Pour l'instant, il n'y a pas réellement de souci. Votre ESTA est suffisant. Par contre, comme dit Seb, regardez quand (et si) la loi est signée. L'Iran s'est plaint de ce traitement discriminatoire qui va à l'encontre de ce qui a été signé l'année passée (accord nucléaire Iran-USA). A voir ce qu'il va se passer.

Mon problème s'en approchant, j'ai une double nationalité (française et iranienne) et l'ai signalée dans mon esta qui pour le moment est acceptée.
Je n'ai pas de passeport iranien valide et je ne suis pas allée en Iran depuis 7 ans mais je pense que cette loi s'applique aussi à mon cas de figure.
Notre voyage étant prévu fin février, je serai même tentée d'aller demander un visa en plus de mon estat pour anticiper une promulgation de la loi...
Je vais tenter de les contacter en début de semaine concernant cette loi et reviendrai vers vous si j'obtiens une CAT...

Je suis dans le même cas. J'ai une escale aux Etats-Unis pour un vol vers l'Amérique du Sud et j'ai deux visa touristiques dans mon passeport suisse.
- Si je refais un nouveau passeport, est-ce qu'il y a un risque d'entrer juste avec l'ESTA ? Y aura t-il des traces de mon passage en Iran quelque part (base de donnée ou dans la puce du passport) ?

Pour l'instant il n'y a rien de changé.Et même si cela change ne serai visé que les personnes qui ont fait un séjour dans certain pays à partir d'une certaine date.
Dans le cas d'un séjour dans les pays "Blacklistés" l'ESTA ne serai plus possible mais une demande pourrai être faîte.
Il est certain que si vous changez de passeport , il n'y aura plus de tampons mais mentir sur un formulaire US est grave.

J'ai fais deux séjours touristiques en Iran : 22 jours en août 2015 et 16 jours en juin 2015. J'ai bien peur que je serais concerné à moins que les USA retire l'Iran de cette liste… c'est ce que demande le gouvernement iranien qui y voit un non-respect de l'accord signé.
La loi est passée hier le 21/01/2016.
Tous les esta obtenus avant cette date des binationaux sont annulés et ceux ayant voyagé dans les 5 dernières années en Iran doivent faire une demande de visa aussi

Sympa pour ceux qui voyageaient vers le 22/23/24 et dont l'Esta valide a été annulé le 21/01 (sans prévenir, hein, même si ils ont votre mail) et qui n'ont pu avoir de visa dans les délais...
Cela n'a rien à voir avec les autorités US, n'importe quelle autorité qui met en place une loi sans prendre en compte un délai raisonnable pour les voyageurs afin qu'ils s'organisent mérite reproche.
Mettez vous un peu à la place des gens.
Vous savez certainement qu'une demande de visa nécessite qq jours. Est ce anormal de se dire que des autorités, n'importe lesquelles, pourrait prévoir un temps permettant au gens de se retourner? Par exemple publier le 4/01 un texte indiquant que ce sera appliqué le 21/01? Ainsi les personnes concernées auraient le temps de se retourner.
Je ne vois pas en cela vous pose soucis, peut être parce que vous n'êtes pas vous concerné et dans l'embarras?
Quand un pays met en place des dispositions pour des questions de sécurité intérieure , a mon sens les états d'âme existentiels de quelques touristes passent au second plan !!!
J'espère que ces mesures seront appliqués avec une certaine compréhension pour une période transitoire pour ceux qui ont déjà un ESTA , pour respecter quand même les voyageurs qui ont déjà dépensé des centaines/milliers d'euros pour aller aux USA.
La sécurité intérieure est légitime mais ça ne justifie pas n'importe quoi.
Ca fait au moins un mois qu'on parle de cette mesure, donc pas de surprise pour d'éventuels terroristes qui auraient pu anticiper et profiter de cette période pour déjà rentrer aux US avant le passage de la loi/décret.
Ensuite à ma connaissance aucun des terroristes européens (Français, Belges, ...) qui ont sévi en 2015 n'est allé en Iran. Par contre certaines sont allé clandestinement en Syrie en passant tranquillement par la Turquie. Je ne vois donc pas pourquoi la Turquie n'est pas aussi concernée pas ces restrictions (au nom de la sécurité intérieure).

il ne s'agit pas ici des formalités pour des citoyens turcs ou iraniens, mais pour les citoyens français (ou européens) qui ont fait un voyage en Iran depuis 2011. Par contre avoir fait un voyage en Turquie qui a une frontière avec l'EI ne pose pas de souci pour la sécurité intérieure des Etats-Unis...
Les bi-nationaux sont aussi concernés.
Le risque est plus grand pour la sécurité US si les gens vont en Syrie, Irak , Iran et autres pays que d' aller passer deux semaines de vacances en Turquie.
Pour l'instant les US ciblent cinq pays et peut être bientôt d'autres ( ne pas oublier qu'au lendemain des attentats certain députés et sénateurs US voulaient supprimer l'ESTA pour les Français et les Belges .
Ne pas oubliez que les personnes concernés peuvent demander un visa et l'obtenir sans aucun problème. L'ESTA n'est qu'une facilité accordée à certain nationaux pour passer 90 jours aux US. J'ai connu le temps ou il fallait avoir un visa pour aller aux US.
Au total combien de personnes sont touchées en France par ce changement?

Chaque pays est maître dans la façon de dicter les conditions d'entrée sur son territoire .
Nous , simples touristes , n'avons qu'a nous y adapter .

Pour confirmation, je viens de me voir refuser l'ESTA aujourd'hui. Je pense que c’est à cause d'un séjour de trois semaines en Iran en 2013.
Je ne m'y attendais absolument pas (j'aurais dû répondre non à la question de l'ESTA) et comme mon avion pour le Nicaragua (escale à Miami) est dans 10 jours ouvrés, je pense que je viens de perdre 600 euros et flinguer mes vacances...

Oui pour les USA mais pas toujours vrai en général car certaines ambassades demandent le billet d'avion pour délivrer le visa.

Suite de l'histoire pour ceux qui pourraient se retrouver dans mon cas.
1. Paiement des 140 euros de visa AVANT d'obtenir un RV -> impossible par carte (j'en ai essayé 3 (Visa), de 3 personnes différentes, toutes refusées) ; l'assistance téléphonique me dit que ce sont des cartes de crédit et qu'il faut des cartes de débit, ils ne semblent pas se rendre compte de la situation en France, bref.
Du coup, virement, que j'ai fait faire en accéléré par ma banque moyennant 14 euros : si demandé avant midi, il est fait dans la soirée du même jour
2. Réception du paiement confirmé le lendemain matin, RV possible l'après-lendemain à 9h (ça me semble pas mal) ; je tente la procédure d'urgence à tout hasard pour gagner un jour : elle est refusée.
3. Je me munis de toutes les pièces possibles et imaginables (feuille de paie, factures EDF, relevé de compte en banque, billet d'avion...) pour le RV. Je suis resté dans l'ambassade 20 min tout compris, la personne au guichet m'a posé 2 ou 3 questions (quand avez-vous été en Iran ? C'est pour un transit ?) et c'est tout. Après quoi, il m'a dit que je devrais recevoir mon passeport par la poste (normale) la semaine prochaine.
A noter : il ne m'ont pas pris ma photo et ne m'ont absoluement rien demandé à part le formulaire CS160 (pas même l'écran de confirmation/instructions pourtant mentionné partout ou le billet d'avion)
4. Je n'ose me réjouir trop tôt, on va voir combien de temps cela met à arriver.

En effet, transit ou séjour, ils s'en fichent. Et si ils refusent l'ESTA, il faut un visa (qui dure 10 ans).
J'ignore si un changement de passeport peut fonctionner... Est-ce le nom ou le passeport qui est dans leurs bases de données et d'ailleurs, comment pourraient-ils savoir que qqun est allé en Iran en dehors du tampon ou du déclaratif ?
Personnellement, j'avais le tampon Iran et j'ai donc déclaré lors de la soumission ESTA en ligne que j'avais été en Iran. Si je n'avais pas eu le tampon, je ne sais pas ce que j'aurais fait...
NB : pour mon cas ci-dessus, j'ai reçu le visa dans ma boite aux lettres le vendredi soir pour un vol le samedi matin, donc l'un dans l'autre, ça n'a pas été si long (avec en plus un jour férié).

I’m planning a trip to Laos from France with a transit through Thailand involving 2 entries. I might spend up to 7 days max in Thailand (round trip).
The flight I’ve spotted: arrival at BKK and return to France 31 days later.
With the new regulations/visa:
"Starting September 15, 2026, French nationals holding an ordinary passport will be able to stay in Thailand visa-free for up to 30 days for tourism purposes only, down from the previous 60 days."

I’m planning a trip from France to Alberta/British Columbia, and I’m unsure about which bank card to use for the security deposit with the rental company (I’m thinking of going with AVIS).
I contacted Avis Canada, and they told me a credit card is absolutely required. I asked my bank for a credit card (a *real* credit card), but they only offered me a deferred debit card.
My question: For a rental with Avis Canada, is a Gold International Mastercard deferred debit card usable for the security deposit needed to finalize the rental? Is the "CREDIT" label enough? (Some cards say "CREDIT" and others say "CARTE DE CREDIT"—seems minor, but it’s actually a big deal in how the card works.)
I’ve seen conflicting info everywhere I look... My bank says it’s *usually* okay (the deferred debit card), while Avis Canada insists it *must* be a credit card, not debit—even when I mention the deferred debit card.
I know the whole credit card concept is already confusing, and on top of that, some sites say a deferred debit card counts as a credit card, while others say it doesn’t.

I’ll explain my situation.
Unfortunately, I lost my passport, and I only realized it two weeks before my departure for a humanitarian mission in Libya. I’m a nurse, and this mission really means a lot to me.
First, I applied for an emergency passport, but it was denied by the Val-d'Oise prefecture on the grounds that a planned humanitarian mission wasn’t considered an urgent reason.
So, I submitted a biometric passport application on July 20th. Since then, the tracking has been stuck, and the town hall can’t (or won’t) give me any clear information. Every time I call, I get a different story. The last update I received was that the passport had been produced since July 23rd with a status of "about to be shipped," but nothing since then.
I’ve managed to push my departure back to next Tuesday at the latest, but I’m starting to really panic.
Have any of you submitted an application around July 20th, especially in Val-d'Oise (95)? How long did you wait between the passport being produced and it being available at the town hall? Is it normal for this step to take this long?
This mission means so much to me. I had everything organized, and I’m also supposed to attend a friend’s wedding right after near the border.

I’m a bit embarrassed because I need to travel to Quebec from February 27th to March 13th. I’m a regular visitor to Canada—this will be my 10th trip since 1997, plus a year as a permanent resident (2000–2001) and a cross-country run from Vancouver to Halifax in 2011. So, I’m definitely not a terrorist!
But since our last trip in July 2015, they’ve introduced this eTA thing. Seems more like a way to make money than to actually secure Canada, if you ask me, but anyway, that’s not the point.
I applied for an eTA for myself, my wife, and our two kids. They all got approved within hours, but not me! I was asked to create a GC key and then an IRCC account, which I did. Normally, you get news within 72 hours, but since Monday, January 15th, nothing!
In the "message" section of the account, it says "explanation letter (required)" with a deadline of January 25th, but I can’t find any explanation anywhere—despite searching the Canadian government website and Google. No links, nothing!
I’ve emailed them but haven’t heard back yet. I’m thinking of calling the Canadian embassy in Paris tomorrow. Even though I’m not stressing yet, it’d be a bummer if everyone else got to go without me!
If anyone’s had this issue before or knows what this explanation letter is about, I’d love to hear more.

I’ve tried my hotel, the Lotte Hotel (which is well-known in Seoul), the airport—basically, I’ve entered at least 20 addresses, all rejected....

I bought a one-way flight (Ryanair) and a return flight (EasyJet) to spend a week in Morocco in April.
My passport expires 3 weeks after the return date.
Some websites say the passport must be valid for 3 months at the time of entry.
However, it will still be valid both on entry and return, but its validity will only be 1 month at the time of entry (and 3 weeks on the return date, everything prepaid).
It's an individual family trip.
The consulate can't give me an answer—they're still looking into it (really!)
Last year, we stayed for 3 months in Thailand, north of Khao Lak, and were able to benefit from the 2-month visa exemption, renewable for one month by going to Takua Pa to validate a 1-month extension (1,900 baht).
This year, it’s a disaster for us—not only were we planning a 4-month stay, adding a visa run in between (which some say is quite risky), but the law is apparently changing in the coming months with the return of the 1-month exemption (plus the usual 1-month option). So, we looked into applying for a 6-month multiple-entry visa, allowing a maximum of 60 consecutive days in Thailand. However, I can’t find anywhere the minimum time required outside Thailand between two stays—do any of you have an idea?

As a French national, I need to obtain a short-stay visa that can be converted to a long-stay one. To do this, I have to send the required documents to the Madagascar embassy in Paris.
No issues with that procedure so far.
If I get this visa, once I arrive in Madagascar, I’ll need to provide the same documents to the Ministry of the Interior in Anosy. I’m trying to find an email address or website for the Ministry to check which documents I need to submit (I think they ask for additional ones).

I’d like to know if anyone has already applied for a private visa to Russia with an invitation from a Russian resident.
I traveled earlier this year with an e-visa, but since I want to stay longer, I’ll be visiting my friend who lives in eastern Russia.
For the visa application, does the invitation need to be on an official paper form issued by the Russian ministry? And most importantly, do I need to present the original for the application, or is there an electronic version that can be sent directly to the consulate in France?

I filled out the B2 form to apply for a visa, created an account on Atvis to pay the visa fees and schedule a meet-up, but every time I try to pay with my Boursobank Visa 1st card, they refuse the payment with a message telling me to check my details (address), even though everything is correct. Does anyone know why this is happening, or maybe they don’t accept Visa cards? Are you aware of this?

We need to apply for a B2 visa because we visited Iran in 2018. It currently costs $185, but they’re planning an additional $250 fee per person for the same visa—it’s been approved but not yet implemented. Does anyone know when this fee will take effect?

I’ve read that China may ask for proof of exit within 30 days (flight ticket or other reservation). Since we’d be leaving by land, I’m wondering how this works in practice.
