King of Wings south of Farmington. 11 miles of dirt road then 1.9 miles of GPS hiking, but the reward is at the end of the trail. Missed it in 2017 due to weather, KOW was worth a whole new trip in 2018!

This journal should have a long life, with so many sources of inspiration 😉 😉

Hi Christian, Huge thanks for sharing this! Dare I say it’s probably a good thing it’s a bit off the beaten path and has to be earned... that likely protects it from destruction. And it keeps it from being overrun by crowds of mindless tourists... I hope this journal will have a long life, that we’ll discover little treasures or share highlights—everything that makes it hard not to find something you love in this part of the world, at least if you make the effort to step off the main path (or get up really early to avoid the crowds when you’re in peak season at the most touristy spots).

We arrived just after sunrise, and 15 minutes later the arch wouldn’t have been glowing anymore. There were slightly fewer people. What a view, though! An amazing effort-to-beauty ratio

Hello. Back to White Sands NP ...

I really like the plant in the foreground, too. I think this beautiful cactus would go well with this scenery...

Based on the trips you describe in your profile, you must have an amazing collection of photos!

Ah: I encourage all readers of this journal to check out your journal on northwest Argentina. AMAZING.

Thanks for the compliment

Oh yeah, I remember that same morning, while you all went to Mesa Arch, we preferred to turn left and ended up almost alone at Dead Horse Point for a magical sunrise!!

And since we're talking about trees, in the same spot...

Or another one at Keys View, Joshua Tree NP

I just discovered your travel journal, and I’m going to savor it slowly 😇😇—because Northwest Argentina just made it onto my shortlist!

Hi Guillaume,

If you have any questions, don't hesitate... On this forum, "Diamina" also posted a great travel report. Looking forward to it!

Hey Fabienne,

Wow, I was away for just one day and there are 4 more pages! 😮 Not too bad for flops like that, right? 😏

Okay, I’ll have to contribute now, but every photo I post raises the bar a little higher!

Haha, it's not just Kim Kardashian who doesn't fit. Some men who are a bit too well-padded don't make it either!

And it's not just the local guys...[;]

Hey Guillaume, You had a good instinct because we did it at sunset last time, but the site quickly falls into shadow. As you can see, the colors aren’t as beautiful.

And this one? How’s it surviving?

Come on, this is a full-blown escape plan!

You’re telling me—it’s a full-blown escape plan!

Swimmer and Othellomoto: check it out—it’s the same little tree that managed to scramble all the way up there!

PS/ Pascal, yeah, the journal’s filling up almost on its own… it’s way less tiring than a regular travel journal… 😉

And this one growing on top of a hoodoo in Capitol Reef:

It's still small, but I wouldn’t bet on that hoodoo lasting much longer...

PS/ Pascal, yeah, it's cool how the journal fills up almost by itself... it's way less tiring than a regular travel journal... 😉

Yep, you’ve figured out the right trick! [;]

Hello to all you adventurers and nature lovers who keep giving us gifts. The photos are all so beautiful... thanks for this great sharing idea. Like all of you, we're drawn to the landscapes of the American West, especially addicted to Utah. We’ve had several favorites that we recognized in your photos, and we’re adding one more: ♥♥♥ the White Domes—a tough hike, a loop via Squirrel Creek and back through Water Canyon. Stunning! Best to go in this direction though.

Hi Philippe, welcome to this travel journal! What an amazing spot! You’re not just a hardcore hiker but also a bit of a trickster—managing to fit 6 photos into one... well done!

I took a closer look at those white domes online. While I was at it, I wanted to share a cool private site I stumbled upon, run by two enthusiasts. It lists sites in Utah, Arizona, etc., provides practical info (difficulty, time needed, etc.), and offers GPS tracks to download. I think it’s really well done!

Check it out—there are tons of photos too. Here’s the link:

Hi there,

This summer, we also really loved this incredibly impressive and deserted spot: Coal Mine Canyon.

All these landscape photos... they're stunning! But this one... there's real emotion. It reminds me of the work of painter Edward Hopper and photographer William Eggleston. The composition, the colors, the feeling of solitude... it's perfect! In short, I love it!

Yes, the Embudo Gas Museum—another reason we love this country...
