Foreign nationals are banned from residing in all border cities of eastern Iran, the deputy commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran Police said on Tuesday. During a visit to Zahedan, Brigadier General Hossein Zolfaqari also told reporters that according to the new law all foreign nationals (both legal and illegal) are banned from residing in the eastern cities of Sistan-Baluchestan province, IRNA reported. “Even nationals who have legal permits should leave Sistan-Baluchestan and instead reside in provinces that do not have any border with Iran’s eastern neighbors, Afghanistan and Pakistan, “ he said. Zolfaqari pointed out that justifications such as participation in economic and trade projects with Iranian nationals are not acceptable. Referring to the IRIP plan for controlling borders, the commander said the plan for controlling borders in Sistan-Baluchestan province includes the construction of a cement wall and canals. “In some border regions of Sistan-Baluchestan around Hamoun Lake, fortifications will be created to safeguard the water border during high tide, “ he said. He noted that electronic equipment and radars are used to control the borders in a better manner. “A total of 1, 030 billion rials have been allocated for controlling border checkpoints, which indicate a remarkable growth in comparison with the previous years, “ he said. Zolfaqari further said the police confiscated 329 tons of narcotics last year, which shows a considerable growth in comparison with previous years.

“Miscreants and armed smugglers have been badly cornered after the police of Iran and Pakistan began their cooperation, “ he said.

Bonjour
