Dear Mr.Cartensen,
Thank you very much! Respectfully, may I introduce (albeit via this forum) to Dr. Weeks (Steveroot) who
had the following question posted on 17-Jan-2010.
He asked very simply:
"On a technical note, can water and/or oil collect inside the plastic loop?
If there is drainage, then the outside of the loop will be dirty, won't it?"
I am in a "satellite" location and I do know that our Dahon staff tested your product rather extensively before using your product on an OE basis. I have not talked with our R&D testing staff, however I am sure that your product met our quality standards. Would you be so kind as to comment on the above question? Thank you again!
Best regards,

Dear Mr. Fair
Yes, water can collect inside the plastic loop, but there is nearly no volume for it, in practise there is no problem with it, rustprooved chains are standard today, a drainage is not necessary. And don´t grease too much, then of course the oil comes out and the outside of the loop will be dirty. The chainrunner keeps rain off of the chain, therefore the oil stays longer.
Use dry stuff as you do with derailleur-gears, it helps against sand on the chain, for too much oil and sand see this testphotos:

By the way, I sell bicycles since 30years in my own shop, we use this loop since 3 years without problems. Some customers in between are using the second chain with the same loop, it is reuseable and cheaper than a chain. Today is the fist warmer day in
hamburg without ice and snow, so it was a good wheather in january for testing the material, iced v-brake- cables stopped, but the chainrunner was still running!
Best regards
ps.: we told Dahon that we (new) sell the loop in cutted lengths for the aftersale market....
