That's right, my good man... I'm off to Lisbon for a few days and hoping for some sun. See you!

Looks like I'm not the only one cheating on Morocco.
TR Trostang Globetrotter ·
Ah! And where did you go?
VE Vero3000 Regular ·
I think that’s in Vietnam. A beautiful destination too.

Yep...Back on Wednesday. See you!

Hi Céline, How was your trip?

"""Nothing beats pea soup..."""

Do you have the recipe? Winter's coming. ..
HA Hannahannah Globetrotter ·
I tried this recipe—it’s delicious—but I don’t blend it at the end. Some people add a handful of lentils. You can also make the same thing with fava beans. A perfect winter soup! 😛😛 http://mafleurdoranger.com/article-soupe-aux-petits-pois-casses-cuisine-marocaine-88565083/

Thanks Hannah for the recipe. Have a great day.

This looks really good and pretty easy to make.

The weather should be perfect for trying out this great recipe. Temperatures have dropped.

Yes, good point. September is a great month for shrimp.

It's planned for mid-October. So it's coming up soon. How about you?

I just got back from Corsica. We really treated ourselves—it was absolutely amazing. We’re not leaving again right away, but we’re already dreaming about it. Safe travels to you, and keep us posted!
TR Trostang Globetrotter ·
Thanks. On the way back, I'll share my great discoveries. As usual.

Corsica is also a beautiful country; I have a soft spot for Cap Corse and St Florent. Hope to go back someday. If you're looking to see vast desert landscapes, like Morocco but cooler, I just got back from Iceland and posted a travel journal. No Morocco next year either—I need to refill the coffers 😉 Will there be a travel journal about Corsica?

I started... I'll continue... But right now, the garden is taking up my days. And I'll check out your travel journal on Iceland, which I don't know at all. You have to go there in the middle of summer, I guess. See you!

Iceland!!! Did it back in '63/'64 (not sure anymore), for 1 1/2 months, in a Citroën 2CV model Enac or Henac (??), loaded directly onto the deck at the front of the ship (half-freight, half-passenger) in Copenhagen—the Kronprinz Olaf 2, 3, 4, or 5, can't remember the number of that King either!!!. An epic adventure at the time. In a 2CV, you really had to be a bit adventurous, but what memories—and with all the photos, indeed!! Practically no roads like in Morocco several decades ago. Now, it's all big boulevards!!! (A bit of an exaggeration.) No matter, it's an incredible country. Worth seeing and revisiting without limits

Oh wow, that must’ve been quite the adventure!! The total opposite of what we did, but those vast landscapes are still there. In the end, Nature always has the final say out there!

I think every season has its own charm! In summer, there’s practically no night—it’s sunnier, but prices are sky-high! In winter, there aren’t many daylight hours, but you’ve got a better chance of seeing the northern lights, and prices are lower. We rediscovered the vast landscapes of southern Morocco in different colors and discovered volcanoes and the ice cap. Our garden will be the 2019 priority too—gotta refill the piggy bank! See you later!

Hi Dorothy17, Thanks for describing your trip. I’m heading to Morocco with my boyfriend in two weeks. I was a bit worried about it being cold, but I see you went in December and it was hot everywhere?? We’re planning to visit Casablanca, Marrakesh, one night in the desert (I assume Merzouga), and Agadir. In Agadir, was it warm enough to swim in the sea? Thanks in advance! And since I see there are some Morocco experts in this conversation, don’t hesitate to chime in!
LA Lagardevicto Veteran ·
Agadir!!! Why not!! But only if it's to enjoy the beach, okay. With this one caveat: at what water temperature do you find your nirvana? Agadir in the hot season is fine, but come autumn???? It's the Atlantic, not the Mediterranean. At this time of year, you'll only see "wind surfers or kiteboarders," but personally, I've never seen many swimmers there. Good for taking a nap on the beach or trying to get a little sun, if that's your thing. If it's for the city's attractions, let me remind you of the famous earthquake from ??? (several decades ago) that unfortunately destroyed almost the entire city, so now it's almost entirely new. With all the aesthetic consequences that come with that. I find it ugly and completely uninteresting, but to each their own. On the other hand, if you're looking for the same seaside vibe not far from Marrakech, there's Essaouira and its more authentic surroundings (among others). Morocco's Atlantic coastline is quite long and can offer many other more attractive spots than Agadir. Wait for other VoyageForum members to chime in—they’ll add to this and suggest other places. Happy travels

In Agadir, I wouldn’t go for a swim in January, but sunbathing on the beach—why not? Instead of Merzouga, why not consider M’hamid? It’ll be closer if you’re planning that route. Spending a night in the desert in a bivouac at this time of year is mostly a bit long (night falls at 5 PM) and quite cold—even very cold, depending on the year. Next, the key question to answer properly: how will you be getting around—rental car or public transport?
Que se vuelva la tortilla
JA Jackieda Veteran ·
Hi Linda, I’ll add another question to Hannah’s: how long are you going for? For the desert: Merzouga is on the opposite side of Agadir, but there are some gorgeous spots along the way. The night in the desert might be pretty cold and long! But you could book a night in one of the many hostels at the foot of the dunes and watch the sunset in the dunes on camelback!

Great idea! Personally, I’ve been there 2 or 3 times in January and really enjoyed staying at the "Les Dunes d'Or" hostel at the foot of the dunes. In the evening, you can even climb up one to watch the moon rise after enjoying a good meal.
