We’ll be discovering a lot once we’re there, but we’re still looking for recommendations on where to stay... Could you help us out? We’ve read that spending a night in a quinta would be great, but it seems way out of our budget. Or is it? We’ve set a max budget of around 150 €. I’m taking a Ryanair flight from France to Portugal (and back) in May. I’d prefer not to bring my passport since we’re leaving for the US in July, and I’d rather not risk losing it (or worse), so I’d like to leave it safely at home!

My ID card expired in July 2022 but should still be valid for 5 years. So it *should* be fine, but if anyone has been in this situation before, I’d love to hear about your experience to put my mind at ease!

Hi, I’m planning a long weekend in Porto soon with 4 other adults, and I’d love some info about the rechargeable Andante card for public transport. Since we’ll be traveling across different zones, I’m thinking of getting the single-trip rechargeable option. When we buy it, do we *have* to purchase just one trip for a specific zone, or can we buy multiple trips for the same zone—or even one for one zone and another for a different zone? Also, how do we go about recharging it?

Otherwise, is the Andante Tour 72-hour card a better deal? The catch is we’ll need to get to the airport on the 4th day, and it won’t be valid anymore by then.

Hi everyone, I’m planning a week-long trip to southern Portugal with my two teens. I’m looking for accommodation ideally located near Faro. What do you think of the towns of Lagos and Albufeira? Is it easy to get around these places using public transport, or is it better to rent a car to make the most of our stay? Hi, Like every summer, I’m looking for a (not too distant) destination to cycle with my family for about 3 weeks. I’m drawn to the EuroVelo 1 route in Portugal. Do any of you have information to share? Are there sections that are more or less difficult? Routes that are more or less safe? I’ve heard that Portuguese drivers aren’t very cautious on the road, especially around cyclists. Thanks for your feedback and experiences!

Back from a week in the Algarve.

The goal was to get some fresh air, walk at a relaxed pace (80 km in 6 days), and visit friends.

Transavia flight: No issues YorCar rental: No issues (and cheap) B&B 1: Quinta do Mocho Turismo Rural in Estoy: Good, even if a bit remote B&B 2: Casa Luma B&B in Lagos: Disappointed (and really disappointed with room #3)

Day 1: Flight, rental car, stop at São Lourenço in Almancil, and visit to Loulé Day 2: Olhão, walk at Praia do Barril, Tavira, and evening in Faro’s old town (park at São Francisco parking lot) Day 3: Walk on the boardwalks at Quinto do Ludo, Falesia beaches, Carvoeiro Day 4: The boardwalks in Alvor, Praia da Rocha in Portimão, Ferragudo, and the boardwalks around Algar Seco Day 5: Ponta da Piedade in Lagos, walk to Praia de Luz from Praia Camilho Day 6: Burgau, Cape Sagres, Cape St. Vincent, Carrapateira, and Praia da Bordeira Day 7: "Sete Vales Suspensos" hike from Marinha Beach

Our highlights: - The Vincentine Coast (Carrapateira), much nicer than the concrete of the southern coast - The fish restaurants and Cataplana (A Barrigada in Lagos, Ribeira do Poço in Vila do Bispo...) - The boardwalks everywhere (Quinto do Ludo, Alvor, Algar Seco...) - The sun on the cliffs and Falesia Beach (it’s the local Bryce Canyon) - Chatting with the fishermen perched on the cliffs of Carrapateira - The weather (we were lucky for early March)

Our disappointments: - The towns and villages (Tavira and Lagos stand out) - The traffic off the highway - The English, the English, and more English everywhere

It’s all in the title—we’re planning to travel with three of us: my wife, our 2-year-old baby, and myself for Christmas in Portugal. Is this a good idea? We don’t have much time to figure out everything we can do or visit. We were thinking of flying into Porto, staying there for 2 or 3 days, and then traveling by train to either Lisbon or Faro—I’m not sure yet. Book 2 nights for the arrival and then decide the rest once we’re there. Will we manage without a car? I’d love all your tips! 🙂

Je commence par Porto : combien de jours mon conseillez vous d’y rester ? Après dans cette région que visiter en priorité ? Je repartirai le 13 octobre de Faro Quel stop me conseillez-vous entre les 2 ? Je souhaite faire des stops de 4-5 jours pour prendre le temps de ne rien faire aussi..... Niveau crise sanitaire j’ai vu que pour l’instant aucune mesure particulière était mise en place pour rentrer dans le pays mais sur place dois-je savoir des choses ? Bonjour! J'aimerais partir au Portugal durant les prochaines vacances scolaires (mi-octobre) et faire un séjour linguistique de 8/10 jours afin de commencer à apprendre le portugais . J'aurais qques questions: 1/ Quelle ville recommanderiez-vous, afin d'allier plaisir et découvertes touristiques? 2/ Qqun parmi vous a-t-il testé une école de langues? Une formule qui marche bien? 3/ Je suis enseignant, j'ai 40 ans. Pensez-vous qu'il existe des séjours adaptés pour les adultes? Dans l'idéal, j'aimerais trouver une école/institut qui ne soit pas trop cher (certaines appâtent et font cela seulement pour le fric!) et dont les profs sont de qualité (un critère également important selon moi). Merci d'avance pour vos suggestions! Espérons que d'ici octobre, la situation sanitaire n'empire pas, ni chez nous, ni au Portugal . Etienne

Revenus hier enchantés l'1 de nos plus belles croisières avec des paysages magnifiques, une nourriture excellente et variée, 1 spectacle de Fado et 1 de flamenco, un musicien en soirée super, un manager hôtel qui parle 7 langues dont le français et fait très bien son travail Pas une fausse note sauf qu'il a tt de même fallu débarquer.. NB distanciation respectée, désinfection répétée, au retour au bateau sommes "désinfectés" avant de monter à bord Le buffet du petit déjeuner est magnifique : pour les plats chauds le pain etc qq ns sert pour le reste chaque petite assiette de fromage etc est couverte, les fruits frais sont dans de petits bocaux Vraiment c'est très très bien NB le prix en cabine normale était à 200€ p p.... avec 2 excursions gratuites y c repas... je ne pense pas revoir cela Enfin passage d'écluses impressionnants Je vous souhaite de la faire Babette
