On m'a assure que l'on pouvait obtenir un visa de transit en se presentant directement a un poste frontiere turkmene avec un visa pour le pays suivant.
Je n'ai lu partout que la longue course aux visas via les ambassades,
quelqu'un aurait-il experimente cette facon la d'obtenir un visa de transit turkmene?
Ce serait genial car c'est un sacre gain de temps...
Les prix seraient-ils les memes?

dasn ce pays , les decisions de delivrance de visas sont soumise a rude epreuve et surement geré par quelques gradés surment pas en place aux frontieres !

NON, il n'est pas possible de recevoir son visa de transit à la frontière. Le visa de transit s'obtient dans une ambassade ou un consulat. A Tashkent, il faut compter 2 semaines (durant lesquelles on garde notre passeport). La seule façon de récupérer son visa à la frontière est de postuler pour un visa touristique. Il faut contacter une agence agrée (Stantour par exemple) qui organisera le voyage avec un guide officiel. Elle s'occupera des formalités administratives et la plupart du temps votre visa de tourisme vous sera remis au poste frontière: vous évitez ainsi les tracasseries administratives. Bien sûr, cette solution coûte plus cher!

Bonjour, nous sommes dans les mêmes tracasseries concernant l'obtention d'un visa turkmène pour le mois de mai 2010. Le problème est la lettre d'invitation nécessaire au visa touristique. A priori si tu n'est pas intéressé par une prestation de voyagiste sur place je pense que personne ne t'en fournira une, c'est du moins ce que j'en ai déduit suite à un mail que j'ai envoyé à une agence au Turkménistan. A priori nous allons donc opter pour un visa de transit qui lui ne nécessite pas de lettre d'invitation. Mais le souci c'est qu'il ne faut pas louper la date d'arrivée dans le pays !! A l'ambassade on m'a dit que c'était un visa de 5 jours avec date fixe toutefois il peut être décalé de cinq jours maxi. D'autre part pour un visa de transit tu doit obligatoirement avoir sur ton passeport le visa du pays suivant, pour nous ce sera le visa ouzbek. Celui ci par contre semble simple à obtenir car il n'y a plus de lettre d'invitation à fournir. Je pense qu'il faut quand même vérifier une nouvelle fois les infos du visa de transit turkmene pour n'avoir aucune surprise à l'arrivée, sachant que pour nous l'arrivée se fera en bateau. Bon voyage

Oui j'ai bien lu ton post sur la procédure à Tachkent, il est vraiment très bien fait et je pense d'une très grande aide.
Je voulais simplement vérifier si par hasard des voyageurs n'auraient pas tenté autrement, on ne sait jamais.
par ailleurs, on m'a dit qu'à Almaty il y avait beaucoup de moins de monde dans les files d'attente à l'ambassade du Turkménistan et donc que il était plus "simple" d'obtenir un visa de transit qu'à Tachkent.
Je pense que j'essaierai ça, même si la frontière kazak/turkmène doit être mois rigolote que les autres, cela dit, les no mans land des frontières ne sont jamais rigolo...

" sachant que pour nous l'arrivée se fera en bateau " : cela voulait dire que l'on voulait prendre un bateau à Bakou pour arriver à Turkmenbachi au Turkménistan. Mais nous avons changé un peu notre itinéraire car les visas Turkmènes et d'Azerbaïdjan nécessitent une lettre d'invitation que nous n'aurons jamais puisque nous ne passons pas par une agence de voyage. Nous allons donc éviter ces deux pays en passant par la mer Caspienne soit de Turquie, soit de Géorgie. Il y a des ferries à partir de Trabzon. Ensuite nous passerons en Russie puis au Kazakhstan, ensuite Ouzbékistan, Tadjikistan et enfin le khirghistan.
Eviter les ferries de la Caspienne me paraît une sage décision ; mais je ne saisis toujours pas quel sera votre itinéraire.
Vous voulez passer en Russie à partir de la Géorgie ? A ma connaissance, cette frontière est actuellement fermée !
Voilà quelques explications en ce qui concerne notre itinéraire. Nous partons de France le 10 mars 2010 et nous serons de retour le 10 août. Notre projet d'origine était d'aller jusqu'en Mongolie, mais nous avons 5 mois devant nous et cela nous a paru trop loin d'aller jusque là bas. De plus nous voyageons avec deux enfants. Donc nous avons décidé de nous arrêter au khirghistan. Notre itinéraire a été aussi modifié à cause de la difficulté d'obtenir les visas turkmènes et D'Azerbaïdjan. De plus la traversée de la mer Caspienne ne nous inspirait pas grand chose ! Le début du trajet, c'est donc l'Italie - Croatie - Serbie-Bulgarie-Turquie. En Turquie une autre solution aurait été de passer en Iran (pour éviter la mer Caspienne) mais le tarif du carnet de douane est de 150 % du prix du CC à laisser en caution via l'automobile club (on ne prendra pas le risque de perdre une telle somme). Ensuite le problème du visa turkmène se posait aussi : donc solution éliminée !!! La deuxième solution est de prendre un ferries à Trabzone en Turquie qui nous amène en russie à Socchi. Ensuite nous passerons au Kazakhstan, puis en Ouzbékistan Khirghistan Tadjikistan et le retour se fera par le Kazakhstan puis la Russie, l'Ukraine, la république tchèque ....La troisième solution c'est de prendre un ferries en Géorgie pour rejoindre la Russie à Socchi, j'attend des infos sur cette possibilité là). Et la quatrième solution c'est de passer par voie terrestre de Géorgie en Russie. Cette frontière est actuellement fermée depuis 2006 mais elle va réouvrir en mars 2010 !! Donc pourquoi pas.
Je vais donc faire le visa russe double entrée puis le visa Khazak double entrée.
Voilà c'est donc un peu compliqué mais ça commence à s'éclaircir !!
Pour le visa turkmène je comprends la difficulté, mais quelle est-elle pour le visa pour l'Azerbaïdjan. D'après nos infos, il ne semble pas compliqué à obtenir à Tbilisi.

Il est vrai que si les relations Géorgie - Russie étaient tendues ces derniers temps, il y a un risque que la liaison maritime ne fonctionne pas. Quoiqu'il en soit sur le site de ferryline.com tu as les horaires de ces dernières. J'attends des infos plus précises à ce sujet. Sinon, peu importe nous prendrons le ferry de Trabzone en Turquie.

En effet, il semble possible de le faire à Tbilissi : vérifie quand même qu'on ne te demandes pas de lettre d'invitation !! Pour nous de doute façon ce n'est plus la peine de penser à l'Azerbaïdjan parce qu'après on est coincé pour passer de l'autre côté, c'est soit le Turkménistan, soit l'Iran. Mais je viens de me rappeler avoir lu qu'en Turquie à Istanbul (pays qui entretien de bonnes relations avec le Turkménistan) tu peux faire ton visa turkmène en quinze jours. A vérifier aussi. Malheureusement je ne me rappelle plus où j'ai lu cette info !!

Je souhaite (comme vous je pense) franchir la mer caspienne pour me rendre au turkménistan puis ouzbékistan, kazakhstan, chine etc... Il me semble que trouver un bateau entre Baku et le turkmenistan n'est pas aisé. Est ce que vous auriez des infos là dessus ?

Bonjour, nous avons abandonné l'idée de traverser la mer caspienne car ce qui était compliqué pour nous c'était l'obtention du visa turkmène. En effet en passant par voie terrestre, il faut une invitation ou des réservations d'hôtel ou un séjour organisé par une agence sur place, ce qui n'était pas le cas pour nous car nous sommes en camping car. Quoiqu'il en soit je pense qu'il est possible d'obtenir un visa turkmène malgré ces difficultés. Pour nous les démarches étaient trop longues et c'est le manque de temps qui nous a fait changer. En ce qui concerne le bateau j'ai lu plusieurs récits de personnes qui l'ont pris mais je n'ai pas enregistré les liens, je suis désolé. Par contre, je joins une réponse à un mail que j'avais envoyé à une agence sur place, il s'agit de stantour. Le bateau c'est pas le problème même si je pense que ce sont des bateaux de qualités moyennes. Le pbl c'est les visas, car il faut aussi avoir le visa de l'Azerbadjian et ils demandent aussi une lettre d'invitation !!! Sinon, pour éviter le visa turkmène il a aussi un bateau qui part de Baku et qui arrivent au khazakstan mais là j'ai lu des récits qui indiquent des bateaux de piètres qualités !! Nous on a donc choisi de prendre un ferry en Turquie à Trabzone qui arrive en Russie à Sotchi, ensuite ce sera le Khazakstan puis l'ouzbékistan etc ... On évite donc les tracas administratifs même si j'aurai quand même bien aimé aller en Azerbadjian et au Turkménistan. Bon courage pour la suite des préparatifs, nous le départ c'est dans quinze jours !!!

For a Turkmenistan (TM) TOURIST visa, in order to enable us to provide you
with an LOI, we will need a detailed service booking with fixed dates. The
minimum cost of this will be about USD 100..130 per day per person for a
standard overland routing if you are two or three or 140..200 if you travel
alone, for paperwork, transport, guide and accommodation B&B. We will be
glad to make a detailed offer or join you up with other clients at a lower
cost, if you can make some preliminary indications of what you would like to
do and when you wish to travel.
You will be free to move around Ashgabat and its surropundings on your own,
but everywhere else our car & guide are mandatory. Please bear in mind that
invitation processing can take 2-3 weeks. Marginal Child discounts normally
apply.
The only alternative for independent travel would be a transit visa which is
sometimes granted for a maximum of 5..7 days with fixed dates and is issued
on the grounds of the Iran / AZeri and Uzbek visa. Transit visa processing
AT THE EMBASSY takes 10-14 days and there is no guarantee of approval. We
cannot assist with transit visa and no LOI can be issued for them.
The boats between Turkmenbashi (TB) and Baku usually go at least once per
day and without fixed schedule. We can no longer purchase Tickets in
advance, but subject to availability of (limited) seats you should be able
to get a ticket on the spot for about 100 USD incl. the cabin. Usually the
sailing takes 12..15 h, plus the time needed for mooring etc. We normally
assume departures in the late afternoon and arrival the next morning BUT
recently delays of 1..3 days have become the rule.
I trust this assists, we will also be glad to assist further on in Central
Asia, Caucasus, Iran and Russia!

sophie & moi sommes en camion à Istanbul depuis mardi dernier (23/03/2010).
Nous allons jusqu'au Kirghiz via : Turquie, Géorgie, Azeb, Turkhmène, ouzèk, Tadjik and KGZ.
Nous revendons le camion sur le marché de Byshkek, sortons le tandem et allons faire le tour de l'Himalaya et revenir en France.
Ici nous avons aujourd'hui déposé notre demande de visas UZ (Ouzbèk). nous devrions le retirer mercredi. je vous tiendrai au jus..
Ensuite nous essayerons le visas turkème d'ici aussi.
Puis le visas Azerb dépuis Tbilissi.
la traversée de la mer caspienne via bakou semble très chère. Un ami l'a passé avec sa vieille citroën traction en automne 2009 pour 250 $ pour la caisse et 120 $ par personne.
Pour un gros sprinter merco surper rallongé ça va douiller.

Sinon petit conseil : J'ai rouler en solo depuis la France en 2008 jusqu'en kirghizie et je suis passé par la Roumanie, Moldalvie, Ukraine, Russie et Kazakstan.
Si je devais revenir en kirghizie, je n'hésiterai pas à reprendre cette même route car l'Azerbaïdjain, le turkménistan sont trés chers et remplis de galère.
La russie n'est plus comme on le dit. C'est Génial.
Les 3 villes de russie où je suis passé : Rostov na danu; Elista et Astrakan.

Bonjour, nous sommes actuellement en asie centrale (plus precisement au tadjikistan). c Est vrai que les visas c est un peu galere mais de toutes facon ca vaut tellement le coup de faire le voyage qu on oublie vite les galeres. On rentre en France mi aout et donc a partir de cette date je pourrai repondre a tes questions plus facilement. Pour info on a pris un ferry de trabzone en turquie pour Socci en russie. On a paye 450 $ pour le CC 50 $ par adulte et 30 $ par enfants. On a attendu le bateau trois jours et peut etre avons nous eu de la chance de pouvoir embarquer avec notre CC car un autre couple a tente la meme chose un mois plus tard et il n ont jamais pu avoir de place donc ils sont passe par la georgie pour prendre un ferry qui les a conduit a Odessa pour 1200 $ !!!

I’ll explain my situation.
Unfortunately, I lost my passport, and I only realized it two weeks before my departure for a humanitarian mission in Libya. I’m a nurse, and this mission really means a lot to me.
First, I applied for an emergency passport, but it was denied by the Val-d'Oise prefecture on the grounds that a planned humanitarian mission wasn’t considered an urgent reason.
So, I submitted a biometric passport application on July 20th. Since then, the tracking has been stuck, and the town hall can’t (or won’t) give me any clear information. Every time I call, I get a different story. The last update I received was that the passport had been produced since July 23rd with a status of "about to be shipped," but nothing since then.
I’ve managed to push my departure back to next Tuesday at the latest, but I’m starting to really panic.
Have any of you submitted an application around July 20th, especially in Val-d'Oise (95)? How long did you wait between the passport being produced and it being available at the town hall? Is it normal for this step to take this long?
This mission means so much to me. I had everything organized, and I’m also supposed to attend a friend’s wedding right after near the border.

I have to leave for Perth, Australia in a week, for 7 days, and I couldn’t get my international driver’s permit due to processing and delivery delays.
The information I’ve found about whether an international permit is required is contradictory. Some sources say you need one, others say you don’t.
Could anyone let me know if an international driver’s permit is necessary to rent a car in Australia (Perth), or if a French license is enough for a 7-day rental?
I’m a bit embarrassed because I need to travel to Quebec from February 27th to March 13th. I’m a regular visitor to Canada—this will be my 10th trip since 1997, plus a year as a permanent resident (2000–2001) and a cross-country run from Vancouver to Halifax in 2011. So, I’m definitely not a terrorist!
But since our last trip in July 2015, they’ve introduced this eTA thing. Seems more like a way to make money than to actually secure Canada, if you ask me, but anyway, that’s not the point.
I applied for an eTA for myself, my wife, and our two kids. They all got approved within hours, but not me! I was asked to create a GC key and then an IRCC account, which I did. Normally, you get news within 72 hours, but since Monday, January 15th, nothing!
In the "message" section of the account, it says "explanation letter (required)" with a deadline of January 25th, but I can’t find any explanation anywhere—despite searching the Canadian government website and Google. No links, nothing!
I’ve emailed them but haven’t heard back yet. I’m thinking of calling the Canadian embassy in Paris tomorrow. Even though I’m not stressing yet, it’d be a bummer if everyone else got to go without me!
If anyone’s had this issue before or knows what this explanation letter is about, I’d love to hear more.

I’m heading to Seoul in September, and to do that I need to get a travel authorization that we apply for through K-ETA....... turns out I can (barely, I admit) fill out the form up to the address of our "stay location," but every address I’ve entered has been rejected by the system. I’ve tried my hotel, the Lotte Hotel (which is well-known in Seoul), the airport—basically, I’ve entered at least 20 addresses, all rejected....
So, to anyone who’s successfully gotten the authorization, could you tell me which address you used to get that "elusive" approval?...

I’m planning a trip from France to Alberta/British Columbia, and I’m unsure about which bank card to use for the security deposit with the rental company (I’m thinking of going with AVIS).
I contacted Avis Canada, and they told me a credit card is absolutely required. I asked my bank for a credit card (a *real* credit card), but they only offered me a deferred debit card.
My question: For a rental with Avis Canada, is a Gold International Mastercard deferred debit card usable for the security deposit needed to finalize the rental? Is the "CREDIT" label enough? (Some cards say "CREDIT" and others say "CARTE DE CREDIT"—seems minor, but it’s actually a big deal in how the card works.)
I’ve seen conflicting info everywhere I look... My bank says it’s *usually* okay (the deferred debit card), while Avis Canada insists it *must* be a credit card, not debit—even when I mention the deferred debit card.
I know the whole credit card concept is already confusing, and on top of that, some sites say a deferred debit card counts as a credit card, while others say it doesn’t.

I bought a one-way flight (Ryanair) and a return flight (EasyJet) to spend a week in Morocco in April.
My passport expires 3 weeks after the return date.
Some websites say the passport must be valid for 3 months at the time of entry.
However, it will still be valid both on entry and return, but its validity will only be 1 month at the time of entry (and 3 weeks on the return date, everything prepaid).
It's an individual family trip.
The consulate can't give me an answer—they're still looking into it (really!)
Last year, we stayed for 3 months in Thailand, north of Khao Lak, and were able to benefit from the 2-month visa exemption, renewable for one month by going to Takua Pa to validate a 1-month extension (1,900 baht).
This year, it’s a disaster for us—not only were we planning a 4-month stay, adding a visa run in between (which some say is quite risky), but the law is apparently changing in the coming months with the return of the 1-month exemption (plus the usual 1-month option). So, we looked into applying for a 6-month multiple-entry visa, allowing a maximum of 60 consecutive days in Thailand. However, I can’t find anywhere the minimum time required outside Thailand between two stays—do any of you have an idea?

If I get this visa, once I arrive in Madagascar, I’ll need to provide the same documents to the Ministry of the Interior in Anosy. I’m trying to find an email address or website for the Ministry to check which documents I need to submit (I think they ask for additional ones).

I’d like to know if anyone has already applied for a private visa to Russia with an invitation from a Russian resident.
I traveled earlier this year with an e-visa, but since I want to stay longer, I’ll be visiting my friend who lives in eastern Russia.
For the visa application, does the invitation need to be on an official paper form issued by the Russian ministry? And most importantly, do I need to present the original for the application, or is there an electronic version that can be sent directly to the consulate in France?

I filled out the B2 form to apply for a visa, created an account on Atvis to pay the visa fees and schedule a meet-up, but every time I try to pay with my Boursobank Visa 1st card, they refuse the payment with a message telling me to check my details (address), even though everything is correct. Does anyone know why this is happening, or maybe they don’t accept Visa cards? Are you aware of this?

There are rumors going around about the ETA: it must absolutely be on your smartphone in the "ETA" app.
Paper documents might not be accepted.

We need to apply for a B2 visa because we visited Iran in 2018. It currently costs $185, but they’re planning an additional $250 fee per person for the same visa—it’s been approved but not yet implemented. Does anyone know when this fee will take effect?

I’ve read that China may ask for proof of exit within 30 days (flight ticket or other reservation). Since we’d be leaving by land, I’m wondering how this works in practice.

Did the airline ask for an exit ticket before boarding?
Did Chinese authorities require proof upon arrival?
Is a train/bus ticket to Vietnam sufficient?
Is a cancelable or flexible reservation accepted?

My wife and I are heading to the US.
On her ticket, it only has her maiden name (e.g., Martine DUPOND).
On her passport, it’s written as Martine DUPOND épouse AVRY.
No issues for travel, I hope I did the right thing with the ticket?
Then for the ESTA, is just Martine DUPOND enough, or do I need to include the "épouse AVRY" part like on the passport?

I saw on the French Embassy in Peru’s website and the Peruvian Consulate in Paris’s site that the rule is to have a passport valid for 6 months *after the arrival date* (not the return date).
I arrive in Peru on August 13, 2019 (for about twelve days), and my passport is valid until February 16, 2020.
That’s 6 months and 3 days after my arrival date in Peru. In my opinion, I’m good to go.
But could I still be denied entry if they say I don’t cover the return date or that I’m too close to the 6-month mark?

My departure is slowly approaching, and now that I’ve got my Russian visa sorted, I’m fine-tuning the rest of my trip to Tajikistan. Since the Tajik visa is no longer required for stays under 30 days (for French nationals), I’ll need to visit the Ministry of Interior (OVIR) to register within 10 days of entering the country. No big deal, though, since I had to go there anyway to apply for my GBAO permit. 😉 However, I’ve *seen* several reports from travelers (mostly motorized) mentioning that you need an entry permit for Kyrgyzstan, which has to be arranged in advance at the Kyrgyz Ministry (consulate?) in Dushanbe. Otherwise, you’re *stuck* at the Kyzyl-Art border (with no Wi-Fi, of course, to try and sort it out). The most recent report was from a year ago, so I’d love to know if this is still the case and if it’s indeed at the Kyrgyz Ministry (consulate?) where you need to go for this pre-authorization.
