Je prepare actuellement ma demande de visa de transit turkmene. Je souhaiterais visiter Konye Urgench et donc si possible traverser la frontiere a proximite.
Mais j'ai lu que ce secteur est soumis a autorisation. Quelqu'un sait-il s'il est accessible avec un visa de transit?
Je recherche egalement des infos sur ces postes frontieres : horaires d'ouverture, transports, possibilites de change, formalites et probite des douaniers. Est ce que quelqu'un a deja traverse la frontiere a cet endroit ?
Je reponds a ma propre question, ca peut servir a d'autres.
J'ai traverse la frontiere a ce poste (Khojeili) en aout 2007 (en semaine) avec un visa de transit pris a Tashkent. Les points d'entree et de sortie n'etaient pas inscrits sur le visa, seulement les dates.
Dans le sens Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan, il n'y a apparement aucune restriction de circulation.
Les formalites ont ete rapides de chaque cote et les douaniers se sont reveles serviables et anglophones.
Pour rejondre la frontiere depuis Nukus, il faut compter 10$ en taxi (1/2h) et moins de 1500 sums en bus puis taxi collectif depuis Khojeili (1h). De l'autre cote de la frontiere, Konye Urgench est a 5 minutes de taxi collectif ou prive.
Il est possible de changer des devises au marche noir a la frontiere, mais c'est mieux au bazar de KU. Pour et depuis la frontiere il est possible de payer les taxis aussi bien avec des sums ouzbek que des manats turkmenes (en dollars egalement).
Félicitation pour ce voyage => rare une femme qui aime l aventure de nos jours. jespère le faire dans l'autre sens du turkmenistan au pakistan. J'ai déja visité l Iran.
A propos du Turkmenistan où peut ton dormir a Aschabat à petit prix? est til possible d'acheter un tapis?

A propos du Xinjiang, autour d 'urumqui est til vraiment interessant d aller a Turfan et l 'étang céleste sachant que cest loin de kasgar et que urumqui a O intérêt. est ce que les Ouigours sont hospitaliers car kles chinois nont pas la réputation d'être hospitaliers.
Concernant Flores et Komodo (pour un voyage quand jaurais le temps) est il facile de se déplacer sur Flores et se sy rendre depuis Bali? les habitants sont tils acceuillants? les volcans facilement accesible?

J'ai beaucoup aimé ce voyage même si j'ai aussi beaucoup de regrets : ne pas être allée au Tajiskistan et être restée trop peu de temps au Nord Pakistan, au Xinjiang et au Turkmenistan. Deux raisons principales : la durée limitée des visas et le temps perdu à les obtenir. Si tu le peux, je te conseille donc d'en faire le maximum avant le départ (par exemple, j'ai vu des gens scotchés deux semaines à Bishkek parce que l'ambassade chinoise leur réclamait une lettre d'invitation).
A Ashgabat, j'ai dormi au Amanov homestay recommandé dans le lonely planet : 10$ pour une chambre simple, non négociable (une rente pour le propriétaire). Je crois que d'autres adresses de homestays circulent sur le Thorn Tree de Lonely planet. Sinon il ya des chambres d'hotel à partir de 10$ la double, plus souvent 15 ou 20$.
J'ai vu de beaux tapis (nomades) au marché du dimanche près d'Ashgabat et les prix d'annonce étaient bien plus bas qu'à Mashad. Mais j'ai lu que seuls les tapis de moins de 50 ans sont exportables et que les formalités douanières sont longues et compliquées. Et les bagages sont fouillés à la sortie du pays. Désolé, je n'en sais pas plus.
Concernant la kkh, je n'ai pas dormi chez l'habitant, mais j'ai entendu parler de homastays (payants) à Kashgar (quelques adresses ouighours circulent entre les voyageurs). Il y a également des yourtes kirghises près du lac Karakul (très très beau paysage).
Les ouighours sont très accueillants. Les Chinois le sont aussi à leur manière. C'est essentiellement un problème de communication entre eux et moi (je suis hermétique à la langue). De même, Urumqi n'est pas totalement dépourvue d'intérêt, mais il est tellement difficile de communiquer avec les gens dans cette grande ville ...
L'intérêt de Turfan c'est que le désert y est relativement accessible (routes et pistes, taxis disponibles).
A Ashgabat, j avais dormi dans un hotel pour 10$ non négociable. Il se trouve à coté du stari aeroport( vieil aeroport). Si je me souviens bien le bus numéro 22 y-va.
Les postes frontières ferment à 17 heures.
Si tu passes par Mary, il y a aussi un hotel à 10$ juste à coté de la gare.
Je suis intéressée par toute info sur les treks dans les monts Fan.
Je serai à Samarcande et voudrais faire un trek de 5-6 jours au Tajikistan.

Je vais demander un visa de transit pour le turkménistan une fois mon visa pour l'Iran obtenu. L'idée serait de relier Boukara à Mashhad. Il me faudra donc passer par Mery. Est il possible d'effectuer le trajet de la frontière Ouzbèque à la frontière Iranienne sans avoir recours à une agence ? Les bus et les trains sont ils fiables ? Trouve t'on aisément des taxis à la frontière avec l'Ouzbékistan pour nous déposer à Mery, puis au poste frontière de Sarakh ? (J'ai contacté une agence . La traversée revient très cher, quoique moins cher que l'avion).
Autre question: Combien faut il prévoir pour une chambre d'hôtel avec un minimum de comfort à Mery ?

J ai fais ce trajet dans le sens inerse( Bukhara- Mashhad). Deja, le poste frontière ferme à 17h, donc mieux vaut partir tot le matin car les formalités administratives peuvent parfos être longues tout dépend de l' humeur des douaniers.
Pour les petits budgets, voila une solution: prendre un taxi partagé pour le poste frontière( turkmenskaya granitsa), puis il y a un no man's land. là un taxi va vous prendre 5000 sum pour 1km. Arrivé dd côté turkmène, il y a des taxi qui vont jusqu' à Turkmènabat pour 2 à 5 $ (1$= 25 000 manat environ) sauf erreur on peut changer de l argent au poste frontière( légal ou au black).
De là, tu peux prendre un taxi privé pour 8 à 20 $ jusqu' à Mary. Il y a 1 hotel pas trop cher 10 $. il est juste à coté de la gare( hotel shankar? un truc comme ça). Tu peux prenre le train depuis Mary pour Ashkabat pour la modique somme d' 1 $. Mais il n' y a qu' un train par jour.
A Ashkabat, il y a un hotel pas cher près de l ancien aéroport(stari aéroport) 10$. Le bus 22 y va. pour rejoindre le poste frontière, prendre un taxi jusqu' au no man's land pour 2 à 3 $. Puis un autre pour 5 $ jusqu au poste frontière qui ferme à 17h lui aussi. la un autre taxi puis un bus te conduisent jusqu au poste frontière iranien. Ensuite il y a des taxi partagé pour 10 000 Rials (one khomeni) jusqu' à qushan, puis des bus pour Mashhad toutes les 30 min.
Perso, le transit par le turkmenistan m' a couté 70$ pour 4 jours. C était une chouette aventure!
je relance ce topic pour savoir si vous avez des infos utiles concernant le logement au Turkménistan, plus précisément à Darvasa et Köneürgench, car j'ai beaucoup de mal à trouver des informations.
à Darvaza tu dormiras à la belle étoile mais fait gaffe il y'a beaucoup de sales bestioles dans le désert Turkmène. je croyais que les autorités voulaient se débarrasser de ce cratère

merci pour ces infos! du coup je ne peux pas renseigner d’hôtel dans la lettre pour ma demande de visa...pas grave, c'est du transit, du coup c'est surement moins contraignant que le visa touristique (pas de besoin de guide apparemment, mais assez contradictoire car j'ai lu plusieurs qu'il était quasi impossible de visiter seul le Turkménistan en dehors d'Ashgabat)

I’m planning a trip from France to Alberta/British Columbia, and I’m unsure about which bank card to use for the security deposit with the rental company (I’m thinking of going with AVIS).
I contacted Avis Canada, and they told me a credit card is absolutely required. I asked my bank for a credit card (a *real* credit card), but they only offered me a deferred debit card.
My question: For a rental with Avis Canada, is a Gold International Mastercard deferred debit card usable for the security deposit needed to finalize the rental? Is the "CREDIT" label enough? (Some cards say "CREDIT" and others say "CARTE DE CREDIT"—seems minor, but it’s actually a big deal in how the card works.)
I’ve seen conflicting info everywhere I look... My bank says it’s *usually* okay (the deferred debit card), while Avis Canada insists it *must* be a credit card, not debit—even when I mention the deferred debit card.
I know the whole credit card concept is already confusing, and on top of that, some sites say a deferred debit card counts as a credit card, while others say it doesn’t.

I’ll explain my situation.
Unfortunately, I lost my passport, and I only realized it two weeks before my departure for a humanitarian mission in Libya. I’m a nurse, and this mission really means a lot to me.
First, I applied for an emergency passport, but it was denied by the Val-d'Oise prefecture on the grounds that a planned humanitarian mission wasn’t considered an urgent reason.
So, I submitted a biometric passport application on July 20th. Since then, the tracking has been stuck, and the town hall can’t (or won’t) give me any clear information. Every time I call, I get a different story. The last update I received was that the passport had been produced since July 23rd with a status of "about to be shipped," but nothing since then.
I’ve managed to push my departure back to next Tuesday at the latest, but I’m starting to really panic.
Have any of you submitted an application around July 20th, especially in Val-d'Oise (95)? How long did you wait between the passport being produced and it being available at the town hall? Is it normal for this step to take this long?
This mission means so much to me. I had everything organized, and I’m also supposed to attend a friend’s wedding right after near the border.

I’m a bit embarrassed because I need to travel to Quebec from February 27th to March 13th. I’m a regular visitor to Canada—this will be my 10th trip since 1997, plus a year as a permanent resident (2000–2001) and a cross-country run from Vancouver to Halifax in 2011. So, I’m definitely not a terrorist!
But since our last trip in July 2015, they’ve introduced this eTA thing. Seems more like a way to make money than to actually secure Canada, if you ask me, but anyway, that’s not the point.
I applied for an eTA for myself, my wife, and our two kids. They all got approved within hours, but not me! I was asked to create a GC key and then an IRCC account, which I did. Normally, you get news within 72 hours, but since Monday, January 15th, nothing!
In the "message" section of the account, it says "explanation letter (required)" with a deadline of January 25th, but I can’t find any explanation anywhere—despite searching the Canadian government website and Google. No links, nothing!
I’ve emailed them but haven’t heard back yet. I’m thinking of calling the Canadian embassy in Paris tomorrow. Even though I’m not stressing yet, it’d be a bummer if everyone else got to go without me!
If anyone’s had this issue before or knows what this explanation letter is about, I’d love to hear more.

I’ve tried my hotel, the Lotte Hotel (which is well-known in Seoul), the airport—basically, I’ve entered at least 20 addresses, all rejected....

I bought a one-way flight (Ryanair) and a return flight (EasyJet) to spend a week in Morocco in April.
My passport expires 3 weeks after the return date.
Some websites say the passport must be valid for 3 months at the time of entry.
However, it will still be valid both on entry and return, but its validity will only be 1 month at the time of entry (and 3 weeks on the return date, everything prepaid).
It's an individual family trip.
The consulate can't give me an answer—they're still looking into it (really!)
Last year, we stayed for 3 months in Thailand, north of Khao Lak, and were able to benefit from the 2-month visa exemption, renewable for one month by going to Takua Pa to validate a 1-month extension (1,900 baht).
This year, it’s a disaster for us—not only were we planning a 4-month stay, adding a visa run in between (which some say is quite risky), but the law is apparently changing in the coming months with the return of the 1-month exemption (plus the usual 1-month option). So, we looked into applying for a 6-month multiple-entry visa, allowing a maximum of 60 consecutive days in Thailand. However, I can’t find anywhere the minimum time required outside Thailand between two stays—do any of you have an idea?

As a French national, I need to obtain a short-stay visa that can be converted to a long-stay one. To do this, I have to send the required documents to the Madagascar embassy in Paris.
No issues with that procedure so far.
If I get this visa, once I arrive in Madagascar, I’ll need to provide the same documents to the Ministry of the Interior in Anosy. I’m trying to find an email address or website for the Ministry to check which documents I need to submit (I think they ask for additional ones).

I’d like to know if anyone has already applied for a private visa to Russia with an invitation from a Russian resident.
I traveled earlier this year with an e-visa, but since I want to stay longer, I’ll be visiting my friend who lives in eastern Russia.
For the visa application, does the invitation need to be on an official paper form issued by the Russian ministry? And most importantly, do I need to present the original for the application, or is there an electronic version that can be sent directly to the consulate in France?

I filled out the B2 form to apply for a visa, created an account on Atvis to pay the visa fees and schedule a meet-up, but every time I try to pay with my Boursobank Visa 1st card, they refuse the payment with a message telling me to check my details (address), even though everything is correct. Does anyone know why this is happening, or maybe they don’t accept Visa cards? Are you aware of this?

I’ve read that China may ask for proof of exit within 30 days (flight ticket or other reservation). Since we’d be leaving by land, I’m wondering how this works in practice.

On her ticket, it only has her maiden name (e.g., Martine DUPOND).
On her passport, it’s written as Martine DUPOND épouse AVRY.
No issues for travel, I hope I did the right thing with the ticket?
Then for the ESTA, is just Martine DUPOND enough, or do I need to include the "épouse AVRY" part like on the passport?
