Je me suis inscrite sur ce forum il y a quelques jours, j'ai parcouru un peu les différents topics sur l'Inde mais je voulais quand même en poster un avec "mes" appréhensions et questions.
J'étudie en école d'ingénieur. J'ai été retenue pour aller passer une année universitaire à l'IIT de Kanpur (environ 300km de Delhi). Je pars avec un ami qui a été pris lui aussi. Je suis ravie puisque je vais y étudier des domaines qui me plaisent et que j'ai hâte de découvrir un pays qui me fait rêver depuis des années, mais j'ai aussi quelques inquiétudes.
- J'ai lu, entendu que la première fois qu'on part en Inde, c'est très dur, on se prend une grande claque dans la face, on a du mal à supporter la pauvreté, la saleté, le décalage de cultures, etc... C'est à ce point là ? Je suis prête à affronter un dépaysement total, mais je me demande quand même si l'Inde, c'est "l'enfer" à ce point-là...
- Le statut de la femme : j'avoue, j'ai un peu peur. Est-ce que les femmes sont aussi déconsidérées que le prétendent les articles de journaux ? J'ai lu quelques livres qui ne m'ont pas beaucoup rassurée, je me demande comment ça se passera pour moi à l'université. Pourtant, il y a des étudiantEs, mais quand je regarde la liste des professeurs, des chercheurs, des dirigeants de l'université, il n'y a QUE des hommes. Est-ce que ça veut dire que les étudiantes se retrouvent presque toutes femmes au foyer malgré un excellent diplôme, que les universités ne les recrutent pas, que leur diplôme est "dévalorisé"... ?
- Santé et cie : là encore, j'entends tout dire et n'importe quoi. Mon médecin me recommande de ne faire que le vaccin de l'hépatite A. Le site de l'institut pasteur parle d'encéphalite japonaise, de typhus, thyphoïde... Mais n'est pas très clair sur "qui" doit se vacciner ou pas. Je reste un an, je serais donc là pendant la mousson, mais à priori je ne devrais pas vivre dans des conditions trop "rustiques" puisque logée sur le campus. Mais je prévois de faire un ou deux trecks si j'en ai la possibilité donc je risque de me retrouver dans des coins un peu reculés !
Les cachets pour le palu : tout le monde me dit que je ne pourrais pas les supporter une année entière, donc que de toute façon, autant ne pas les prendre. Vous me confirmez ?
- L'arrivée à Delhi : le premier jour, j'arrive à l'aéroport de Delhi vers 22h. Je prévois de prendre le lendemain un train pour Kanpur.
Est-il possible de réserver/payer un hotel depuis la France pour la première nuit ? Est-ce que vous en avez à me conseiller ? (j'aimerais au moins que la première nuit se passe bien, je vais arrivée crevée en Inde et pas très en état d'affronter un trop grand décalage...) Est-ce qu'ils peuvent venir me chercher à la descente de l'avion pour que j'évite de me faire arnaquer sur les taxis ? Le lendemain, ils peuvent m'emmener à la gare ? Commander réserver mon billet de train ?
- Est-ce que vous savez s'il y a beaucoup d'étudiants étrangers parmi les élèves d'une IIT ou est-ce que nous serons les deux seuls étrangers ? Enfin je me doute qu'on ne sera pas que deux, mais sur les milliers d'élèves, quelle est la proportion d'élèves étrangers ?
Je crois que c'est tout pour le moment. J'ai plein plein de questions, mais je vais m'arrêter là pour l'instant :).
- en effet, l'Inde on aime ou on aime pas... Y a pas vraiment d'entre deux. Si psychologiquement, t'es prête à vivre un truc où tu vas perdre tous tes repères, alors ça se passera bien! Il faut faire table rase de tout ce que tu connais et ne pas voir ce qui t'entoure avec tes yeux d'occidentale... le plus dur au final.
- arrête de lire les médias, ils sont manipulés... et au final, ils te feront plus peur qu'autre chose. Et en ce moment, les histoires sordides sont hyper médiatisées non pas parce que les choses s'aggravent mais parce que le gouvernement veut réinstaurer la peine de mort... en maintenant le peuple en colère! Certaines femmes sont mal considérées et vivent des choses affreuses, mais pas plus en Inde que dans d'autres pays du monde.
De nombreuses femmes qui ont fait des études exercent après leur mariage, tu rencontreras des femmes docteurs, avocates, musicienne, etc... mais peut-être que dans ta branche, il y a encore peu de femme, donc peu de professeurs... non ? J'étais étudiante à Varanasi, et j'avais deux femmes professeurs d'hindi, mais faculté, toi c'est une école privée, non ?
- les vaccins ?! À se demander si les docteurs de l'institut pasteur sont payés au vaccin ! (Je vais me faire crier dessus!) personnellement, j'ai refais ma DTPolio, hépatite, et la rage à cause de ma manie de toucher aux animaux! (Les singes sont pas très gentils! mais avec le recul, c'était pas non plus necessaire) le reste j'ai refusé de faire, et comme j'ai pas fait les rappels, ben voilà... Ça ne signifie pas qu'il faut suivre mon exemple, mais il faut relativiser les risques.
Les comprimés à Palu, il ne faut surtout pas les prendre !!! Les docteurs ne savent pas les effets sur le long terme, comprendre plus de 6 mois! En plus c'est une absurdité en Inde, seule la région de l'Assam est dangereuse, dans le reste du pays le palu n'est pas mortel, tu passes juste un (très) mauvais moment. Et les moustiques à palu ils sont là avec la mousson, de juillet à septembre/octobre, c'est tout! N'achètes pas non plus les crèmes et autre produit recommandés par l'institut pasteur ! Moi j'ai fait des réactions, ça sent mauvais et c'est très moyennement efficace. Les indiens connaissent mieux leurs moustiques que nous. Un bon tube de crème Odomos, que tu trouves partout, un bulb anti-moustique que tu branches sur ta prise, une moustiquaire si tu crains vraiment les moustiques et c'est bon. Nous sommes plusieurs "expatriés" à Varanasi et certains depuis des années, et on se porte comme un charme, même si nous sommes (ainsi que les enfants) le mets préférés des moustiques!
- je vais à Delhi lundi chercher une copine, je descends toujours dans le même hôtel, si tu veux je peux te réserver une chambre. Pour le taxi, tu prends un pre-paid dans l'aéroport comme ça tu n'as pas de soucis. Si tu es dans le quartier de Paraganj (c'est là où je vais), tu es à 5-10 minutes à pied de la gare de New-Delhi, donc pas besoin de taxi ou rickshaw. Des le matin après ton arrivée, tu peux aller réserver un billet de train pour Kanpur, à la gare de New Delhi. Mais attention tu as un visa étudiant, donc tu ne dois pas aller au bureau réserver aux touristes, mais celui pour les indiens, car tu es considérée comme une résidente. Où se trouve ce bureau? Quand tu es face à la gare, tu n'y rentre pas, tu restes à l'extérieure du parking, et tu longes le trottoir sur la droite, au bout de 100m grosso modo, tu as un building, mais n'hésites pas à demander. Cela dit tu n'es pas sûre t'avoir un billet pour le jour-même à moins de booker un billet taktal (billet en urgence) mis en vente 24h avant. Comme tu es une nana, va au comptoir pour les femmes, ça va plus vite. Si tu veux, je peux te réserver ton billet ici, et on s'arrange, mp moi.
- Proportion d'élèves étrangers, j'en ai malheureusement aucune idée...regarde sur le site de l'école, il y a peut être un quota.
Je suis désolée, beaucoup d'infos ! Mais surtout n'angoisse pas... À ton arrivée, tu as un certain nombre de démarches à faire pour te faire recenser auprès des autorités indiennes, mais l'école t'as probablement prévenue... Autrement je t'expliquerai, c'est très simple. N'hésites pas si tu as d'autres questions surtout.
