Je suis en train de recherche ou partir apprendre l'anglais, car j'ai convenu avec mon patron que je pouvait partir 3 mois à l'étranger pour améliorer mon anglais. Au début j'étais intéressé par l'Australie, mais finalement maintenant je me laisse plutôt tenter par Honolulu.
Cependant je n'arrive pas à trouver beaucoup d'avis de personnes qui sont déjà parti là-bas.
Je me présent un peu mieux.
J'ai 23 ans, j'habite en Suisse, et je suis Informaticien. Je recherche une destination où il fait chaud, assez loins de la Suisse afin de faire un bon changement. Je souhaite vraiment allé où il y a de belles plages et où les gens sont ouvert pour faire la fête, discuter même avec des inconnus, etc... Comme des vacances en fait.
Donc pensé-vous que cette destination corresponds à mes recherches?
Est-ce que le coût de la vie là-bas est cher? Comparé à la Suisse?
Est-ce que ça vaut le coup d'aller là-bas pour trois mois?
Quel école est bien?
Est-ce que c'est mieux famille d'accueil, ou résidence?

Pour le soleil, les vacances et les plages, oui, définitivement!
Pour faire des rencontres sociales, faire la fête, oui et non...Les kama'aina (les locaux) se tiennent surtout entre eux. Les commerçants sont sympathiques avec les touristes mais cela s'arrête là. À savoir, Honolulu est très fréquenté par les Asiatiques (Japonais, Coréens). Il est parfois plus courant d'entendre parler japonais qu'anglais! 😎
Il est difficile pour moi de comparer le coût de la vie à Honolulu vs la Suisse, mais généralement Hawaii ça coûte plus cher que sur le continent US (essence, logement, nourriture). Se loger coûte très cher, il n'est pas rare de voir des gens et même des familles qui vivent dans la rue. Cependant, comme le climat est très favorable, le camping est très populaire pour se loger pas trop cher. Si tu vises Honolulu, il sera difficile (à mon avis) de trouver une famille d'accueil car contrairement à ce que bien des gens croient, les locaux vivant à Hawaii ne sont pas très riches pour la plupart. Leurs logements sont généralement très petits.
Je n'ai pas d'écoles à te recommencer, mais j'ai entendu parler par quelqu'un de Global Village qui est une école de langue. à vérifier sur le net. Il y a des cours d'anglais qui sont aussi offerts à l'université et une autre école de langue qui vient d'ouvrir, EF. Renseignes toi. Ça te permettra de faire des rencontres plus facilement.
Hawaii, oui, définitivement ça vaut le coup, en raison de ses paysages magnifiques et variés, son climat et l'esprit aloha 😉

Le coût de la vie est légèrement supérieur à celui des É.U., mais avec le franc suisse, ce ne devrait pas être très cher. Ben si justement, il y aura un sacré choc culturel. Entre le mode vie suisse/européen et le mode de vie américain il y a un monde.

J'ai maintenant un peu plus d'info, car j'ai regardé avec quel système je voudrais partir. Ma copine étant partie en Australie avec ESL, elle est pour l'instant toujours là-bas mais est très contente des prestations qu'ils ont fait. Donc je pense que je choisirai de partir avec eux.

Oui les gens sont chaleureux. Tout en apprenant l'anglais, tu vas rencontrer des tas de gens. D'abord des jeunes comme toi qui apprennent l'anglais provenant de partout dans le monde, puis d'autres copains pendant tes activités. Il y en a assez à faire en trois mois, ne serais-ce que troquer ta planche à neige pour une planche de surf. Moi ce que je trouvais cool pendant mon court séjour, c'était de voir des gars et des filles rouler à vélo d'une main, en tenant leur planche de surf de l'autre. C'est ça Hawaii. Puis oui, il y a de belles balades à faire en forêt. Sur l'île d'Oahu, où tu seras, tu peux même aller partout sur l'île en prenant l'autobus municipal. Puis les prix sont décents.
La marine américaine ne permet pas les plongées à Pearl harbor, de un, c'est un mémorial et c'est encore une base militaire active! Tu ne peux même pas entrer sur le site avec un sac à dos, bourse, pochette de camescope! :) J'y étais en avril, j'ai bien aimé la visite!
