Hi,

I'm about to rent a self-drive 4x4 in Mongolia. Has anyone heard of GOBI.RENT? Otherwise, do you have any tips for checking this company since there's no info on their website (e.g., registration number on the RCS)?

Thanks

Hi there, I hadn’t heard of this agency before, unlike some others (Happy Camel, Drive Mongolia...). Their vehicles look amazing—need to see them in person, though. What’s their daily rate? Unrelated to the rental—great idea to grab Cécile and Laurent’s guidebook.

PS: Which part of the Jura are you from? 😉

Hi there,

Thanks for your reply. Yeah, it’s a new company, but I need to be sure it’s reliable. The price for a fully equipped Toyota 79: camping gear + roof tent + off-road gear (straps, compressor, recovery board, etc.) is listed at $250 per day for August.

Yep, I’ve got Cécile and Laurent’s guide.

PS: I live in the low mountains between Lons-le-Saunier and Oyonnax.

Have you ever driven in Mongolia?

I’ve been to Mongolia twice with my own vehicle. A three-week trip there and another of about 40 days—maybe 15,000 km of dirt tracks. I lived for a long time in Les Rousses and spent six years in Oyonnax.

Okay, $250 is starting to get a bit steep—I was thinking more around 150 €...
