J'ai appelé Laurent Martrès (PTR => PTS) et il m'a avoué, sous le sceau du secret, préparer une v3 de PTS avec notre ami Philippe (petit cachottier va😏) dans laquelle Rossbeef Canyon est au programme ; mais, comme déjà fait remarquer, attention aux rattlesnakes. Ce canyon, à cheval sur la frontière Hopi-Navajo, sera réservé aux plus méritants. 😉😎😎😎

Pour le tour du monde, oui normalement c'etait: 1 an l'Amerique, 1 an Australie et 1 an Asie. Finalement l'Amerique cela sera 11 mois, pour l'Australie 1 an cela fait aussi beaucoup donc je pense reduire. Mais de tous les continents l'Australie je n'y vais pas pour visiter mais pour apprendre l'anglais. J'ai un master2 en Droit europeen du travail et je suis bilingue espagnol. Mais quand je me suis retrouvé sur le marché du travail, beaucoup d'employeur m'ont dit: Votre candidature nous interesse mais vous parlez pas un mot d'anglais. En faisant ce TDM je veux voyager, decouvrir des gens mais aussi apprendre l'anglais pour avoir plus de chance sur le marché de l'emploi à mon retour.
Allé, je vais au lit! J'attend vos reponses pour ou dormir et si vous avez un hotel à me recommander!
OUI c'est ce que je regardais justement sur google map juste avant que tu me reponde. Mince, je peux pas regarder mes fiches, car elles sont dans la chambre et mon pere dort.
Mais entre Zion et Bryce, il parait que l'un est mieux que l'autre c lequel? Je sais que l'un des deux est magnifique et que si on est bon marcheur on peut descendre le canyon...

c'est sur qu'en mélangeant des considérations politiques, géographiques et culturelles, ça devient difficile de définir des limites qui satisfassent tout le monde ! C'est un peu comme la "guerre" pour le plateau continental sous le pôle nord pour récupérer les hydrocarbures qui s'y trouvent... Depuis que les glaces fondent, certains pays se disent que finalement ces zones sont peut être à eux : ça ne les préoccupait pourtant pas + que ça il y a 50 ans..
Bon là, on est carrément HS : loin de l'Utah et du Nevada... Désolé...
Chaque retour de voyage me permet d'apprécier davantage la beauté des paysages de France.

Je me suis fait la même réflexion... Les USA auront vraiment été survolés là. 😕 Yohann, comment tu vas occuper les 10 mois qu'il te reste ? Je ne dis bien sûr pas qu'il n'y a que les USA en Amérique, mais quand même, c'est du rapide là... (et ne parlons pas du Canada). J'ai vraiment du mal à visualiser comment tu vas occuper ton temps si tu vas si vite partout.

Bravo en tout cas à tous ceux qui ont la patience de servir d'assistance online, moi j'avoue que là, je ne peux pas....
Alors on a beau faire ou ne pas faire de programmes, quelques fois tout part en sucette! PANNE DE BATTERIE de la voiture. On a mi 1h avec mon pere pour partir de Page pour finalement acheter des files de bateries. On a été a Bryce, Parc que je trouve SPLENDIDE! Le hic c'est qu'a chaque arret pour voir les vues...il fallait demander aux gens d'ouvrir leur capot! Je crois que j'ai du leur demander une dizaine de fois. Ce soir on dort juste à coté de Bryce et demain on se fait une marche de 5h, reveillé tres tot et vers 13h on va vers Zion (beaucoup de deçu donc on va peut etre pas trop resté) et Las Vegas vers 22h. Voila pour les Parcs de l'Ouest.
Maintenant faut je prepare l'apres Las Vegas avec la Vallée de la mort et Yosemite car là je suis completement paumé! Je pense que je vais avoir pas mal de question sur le transport avec ces 2 destinations...
Pour le Voyage au Tour du Monde:
J'ai ce projet depuis 3 ans. Depuis trois ans, j'economise à fond. Je pars avec 27 000 euros. Cela vous donne une petite réponse sur le pourquoi je reste seulement 2 ou 3 semaines aux USA (vie chere) et 1 un peu plus de 1 mois sur USA-Canada.
Dans la partie Tour du Monde de ce site, en général, beaucoup sont partie faire un TDM de 1 an et avec 12 000 euros. Pour moi faire un TDM de 1 an cela n'est pas possible au depart je devais le faire. Mais en effet, je trouve qu'il est dommage de faire un TDM si c'est pour se depecher. Donc mon programme 1 an en Amerique ou je dois depenser pour 12 000 euros. La partie Asie-Europe centrale et Moyen Orient qui correspond à la 3eme année est elle aussi budgetisé donc 12000 euros. Et la deuxieme année pour l'Australie, j'ai demandé le Visa Travailleur-Voyageur car la je pense avoir 3 000 euros d'economie avant de trouver un boulot, ce qui me donne un peu de temps pour apprendre la langue ou plutot les bases pour trouver un boulot. Mon programme de TDM serai ainsi
22 septembre au 26 octobre: USA-Canada
26 octobre au 16 novembre: Mexique
16 novembre au 14 decembre: Cuba
15 decembre au 15 janvier: Guatemala
15 janvier au 15 fevrier: Nicaragua
15 fevrier au 29 fevrier: Costa Rica
29 fevier au 15 mars: Panama, Colombie
Mi mars: Je vais au Bresil pour remonter l'Amazonie, c'est mieux de le faire de ce sens car en bateau ont profite du paysage car le bateau se met sur les coté.
Avril: Nord Perou puis visite à voir mes potes du sud Perou
Fin Avril: Salar d'Uyuni; Bolivie, le reste je l'ai deja fais.
Mai-Juin: 1 mois en Argentine ou je vais voter pour les 2 tours de la presidentiel et ou j'y ai deja vecu un an.
Juillet: Chili Ile de Paque.
Aout je retourne en France pour bosser 1 mois et
Septembre 2012 à Aout 2013: Australie
Aout 2013 à Mai 2014: France pour campagne electorale....
Avec 27 000 euros, j'ai du faire le choix de ne pas trop resté dans les pays ou le cout de la vie est tres elevé! C'est le cas des USA, Canada, Costa Rica, Chili qui est devenu assez chers mais aussi de l'Equateur ou j'y reste une ou deux semaines en avril.
On s'amuse bien quand meme! non?
Et puis pour le Mexique, Cuba et le Costa Rica, j'ai des guides! Enfin j'espere quand qu'a de doute je pourrai compter sur vous....
Bon c bon, je viens de faire mon programme pour la suite des evenement. Pour loger sur la vallée de la mort, quels sont vos coups de coeurs des villes proche de la vallée et des hotels en presence?
Dans la Vallée de la Mort tu as le Stovepipe Wells et le Furnace Creek plus cher. J'avais logé au Stovepipe, très bien, rien à redire. Enfin si, le restaurant un peu cher (comme d'hab dans les parcs) avec des nouilles trop cuites (comme d'hab aux USA 😄)
Et avant que tu poses la question: quoi voir à Death Valley! 😛
Si j'ai bien compris, tu dois prendre l'avion jeudi soir à San Francisco et là tu es encore à Bryce canyon...
A ta place je tracerai au plus vite à travers Zion direction Las Vegas demain, et mardi, je traverserai juste Death valley en passant juste par Zabriskie point et Bad Water qui sont plus ou moins sur la route et je roulerai au maximum possible vers Yosemite (halte vers Lee Vining ou Mammoth Lakes). Ça te laisserai le mercredi pour traverser Yosemite et rejoindre San Francisco le soir ou le jeudi matin.
Du côté de Death Valley, inutile de chercher des villes. C'est tout au plus trois baraques qui se courent après.

Si vous pensiez avoir tout vu, la reponse est negative! J'imagine certains se dire:"C'est pas possible, qu'est ce qui lui ai arriver!" Alors deja mon surnom depuis l'age de 15 ans et Pierre Richard!
Depuis 3 jours, c'est à dire depuis Page, la voiture de location ne fonctionne plus! Ou sinon elle fonctionne que si quelqu'un veut bien ouvrir son capot pour mettre un coup de batterie! Donc on a fait, Page, Bryce et Zion comme cela, imaginez le delire à tous les arrets à Bryce!!!
Ce matin, on ramene la voiture à Dollar, s'en suit, 4h de perte de temps, on s'est paumé avec un jeune qui ne savait pas ou se trouver le parking de l'aeroport y tout, je sentais l'agacement de mon pere derriere!
Mais alors, le DRAME arrive à Death Vallée, quand mon pere me dit tiens c bizarre sur le contrat de la voiture on doit la rendre le 19!!! Le 19, le 19...mais c DEMAIN! Non cela doit etre une erreur, j'ai demandé de l'avoir 9 jours! On l'a prie le 11! 11+9=20!!!! Mais bizarrement l'hotel à San Fransisco est aussi pour le 19! Alors que l'on devait dormir à la Vallée de la Mort, je dis rien et prend le volant (j'ai peu en voiture cela a surpris mon pere!). Et me voila à faire du 140...mon pere au bout d'un moment me dit bé on va peut etre manger et trouver une ville pour dormir!!! Bah NON papa, c'est pas possible! On doit rendre la voiture demain est nous sommes à plus de 1 000km de San Fransisco!!!!
L'enguelade a été memorable! On a reussi a pousser la voiture jusqu'a Yosemite, mais papa veut pas y aller mais moi si! Apres tout on rend la voiture demain à 20h!

Quelle chute ? y en a plein.
Notamment vers Yosemite Valley (Bridalveil fall et Yosemite falls). Mais celles là m'ont pas plus scotchée que ça. Elles ont un fort débit en début d'été, mais en octobre, je sais pas...
Un conseil, traversez le parc par la Tioga road, faites une petite halte dans la vallée et filez à SF direct. Vous aurez pas le temps de voir autre chose.

Je parlais beaucoup du 20 car c'été la date de pour rendre la voiture. Mais l'avion pour mon pere est le 22 au matin, donc c'est pour cela que je n'été pas trop inquiet, le plus important l'avion il l'aurait eu.

Bé le voyage avec papa est presque fini! Nous avons rendu la voiture vers 16h le 19 octobre à San Francisco, le jour meme ou nous devions la rendre. Avec une derniere frayeur: Puisque on devait rendre la voiture avec le moins d'essence possible mon pere a joué au feu, car n ous etions tjs pas à San Francisco que le voyant de l'essence c'est allumé!!! On a vraiment cru que nous allions etre en panne sur le pont! Il y a eu un petit soucis à l'hotel, auberge de jeunesse ou la modification que j'avais faite n'avais pas été realisé mais on a bien une chambre pour nous deux...dans une ancienne base militaire!
Mon pere rentre samedi en France, et moi je reste une semaine de plus à San Francisco. Depuis une heure je regarde quoi faire, je vais deja prendre le CITY PASS SAN FRANCICSO et voir ce que je peux faire pour deux jours avec mon pere! Et dans une semaine je pars pour le Mexique.
Encore merci à tous pour ce periple de fou! C'est clair que je m'en souviendrai d'habitudee c'est beaucoup plus simple! Vu l'enguelade sur ma bourde hier on a beaucoup discuté entre papa et le fiston en allant au Parc ce matin pendant 3h! Sur Yosemite nous avons fait la Vallée ce matin, enfin 75% de la Vallée on a pas été jusqu'au Glacier...DEGOUTE!
Mais sans guide comme je viens de le faire c bcp plus difficile, cependant je vais pas m'acheter un guide par pays, mon sac ne va pas le supporter. Faut que je regle ce probleme au plus vite. Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

We’ll be alternating between house swaps, motels, and campgrounds. I’ve booked all the accommodations (except the campground at Bryce since sunset bookings open only 14 days in advance) and the first activities, as well as the most touristy ones.

There are several attractions along the way:

- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

We just finished 9 days in the American West and wanted to share our experience because we had an amazing time.
I know some of you might ask, why use an agency? Honestly, we didn’t really feel like doing all the driving and planning, especially since we didn’t know the area at all. And since our English isn’t great, having French-speaking guides was a big comfort.
We found Emmanuelle and Isabelle, and wow, they were fantastic. It was just the two of us with them, so it was a truly VIP, ultra-personalized experience.
