Je vais vous énoncer le problème qui n'est pas simple.
Ma copine est actuellement en equateur à quito pour un stage de 4mois.
Je vais la rejoindre à la fin de son stage. Nous allons passer 3 semaines à visiter l'equateur puis nous rentrerons tous les 2 à toulouse.
je me pose pas mal de questions au sujet des billets d'avions.
Tout d'abord lors de son départ ma copine a du prendre un billet retour car elle n'avait qu'un aller simple. On ne connaissait pas encore précisément la date de retour. Ce billet retour était une condition obligatoire selon la personne s'occupant de l'enregistrement des bagages pour embarquer. La vendeuse d'iberia lui a dit de faire annuler ce billet à son arrivé en equateur et de se le faire rembourser.
Premier problème à l'agence d'iberia de quito ils ont bien voulu faire annuler le billet mais ils ont dit à ma copine que le remboursement ne pouvait se faire que dans le pays dans lequel elle avait acheté le billet. (à iberia à l'aeroport de madrid en l'occurence)
Est ce normal ?
Autre probleme déja abordé sur ce forum, la différence de prix entre aller/retour et aller simple. J'ai regardé les tarrifs des vols toulouse/quito en aller/retour avec le départ le 21 aout j'en suis à 980€. En revanche ma copine à besoin d'acheter son billet pour rentrer. pour être sur les même vols que moi y'en pour 1044€ sur quito/toulouse en aller/simple et 1100€ en aller/retour depuis quito.
Existe t il une solution pour abaisser le cout de ce retour? attendre? Négocier directement avec Iberia? Si oui comment?

Y a t'il un véritable intéret à attendre ou au contraire faut il acheter tout de suite car le prix ne fera que monter.
J'ai vu que iberia avait un taux de remplissage d'environs 76% sur le début d'année 2009 en baisse de 7%. Cela veut dire que je suis quasi sur d'avoir des places même au dernier moment.
Quelle compagnie priviligeriez vous, Iberia, Lan, Avianaca?
Je sais que iberia autorise 2 bagages en soute de 23 kg chacun. Les prestations sont elles comparable chez les autres compagnies?

Non, a la douane ils ne lui demanderont rien du tout.
Pour les billets d'avion sur l'Equateur regarde avec Air Comet, ils sont pas mal.
Aucune loi ne t'oblige à avoir un billet retour. C'est juste une arnaque des compagnies qui savent très bien que le "pseudo" billet retour que tu dois acheter ne t'es remboursé qu'à 75%.
Au guichet, tu dis que tu as un billet retour électronique et que tu ne peux donc pas leur montrer.
Deuxiemement, on ne demande pas si tu es en possesion d'un billet d'avion lors du passage d'une frontière terrestre !
Sur LAN Ecuador, le service est très bien. Tu auras un écran individuel alors que sur Iberia non.
Regarde les vols Madrid-Quito ou Madrid-Guayaqui en fonction ou tu veux attérir et ensuite achète un vol Toulouse-Madrid.
FAUX! Officiellement l'Equateur, comme ma plupart des pays, oblige les visiyeurs à posséder un billet de retour ou de continuation. Dans la pratique on ne demande jamais de présenter ce billet en arrivant en Equateur. Mais les compagnies aériennes ont l'obligation de s'assurer que les passagers ont tous les documents requis par le pays de destination. Iberia n'a fait qu'appliquer la loi.
Je viens de consulter le site de l'ambassade d'Equateur et en effet une preuve de sortie du territoire sous forme de billet d'avion de bus au autre doit être obligatoirement présenté lors de l'arrivée. Ce n'est pas controlé systématiquement mais c'est obligatoire. Les compagnies en font leurs choux gras. Je me rappelle que le jour du départ de ma copine ont a failli rater la fin de l'enregistrement à cause de ça.
Pour les billets d'avions j'ai trouvé ça:
Pour moi: Aller retour toulouse quito 930€
Pour que ma copine puisse rentrer: Aller simple quito madrid 700€ et un Aller retour madrid toulouse 132€ dont nous ne nous servirons que de l'Aller.
ps: Un Aller simple madrid toulouse vaut plus de 600€
Est ce que ces tarifs vous semble correct? FAut t il attendre ou non?

3 - Les passagers contraints d'acheter un retour au dernier moment achètent un billet remboursable, qu'ils se font effectivement rembourser. La compagnie ne gagne donc rien et en plus elle doit gérer le remboursement.
Cette mesure ne rapporte strictement rien aux compagnies aériennes
Au lieu de partir avec un simple billet à 450€. Je suis obliger de rajouter 250€ pour sortir du territoire.
Les passagers contraints d'acheter un retour au dernier moment achètent un billet remboursable, qu'ils se font effectivement rembourser.
Tous les gens ne doivent pas se faire rembourser vu le refus qu'a essuyé ma copine à l'aéroport de Quito, sous prétexte que le billet a été acheté par carte à l'étranger. C'est le comble dans un aéroport international. De plus, même si le billet fini par être remboursé en l'occurence ce sera 4 mois plus tard dans mon cas, la compagnie à tout le loisir de faire fructifier l'argent en le plaçant; ça n'a l'air de rien mais multiplié par le nombre de gens à qui ça arrive tout les jours...

Quand on pose une question c'est parce à priori on ne connaît pas la réponse. Ayez au moins l'humilité d'examiner la réponse que l'on vous fait, avant de la rejeter parce que ce n'est pas celle que vous espériez.
Quand on achète un trajet aérien en plusieurs tronçons indépendants les compagnies ne sont pas corresponsables.
Dans le cas présent si votre vol Easyjet a un problème, et que vous perdez le vol suivant, vous perdez tout. Vous ne pouvez rien réclamer à Easyjet pour la perte du Madrid Quito.
Par contre si vous achetez un seul billet pour un parcours avec changements de vols et même de compagnies, le transporteur qui a un problème doit vous acheminer jusqu'à votre destination finale à ses frais.
En ce qui concerne le visa de ta copine, tu as probablement un problème.
Jusqu'il y a un an, on pouvait entrer trois mois puis se présenter au service d'immigration, sans nécessairement passer la frontière, cela peut se faire à Quito, et renouveler trois fois un mois, ce qui faisait un total de six mois.
Il y a un an, le gouvernement équatorien a supprimé la possibilité de prorogation et si je ne me trompe pas, cela n'a pas changé.
Si la situation est toujours la même qu'il y a quelques mois, si ta copine sort du pays après 3 mois ou après le délai fixé, elle ne peut plus rentrer avant au moins un an. Le délai est d'un an dans la loi mais comme le service d'immigration travaille par année civile, cela peut durer parfois plus d'un an.
Le fait de rentrer et sortir du pays est une légende, j'ai eu moi-même des problèmes pour m'installer en Equateur et j'ai dû prendre un visa de commerce puis trouver un contrat de travail (Maintenant j'ai la double nationalité)
Donc, je te conseille de te renseigner à l'ambassade d'Equateur pour voir si la possibilité de prorogation est toujours supprimée (Sinon, écris-moi, j'irai voir au service d immigration à Quito) et si ta copine a des problèmes, il vaut meiux qu'elle reste illégale en Equateur que de sortir. Les gens qui ont le type "gringo", ne sont presque jamais contrôlés par la police , moi-même je n'ai jamais été contrôlé en dix ans(Au pire, il suffit de dire que l'on a oublié ses papiers ou de se promener avec la copie du passeport sans prendre la page avec le cachet d'entrée ) et quand elle sortira du pays, l'amende est de 200 USD à l'aéroport ou elle essaie de sortir via la Colombie sans se faire contrôler à la sortie, quoique cela devienne plus difficile à cause de la situation politique.
Je te mets le site du ministère équatorien et tu y trouveras aussi que normalement (du moins en théorie), il faut un billet aller-retour

Il n'est pas nécessaire de sortir du pays pour obtenir jusqu'à 90jours supplémentaires, donc 180 jours en tout, ça se passe en 3 étapes à la migracion de Quito uniquement, 1 x 30 $ avec la demande , 1 x 200 $ attendre si le visa est accepté ou non et la 3ème fois ils te rendent ton passeport avec le visa, ce qui est nouveau car avant 2009 , il suffisait de passer dans n'importe quel migracion et il te donnait 90 j, . suppl. gratuit, alors que déjà à cette époque beaucoup sortait du pays pour rerentrer alors que cela était inutile. Si tu veux un visa directement de 4 mois ou 6 mois , le mieux aurait été de le faire au consulat ou ambassade d'Equateur de ton pays, j' en reviens et ils me l'ont fait en une heure pour 6 mois , sur présentation entre autre d'un billet d'avion aller et retour, un relevé de ton compte en banque, 4 photos et ton passeport. 😏 , , , les lois sont devenues beaucoup plus réstrictives au niveau de la migration, et si tu restes 9 mois et que tu voudras resortir, ça ne sera pas aussi simple qu'un contôle routier à 5 $ 😮, et tu te feras forcément alpaguer, et voilà ce que tu devras faire, avant de prendre ton avion qui partira dans 2 ou 3 heures... vite aller chercher un papier à la police au centre de Quito, avec ce papier , vite courir à la banque payer les 200 $ d'amende comme ilégal en Equateur, pour l'instant c'est un forfait à condition que le temps en plus est raisonable, avec ta quittance de la banque tu retournes vite à la police de migracion pour qu'il te tampone un document pour passer la frontière, après tu retournes vite à l'aéroport et ... ton avion sera déjà parti depuis quelques heures... et en plus , si durant ces 9 mois , tu as rencontré ton âme soeur et que tu voudras retourner en Equateur le plus rapidement, ... sorti, en tant qu'ilégal il te faudra attendre une année avant de pouvoir y retourner 😕. Alors , maintenant que tu sais, évite de vite courir..... ja ja

We’re thinking of one or two "escapes" from Rio—3-day trips to get away from the city (so not too far, max 3–4 hours by car or bus). We’re all ears for suggestions! We love beautiful nature and authentic experiences, not so much the touristy spots... even though those spots are often in beautiful places, we’d rather avoid them.

I’m planning a trip with my partner (no kids this time—thanks, Grandma!) for two weeks to celebrate her 40th birthday. I’ve been thinking about Chile. We’re looking at leaving around September 18, 2027, starting in the south and returning in early April.
Here’s what I had in mind:
8 nights in a van in the Lake District and the start of the Carretera Austral (up to the Chaitén area). We’re set to arrive in Puerto Montt around 2:00 PM. We don’t want to go too far south since we’re planning to explore the heart of Patagonia (Chile and Argentina) with the kids when they’re older. The idea is to spend 3 nights discovering the lakes (up to Cochamó) and 3 nights in Pumalín Park. I’ve also added two transition nights.
7 nights in the Atacama to experience another side of Chile (San Pedro), taking a domestic flight from Puerto Montt to Calama in the early afternoon. We’ll depart for France in the early evening from Santiago.
IMPORTANT NOTICE for those planning to take a bus to another city, state, or destination from Salvador!
Starting January 20, 2026, the intercity bus station Rodoviária is changing its address!
The Rodoviária is leaving the Iguatemi area and will now be located in ÁGUAS CLARAS (about twenty kilometers from downtown Salvador).
A brand-new station (the most modern in Brazil) has just been set up there, accessible by car/taxi/Uber/metro.
Allow for much more transfer time (especially during rush hours), so leave early if you're heading to Chapada Diamantina or other Brazilian cities by bus.
Remember, there are also private transfers (even French-speaking ones) that can take you directly from your hotel in Salvador to your hotel in Chapada. Sure, it’ll be more expensive, but you’ll save on transfer time and comfort.

We're planning a trip to southern Chile in November. Here's our tentative itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Santiago, then a flight the next day to Balmaceda where we'll pick up a rental car to reach Coyhaique.
Day 3: Walk in the Coyhaique National Reserve, then continue to Puerto Chacabuco. Return to Coyhaique for the second night.
Day 4: Drive to Villa Cerro Castillo for a hike in the national park. Continue to Puerto Tranquilo and stay there for 3 nights.
Day 5: Boat tour on Laguna San Rafael.
Day 6: Day trip to Monte San Valentin Glacier.
Day 7: Excursion to the Marble Chapels, then drive to Puerto Guadal. We'll stay there for 3 nights.
Day 8: Walk along Lago Carrera and return to Puerto Guadal.
Day 9: Rio Baker Valley and, if possible, a glacier excursion.
Day 10: Drive to Cochrane and hike in Tamango National Reserve. We'll stay 2 nights in Cochrane.
Day 11: Walk in the Chacabuco Valley.
Day 12: Drive to Caleta Tortel. We'll stay there for 2 nights.
Day 13: Cruise in the Rio Baker delta.
Day 14: Return to Cochrane.
Day 15: Return to Balmaceda in two stages.
Day 16: Continue the return journey.
Day 17: Return the rental car and head back to Santiago.
After this, we're also planning to explore northern Santiago. I'll post about that part once I have a clearer idea of the route.
What do you think of this itinerary? Is it doable in 17 days?

Hi everyone, French travelers in Chile—what credit cards do you use for your various car rentals in the country? I’m traveling in September and was planning to switch my regular debit card (a VISA PREMIER in deferred debit mode) for the deposit guarantee.
My rentals are with Figal in Punta Arenas, Econautos in Arica, and Chilean Rent a Car in Temuco, and all of them want the deposit on a credit card. For me, deferred debit *should* work, but I’ve read comments saying the opposite.
How’s it actually working on the ground with these rental companies right now? Will a deferred debit card work, or not at all?

From what I’ve found, there’s a *combi* (bus) that leaves from Puno to go to Llachon. Where do you catch it? What are the schedules and frequency? Does it take about 1 hour?

I just got back from a trip to Bolivia and wow—what a wake-up call. It’s not the easiest country, but it’s absolutely stunning.
I started with Isla del Sol, perfect for easing into the altitude at a relaxed pace. Try to stay in the northern part of the island—it’s quieter and the views are insane. And the trout there? Unreal. Quick tip: bring cash in small bills; they almost never have change, and cards are rarely accepted.
Next up, La Paz. The city’s pretty wild, built in every direction. I did a few hikes in the area, including the famous Charquini Lagoon (the blue lake) at over 5,000 m—let’s just say I struggled 😅 but it was so beautiful it was totally worth it.
After that, I headed to Sajama. It’s cool, especially for the hot springs, and I stayed in Tomarapi. But honestly, if you’re short on time, you can skip it without too many regrets.
The highlight of the trip: the Salar. I did it starting from Tupiza, and I *highly* recommend going Tupiza → Uyuni. Way less crowded at the start and the landscapes are super varied. For the tour, I used SplitYourGuide to find a group, and it worked out great. Super handy for splitting costs and meeting people.
I wrapped up in Sucre—this city is gorgeous, all white, with such a chill vibe. And the salteñas + ice cream? Next level 😋
Bottom line: Bolivia’s a bit rough around the edges, sometimes exhausting (shoutout to the altitude), but it’s 1000% worth it.

I was planning to go to Réunion and stay in half-board accommodation with non-professionals, but it seems that’s not really the custom there—or maybe my budget isn’t big enough.
So, since I’ve already traveled around Ecuador and Peru, I’m now looking at Argentina, especially for its mountains (like the ones in Réunion that tempted me, even though—frustratingly—I could only admire them from below).
I plan to get around by bus and don’t know in advance where I’ll sleep, so I won’t book ahead. If I like a place, I might stay for several days.
I know that in Chile, it’s easy to find half-board accommodation, but what about in Argentina?
I’d like to stay with locals in half-board without it being a professional setup. I’m not sure if this is common practice there. It’s up to me to find someone willing to host me.
What do you think?
What would be a fair price (keeping in mind that 40 to 50 € is the max I can spend on accommodation, breakfast, and dinner)?

We’re heading to Patagonia for three weeks in November, starting from Coyhaique in Chile.
We won’t have a car, and I’m struggling to find information about transportation options for a few parts of the itinerary we’d like to do:
1) From Perito Moreno (the town, near Los Antiguos), we’d like to travel down Ruta 40 to visit Perito Moreno National Park and then cross into Chile via the Paso Roballos (at the latitude of Bajo Caracoles) to reach the road to Cochrane. Without a car, it seems we’ll need to use private agencies to get to the national park—do you have any recommendations or suggestions? Also, does anyone know if it’s possible to cross into Chile via Paso Roballos (from Bajo Caracoles) without a rental car? That is, without having to go all the way down to El Chaltén or back up toward Perito Moreno/Los Antiguos, etc.?
2) The second stretch that seems a bit tricky (though still easier, in theory) is from Caleta Tortel to Villa O’Higgins on the Chilean side. Do we have to go back through Cochrane, or are there ways to get directly from Tortel to Villa O’Higgins?
3) Finally, we’d like to hike into Argentina (El Chaltén) from O’Higgins. Any recommendations for this? Do we need to go through an agency? What’s the estimated duration of the trek?
As you’ve probably gathered, we want to visit some off-the-beaten-path spots but don’t have a car, so we’re looking for the best possible compromises.

we’re planning a round trip from San Pedro de Atacama, Chile, to Salta, Argentina, in two months. On the way there, we’ll take the northern route via Susques, Route 27, then 52. But for the return, we were thinking of taking the southern route via San Antonio de los Cobres, Route 51, then 23. Is it similar to the northern route in terms of road surface? How busy is it, and are there gas stations? Basically, should we be worried about doing it in an SUV that’s supposedly 4x4 but has regular road tires and no second spare wheel, obviously...
I’ve seen that we can stop over in San Antonio de los Cobres.

we’ll be in Calama at the end of March 2026, and I’m looking for a reliable car rental there for a 7-day road trip to Salta, Argentina. But I’m struggling with the car rental agencies in Calama because the reviews can be scary. I saw Gyg, which has great ratings, but I’m a bit wary (5/5 from 59 reviews—either the guy’s amazing or it’s fake...), but I can’t find any recent reviews on VF in general.
For Punta Arenas, I booked with Dachelet and didn’t have any issues with email exchanges.

We especially love nature: hiking, wildlife watching, birds, etc.
We’re planning to wrap up with a week around Paraty and Ilha Grande.
We’re not really into visiting big cities like São Paulo or Rio unless you think we’d be missing out big time.
