J'ai réservé un voyage A/R à Chypre. Nous nous posons à Ercan et devons relier cet aéroport à un hôtel dans la partie sud de l'ile à Agya Napa. L'agence ne m'a pas prévenue des difficultés pour passer la frontière. Je ne sais pas comment faire, existe t'il des transferts ? bus ? taxi qui relient notre destination ? j'ai appelé l office du tourisme de Chypre qui me dit que c'est illégal et en gros débrouille toi. est ce que quelqu'un peut m'aider ? m'orienter vers un site ? merci beaucoup pour vos réponses
C'est en effet illégal d'entrer à Chypre par la zone occupée par les Turcs. Vous devrez probablement prendre un taxi jusqu'à un check point, passer la zone ̂de démarcation à pied puis prendre un autre taxi.
La prochaine fois renseignez-vous sur votre destination avant d'acheter n'importe quoi, tout le monde sait que la question chypriote est un sujet sensible.
Comment savoir quand une agence de voyage vous propose un vol avec hôtel tout compris qu il y aura un problème à la frontière ?? C est leur rôle de prévenir les clients. Merci pour votre réponse
Je doute fort qu'une agence de voyages physique, avec un agent de comptoir, vous ait proposé un vol sur Ercan ! Seules les agences russes proposent cela, et avec un séjour au nord. Et si vous insistez pour acheter un vol sur Ercan, en général les agences refusent, pour la simple raison que leur garantie financière ne les couvre pas en cas de problème.
Je suis donc sûre à 100 % que vous êtes passée par une agence en ligne, sans demander conseil à quiconque.
Ces agences mettent en général dans leurs conditions qu'il est de la responsabilité du passager d'avoir les documents de voyage en règle, et même souvent précisent pour chaque destination s'il vous faut un passeport, un visa...
Mais elles n'ont pas cette obligation, et encore moins de vous donner un cours de géopolitique. Tout le monde sait qu'il faut passer par des check-points (ce n'est pas une "frontière" puisque l'Etat auto-proclamé du nord n'est reconnu par aucune autorité internationale, sauf la Turquie) pour aller de la partie nord occupée par les Turcs, au sud.
Dans la mesure où vous avez acheté de vous-même un plan aussi risqué, sans vous inquiéter du transfert aéroport-hôtel, c'est en effet à vous de vous débrouiller.
Après comme je le disais au début, il vous suffira sans doute de passer le check-point à pied et de changer de mode de transport. Ce n'est pas la mer à boire. Si vous êtes ressortissante européenne CNI ou passeport suffisent pour passer la ligne. Je ne pense pas que vous soyez ennuyés plus que ça par les Turcs même pour repasser dans l'autre sens au retour.
Oulala... faut se détendre un peu là ! Je demandais juste des conseils. Je ne m attendais pas à autant d agressivité sur un forum de voyageurs ! Je suis passée par Last Minute et ce n est en aucun cas une agence russe. Je maintiens que lors de la réservation de ce vol + hotel il n a pas été question de difficulté pour le passage du Nord vers le Sud. C est lorsque j ai voulu prendre un transfert que j ai compris. Et j avoue ne pas être une experte en géopolitique je retiens donc votre gentille et agréable leçon
Vous confirmez bien être passée par une agence en ligne, sans aucun conseiller en face de vous.
Une OTA, vous cliquez, vous payez, c'est fait. Un site internet n'étant pas doué de raison, il ne peut pas savoir que vous ignorez que Chypre est coupée en deux depuis des décennies.
Vous savez, la première fois que mon patron m'a envoyée à Berlin, j'étais jeune et je savais juste qu'il y avait un mur qui coupait la ville en deux. Bien que me déplaçant uniquement à Berlin-Ouest pour le boulot, je me suis précipitée à la bibliothèque pour chercher des infos sur le sujet, voir si je pourrais en profiter pour aller à Berlin-Est et avec quels papiers. Et comme il n'y avait pas internet à cette époque ça demandait un peu plus d'effort que de taper "Chypre" sur Google.
Il me semble que quand on va dans un pays, on se renseigne un minimum, y compris sur la situation politique, ne serait-ce que pour éviter d'engraisser des dictateurs.

Nicosia - Ayia Napa est un trajet assez long (01h20) même si la route est de bonne qualité. À Nicosie vous n'aurez aucun problème pour trouver un transport par contre cela risque d'être cher en taxi.
Prévoyez un peu de cash coté turc pour éviter d'utiliser la carte bleue. Si on vous pirate votre carte il n'y aura aucun recours possible parce que vous êtes dans un pays non reconnu.

En effet atterir à Ercan n’est pas une problème si vous prenez les précautions d’usage préconisées par france diplomatie et qu’il ne vous arrive rien.
Qui ? = La communauté internationale hormis la turquie. Chypre du nord est un pays autoproclamé.

Dans la partie nord, il convient de se montrer très vigilant sur l’usage de sa carte bancaire, les sommes effectivement débitées pouvant se révéler bien supérieures au montant attendu. Les demandes de rectification, s’agissant d’un "Etat" non reconnu par la communauté internationale, sont aléatoires.
C’est la même chose avec la voiture et votre carte internationale d’assurance automobile
La couverture d’assurance fournie par les cartes vertes délivrées pour chypre est limitée aux parties géographiques de chypre qui sont sous le contrôle de la république de chypre
Je suis curieux d’aller lire les petites lignes des contrats en cas de rapatriement sanitaire.
Pour les conseils de voyage de ce genre j'aime comparer avec les recommandations des Suisses et des Canadiens.
Au sujet des assistances rapatriement il n'y a pas de problème. Pour les cartes et leur éventuel piratage, la loi française qui protège le consommateur ne fait pas cette distinction.
Il me semble qu'il y a des taxis partagés à l'aéroport. Cela suppose d'avoir du temps devant soi, et pas trop de bagages.
Je doute qu'ils aillent à votre destination finale.
Je ne sais pas quand vous partez mais j y suis en ce moment donc...arrivé a l aéroport dErcan vous avez des bus pour Lefkosia (Nicosie) en sortant a gauche vous achetez les tickets dans le petit batiment et on vous oriente sur le bus pour Lefkosia (Nicosie en latin)..ca coute 5.5 lires je crois un peu moins d'1 euro. Arrivé au terminal de bus Khibbas dirigez vous vers la grande avenue il y a une station de taxis a moins de 100m au sud... 5 euros soit 30.lires turques pour aller au check point ( post de douane) qui n est qu a 2km, le taxi va vous arrêter a 100m du poste turc...finissez a pieds...la vous présentez votre passeport ( prenez le....certains douaniers zélés peuvent l'exiger (si vous devez repasser de l autre coté) et après 60m vous faites la même chose avec le post grec pour entrer en zone européenne avec votre Carte identite ou passeport....il.n'y a aucun soucis pour passer et repasser pour visiter...vous êtes dans ledras street rue très commerçante...votre forfait téléphonique fonctionne en zone europeenne comme en france ( selon opérateur) j ai orange....soit vous passez une nuit soit vous réservez une voiture soit vous prenez le bus qui va a Ayia Napa qui est a 85km...a organiser avant votre depart... j en reviens j'ai loué une voiture pour 1 semaine pour 68.10 euros a Ace rent a car...les autoroutes sont gratuites...il vous faudra marcher jusqu au bout de la rue ledras..5, 10mn maxi pour rejoindre la station intercity bus Solomos square en face de l autre cote des remparts a droite coté nouvelle ville...pour vous repérer vérifier sur Maps google avant de partir pour vous familiariser....mais pas la peine d'en faire une histoire comme je l ai lu...ca fait 46 ans que la turquie est au nord et a part le check point qui coupe la rue ledras en 2 tout va bien ( sauf couverture assurance si accident de vol ou autre en zone turque) je suis venue avec Pegasus de Paris après 1 nuit a Istanbul )..de belles plages a Ayia napa mais beaucoup de russes...bonnes vacances et relax...il y a aussi des bus prives...http://www.travelexpress.com.cy/en-us/

I’m planning a trip from France to Alberta/British Columbia, and I’m unsure about which bank card to use for the security deposit with the rental company (I’m thinking of going with AVIS).
I contacted Avis Canada, and they told me a credit card is absolutely required. I asked my bank for a credit card (a *real* credit card), but they only offered me a deferred debit card.
My question: For a rental with Avis Canada, is a Gold International Mastercard deferred debit card usable for the security deposit needed to finalize the rental? Is the "CREDIT" label enough? (Some cards say "CREDIT" and others say "CARTE DE CREDIT"—seems minor, but it’s actually a big deal in how the card works.)
I’ve seen conflicting info everywhere I look... My bank says it’s *usually* okay (the deferred debit card), while Avis Canada insists it *must* be a credit card, not debit—even when I mention the deferred debit card.
I know the whole credit card concept is already confusing, and on top of that, some sites say a deferred debit card counts as a credit card, while others say it doesn’t.

I’ll explain my situation.
Unfortunately, I lost my passport, and I only realized it two weeks before my departure for a humanitarian mission in Libya. I’m a nurse, and this mission really means a lot to me.
First, I applied for an emergency passport, but it was denied by the Val-d'Oise prefecture on the grounds that a planned humanitarian mission wasn’t considered an urgent reason.
So, I submitted a biometric passport application on July 20th. Since then, the tracking has been stuck, and the town hall can’t (or won’t) give me any clear information. Every time I call, I get a different story. The last update I received was that the passport had been produced since July 23rd with a status of "about to be shipped," but nothing since then.
I’ve managed to push my departure back to next Tuesday at the latest, but I’m starting to really panic.
Have any of you submitted an application around July 20th, especially in Val-d'Oise (95)? How long did you wait between the passport being produced and it being available at the town hall? Is it normal for this step to take this long?
This mission means so much to me. I had everything organized, and I’m also supposed to attend a friend’s wedding right after near the border.

I’m a bit embarrassed because I need to travel to Quebec from February 27th to March 13th. I’m a regular visitor to Canada—this will be my 10th trip since 1997, plus a year as a permanent resident (2000–2001) and a cross-country run from Vancouver to Halifax in 2011. So, I’m definitely not a terrorist!
But since our last trip in July 2015, they’ve introduced this eTA thing. Seems more like a way to make money than to actually secure Canada, if you ask me, but anyway, that’s not the point.
I applied for an eTA for myself, my wife, and our two kids. They all got approved within hours, but not me! I was asked to create a GC key and then an IRCC account, which I did. Normally, you get news within 72 hours, but since Monday, January 15th, nothing!
In the "message" section of the account, it says "explanation letter (required)" with a deadline of January 25th, but I can’t find any explanation anywhere—despite searching the Canadian government website and Google. No links, nothing!
I’ve emailed them but haven’t heard back yet. I’m thinking of calling the Canadian embassy in Paris tomorrow. Even though I’m not stressing yet, it’d be a bummer if everyone else got to go without me!
If anyone’s had this issue before or knows what this explanation letter is about, I’d love to hear more.

I’ve tried my hotel, the Lotte Hotel (which is well-known in Seoul), the airport—basically, I’ve entered at least 20 addresses, all rejected....

I bought a one-way flight (Ryanair) and a return flight (EasyJet) to spend a week in Morocco in April.
My passport expires 3 weeks after the return date.
Some websites say the passport must be valid for 3 months at the time of entry.
However, it will still be valid both on entry and return, but its validity will only be 1 month at the time of entry (and 3 weeks on the return date, everything prepaid).
It's an individual family trip.
The consulate can't give me an answer—they're still looking into it (really!)
Last year, we stayed for 3 months in Thailand, north of Khao Lak, and were able to benefit from the 2-month visa exemption, renewable for one month by going to Takua Pa to validate a 1-month extension (1,900 baht).
This year, it’s a disaster for us—not only were we planning a 4-month stay, adding a visa run in between (which some say is quite risky), but the law is apparently changing in the coming months with the return of the 1-month exemption (plus the usual 1-month option). So, we looked into applying for a 6-month multiple-entry visa, allowing a maximum of 60 consecutive days in Thailand. However, I can’t find anywhere the minimum time required outside Thailand between two stays—do any of you have an idea?

As a French national, I need to obtain a short-stay visa that can be converted to a long-stay one. To do this, I have to send the required documents to the Madagascar embassy in Paris.
No issues with that procedure so far.
If I get this visa, once I arrive in Madagascar, I’ll need to provide the same documents to the Ministry of the Interior in Anosy. I’m trying to find an email address or website for the Ministry to check which documents I need to submit (I think they ask for additional ones).

I’d like to know if anyone has already applied for a private visa to Russia with an invitation from a Russian resident.
I traveled earlier this year with an e-visa, but since I want to stay longer, I’ll be visiting my friend who lives in eastern Russia.
For the visa application, does the invitation need to be on an official paper form issued by the Russian ministry? And most importantly, do I need to present the original for the application, or is there an electronic version that can be sent directly to the consulate in France?

I filled out the B2 form to apply for a visa, created an account on Atvis to pay the visa fees and schedule a meet-up, but every time I try to pay with my Boursobank Visa 1st card, they refuse the payment with a message telling me to check my details (address), even though everything is correct. Does anyone know why this is happening, or maybe they don’t accept Visa cards? Are you aware of this?

I’ve read that China may ask for proof of exit within 30 days (flight ticket or other reservation). Since we’d be leaving by land, I’m wondering how this works in practice.

On her ticket, it only has her maiden name (e.g., Martine DUPOND).
On her passport, it’s written as Martine DUPOND épouse AVRY.
No issues for travel, I hope I did the right thing with the ticket?
Then for the ESTA, is just Martine DUPOND enough, or do I need to include the "épouse AVRY" part like on the passport?
