J'y arrive seule et suis inquiète... non pas par rapport au territoire lui-même (j'ai choisi cette destination car je sais y trouver un lieu magnifique et exceptionnel) mais parce que je vais arriver seule loin de ma famille et mes amis et que je suis du genre un peu timide.
Si certains d'entre vous sont dans ma situation, n'hésitez pas : être seuls à plusieurs, ça peut être sympa !
J'ai le même projet et le même souci. Saint Laurent ou ailleurs m'est un peu égal, l'important pour moi est de m'envoler et de m'adapter au contexte une fois là-bas... mais c'est toujours beaucoup moins angoissant lorsqu'on n'est pas seul, bien entendu. jul@dr.com
J'ai l'avantage d'arriver à Saint Laurent du Maroni et d'avoir un logement équipé. Je ne sais ni où il sera à Saint Laurent, ni à quoi il ressemblera, ni comment il sera équipé, mais si tu as un besoin temporaire, pas de souci, la porte est ouverte.

Oui, en effet c'est un grand avantage... que pour ma part je n'ai pas. Merci pour ta très sympatique proposition, un point de chute provisoire pour démarrer serait en effet bien pratique. Je ne sais pas encore très bien. Je suis en train de négocier mon départ avec mon employeur actuel et ça se passe assez mal. Je comptais partir tout début janvier mais je crois que ce ne sera pas avant mi-janvier. Je pense pouvoir fixer une date précise dès lundi. A voir. Je te tiens informé.
Excellente question... si seulement je le savais ! Après avoir passé un an et demi en Equateur (à torréfier du café et à m'initier à sa culture), j'ai dû, il y a un peu plus d'un an, regagner l'hexagone. Je n'arrive toujours pas à m'y faire. C'est curieusement chez moi que je me sens le plus étranger, le moins à ma place, le plus à l'étroit. Alors voilà, maintenant que j'ai mis quatre sous de côté, je ne pense qu'à repatir, et cette fois-ci ce sera en Guyane. Qui sait, peut-être y trouverai-je mon bonheur. Je suis très interressé par le secteur de l'agriculture biologique et plus particulièrement par la réhabilitation durable des sols peu productifs (BRF, Terra pretta, compost...). Voilà, tout cela est très vaste et très vague, je sais, d'autant plus que je ne dispose d'aucune qualifcation particulière, mais qui sait, peut-être qu'avec quelques bonnes rencontres et un coup de pouce du destin, mes utopies se concrétiseront-elles d'une manière où d'une autre.
Effectivement c'est un projet bien vaste mais finalement certainement très intéressant. Je dois dire que j'ai bien peu de connaissance "terrienne", j'apprécie toutefois les gens passionnés.
Il est évident que tôt ou tard tu trouveras "ta place" et pourquoi pas en Guyane !

je suis allé à Saint Laurent il y a longtemps en tant que touriste...
c'est mieux que Cayenne en tout cas parce que c'est une petite ville donc moins de problèmes de sécurité.
En revanche ne pas compter s'y amuser comme à Cayenne peu de discothèques pas de Place des Palmistes où boire un coup...
On peut y prendre une pirogue pour descendre le Maroni ou bien passer au Surinam qui est juste en face de l'autre côté du fleuve.
La seule chose à visiter c'est les ruines du bagne

attention les possibilités de travail sont TRES étroites en Guyane...je crois que ce sujet a été maintes fois abordé.
Déjà le taux de chômage est élevé parmi la population locale.
Si tu veux travailler dans tout ce qui est agronomie, production biologique tu peux tenter de poser ta candidature auprès de l'ORSTOM qui conduit de nombreuses recherches en Guyane.
Mais ils recrutent niveau ingénieur agronome sans qualifs ça va être très dur...

Moi aussi je prévois de partir pour une expérience du côté de st laurent du Maronie vers janvier 2011 comme toi. J'ai déjà un frére qui bosse à cayenne et qui m'a dit que les loyers sont plutôt trés chère, alors je sais pas si cela peut t'intéresser mais j'aimerais trouver ou monter une colocation à saint Laurent. En effet les loyers sont plutôt exorbitants, peut-être un peu moins à Saint-Laurent qu'à Cayenne si on a de la chance, et une éventuelle colocation me semble une excellente solution... moi non plus je ne roule pas sur l'or. Hélas pour l'instant, niveau info je n'ai encore rien de viable sous la main, mis à part le site blada.com que je consulte régulièrement mais je n'y ai encore rien vu d'intéressant pour l'instant.

Pour ma part tout va dépendre de ce que va me trouver mon employeur. Grand logement, petit logement, pour le moment je ne sais pas mais je suis prête à le partager avec ceux qui seraient perdus en arrivant !

Je t'avoue que pour l'instant j'ai pas de projet trés clair, "all is possible". En fait je ne me fait pas de "plan sur la comète". Ce que je sais c'est j'aimerais bien avoir une expérience dans le social en Guyane ou apparemment beaucoup de chose sont à créer. je verrais sur place... En fait je compte aussi pas mal me promener, histoire de voir les coins sympa, et il est clair que les fleuves Maronie et Oyapock font parti de mes trip. Mon délire ultime serait de pouvoir apporter mon aide au populations amérindienne, qui sont en grande difficulté, pollution, acculturation, précarité... Mais bon c'est pas si simple, c'est un peu le far west!!!!! Pour l'instant je rêve et puis sur place j'atterrirais sans doute!!!!!😉

j'ai déja travaillé a l'hospital de st-laurent , revenue il y a 8 mois, je me tate à retenter l'aventure en Guyane ! Ma première expérience fut exellente et je n'arrive pas à croire que tout est fini !!!
Actuellemnt je m'ennui dans ma profession en france, la guyane me manque mais je ne me vois pas repartir seule; d'autant que si je repart j'aimerai m'installer en forêt pour vivre dans un carbet en pleine nature !

Je voudrais quand même modérer les propos de Mattews...à commencé par la sécurité, sans tomber dans la parano, à saint laurent il n'y a pas tous les controles d'immigration comme à Cayenne c open bar pour les gangsta surinamais ou bresilien et je pense que c'est bien plus chaud qu'à Cayenne et les trois crackman qui y trainent.

Salut Aurélie. Ce que tu proposes est interressant, d'autant plus que je suis dans une situation assez comparable, même si pour ma part je n'ai connu que l'Equateur et pas encore la Guyane... mais bon, je compte rectifier ce détail dès que possible, de préférence accompagné.
Pour l'instant rien n'est encore sûr, mais je suis depuis hier en contact avec un couple en phase d'installation sur un terrain de 2ha. Ils sont axés sur l'apiculture, la plantation d'avocats et d'autres projets dont ils devraient me parler prochainement. Ils seraient apparemment intéressés par un éventuel coup de main d'une personne ou deux contre hébergement.

If anyone knows the rates charged by movers for a crate to French Polynesia, or what pitfalls to avoid (I know you can get quotes directly from movers, but I’d love insights from actual customers😉).
