Thanks again for those great moments. I can't wait to go back to my native Alsace for a few days this summer. Best regards

Thanks so much for this beautiful trip! What amazing photos. A corner of the country we’ll have to explore on our next trip to France, planned for next year. Thanks for taking the time to share all this with us!

Thanks for these beautiful photos and the tour of our Alsace. We’re looking forward to the next part for a deeper dive into the south, which has its own charm too. I happily discovered the north (around Strasbourg), which I hardly know. Our walks—since we’re from the southern part of Alsace—tend to head more toward Switzerland and Germany. By the way, I encourage visitors to check out the Three Borders region. Best regards to you all.

Hi there,

Here’s a quick recap of our whirlwind visit to Alsace, where we spent two full days. We stayed in Colmar, a pleasant and fairly central city for the route we wanted to take. Here are a few photos to add to your travel journal:

Colmar:

Turckheim:

Kaysersberg:

And of course, storks! The highest concentration we saw was in Munster: The Munster Valley:

A setback kept us from making it to Strasbourg—maybe next time! Have a great day

Thanks so much for your kind gesture...

I moved to Strasbourg a few months ago, and I have to say your story really resonated with me—it’s helped me take stock of all the places I haven’t explored yet. A huge thanks for this post and the photos; I can’t wait to visit all these spots....
JO Jojoone1 Globetrotter ·
It was a pleasure. Don’t hesitate to come back and leave a little note if you have any thoughts to share.

Thank you so much for your kind words, and also for bringing this story back up—I hope it’ll still be helpful to others!

Thank you for such a kind message, and also for bringing this story back up—I hope it’ll still be helpful to others.

It definitely is. Well, almost... after reading your travel journal, I’m pretty confused now. I’m taking my parents to the Haut-Koenigsbourg soon and I’m planning a stop (visit + meal) in a nearby small town. I initially thought of stopping in Obernai, but your photos and comments have made me doubt it. Obernai, Colmar, Ribeauvillé, Riquewihr... I’m torn now 😉.

Hi there,

Having too many great options—or "rich people problems"—is always a good thing!

If you're looking for a small town, Colmar is a must. For the overall setting, Ribeauvillé is the way to go. And for the most beautiful, Riquewihr takes the crown.

Not sure if I helped much there...
MA Mariecurry Globetrotter ·
No, you didn’t help me at all. 😏

Actually, it’s my mom who needs to like it. And what she loves are "postcard-perfect" scenes. So the idea is to stroll through super cute, super typical streets. With shops selling useless but oh-so-typical stuff (if there aren’t any shops, it’s not gonna work). And to run into typical locals (no, I’m kidding)...

I thought I’d make my dad really happy by taking him to visit the Saint-Pierre brewery. Know it?
JO Jojoone1 Globetrotter ·
No way—with Germany right next door, we weren’t about to drop a quality level by drinking French beer. That said, the reviews online are clearly positive.

So if we had to pick just one, it’d definitely be Riquewihr. I might just run a poll about it, actually.
MA Mariecurry Globetrotter ·
I just looked at some photos of Riquewihr, and it seems perfect. 🙂 I’ll check it out more closely. I’ve got a good week to prepare for this little trip. The feedback on visiting the brewery is actually pretty good. If readers of your travel journal want to share their thoughts, I’d love to hear them.

Thanks for your feedback. And kudos for your writing. I’m in awe of those tireless traveler-storytellers who write on VF. Sharing your travels, writing, and illustrating with photos takes time and is a lot of work. Thank you all. [;]

Unfortunately, some people’s reactions can really make you feel like your efforts aren’t appreciated. Thanks for these kind words and have a great trip!
