Government reveals progress of rail project :
(TheStars Online)Le Minsitre de Transport malaysian M.Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy a révèlé le plan d'aménagement des réseaux ferroviaires après la réunion des Ministres de transport des pays d'ASEAN Transport.
Minister Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy, who chaired the ninth SKRL Special Working Group meeting here yesterday, said the feasibility studies in the countries involved were encouraging.
The SKRL, which was first proposed at the Asean Summit in 1995, is a 5, 513km rail link that starts from
Singapore and runs through Malaysia,
Thailand,
Cambodia,
Myanmar,
Laos and
Vietnam before ending in
Kunming, China.
Chan said the construction of the missing links are estimated to cost more than US$2bil (RM6.73bil).
“The Poipet-Sisophon link had received materials from Malaysia early this year. They have been preparing the ground for construction and the Cambodian representative said the link is expected to be completed by 2010, ” he said.
Work on the Loc Ninh-
Ho Chi Minh link should begin before 2010.
On China’s side, they have begun work on the Yuxi-Mengxi link and Mengxi-Hekou link. The Yuxi-Mengxi link is expected to be completed in 2009, while the Mengxi-Hekou should be by 2011, he said
