Hi there! The grammar police reporting in! First, some ice... then the balm or something like Voltaren, Flexium, etc. (doctors aren’t too keen on it!). Then wrap it tightly with a bandage to act like a splint—it’ll stop the ankle from swelling... and tough luck with the forced rest!

Have a great day, reading or... browsing the forum. Cheers.
MO Moushika Globetrotter ·
the English, seeing my foot, will exclaim: What a fair foot

Get well soon, with your tiger balm...

Thanks. Oh, the English!!😉
MO Moushika Globetrotter ·
Have a good day, reading or... forum. Best wishes.

A bit of both, and also catching up on news and making albums.... Have a good day too

Hi there,

I’m walking normally again now 😛

Amid the gloom, an April Fool’s joke that’s so very Belgian... At first, I was surprised this decision was made now... I read, "*That won’t be practical, and what about Brussels?*" (Hmm, I actually believed it until then )... Then the half-hour story made me laugh out loud... I remembered the date...

I thought the April Fool’s tradition had been fading in recent years, but this year it’s back in full swing. Because of the lockdown?

There’s a good chance... we’ve got a lot of time to fill... and laughter is better for keeping our spirits up. Plus, humans need a few landmarks; an April 1st without even a little joke would feel unsettling.

Speaking of which, while I was waiting in line to enter a grocery store, I saw quite a few people going in and out of a small chocolate shop that was only selling little Easter eggs these days. There won’t be any family gatherings this year, but the bells will still come by for the kids.
MO Moushika Globetrotter ·
And on the eve of the sunny weekend ahead—which was supposed to mark the start of the Easter holidays—here’s the update from the Crisis Center and SPF Public Health about what you can and can’t do this weekend.

Hello and thanks, Moushika, for the link about the "lockdown" update: let's stay civil without letting fear take over.

About the "STIB", here’s the link to the latest info: http://www.stib-mivb.be/index.htm?l=fr

While respecting proper "social distancing", going out to breathe, walk, run, or cycle from home is still allowed in Belgium (as long as we don’t gather or "loiter" in one place...) and it’s vital for many of us confined without a garden.

--The leaves bringing green to the trees, the colors of flowers, animals bustling about, birdsong...

Wishing you all the best.

What a cute little Lou! 🙂

Brussels in lockdown

I had to go through the city center and thought I’d take a few photos:

From the De Brouckère metro station, passing by Place de la Monnaie

Then rue des Fripiers, with Saint Nicholas Church in the background, and a few passersby doing their shopping.

The other side of Saint Nicholas Church,

We go up a bit, and here’s Grand-Place like you rarely see it—unless you’re up early in the summer:

...passing through a few deserted little streets

...then back toward Place de Brouckère

Great idea!

I’ve rarely seen it like this...

Same here. But I see the construction is finished...
BR Brigitte42 Globetrotter ·
Thanks for the photos—it's unusual to see the center like that!

A friend walked to the Grand Place on Sunday: no one there! She thought she’d gotten the times mixed up...

Have a great day! !
MO Moushika Globetrotter ·
There are still major projects in the pipeline, but for now, everything’s at a standstill.

You can’t see it in the photos, but one wing of the town hall is under scaffolding 😊... also at a standstill.

Brussels under lockdown (continued)

This time, for my trip into the city center, I decided to get off at Parc metro station.

The metro line was really quiet:

....exit Rue de la Loi:

You quickly reach Place des Palais, walking along the park or cutting through it (I did a bit of both)... not a soul in sight.

A quick look at the Royal Palace Gardens:

A little further on, Place Royale, with the statue of Godfrey of Bouillon and behind it, Saint Jacques-sur-Coudenberg Cathedral:

In front of the statue, the view of Mont des Arts:

And in the opposite direction, the view of Place Royale:

From Place Royale, the view has never been so clear all the way to Palais de Justice:

That’s it for this little unexpected guided tour! 🙂

Thanks for the humor... I also discovered the French deconfinement from a Belgian perspective 😄😄😄 Muriel
AM AmandineEV ·
Even when I go downtown in Liège, I find it impressive to see the empty streets, but it’s true that Brussels like this is even more so! Thanks for sharing. And Guihome—he’s been my daily dose of humor since the start, but I also shared that video with my French friends! :D
MO Moushika Globetrotter ·
Hello,

Where do we stand with deconfinement in terms of walks?

For those living in Belgium, it’s now allowed to travel anywhere in the country to meet family members, with a maximum of 4 visitors.

Those with a second home by the sea can go there.

And we can all move around the country to visit one of the museums or animal parks that have reopened. For this, you’re asked to book ahead to limit the number of people per square meter (I forgot how many square meters per person) and per time slot. Not all museums are reopening on the same date, so it’s best to check first. Tomorrow there’s another security council meeting. We’re hoping it’ll give us more info on reopening the horeca sector... and the borders. To be continued.
MO Moushika Globetrotter ·
There we go! Day trips are allowed again starting June 8th. 😛 Amusement parks will remain closed until July 1st, though. Cafés, guesthouses, restaurants, and campsites are reopening.

Belgian borders will reopen to other European countries on June 15th: EU member states, Schengen countries, and Great Britain. No quarantine or reciprocity required.
MO Moushika Globetrotter ·
Hi,

When I mentioned Namur, Dinant, and Liège, I talked about cruises on the Meuse... they’re starting up again next weekend! 😎
