Thanks for those latest photos. Among all the sites you visited, which ones were your favorites? Thanks, Dorothée.

Where did our preferences go? Hard to say. In terms of landscapes and visits, it was varied—each region had its own strengths. What makes the difference is the human touch, the connections, the encounters. And in that category, Skoura wins hands down, no question. The guesthouse is so nice, it’s really friendly. And the association of women pastry chefs left us with great memories, as did the musician potter. That’s a bit of how we felt. A beautiful trip.

Hi Dorothy,

I just browsed from page 1 to page 6 in your travel journal! It was a pleasure reading you, and you took some really beautiful photos. I also found some info that’ll help me on my next trip (Foum Guid, Tata).

Thanks again, and happy 2018! 🙂

We were also greeted by the date merchants at the entrance to Skoura. I have the photo, but the forum won’t let me post it because it’s not in the right format.

You should plan your itinerary based on your personal tastes: sea, mountains, architecture, deserts. And also depending on the season—it really makes a difference!

Great, I see you can do a lot in 15 days.
TR Trostang Globetrotter ·
You have to make choices, but you can still treat yourself and get a great overview of the country.
DO Dorothy17 Regular ·
When you go away for two weeks, you can afford to spend at least 2 or 3 nights in each place. For me, that’s essential—otherwise, you spend all your time in the car.
VE Vero3000 Regular ·
Absolutely, 2 nights in the same place is the minimum, unless you're just passing through. Sometimes that's the case—you just want to break the journey in half.
TR Trostang Globetrotter ·
The best thing is still not to book your accommodations in advance and to see day by day what you want to do. It sometimes depends on what time you arrive in the evening.

But of course, Morocco has plenty of hostels, so you won’t risk sleeping in the car. No need to worry at all.

We’ll follow your advice. Thanks!

Travelers who are used to getting around Morocco don’t book their nights—or at most, the day before for the next day—but first-time visitors worry about not finding a place to stay. That’s just how it usually goes.
DI Diane2017 Regular ·
We’re planning our first trip. We’re a bit nervous about leaving without any bookings. But if everyone says it’s possible...
KE Kelboulé205 Regular ·
Hi there! Yes, you should definitely travel without reservations—it lets you stay where you feel good and leave if you don’t like it! Morocco has an oversupply of hotels, so there’s space everywhere on the classic routes. The only exception is the Atlantic coast from mid-June to the end of August.
DI Diane2017 Regular ·
You're probably right. Thanks.
HA Hannahannah Globetrotter ·
The only place where I found myself completely stuck (in several years of traveling in Morocco) was the small town of Tata. A rally had booked all the rooms in the two hotels. Like others, for a first trip, I’d say not to worry. Have a great day, Hannah.

And in Marrakech. I always book for my arrival. One year, at Easter, there were no more rooms available at the Hôtel Toulousain, where I usually stay when I arrive.
HA Hannahannah Globetrotter ·
Just like you, MRK, I book if I arrive late in the evening. Another place I love is L'Arganier in Tafraout—I know I’ll always find a place to stay there, but it’s a spot I enjoy staying in, so in that case, I book.

In Marrakech, it's clear that booking ahead is best. Which hotel would you recommend? Reasonable prices, a good location for sightseeing, and of course, clean. Thanks.
TR Trostang Globetrotter ·
I've had my habits at Toulousain for many years now. It's quiet, simple but clean. Breakfast in the patio is a really nice moment. It's easy to access since it's not in the medina.
HA Hannahannah Globetrotter ·
Like Daniel, the Toulousain.

It all depends on the room. You can find double rooms starting at 240 MAD, breakfast included. Check their website.
HA Hannahannah Globetrotter ·
Last time, the downstairs room on the patio was renovated. For a single room at 22 €, I thought the prices had really gone up. Still, I recommend it because it's very well located and pleasant.

Mid-December, the rooms on the right side of the patio, with shared toilet and shower, were 150 € for a single and 220 € for a double B&B. Given the quality of the renovated rooms, there's no reason to be upset about the price increase.
HA Hannahannah Globetrotter ·
I’m not upset about the price. It’s just that when I asked for a single room like usual, they told me it had been renovated and those were the only ones left. Maybe a staff mistake. Otherwise, I still recommend this place—clean and pleasant.

Yes, it must be 220 MAD, with the toilet down the hall and shared showers.
