Is this for the summer (since winter is quite different)? Sure, the landscapes are more classic (and the temperatures much more bearable), but there are some beautiful spots, especially if you like hiking! If it’s not already planned, consider Gaspésie—we liked it even more, and there’s plenty of wildlife too! It’s less epic than the American Southwest but very natural. I think you shouldn’t compare.

Hi Martine,

When I finally make up my mind to properly dive into the prep for September—which I just can’t seem to do

Is it the risk of cancellation that’s demotivating you... or not being able to hit the road with the four of us to go wild? 😉 Joking aside, I hope you can still go or at least reschedule under good conditions. As for me, I was supposed to be in Montreal today. It’s just postponed...

Hey guys and Diamina!! 🙂 So glad to see you're all doing well!!! Diamina: what a beautiful island Martinique is!! We’ve been there three times!! And that Pelée climb is tough!! “If the Pelée is clear, you’ll come back!!” We should go back for the sheer pleasure—last time we saw it without any clouds!!! Gilles: it’s not easy to plan a future trip when you know it might get canceled. We went to Canada in 2007. We loved it, though not with the same irresistible urge to go back and explore more like we have for the US. Still, we had a great tour from Toronto to Montreal, stopping by Niagara Falls, the Thousand Islands, Quebec, the Charlevoix region, Gaspésie, and Lac Saint-Jean. Unfortunately, I lent all my documentation to someone who lost it, and I didn’t keep any travel journals. But I do have all my exchanges with forum users. If you have any specific questions, I’ll take a look!! Pascal: both, my general!!! We’ll act less silly as a duo than with our other two buddies—I feel less pressure for it to be a success, and I’d actually prefer to postpone everything until next year. But anyway, I’ve started working on it. I hope I’ll stick with it—the worst would be to leave with nothing prepared!! I hope you didn’t lose too much with your trip cancellation. Take care, everyone. Cheers, Martine 🙂

Hello, I read your 2019 trip today… I hope you’re still in great shape and that after Covid you’ve been able to resume your travels as a duo or a foursome!!! I noted a lot of details because after 3 weeks in California and all the parks by motorcycle, I’d like to extend the trip by car with my husband to Yellowstone. Thank you so much—I really enjoyed reading your posts. Best travel wishes for 2025! Marie Noëlle

Hi Marie Noelle 🙂 Best wishes for 2025 too. Since our 2019 trip and the one canceled because of Covid in 2020, we returned to the United States, this time more for hiking—first for a loop from Las Vegas in 2023 (revisiting part of our 2017 road trip at a leisurely pace) and then another loop in Colorado and a bit of Utah from Denver in 2024, always for more hiking. And we’re heading back again in September to explore Arizona and New Mexico. On the other hand, our dear friends Mimi and Maumau can’t join us anymore 😢 since they’ve gone to raise horses in the Lot. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you need specific info—I’ll dive back into my notes. Have a great day 🙂
