I assume your visit is in connection with the Kudu Powerstation.
You will get a permit without needing to apply for police clearance. I just returned from the area after driving the road from
Oranjemund northwards to
Luderitz to do a road survey.
My permit was issued within 2 hours of application. I applied by sending a letter motivating my reason to visit the area. No official application forms.

I doubt whether it is permissable. Contact KimballR on the forum.
I only know of Coastways that can take you from
Luderitz down to Bogenfels, but have never seen or read of anyone going all the way to
Oranjemund.
But as someone said earlier, lets wait for Kimball's response.
I think Uri Adventures also do it
Forget about trying to do it. You cannot !!
We are also crossing the border at
Oranjemund at the end of March to do the
Lüderitz to
Walvis Bay dune trip.
Like you, we also thought of perhaps going through the Sperrgebiet. Called on all my old buddies, varsity friends & even a friend that is in the top 10 senior management of the owners of the mines (don't want to mention any names here, as I don't know what consequences it might have).
The answer is NO. You will NOT be allowed to travel through the restricted area with your own vehicle, unless you are one of the few registered service providers or contractors that need to do work in that area on instruction from the mine, and then also only with the registered & cleared vehicles that conforms to the strict standards, and also only under strict security supervision.
Other than that, ONLY mine vehicles are allowed to travel there.
Not even Coastway Tours or Uri Adventures are allowed to travel there. They do however do the Bögenfells day trip, but from
Lüderitz down to the rock and back - day trip only.
Maybe KimballR can confirm or correct me if he gets online, but this is the reply that I got from all the enquiries that I made towards the end of last year.
Et il y a forcément des gens qui te renseigneront ici :

Hi all
Yes
Oranjemund is definitely on the tourist map! There is the unfortunate process of having to apply for permits, but do not let this put you off!
I suggest that if you want to visit
Oranjemund, speak to Fanie and book in for a night or two at his lodge - he will then Organize permits. I see that he is also accepting campers - speak to him.
Michael Alexander (Spar manager) is an enthusiastic promoter of
Oranjemund as a tourist destination - a born and bred Oranjemunder and passionate about the town. He set up the websites and his contact details are on one of the pages.
For someone visiting
Namibia (or the Richtersveld)
Oranjemund would be a very good stepping off point. Some of the attractions -
- We have a very good Golf course (18 hole), you could factor in a quick round while you are here. Hitting a Gemsbok is one of the hazards and is covered in the local rules book.
- Take a game drive over the grass plains - Gemsbok, Ostrich, etc.
- Drive (legally) on the beach to the Orange River mouth for a sundowner.
- We have Gemsbok that walk around town, take some photographs.
- Fishing can be good, there are some camp sites along the river - basic but free.
- Please contact me when in
Oranjemund, I will gladly take you on a bit of a 4x4 drive around showing you some interesting things!
