Nous partons à 2 en Namibie pendant 4 semaines en aout 2016 et j'aurais aimé avoir quelques avis sur mon itinéraire.
Les vols sont achetés et le vehicule 4x4 Hilux avec tente de toit et matériel de camping réservé. Je compte ne réserver les campements que dans Etosha et peut être également vers Sesriem, ce qui nous permettrait d'adapter les autres étapes en fonction de nos coups de coeur.

Je viens en fait de revoir complètement mon parcours. J'ai avancé la date de prise en charge du véhicule au même jour d'arrivée et supprimé une nuit à Windhoek, ce qui nous permettra de partir dès le lever du soleil le lendemain.
J'ai également allongé le parcour jusque dans le sud. Otavi n'était là que pour "meubler" entre Etosha et Windhoek pour les 4 derniers jours. Dans mon nouvel itinéraire, j'ai décalé Etosha de sorte de "presque" finir le trip par cette étape.

mes deux centimes, je ne vois pas l'intérêt de passer deux nuits à Quiver tree forest camp et une seule à Namibrand. Perso, je ferais le contraire. Une fois que tu as vu les giants playground et les couchers de soleil sur les quivertree... En plus, le camping est quand même assez entassé, j'ai préféré la tranquillité et l'isolement du mesosaurus camp à quelques km. Alors que Namibrand, c'est aussi très isolé et tranquille, on s'y sent seul au monde, ça fait beaucoup de trajet pour une seule nuit et ne pas profiter vraiment des lieux... à mon avis. 🙂
Je ne sais pas si ça a changé mais il fallait acheter les billets pour Kolmanskop à Lüderitz.
C'est un choix de zapper le Spitzkoppe et Twyvelfontein et d'enlever Puros?
Pour loger à Otjiwarongo en camping il y a acacia en ville, c'est moyen mais pratique.

Oups, je viens de voir que tu ne comptes pas réserver Namibrand? Ca me semble compliqué, surtout en août, et il n'y a que deux emplacements... et le ranger t'attend quand tu as réservé, il ne gère pas lui-même les réservations nous a-t-il dit.

Tu es la 2ème personne à me déconseiller 2 nuits à Quiver tree. Je vais donc passer cette étape à une seule nuit. Je suis allé sur le site du mesosaurus camp et il a l'air effectivement sympa. J'ajouterai peut être cette nuit récupérée à Otjiwarongo pour aller au Waterberg. Il semble en plus que le parc d'Etosha soit déjà bien rempli et j'ai peut être une chance en avançant d'une journée, donc ça "collerait" pas mal. Mais le Waterberg est il vraiment intéressant à parcourir ?

En fait, je préfère faire des haltes de 2 jours plutôt que de courir de site en site, d'où la suppression de Spitzkoppe et Twyvelfontein. Bien que cette étape me plaisait bien, j'ai supprimé Puros car on m'a dit à plusieurs reprises qu'il n'était pas raisonnable de s'aventurer à un seul véhicule sur cette piste.
Pour loger à Otjiwarongo, on m'a conseillé Frans Indongo Lodge qui semble par contre ne proposer que des lodges. Mais bon tant pis, c'est les vacances !
Concernant les réservations, je pense que je vais y passer quand même pour être sur de pouvoir me poser où je le souhaite.
Nous revenons de 39 jours d'aventure Namibienne et botswanaise, et j'ai remarqué que vous dormez à hoada Campsite... C'est notre réel coup de coeur du voyage complet. et pour les 5 personnes qui m'accompagnaient.. vous n'allez pas le regretter.
Pour le reste, quelques précisions :
La route vas être longue, vous pourrez faire des achats à Opuwo sur le passage, jolie petite ville, avec les tribus Himbas et Herero qui font aussi leur courses. Faiter attention à ne pas acheter viande et lait frais. Vous aurez quelque barrière vétérinaires sur le passages. La route est pour la plupart goudronné et très bonne de Opuwo à Etosha..
J26 – Otjiwarongo - ? (passage au CCF CHEETAH GUEPARDS)
Nous sommes restez et avons pris le package complet au CCF pour une journée avec les personnes qui y travail.. C'était la plus belle expérience animalière du voyage. Je recommande, informez vous pour réserver assez tôt, si vous penchez pour la journée complète. Vous n'aurez plus de secret pour les guépards, le chiens gardent troupeaux namibien et la vie/guerre des guépard en Namibie contre les fermiers ou pour... Génial!!!
Votre voyage est beau, je vous souhaite pleins de plaisir et de très belle découverte. Si besoin d'infos, nous sommes là pour t'aider, mais gardez une part d'inconnu et surprise :-D

je ne connais pas le Waterberg, je ne peux donc pas t'aider.
Je trouve ça vraiment dommage de ne pas voir le Spitzkoppe, c'est tout de même un endroit magique. Je comprends qu'on zappe Twyvelfontein si on n'aime pas les peintures rupestres (moi j'adore). Par contre, j'aime beaucoup Puros aussi et il y a quand même pas mal de passage sur le trajet mais de toute façon, il est certain qu'il faut toujours faire des choix... 🙂
Nous à Otjiwarongo, on loge à Hadassa guest house, on a testé une fois le camping mais vraiment très moyen, on préfère notre guest house préférée (et francophone! 😛 ).

je suis en train de boucler notre parcours de 30 jours sur place et ta discussion m'intéresse.
as-tu comptabilisé tes distances et le temps à prévoir car cela me parait faire beaucoup de route au total
l'étape Epupa > Olifantsrus est longue, aux dernières nouvelles la gravel au nord d'Opuwo semble être moins bonne et après Opuwo des travaux de réfection sont en cours...pour combien de temps ???
j'ai un contact qui a passé près de 3 mois sur place l'été dernier et malgré tout des choix se sont imposés car beaucoup d'arrêts restent imprévisibles (photos entre autres) et il y a tellement de choses à voir !
avais-tu donné à ton voyage un intérêt, un but particuliers (faune, sites, villes, paysages...) avant de choisir ton parcours?

J'ai peaufiné mon trajet en supprimant des nuits en début de parcours de manière à pouvoir ajouter 2 jours à Purros, destination à laquelle je tiens beaucoup. J'hésite par contre encore à passer 2 nuits à Swakopmund. J'ai également ajouté Spitzkoppe et Twyfelfontein et remplacé Okaukuejo par Etosha Campsite à 10 km du parc (plus de place à Okaukuejo à cette période). Nos centres d'intérêts portent plus sur la nature, la faune et les grands espaces que sur les villes. J'ai ajouté la nouvelle version de notre itinéraire ci dessous et y ai ajouté les temps de parcours calculés avec Road Trip Planner. Je suis bien conscient que ces temps restent théoriques mais d'après les différents posts que j'ai pu lire, ils ne sont pas très éloignés de la réalité (sans les pauses pipi, photos et rencontres bien sur). Epupa vers Olifantsrus est cette un long trajet (7 à 8 heures), mais cela reste faisable en partant suffisament tôt.

Hi there, we’ll be in Mozambique in early December 2026 and we’d like to travel from Vilanculos to Beira by car or bus to reach Beira airport. After that, we’re planning to visit Gorongosa National Park before flying back to France from Beira. We’re planning a 4x4 trip from Belgium to Central Asia, passing through Georgia, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
For these countries, our national insurance obviously doesn’t cover the vehicle, so we’ll need to get local insurance.
Will it be a problem if the vehicle is registered under person A and the national insurance is under person B? Both A and B will be in the vehicle, and both will be listed as drivers on the insurance.
When we get the local insurance, if we again list A and B as drivers, does the order matter? Could we get stuck at the border for this reason?

Were they All Terrain tires or more "standard" ones like all-season tires, for example?

I’m planning a trip to Iceland for next July-August, with a car and tent, and I’m wondering about booking campsites.
From your experience, is it necessary or even essential to book campsites in advance, or do you always manage to find a spot to pitch your tent?
We’ll also have the option to sleep in the car without pitching the tent.
Does that give us the flexibility to stay outside a campsite for a night here and there?

I’m looking for detailed maps of this region that include small roads and tracks.
Last year, we had a fantastic road trip in the Anti-Atlas and High Atlas using Erfahren maps, but unfortunately, they don’t cover the area we’re interested in this year.

We’re planning a 13-day family road trip in Morocco this July, with six people in a Toyota Prado 4x4 (renting in Marrakech).
We’ll alternate between bivouacking and small hotels/riads depending on the stops.

Our goal:
Atlas Mountains + desert + dunes + plateaus + valleys + a bit of coastline.
We’ll cover about 1,700 km in total.
We’re planning:
Bivouacking in the Chegaga/Iriki area
Flexible for the rest (booking the day before or same day)
Sand gear: traction plates, compressor, tow strap, roof rack
Questions:
Is the Zagora → Chegaga → Iriki → Foum Zguid crossing in July doable on our own (single vehicle, no guide)?
Are there any truly technical or risky sections between Chegaga and Iriki?
Does the overall itinerary seem manageable in 13 days without rushing?
Any suggestions for great bivouac spots or particularly interesting stops along this route?
The points on the route are provisional overnight stops. Some spots will include two nights in the same area.
We’re used to off-road driving, but not yet in the Moroccan desert.

We’re struggling a bit with timing and choosing activities for the part of the trip between Sesriem and Brandberg.
Day 1: Sesriem to Mirabib
Day 2: Mirabib to Swakopmund – visit Swakopmund, overnight in Swakopmund
Day 3: Sandwich Harbour – overnight in Swakopmund
Day 4: Kayaking with the seals + the living dunes – overnight in Swakopmund
Day 5: Moon Landscape, Henties Bay + Cape Cross – overnight at White Lady Lodge in Brandberg
Does this itinerary seem realistic to you? Is Cape Cross really worth the trip? If I had to choose between Cape Cross and kayaking with the seals, which would you recommend?

However, the rental agencies we’ve found prohibit driving on the tracks to Omalo (Tusheti) and/or Ushguli (Svaneti).

I’d love to visit Gonarezhou National Park—I see there are two sectors: the Mwenezi Region in the south and the area around the Runde River in the north. Should I cover both sectors or just focus on the northern region?
For the parks along the Zambezi River, is it better to visit Mana Pools on the Zimbabwe side or Lower Zambezi on the Zambia side?

I’m leaving in November for about a month with the goal of reaching Senegal via Mauritania. I’d love to share this trip with someone who wants to discover Mauritania and a bit of Senegal... and also experience life on board a 4x4 in the desert or bush, sometimes sleeping in the vehicle or in hostels/small hotels for comfort. I’m looking for a rental company (or several) that offers single-cab 4x4 pick-ups with a fitted camper cell for two people. I’m specifically after a vehicle with an indoor shower for extra comfort ;)

While browsing the forum, I came across the Chilean rental company Holiday Rent. But do you have any recommendations for Argentine rentals?
Because, if I can’t return the vehicle in the same city as pickup, I’d prefer—and it’d likely be cheaper—to at least return it in the same country.

My trip to South Africa is starting to take shape.
However, I'm struggling to figure out the route through Kruger Park. I can't seem to find the information I need about getting around.
Coming from the south, I plan to arrive on Day 1 in the early afternoon at Malelane or Crocodile Bridge.
Do some shopping in Malelane (or Crocodile Bridge main area) and stay overnight outside the park.

I’m finalizing my trip starting from Namibia.
When I arrive in Divundu, I’d like to head straight to the Khwai area early in the morning to one of the campsites in the Khwai Development Trust. Is the drive doable with a good 4x4 in a day?
We’ll spend 2 nights in Khwai, then 2 or maybe 3 nights in the Moremi area (Third Bridge/Xakanaxa/Mboma) before heading back to Maun to wrap up our journey.
Is that too much time to spend in each place?
We’d also like to do one or two boat excursions in the delta. Any suggestions for the best options and operators?

I’m planning to explore the western part of Madagascar from May 1st to 5th, specifically to visit the Tsingy. I’ve heard different versions about the road conditions and access to the Tsingy during this time, so I’d love to hear from people who’ve actually made this trip during this time of year.
Have you traveled from Morondava → Tsingy between May 1st and 5th?
Was the journey doable and safe?
Did you have access to the Grands Tsingy, or just the Petits Tsingy?
