Nous sommes deux lycéennes françaises qui aimerions partir aux Etats Unis pour refaire notre terminale. Pensez vous que cela est possible?
Nous ne voulons pas passez par un organisme car cela augmenterai le prix de notre projet et aussi parce que nous voulons nous débrouiller par nous même.
Nous avons donc plusieurs questions:
1/ Avez vous des idées de villes “sympa” pour nous sachant qu’on ne veut pas une ville trop grande ou il y a des énorme route mais pas non plus un petit village perdu? On aimerait une ville assez vivante qui comporte des activités, des magasins, des cafés, ...etc. Nous aimerions habiter en appartement, si possible en centre ville, donc ce serait bien qu’on puisse faire des choses à pieds et qu’on ne sois pas toujours obligées de prendre la voiture.
2/ Connaissez vous les Etats dont les vacances d’été sont similaires à celles de France? Nous aimerions aller dans un Etat pour lequel la rentrée serait le plus tard possible.
Si vous connaissez les dates de n'importe quel Etats, qu’il réponde à nos critères ou non, nous sommes preneuses car nous pourrons ainsi “trier” les Etats.
3/ Pour la voiture nous pensions en acheter une là bas car c’est beaucoup moins cher qu’en France et puis ensuite sois la ramener par bateau soit la revendre. Connaissez vous les démarches à faire aux Etats Unis pour acheter une voiture? (les papiers, assurances...etc, comment s’y prendre?)
4/ Que nous conseillez vous pour le forfait de téléphone:
- en prendre un nouveau aux USA et arrêter celui français
- modifier notre forfait français afin de pouvoir communiquer aux Etats Unis
Nous ne savons pas ce qui reviendrait le moins cher, et ce qui serait le plus pratique
5/ Auriez vous des sites à nous proposer qui regroupent des annonces de locations de longue durée aux États Unis?

Je ne voudrais pas faire la rabat joie mais je pense que votre projet va être difficile à mettre en oeuvre si vous n'avez pas déjà un contact avec un lycée qui vous accepterait ( ce que je suppose puisque vous vous posez la question du choix de la ville).
Avez vous pris connaissance des règlements, concernant les visas, le fait d'avoir à payer les frais de scolarité, etc etc...avez vous un financement pour vivre une année là-bas- logement, nourriture, frais de scolarité, assurance maladie, loisirs etc etc , puisque vous ne pourrez pas avoir un job à côté?
L'avantage de partir avec un organisme serait de vous faciliter les démarches administratives et d'avoir un logement en arrivant.

En fait, c'est beaucoup plus cher si vous ne passez pas par un organisme car vous devez payer le lycée plus la famille.
Pour obtenir un visa il vous faudra prouver que vous disposez des moyens financiers de payer 10 mois et même comme cela ce n'est pas sûr que vous ayez un visa.
Nous sommes "gâtés" de vivre en Europe, nous ne connaissons pas le souci de la demande de visa si nous souhaitons étudier en Irlande, en République Tchèque, aux Pays-Bas, en Grèce ou en Suède...
Donc, si vous voulez aller étudier aux Etats-Unis, vous devez passer par un organisme. Il en existe plusieurs: WEP, PIE, SILC, STS...
Sinon vous pouvez essayer d'étudier dans un pays anglophone, le plus simple étant l'Irlande.
Autre possibilité: aller dans un CEGEP québécois et y préparer un DEC (sorte de Bac et bac+1, le programme dure 2 ans, et si un jeune bachelier souhaite s''inscrire en école de commerce, d'ingénieurs, ou de sciences au Québec il doit soit paser par cela soit passer par une "année préparatoire" permettant de rattraper la 2e année de DEC.. Il existe même des cegeps anglophones, comme John Abbott, Dawson, ou Champlain. Les élèves de Cegep, dits "collégiens" sont autorisés à travailler et conduire, ils vivent soit en résidence universitaire ("collégiale") soit en appartements en colocation.

Non nous ne nous sommes pas encore renseignées pour avoir les visas mais nos parents savent faire donc cela n'est pas un problème.
Pour le lycée ils sont normalement gratuits en étant publiques non?
Pour l'argent nous allons économiser jusqu'au moment de partir, nous sommes en première donc nous avons encore le temps de faire des économie.
Pour l'assurance maladie on n'a pas d'informations par contre? Est ce que c'est obligatoire et si oui est ce que c'est cher?
Parce que nous avions prévu de prendre les médicaments essentiels du type doliprane...etc mais normalement nous n'aurons pas besoin d'aller chez le médecin, où ce sera 1 seule fois exceptionnellement.
Pour le lycée vous connaissez les conditions d'accord? Est ce qu'ils voudront bien nous accueillir ou c'est peu probable?

Justement nous ne voulons pas aller dans une famille, nous aimerions vivre de manière autonome en allant au lycée.
Pour le visa nous ne savions pas qu'il fallait prouver tout cela, nous nous renseignerons.
Pensez vous qu'il existe des organismes qui nous permettent de vivre en appartement de manière autonome et de refaire notre terminale aux USA? Si cela n'est pas trop cher nous voulons bien mais nous avons peur que nos volontés ne soient pas trop exaucées...
Le lycée ne sera pas gratuit, vous devrez payer les tuition fees. Je ne sais pas à combien cela se monte.( une de mes filles est partie au Canada comme cela il y a plusieurs années, c'était 250$ par semaine....) L'assurance maladie est INDISPENSABLE, de toute façon obligatoire, ,. Bien sûr que vous n'avez pas l'intention d'aller chez le médecin mais vous pouvez avoir une appendicite ou un accident et les frais médicaux US sont extrêmement élevés. Je ne sais pas si vous arriverez à économiser assez, j'imagine qu'il vous faut prévoir au moins 30 à 40'000$....Un organisme sera moins cher.Et pour les visas, même si vos parents sont au courant pour les démarches, cela reste un problème de les obtenir.....
La seule solution si vous voulez être en appartement, c'est le Québec et les Cegeps.
Les élèves de high school sont mineurs et doivent vivre avec une famille. Certains organismes n'acceptent pas les plus de 18 ans pour cette raison.
Les Cegeps acceptent les demandes pour le 1er février et le 1er mars (pour les internationaux).
Ensuite il y a un rattrapage au 1er mai. Donc votre dossier doit être prêt pour ces dates.
Il y a plusieurs possibilités de dossier: au SRAM (région de Montreal), SRACQ (région de Québec), SRAL (région du St Laurent) et Canadian CommonApplication (deux cegeps anglophones: Dawson et Champlain St Lambert).
Attention, les frais de scolarité ont triplé pour les Français qui viennent étudier au Québec. Il n'y a plus d'accord, sauf pour les études universitaires de 2e cycle. De plus, de nombreux programmes sont réservés exclusivement aux Québécois.

Il me semble que les cegeps ne prennent que des bacheliers.
Mes nièces sont passées par ce cursus, mais attention, elles parlaient correctement l'anglais (cours obligatoires pour mise à niveau en anglais) et avaient leur bac.
Elles sont parties pour faire une spécialisation (qui était fonction des besoins du Quebec et non pas ce qu'elles désiraient).
Comme le précises Myos, il y a des accords d'échange entre la Gpe et le Quebec. Le nombre de places est limité. Peut--être que votre région a aussi ce type d'accords.

After living for many years in the West (Belgium, Italy, Switzerland),
I’ve decided to return and settle in Cameroon, my home country.
Currently an entrepreneur in real estate and transport, I’m looking for a partner / partners / foundation to collaborate on an agriculture project, as I own 10 hectares of land.

WEP offers loads of different projects, including one I really like: helping and volunteering on a farm, particularly in South America (Peru or Argentina).

Our departure time is getting closer (we have less than 2 years left—it’s both a long time and so short!). To start preparing seriously, we’ll need quite a bit of info. If anyone knows the rates charged by movers for a crate to French Polynesia, or what pitfalls to avoid (I know you can get quotes directly from movers, but I’d love insights from actual customers😉).
