel n'est pas si isolé que çà car cette île sur lequel il se trouve est tout de même un point de chute pour les excursions venant des nombreux bâteaux de croisière qui s'arrêtent dans cette zone. Donc même si l'hôtel n'est pas accessible, le secteur de l'hôtel lui même est quand même assez limité en taille, donc pour faire par exemple de longues ballades sur la plage çà n'est pas possible hormis à se retrouver parmi les croisiéristes et tous ceux qui font une excursion sur cette île. Donc une tranquilité toute relative quand même ! 🏴☠️
Mais bon ce n'est que mon point de vue ! 😉
On ne voit bien qu'avec le coeur, l'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux ! (même si pour des voyageurs les yeux çà compte !!!)
Bonjour Thierry😉 la raison que je recommande un autre hôtel et dans un autre pays c'est que j'ai pu voir les autres discussions de la personne qui posait la question. Elle est allé dans des hôtels de luxe, le Grand Bahia ; que ce soit Cayo Leventado ou El Portillo ne sont pas des hôtels de luxe et elle spécifie EXCELLENTE NOURRITURE. Elle est habitué d'aller dans les 5* et plus si on peut dire, alors les Grand Bahia n'ont rien a voir avec Le Valentin Imperial, L'excellence Punta Cana ou le Secrets St-James en Jamaique.
Je suis allé sur l'ile de Cayo Levantado lors de mon excursions aux baleines, l'eau est de toute beauté, l'hotel est bien quoique pas trop de longueur de plage pour marcher, mais je suis certaine que cela n'équivaut pas aux hôtels que Avril222 a déja fait. Pour ce qui est personne qui arrive de croisiere sur l'ile de Cayo Leventado, ils n'ont pas le droit d'aller a l'hotel, les gens de l'hotel ont des acces privés et les gens d'excursions ne peuvent pas s'y rendre. Tranquille oui dans les sections réservés a l'hotel seulement.
Voila pourquoi ! La barre est tres haute ! et c'est difficile ensuite de choisir un hôtel qui est équivalent de ce qu'elle a été habitué.

Bonjour, oui j'ai fait Bayahibe en R.P.D, le Dominicus en 1999, c'était très bien, bonne bouffe, bonne animation et belle plage.Pour revenir au Cayo Levantado, je suis certain que c'est très bien mais personnellement j'ai un faible pour le Royal et Grand Hôtel Paraiso à la Riviera Maya, on parle ici pour resort de luxe surtout pour la nourriture, choix de vins, service etc.... La force du Royal est sa situation géographique, tout près de la 5e. ave. wow ! Mars j'arrive :)
J'ai eu l'occasion d'y aller 2 semaines l'année dernière et j'aurais bien voulu y retourner cette année (malheureusement l'hotel était plein à cette période). Nous irons au Bahia Principe de El portillo en Novembre.
Et 2 ans avant nous avions été au Bahia Principe Cayacao.
Bref vous remarquez que dans la gamme Bahia Principe c'est un Luxury par rapport aux autres.
Très bon souvenir, l'hotel est a taille humaine ( je crois 200 chambres), le parc est magnifique, la plage (coté hotel) est petite mais on a de la place, il est toujours possible d'aller sur la plage publique, d'ailleurs cette plage publique sert de "discothèque" le soir si bien que le soir il n'y a pas de bruit.
Je pourrais encore vous en parler mais franchement c'est un très très bon choix.
Juste une petite précision quant à la qualité du Gran Bahia Cayo Levantado, pour y avoir séjourné deux semaines, il y a deux ou trois ans. Ce Bahia vaut pas mal mieux qu'un Bahia standard puisqu'il fait partie de la collection Don Pablo. Par exemple, le Cayo Levantado est nettement supérieur au Bahia El Portillo ou je suis allé aussi. Il est de très très bon calibre, à mon avis et pour avoir aussi été client au Royal Playa Del Carmen, au Valentin, au Secrets Capri et dans quelques Paradisus, il n'est pas loin de leur calibre. Le fait d'être sur une ile et d'avoir l'impression d'être seul au monde offre une belle touche d'exotisme. Nettement moins commercial que le Royal, de plus en plus américanisé, au Mexique, de par sa plage et sa proximité d'un... Wal Mart auquel on peut avoir accès en marchant à peine quelques minutes...😉

He oui, il y a bel et bien un Wal Mart à proximité du Royal, tout près de la 5ième Avenue ou 99% des gens en vacances vont faire un tour au moins une foius pendant leurs vacances. Je ne dis pas que le Royal Playa Del Carmen n'est pas un produit de grande qualité, mais pour y être allé trois fois, on a trouvé, mon épouse et moi, qu'il en avait peut-être un perdu, la dernière fois. Le Gran Bahia Cayo Levantado offre beaucoup d'atouts que le Royal ne compte pas, vous savez, Lucie. Mais ce sont tout de même deux valeurs sûres, à mes yeux😎 Au plaisir!

I wanted to share a great discovery in the Marakele area because, in the end, this park doesn’t get talked about much compared to Kruger, even though it’s really worth the detour.
We discovered Cypiro Leopard Lodge, right next to Marakele National Park in the Waterberg. It’s a small property with just a few villas and suites, so it’s nothing like the big, crowded lodges. What we loved most was the feeling of being truly at the end of the world—lots of space, silence, and almost no one around.
And yet, it’s only about 3 hours from Johannesburg. Once you leave Joburg, the road is pretty straightforward, and you quickly find yourself in a much wilder Africa.
Marakele National Park was a huge surprise for us. There are plenty of animals, the Big Five are present, but best of all, very few people. At times, we drove for quite a while without seeing another car. It’s such a change from parks where you sometimes end up with 15 cars around one animal.
The landscapes are also stunning, with the Waterberg mountains, plains, and beautiful views from some of the trails.
We also learned on-site that Marakele is known for its very large Cape vulture colony—around 800 breeding pairs. When you climb into the mountains and see them soaring above, it’s pretty impressive.
The entire Waterberg region is actually a UNESCO-recognized biosphere reserve, and you quickly understand why once you’re there.
As for Cypiro, it’s a lodge that was recently taken over by French owners—really nice and approachable. The place is quite exclusive since there are very few accommodations. The villas and suites each have their own private pool, a wood-fired hot bath (like a KolKol), a braai, and an outdoor fireplace.
Evenings are especially lovely, especially with the peace and quiet all around.
Another thing we found really convenient: you can organize your stay however you like.
You can come self-catering and cook for yourself. There’s a supermarket in the nearby small town, practically on the way in, so you can do your shopping before arriving without making a big detour.
Or you can ask them to organize everything with breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. Their chef, Ernest, cooks really well, and it lets you completely unwind for a few days.
We liked being able to alternate: some quiet meals on our own and others prepared for us.
That’s actually one of the things we appreciated here—it’s not an ultra-formal lodge where everything is scheduled at fixed times. You can head out early to Marakele, come back for lunch, enjoy the pool, go back out in the late afternoon, then have a braai or a relaxed dinner in the evening.
In terms of price, we also found the value for money really good for this level of accommodation and especially for the very private feel of the place. Sometimes it feels like you’re in a much more expensive lodge.
If you’re looking for lots of activity and dozens of people around you, this probably isn’t the right spot.
But for peace, wildlife, nature, wide-open spaces, and that feeling of being a little alone in the world, we absolutely loved it.

And if anyone knows Marakele or the Waterberg well, I’d love to hear about other spots to discover in the area.
While digging through the archives 🔍, we discovered a 19th-century journal 📜 bearing the name: "Le Petit Baigneur, weekly journal of beaches, spa towns, and thermal resorts in the South of France", published as early as 1886. Its motto? "All for the baths and by the baths" 🏖️ — what a program!
We found the name so amusing that we chose it to rename our hotel: Hôtel Le Petit Baigneur!
140 years later, we’re carrying on this seaside tradition of the South of France in our own way 🏊♂️ — with a few fewer crinolines, but just as much love for the seaside. 😊

I found a hotel, the Kappa Club Crystal Bay Resort, and online reviews for this hotel recommend a guide named Omar. I contacted him via WhatsApp, and he's offering a 2-day, 1-night safari in Tsavo East, a "blue safari," and a Marafa Canyon day trip for 400 € per person.
I’m asking for help from people who’ve already done these excursions because I have no idea what these offers entail.

Is the latter one reliable?

Bonjour nous arriverons dimanche 5 mai ( à partir de 16h25) à l'aéroport de Punta Cana pour profiter d'un séjour que mon amie à gagner à l’hôtel Gran Bahia Principe La Romana.
L'avion est offert par la compagnie aérienne, l'hôtel je pense par la chaine hôtelière, mais aujourd'hui je m’inquiète du transfert car aucune info et j'apprends que rien n'est prévu.
D’après ce que j'ai vu le dernier car expreso part de Punta Cana à 16h00
Y-a t'il d'autres moyens de transports collectif (guagua) qui puisse faire le trajet ou au moins nous avancer jusqu'à La Romana ou San Pedro de Marcoris et je pense qu'on finira le trajet en taxi.
Si c'est trop compliqué ça sera navette privée mais on est plus "lonely planet " que navette privée et hôtel tout inclus.
