Hi, I’m planning to arrive by plane in Johannesburg and cross the Mozambique land border. For a trip of less than 30 days, do I need a visa? If so, how much does it cost? And can I get it at the border? There’s conflicting info online.

Hi Julien, Yeah, it does keep changing. It’s 'normally' possible to get it at the border (at least at the main crossings). I used to apply for it in person at the Mozambican Consulate in Cape Town. And since you’re planning to spend some time there, if you have a clear idea of your entry date, you could do the same.

No worries at the border, 10 € per person, it's now very simple...

Cool, the visa is only 10 € and you can get it at the border? I’d read it cost 90 € and was thinking of skipping it. I was planning to visit the capital and the coast. If you’ve got any ideas for authentic, budget-friendly spots, I’d love to hear them!

I’m planning to arrive in Johannesburg and then head to Mozambique. I’ll go to Cape Town at the end of my trip, from where I think I’ll fly to Malaysia.
