Hello, how are you all? To be honest, this isn't really a "deep" topic—just a quick note to say I'm really happy VoyageForum is finally back up. I hope everyone who contributed to this site is still around, still traveling, and in good health. For my part, travel didn’t really stop despite the COVID crisis. Looking forward to sharing photos, travel stories, and discussions with all of you again. Jacques And I’ll share a photo right away—taken last year in the Vichada region of Colombia, where I’m heading back in 2 weeks.

Je trainais ici tous les jours, je papotais, je rêvais, je préparais, je questionnais, je m'enguelais... Ma mission de l'époque me le permettait.

Je suis de retour du Cambogde et du Myanmar et forcément les souvenirs seront gravés longtemps dans ma petite tête.

J'ai repris le boulot. Le monde du Consulting avec ses cadres consultants. Etre le meilleur, le plus intelligent. Mon manager me stresse, me parle mal, m'étouffe. Les tours de La Défense sont là.

Mais mes voyages sont là aussi. Des envies continuelles.

Je ne viens plus sur Voyage Forum, je n'ai plus CE temps. Ca me manque ce petit monde, cette petite communauté.

Je gagne bien ma vie (mais sans mettre de l'argent de côté parce que je n'y arrive pas...) et j'ai toujours envie de gagner plus d'argent. Intellectuellement, mon job est parfois intéressant. Je m'y accroche pour ces raisons mais d'un autre côté, j'aimerais tout plaquer.

Trainer ici tous les jours, papoter, rêver, préparer, questionner, m'engueler... Tout en contradiction.

Dans le cadre du reportage sur une nouvelle mode, la recherche de compagnons de voyages, la TSR (Télévision Suisse Romande) a présenté un membre du forum, avec en plus plein écran sur le site. (images visibles pour tous ce soir sur TV5 lors de la rediffusion de notre journal, je sais plus à quelle heure).

I don’t want to write an obituary for VF here; I hope it’s just a rough patch and that we can keep exchanging. But I do want to list all the great things this Forum has given me:

-Some amazing travel stories from Yangguizi, one of which led me to North Korea. Just look at the power of storytelling! And Looping, Mariecurry, Michant... Pondi will see me in the Altai one day. -Meeting a really friendly travel companion, which gave me the confidence to explore the Russian Far North. Where else could I have found a travel buddy for such a unique trip? -Meeting people on the Forum who encouraged me to write and gave me confidence. I even found my Quebecois translator and Breton translator for a few lines here on VF. A big thank you to them. -A wealth of information from reading travel journals, plus the chance to ask specific questions to prepare for a trip. Reading these journals also inspired me to visit new destinations.

And then, Voyage Forum is like a big family made up of so many different personalities. Anonymity breaks down all barriers and inhibitions. Sure, some people can be a pain and might’ve needed some help, there are the lost souls; others are all kindness and warmth; some stand out for their beautiful French; that’s not something to dismiss in these times of language impoverishment; some intellectuals share ideas that often go over my head; there are the ruthless commentators on others’ writing and thoughts. Ego battles flare up—it’s all part of the game. I can’t imagine the work it takes to manage all this. Rarely, a historical discussion takes hold with knowledgeable contributors. How cool is that! It’s fascinating and educational. Unfortunately, political correctness often shuts it down quickly. The trolls are watching!

Je me souviens d'une rencontre VF à Bxl il y a un an ou deux et c'était très sympa! Que pensez-vous de remettre ça?

A Bruxelles, Namur, Lln, peu importe, un endroit facilement accessible pour tous les Belges qui ont envie de discuter voyage et de passer un chouette moment :)

Seriez-vous intéressé par une belle soirée rencontre? Je pense à Petitsoleil qui nus organisait ces belles soirées et à d'autres dont j'oublie le pseudonyme... Bref, il y a une gang de vieux membres qui tout comme moi doivent un peu être nostalgique non? Bonjour, Suite à plusieurs demandes, je relance la rencontre VF du 23 janvier à 11H à la vallée des oiseaux à la fontaine (la porte ouvre à 11H). Toutes les personnes bien intentionnées sont attendues et bienvenues. Les autres s'abstenir... Après les présentations à la vallée des oiseaux, nous irons prendre l'apéro et diner dans un lieu choisi sur le tas, par tous... Ainsi pas de conflit. Je présenterais toujours un petit circuit auquel je participerai comme prévu dans la première discussion. Cordialement et à bientôt. Venez nombreux... MARIE

Comme la dernière fois !!! 04 étaient présents. Pour ceux qui sont de passage à antsirabe Madagascar le 27 Mars 2010 Que pensez vous d'une rencontre ce Samedi là? Au tour d’une table rond avec les brochette de zébu et THB malgache au programme discussion et partage de voyage.

à partir de 19h. De cette façon nous avons la nuit à discuter.

Etant donné le nombre sans cesse croissant de personnes absolument obnubilées par le temps et toujours soucieuses de « ne surtout pas perdre de temps » lorsqu’elles voyagent, ne pourrait-on pas envisager de rebaptiser VoyageForum en VoyageGrandPrix ? Il me semble en effet que cette dénomination devient au fil du temps (…) de plus en plus appropriée …

Voilà plus d'un an que rien n'a été organisé pour une rencontre voyage forum sur Toulouse. Je propose donc de se refaire un petit resto en février, un samedi soir par exemple et/ou une rando au printemps comme nous en avions parlé avec quelques uns. Merci de me faire part de vos remarques et suggestions qu'on organise ça. Meilleurs voeux à tous..... je vous souhaite de beaux voyages en 2009.

Qui peut organiser une rencontre voyage forum dans region Lyon/chalon / bourg ? J'habite le jura et j'aimerais pour la premiere fois y participer; J'ai 56 ans, divorcee et je voyage pas mal.

Si je me suis décider a lancer ce poste, c'est seuleument dans le but de partager une merveilleuse experience que je vien de vivre ces quelques jours, grace au forum j'ai rencontrer une amie avec qui j'ai partager un voyage au Maroc, on a visité de superbe endroit, on a manger de tres délicieux Tajine:) mais le plus important on a parler, on a échanger, on a discuter, et finalement il n'ya pas beaucoup de diférence entre les gens du nord civilisé et le sud sous dévlopée ...le Discour et le Rapport Nord sud et toujours possible .

alors pour cela je dis Merci au Forum, et aussi a l'amie qui se reconnaitera de ces merveilleux moment que j'oublierais jamais !Avous tous de faire autant la ou vous etes ou la ou vous serez !

Surprise this morning: all VF pages have a dark background... I'm not a big fan! Did I accidentally do something wrong yesterday while checking my profile? Or is this a decision on your part to change the background color for everyone? I seem to remember François suggested this option (screen background choice) to forum users back in 2020, shortly before the site became inaccessible. I looked in "my options" for a way to switch back to the old light background but didn’t find anything. What should I do? No pun intended, but thanks for shedding some light on this! :-)

Some of you may have noticed this morning that when you’re not logged in, advertising banners appear. We’re currently running tests, which is why they may show up in different formats.

A quick clarification: these ads will only be visible to users who aren’t logged in.

They’re necessary for the site’s survival. A website like VF incurs significant costs, whether for hosting or for the team working behind the scenes—we can’t keep it running on love and fresh air alone.

A member generously offered to help out after François’s departure, but we still need a new developer, and all work deserves fair compensation.

Hervé, from myAtlas, who took over VF, has no choice but to monetize the site to ensure it can continue to exist.

Hi, Disconnected from all browsers, on all devices (but of course logged back in to post this message), I still appear online and active.

What I mean is, when I refresh (while logged out) the "who's online" page, my profile doesn’t move down the list... it even regularly jumps back to the top as if I were active on the site.

I’ve checked several times...

Hello everyone. It's to greet all the old-timers here with whom I had so many interactions when I used to visit this platform regularly and eagerly before it was shut down, much to our dismay.

I was a member under the name "Jaydev," but it seems I can't log in with that name anymore. Maybe I deleted the username, thinking VoyageForum wouldn't come back.

I'm so happy to be able to log in here again. Talking about Indian things—and in the language I love—lets me practice and chat with people who love the land where I was born.

From a visitor's perspective, I find it really interesting to interact with the local population. That's what gives meaning to the word "travel." Without it, traveling is essentially just "getting from one place to another."

Thanks for letting me know about the launch of the new VoyageForum.

I just want to say that I hope this fresh start has helped get rid of those rude people who thought they knew everything about every topic and would attack (and sometimes insult) participants who didn’t agree with them.

It was starting to feel like social media, where everyone thinks their own posts are the most accurate and truthful, and it was getting really tiresome—especially when all we really want to do is talk about travel.

So, my hope is that there’ll now be stricter moderation of exchanges between travelers.
