Nous partons en voyage dans 2 semaine avec une location prise pour 19jours entre san francisco et los angeles.
Nous avons bien été debité pour cette location.
Cependant nous avons payé avec une carte visa classic du credit agricole. Cette carte est indiqué comme carte de debit sur le site precedement donné.
Nous avons fait la reservation sur opodo pour le loueur budget.
Doit-je m'inquieter ?
Nous disposons au cas ou d'une autre carte ou il es indiqué carte de credit donc la pas de problème !

BUDGET est une filiale de AVIS et applique les condition AVIS.
Il n'y a pas de probleme particulier en Californie pour les cartes. De toute façon, comme vs venez par una agence, vs pourrez donner la carte que vs voulez car le loueur ne vs connait pas et ne sait pas avec quoi vs avez payé.
Donc vs pouvez donner votre carte de crdit en garantie, ou votre carte de débit et ils vs demanderons alors peut-etre votre passeport et votre preuve de billet retour.
Au fait : Bizarre de louer chez Opodo. Ils sont en general tres chers

Par contre sur la reservation opodo j'ai :
Le conducteur principal devra être en possession d'une carte de crédit à son nom et prénom lors de la prise en charge de la voiture. La carte devra avoir suffisamment de fonds disponibles pour couvrir la franchise/le dépôt de garantie (qui sera bloqué(e) sur la carte pour la durée de la location). Votre carte sera également nécessaire pour régler les frais locaux, tout équipement supplémentaire ou service additionnel achetés sur place.
Le paiement en espèces et les cartes de débit ne sont pas acceptés.

Concernant le tarif j'ai eu une Ford Escape pour 19 jour à 852Euros, je n'avais pas trouvé moins chère à l'époque.
Les agences et intermediaires ne sont pas toujours au courant de la réalité (Les call centers français des loueurs non plus.)
A titre d'exemple, on voit souvent qu'il faut 1 an de permis pour louer aux USA et au Canada, ce qui est faux.
Pour les cartes debit/credit, en gros, il y a les grandes villes de l'Est ou les cartes de debit ne sont pas acceptées lors de la prise du vehicule. (A la fin de la location, on peut toujours regler par carte de debit)
Dans l'ouest, les loueurs les acceptent, à condition de fournir en plus le passeport et la preuve d'un billet retour.
Le fait de venir par une agence est plus compliqué car le loueur ne vs connait pas du tout. C'est pour celà qu'il vous bloque la caution sur votre compte.
C'st normal car comme OPODO joe le role de son propre assureur, en vs facturant d'ailleurs en plus les assurances supercover, en cas d'accident c'est vs qui serez debité des frais et OPODO vs remboursera.
Avantage du prépaiement en liquide à la caisse de la station : faire de la monnaie sur les grosses coupures en $ dont je me remplis les poches avant de partir
Il y en a qui ont de la chance d'avoir les poches pleines de grosses coupures en dollars ! 😉 😉 😛 🙂

Je fais un petit retour rapide,
Mardi, on a pris la voiture chez Hertz à Las Vegas. Et comme on était une bonne heure 1/2 en avance j'ai yeuté ce qui était écrit chez tous les loueurs (une bonne dizaine). La plupart demandaient 2 ID + le billet retour pour les carte débit + un check credit card worthiness... Sauf Avis qui à LV refusait les debit card, c'était écrit noir sur blanc.
Aussi, certaines villes comme Boston, Detroit etc... Refusait aussi les debit card. Comme le disait Jean Pierre.
Pour notre part, ils ont demandé juste 2 pièces d'identité. Pas le billet avion. Puis il a demandé la carte (visa 1er debit boursorama) et il l'a passée dans une petite machine. Aucune reaction du gars, rien d'ecrit sur sa machine. On a pu prendre la voiture sans probleme. Ouf !
En plus on a eu de la chance, on devait avoir une style Corolla, on a eu une impala ! Donc surclassé. Meme pas eu le choix, c etait celle là ou rien. Trop content.

Je crois que notre ami ns dit qu'il est HERTZ GOLD, mais que comme c'est la premiere fois, il a donné sa carte pour validation;
Cette carte de debit est passée sans probleme.
Il a demandé ensuite si il pouvait payer au retour avec une autre carte (Revolut) et on lui a repondu que c'etait accepté.
Si ma traduction est bonne, ca confirme tout ce qu'on a dit sur les cartes chez HERTZ.
Pour l'instant tout va bien on est sur la route entre sf et la
On est content mais pour l'instant rien d'extraordinaire à part bixby bridge on ca monter puissance c'était le but demain Universal

Comme je le disais plus haut quand on arrive à destination cette année c’était l'irlande, que l'itinéraire est fait avec les nuitées réservées et bien ont se retrouve très mal quand on vous refuse la location de voiture sous prétexte que votre visa premier est une carte de débit .
C'est la première fois que cela m'arrive depuis que je loue des voitures à l’étranger.
Donc on peut se poser des questions et trouver la solution afin que cela ne se reproduise plus et qu'on puisse partir en toute sérénité .
Dons d'accord avec vous pour prendre cela au sérieux .

Bonjour, je complète ce post par une remarque pour l'inscription au gold plus rewards cheez Hertz. Lorsque je m'inscris sur le site et que je rentre les données de ma carte Visa premier celle-ci est rejetée car Hertz me dit que c'est une carte de débit. J'ai essayé avec la carte bleue visa toute simple de mon épouse et cela a fonctionné. J'ai vu dans des posts précédents qu'on pouvait rajouter une carte de débit sur son profil merci de m'indiquer comment la rajouter car je n'ai pas trouvé la solution à chaque fois ma carte visa premier est rejetée.

Moi cette année J'ai payé 2490 € pour 88 jours ,28,29 € jours payé avec une carte Gold banque Carrefour et seul Alamo acceptait les locations longue durée , la somme a été prélevée par Alamo le jour même. Sur place il m'ont refusé ma carte alors que la totalité de la location était déjà prélevé depuis 2 mois . Heureusement, j'ai 3 cartes bleues, j'ai fourni ma carte Gold du Crédit Mutuel et cela a passé. Cette année , j'ais également prix une autre carte Gold par ING, c'est gratuit avec 1200 € de revenus alors que Boursorama il faut 2600€ . Je me suis fait piraté ma carte ING fin juin, j'ai fait opposition immédiatement et a mon retour fin juillet j'ai déposé plainte et envoyer les justificatifs de plainte et les justificatifs des opérations frauduleuses , j'ais été remboursé 3 jours après.
Évitez la banque Carrefour complètement incompétente en cas de problème et en plus il vous laisse dans la merde.
Je vous conseille d'avoir plusieurs cartes bleues , pour la même carte bleue il y a des différences de qualité de service suivant la banque. Mais aux USA ma carte Gold du Crédit Mutuel ne passe pas dans les stations-service alors que ma carte Gold ING passe , la carte carrefour aussi passe une fois sur deux . Il faut parfois faire plusieurs stations-service pour pouvoir faire le plein.
ATTENTION cette année encore le système de fermeture des portes automatique c'est mis en route alors que mes clés étaient a l'intérieur de la voiture Hunday santa Fé, cela met arrivé avec plusieurs voitures . Si cela vous arrive essayer d'écarté le haut de la portière et avec un porte-manteau fil de fer essayé de débloqué le système de fermeture , ou alors comme cela arrive très fréquemment les policiers ont le nécessaire pour ouvrir les portières.
Aujourd'hui les billets avion Paris Los Angeles pour juin 2018 avec Lufthansa sont a 380 € TTC 354 € avec Swiss

les clés n'était pas sur le contacte je faisait le plein d'essence . Cela met arrivé avec des chevrolets , jeep chrokee, jeep patriot, hunday Sonata.
Quand j'ai 2 clés maintenant j'en planque une accroché au chassi.
Que la clef soit sur le contact ou pas, si le système n'est pas désactivé, il fera son travail de barrer les porte après environ une minute...très pratique à mon avis.
C'est inouï, ça! 🙂
Puisque JP vous dit que, quelque soit la carte enregistrée dans le profil Gold, il n'y aura pas de pb.
Allez un témoignage supplémentaire:
- Location en direct sur Hertz.fr avec mon profil Gold et les codes qui vont bien, en décembre dernier, pour un SUV standard, en paiement sur place à la fin du trip, pour un séjour à Las Vegas en fin mars 2017, avec une Visa Premier Caisse d'Epargne de débit
Arrivés au "stand" Hertz par la navette gratuite, un panneau spécial, client Gold à suivre ( donc pas de comptoir) - à l'entrée du parking, sur un grand panneau d'affichage immanquable, mon nom et le numéro de l'emplacement de la voiture. Point! Les clés sont d'ssus!
A la barrière, le contrat, le passeport et le permis de conduire (le mien uniquement, celui de mon épouse, agrée automatiquement n'a pas ét�� relevé)
Restitution de la voiture avec la balance à 0$ une fois acquittée, sur le parking, la facture prévisionnelle, point final.
Inutile de stresser, happy vacances ... 😎

Si vs êtes un client normal, vs allez au comptoir normal, et là au lieu qu'on vs attribue un véhicule, vs allez en prendre un sur le parc, comme chez ALAMO;
Pour les GOLD, vs avez un véhicule affecté à votre arrivée, comme avant, er comme avant, vs pouvez aller le changer en vs rendant au GOLD CHOICE.
Je suis GOLD mais 1ere fois chez Hertz ... On verra si je peu faire mon voyage annulé de 2017 en 2018

Carte gold rewards Hertz faite sur les conseils de JPG . Aucun souci pour la locationde notre voiture avec notre carte de débit MasterCard hier à Los Angeles. Par contre si nous sommes passé très rapidement au comptoir, la voiture n'était pas prête malgré la pré réservation et il a fallu qu'on attende un bon moment pour la récupérer !!!

J 'ai effectué une réservation chez Hertz .Celle ci est dejà prépayée avec une Goldmastercard.
Je présenterai cette carte au comptoir et je possède en plus une mastercard à débit différé.
Cela sera t il suffisant ?
Hertz n'indiquant pour ce problème qu'un numéro contactable à partir des usa et l'assistance mastercard ne sait pas répondre a ma question ...

We’ve planned to visit Montmorency Falls and Île d'Orléans.
I’d love to hear what route you’d recommend for the drive from Sherbrooke to Quebec City—we’ll have the whole day to take it easy.

A friend is renting a car for an upcoming trip during the All Saints' holiday.
Nowadays, all rental cars come with GPS, but do you know if you can use it without paying for the GPS rental? I have no idea since I always use my own!
After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏

We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

We’ll be alternating between house swaps, motels, and campgrounds. I’ve booked all the accommodations (except the campground at Bryce since sunset bookings open only 14 days in advance) and the first activities, as well as the most touristy ones.
I’m currently putting together my day-by-day roadbook and having some trouble planning certain days, like in LA or Las Vegas. Choosing hikes isn’t easy either—it’s tough to decide!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

My 16-year-old son is flying to Grand Rapids with other kids his age. There’s a layover in Detroit. There’s no unaccompanied minor service available. Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

**Parking:**
We’d like to walk to Eagle Falls and then Eagle Lake. I’ve spotted two parking lots that seem close to each other and give access to the trailhead. Where and how do we pay for entry to Emerald Bay State Park and Inspiration Point?
**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?
Hi there. I'm shocked by the price of the Upper Antelope Canyon tour—$175 for less than an hour… You might say, "if you can’t afford it…" But the real question is whether it’s really worth it, because $350 for two makes me feel like I’m getting ripped off. For those who’ve done both Lower and Upper, can you tell me if the price difference is really justified? Thanks

As you can see, we're heading back from September 6th to the 27th.

Devil’s Kitchen and Boiling Spring Lake (Day 5)
I’ve read there are trails to access the trailheads for Cinder Cone (11 km) and Warner Valley. Are these easy trails for an SUV?
Are there any other must-see spots or things we shouldn’t miss?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.
Thanks for advising me on the booking—should I reserve a room in the hotel or go for a cabin for the best view?

I’m planning a week-long family trip to NYC in October 2026. The focus is on museums and soaking up the New York vibe. I’ve been checking Airbnb, but the prices in Manhattan are through the roof. Since I don’t know NYC well, is it "wise" to look outside Manhattan? Any neighborhoods you’d recommend?

Just a little post that might interest some of you:
Travelers to the United States | Photo Now Mandatory Upon Entry and Exit | La Presse
I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!
