Here are a few photos I took while wandering around... not all of them made it—I can’t seem to send them because the format isn’t right!!! You never get tired of Palermo...

Thanks for sharing! (I also struggled a bit with the format—I’d compressed the photos to save space, only to find out there was a minimum size requirement for uploading!) Like you, I feel I could’ve easily spent two or three times longer in this city.

Hi, Here are two small maps showing the two areas in Albelgheria and Il Capo where there’s quite a bit to see. For the rest, it’s pretty spread out—you’ll need to comb through the streets to find things. But the historic center isn’t very big, and I love poking around everywhere... plus I had plenty of time 🙂. Happy exploring!

We went in mid-May 2017, spending 3 full days in Palermo plus a bus trip to Monreale (gorgeous), and I can confirm this city is so charming with its "contrasts." Our apartment was 50m from the Capo market (so lively!), 30m from a prayer room behind the metal shutter of a garage, and 20m from a shop where you walk in freely, open the fridge to grab a beer, and leave the money in front of an indifferent guy... Memories!

Apartment and Capo market at the end, trompe-l'œil facade, contrast with the Oratorio.

🙂 Haha, Jean, your description of the apartment’s surroundings is exactly the kind of thing that draws me in!

I love that everyone’s chipping in like this, with little photos of graffiti—keep it coming, don’t hesitate...
