Je m'appelle Damien et je compte venir m'installer entre janvier et mars 2010 en Nouvelle Calédonie avec ma moitié et un autre couple.
Besoin de renouveau, de rencontrer la simplicité et fuir la morosité et l'hypocrisie des français. On a également envie de découvrir une nouvelle façon de vivre afin d'être plus proche de la nature et des gens, les vrais gens qui sont là pour profiter de la vie et ce qu'elle offre !
J'ai beaucoup réfléchi à la destination et c'est la Nouvelle Calédonie et la Polynésie Française que j'ai retenu. Cela fait maintenant 3 mois que je lis beaucoup de forums et de blogs pour connaître les histoires (très riches au passage) et m'imprégner au mieux des us et coutumes. Je vous avoue que je suis de plus en plus impatient de venir vous rejoindre !
Je sais très bien qu'en partant je ne trouverais pas l'ambiance carte postale découverte lors d'un premier séjour en 2004 de 3 semaines (en Polynésie). Mais je ne cherche avant tout la sérénité et je sais qu'en métropole je ne pourrai jamais la trouver.
J'ai fait le constat qu'avec une vie stressante et toute la superficialité qu'elle comporte on est toujours à la recherche de quelque chose qui n'existe pas, on cours après une perfection comme un drogué se damnerai pour sa dose !
J'ai envie de tenter cette aventure qui pourrait m'être salvatrice malgré l'échec possible dans 6 mois ! Et comme le dit le célèbre dicton : Mieux vaut avoir des remords que des regrets !
Je pense partir avec la somme de 10 000 euros et une ralonge de 5000 euros 6 mois plus tard (au cas où) pour 2 personnes. Est ce suffisant d'après vous ?
J'ai bien pris note au fil des posts des difficultés rencontrées au sujet de l'emploi et du logement.
Je suis actuellement en France à mon compte (en vente ambulante de bijoux fantaisies, plaqué-or, acier et montres hommes, femmes, enfants) et désirerai continuer sur le "caillou".
Je ne cherche pas à m'enrichir mais plutôt à créer quelques choses qui pourra peut être servir au plus grand nombre, sans risquer de "piquer" un emploi aux locaux et surtout pourquoi pas ne pas embaucher plus tard un local en échange d'un pays qui m'aura donné ma chance !
Mes questions sont les suivantes :
- Avez vous des bijoux "typiquement métropolitains" ?
- N'ayant aucunes idées des habitudes locales, aimez vous les bijoux et avez vous besoin de montres ?
Ces questions peuvent vous paraître très bêtes mais avec un climat tropical il y a peut être des habitudes de vie différentes, également la question du coût qui peut rentrer en ligne de compte, ce ne sont pas forcément des plaisirs à prix abordables en Nouvelles Calédonie. N'y voyez aucunes moqueries ou autres mauvaises intentions de ma part.

en ce qui concerne ton job local, ici les bijoux ne sont pas tres repandut, mis a part les "caldoches"...
je pense que tu peu tres bien reussir comme te casser la gueule, ici beaucoup de bijouteries, sans compter la douane et autre
tu peux te dire : logement cher (plus cher que paris), voiture cher (1.5* plus cher )....
mais pas d'impots ou tres peu, pas de taxes d'habitation......
tu le verras bien mais il faut quand meme te dire qu'il faut prevoir le bon comme le mauvais

Il me semble, d'après mes recherches, que le marché se situe sur Noumea tous les jours dès 5h du matin. Se sont des étales fixe ou chaque commerçants locaux viennent monter leurs structures ?
tous les types de commerces existent à néa, ceux qui vendent des bijoux fantaisies comme ceux qui vendent des produits de marque. Les prix sont les memes qu' en france quand il sagit de la camelote, voir un peu plus cher.
Les étales du marché son fixes et je ne me souviens pas avoir vu autre chose que de la nourriture ( légumes frais, poissons, viande, etc..)
faut quand même pas rêver, tu arrives en territoire peuplé par des français, donc tu rencontreras les mêmes hypocrites, emmerdeurs ou je ne sais quoi d'autre.
dernier point, personne ne t'attend pour se mettre à l'heure c'est certain 😉 cela dit sans animosité, c'est juste pour ne pas que tu partes sur l'idée du siecle...qui est déjà exploitée.
Je me doutais qu'il y avait ce qu'il fallait mais je savais pas dans quelle proportion ni les prix pratiqués. Je travaille généralement en direct importation (pour la camelote 😉) donc même avec une taxe acquittée de 30% pour la douane je peux avoir des prix vraiment intéressants.
A titre d'exemple, en France je vend des montres pour 6-8 euros. Sont-ce des prix à équivalences identiques chez vous ?
si ta marchandise est fabriquée hors CE tu auras + 10% de taxe ( fabrication, pas la provenance ). Je crois me rappeler que les taxes sont de l'ordre de 37 à 42%
Je pense qu'on trouve des montres ( chinoise, taïwan etc, ) à environ 20 euros.
Je viens de lire ton " Roman", je ne me permettrai pas de donner des conseils, chacun dans son individualité vit sa passion, ses objectifs...
Quand j'étais enfant je disais à qui voulait l'entendre qu'un jour j'irai vivre dans une île au milieu du pacifique, native d'un petit village bien chauvin, j'étais une illuminée, je vivais dans une famille alcoolique, qui ne savait pas aligner un mot correctement sans vulgarité, ce qui m'a aidé à tenir c'est mon rêve d'enfant La Calédonie...
La Calédonie est un pays magnifique je dis bien pays, même si c'est un térritoire...
Quand je suis arrivée j'ai très vite compris les erreurs à ne pas commettre, ne jamais regarder de haut, c'est à nous de nous adapter et pas le contraire...
Je pourrai te donner une longue liste, mais l'essentiel c'est de venir avec son coeur, pas avec son porte monnaie car autrement tu vas vite déchanter...
J'en connais plus d'un qui sont très vite repartit, en laissant de belles ardoises derrrière eux!
Je peux dire que j'ai réussi mon rêve, je ne vis pas à Nouméa, je ne flambe pas, je suis restée discrète, je ne fréquente pas trop de métros, car il s'avère que je n'ai aucune affinités avec "ma vie antérieure", parfois je suis obligée, mais j'écoute, ici c'est petit donc quand tu dis quelque chose, sa ne se perd pas...
Te préoccuper d'une montre je trouve cela bien futile, tu verras ici il y a plein de choses pour dépenser de l'argent comme en métropole!

Je vous expose donc mon envie et mon souhait le plus cher.
Je suis bijoutière (fabricant) j'étais jusqu'à aujourd'hui à mon compte mais j'ai décidé d'arrêter après 7 ans en indépendant.
En cherchant du travail je suis tombée sur une place à La Réunion.
C'est à ce moment là que tout repart.
J'ai toujours voulu vivre dans un endroit qui m'attirait. En l'occurance ce genre d'endroit m'attire, je parle bien sur de la Nouvelle-Calédonie.
J'ai toujours voulu avoir une vie extra-ordinaire. J'insiste bien sur le "extra-ordinaire" en deux mot. C'est à dire pas ordinaire.
Mais, mon métier est la chose que j'aime aussi le plus au monde. Donc, la question que je me pose est la suivante.
Connaissant le marché de la perle en Nouvelle-Calédonie, êtes vous au courant des débouchés qu'il s'y trouve. Est ce qu'il y a beaucoup d'atelier de bijouterie ou pas?
Je pense que dans un premier temps, je vais chercher sur le net des adresses d'atelier et postuler. Le problème qui va se poser, c'est des qu'il va falloir faire un essai chez cet employeur. Si tout de fois j'arrive à en obtenir un ce qui serait vraiment génial! Mais je voulais quand même vous poser la question. On ne sait jamais, si l'un de vous connais ce milieu.
Je ne veux pas prendre la place de quelqu'un de la-bas. Mais je voudrais moi aussi arriver à réaliser mes rêves.

pour ma part, installé ici depuis presque deux ans, la vie est vraiment autre chose que cette vie de merd...en métropole
Pour le métier de la perle, je pense qu'il faut se rapprocher d'un producteur ou bijoutier, Perle de Tahiti ou autre
La zone de Ducos est comme quelques autres zones en Calédonie, tu trouveras des entreprises de ce style, il me semble
les boutiques joailliers, perso, j'en connais pas
Comme quelques mots au dessus, venir en caledonie c'est bien, mais s'immerger dans ce monde avec tous sauf des zozos c'est mieux...

If anyone knows the rates charged by movers for a crate to French Polynesia, or what pitfalls to avoid (I know you can get quotes directly from movers, but I’d love insights from actual customers😉).
