Est-ce un parcours théorique correspondant à vos envies ou avez-vous vraiment tenu compte des contraintes liées aux rotations inter-îles d'Air Tahiti ?
Moi j'aurais placé une nuit de plus à Huahine ainsi qu'à Rangiroa... Peut-être en enlevant une à Raiatea (vu que tu loges sur Tahaa) car on a pas trouvé qu'il y ait grand chose à faire sur Raiatea (oups, je vais m'attirer les foudres de certains 😛). Disons qu'on y a passé 4 nuits, on a fait le tour en voiture, le tour de tahaa, un baptême plongé et une petite rando.
Par contre si tu aimes "l'isolement" et le calme, je te conseille une nuit de plus à Maupiti, ile coup de coeur de notre voyage...
Et puis peut-être que tu pourrais rajouter un atoll, car différents des iles hautes... en enlevant une nuit à Bora ?
Enfin, voilà mon avis...

ce programme n'a suivi aucun horaire de transfert A VOIR
Vous auriez tout intérêt à commencer par là : consulter le programme de l'ensemble des vols inter-îles d'Air Tahiti et vous allez vous apercevoir que c'est un vrai casse-tête pour construire un itinéraire car toutes les îles ne sont pas reliées quotidiennement les unes aux autres et cela conditionne donc directement le nombre de nuitées sur chacune d'elles.

Si votre budget n'a pas de limite, vous pouvez procéder comme bon vous semble ; vous passerez le nombre de nuits nécessaires sur chaque île en attendant le vol qui vous intéresse pour la destination que vous avez choisie.

Ces pass ont des contraintes, notamment pour les transits sur Papeete. Bien lire les conditions générales d'utilisation.
Pour Tahaa, n'oubliez pas qu'il n'y a pas d'aéroport et, à moins de bénéficier de la navette privée d'une structure haut de gamme, la navette régulière qui relie Raiatea à Tahaa et retour circule le matin.
Les suggestions d'Euphroozine : une nuit de plus à Maupiti ? Oui dans l'absolu (Maupiti a tellement de charme....) mais si vous revenez à Bora (selon votre itinéraire actuel), ce ne sera pas possible ; le Maupiti Express circulant tous les 2 jours entre Bora et Maupiti, ce sera 2 ou 4 nuits...

Ou alors repartir de Maupiti vers Papeete en avion et placer Moorea au début ou à la fin de votre séjour.
Bref, penchez-vous sur la question des déplacements et de leurs horaires : ce sont eux qui déterminent tout.

Autant pour moi : en fait il existe une liaison aérienne Maupiti/Bora mais uniquement le dimanche. 3 nuits sur Maupiti sont donc possibles si vous programmez le séjour en fin de semaine (départ de Bora avec le Maupiti Express le jeudi et retour avion le dimanche). 🙂

Selon tes recommandations, j'ai modifié le programme, mais ce qui cloche c'est que l'on ne maitrise pas les transferts d'avion.
Donc j'hésite pour continuer à réserver les hébergements.

Non, là il ne faut pas s'affoler : vu le peu de touristes, l'offre reste largement supérieure à la demande, même en juillet-août...
Je pense que les personnes revenues récemment de Polynésie peuvent le confirmer.
En ce moment et pour les 3 prochains mois, il y a même une promo de Tahiti tourisme : Un billet et une semaine de séjour acheté = le deuxième billet offert !!!

Qu'il va falloir le modifier encore 😉 : ça ne fonctionne pas tel quel pour Maupiti --> donc pas non plus pour Rangiroa dans la foulée.

Nous ne connaissons pas les circonstances de votre voyage mais à priori, tout le monde vous dira que c'est trop. C'est jouable mais il faut aimer tout enchaîner sans se poser vraiment.
Même si vous n'avez pas de contrainte budgétaire, votre escapade à Mangareva (attention également aux dates qui ne coïncident pas avec le programme des vols, voir image 2) plombe sérieusement le total -pour y passer 3 nuits-.

Je ne suis pas tour opérator mais je suis d'avis à en faire moins et mieux. Relire un peu toutes les discussions à ce propos, vous avez encore le temps et chacun y est allé de son avis. 😛
Et peut-être aussi demander un devis à une agence sur place. Tahiti Travel est connue pour son sérieux et a été citée ici plusieurs fois par des personnes satisfaites. Je n'ai pas d'intérêt chez eux ! 😉 et il y en a sûrement d'autres...

sur tahiti, la randonnée de l'aorai est superbe, départ du belvédere ( demande à ta pension )

bora, à voir mais surtout sa voisine Maupiti:juste du bonheur, Bora il y a 40 ans! ( raie manta, club de plongée tout neuf!!)
aux marquises à nuku hiva, je te conseille la randonnée pour voir la cascade de HAKAUI, 350 m de haut un beau parcours
de jouer à la pétanque avecles prisonniers devant leur cellule ( tu verras!)
hiva oa très jolie (l' aérodrome est .... polynésien )
ton parcours est très bien profite comme on dit ici ............

Tu peux réserver dès maintenant, les horaires d'avion ne changent pas beaucoup. J'avais réservé en février par là pour un voyage en octobre, et on a eu 2 horaires de changé mais de 20min donc pas de soucis.
C'est vrai que les horaires d'avions sont un vrai casse tête, j'ai passé un mois à préparer mon voyage en fonction de ça ! Et un conseil : si tu peux prends les vols du matin, tu perdras moins de temps (sauf si tu comptes faire la grasse mat...). Comme on t'amène à l'aéroport 1h avant, le temps de partir, tu partiras environ 1h30 avant le vol. Donc si ton vol est à 8h, tu pars tôt mais t'es sur l'ile suivant à 9h donc t'as toute la journée devant... Si tu prend un vol vers 15h, tu perds tout l'aprèm...
Et puis, je pense qu'il faut prévoir 3 nuits par ile, histoire d'avoir 2 jours complets. Sinon, suivant les horaires de vols et ce que tu prévois, tu risques d'avoir le sentiment de courir tout le temps...

en fait, les horaires de cet été sont déjà connus à ce jour, même s'ils ne sont pas encore publiés. Prépares un projet de trajet (basé sur les horaires de l'été 2008), proposes le par email à Air Tahiti, et il te donnera son accord, avec les horaires précis de l'été prochain. A priori, bien des vols sont identiques, certains modifiés de quelques minutes. Le seul problème que j'ai eu concernait un vol Bora Bora - Tikehau du Lundi qui n'existe pas (au moins la semaine qui m'interessait). Ce qui a entrainé quelques modifications de mon projet initial.
Mais ça y est, mon pass est réservé ferme et payé.

Pour en revenir au projet d'itinéraire de VAILLANTJEAN, après l'expérience d'un premier voyage en P.F. il y a quelques années, je peux lui indiquer ce que j'ai prévu de faire (ou refaire) cet été :
Papeete : 2 nuits (relais Fenua). Iles Marquises (12 jours sur sur l'ARANUI III). A confirmer, car le prix me fait hésiter. Moorea (3 nuits au LINAREVA). En fait, mon premier choix, les Tipaniers où j'avais déjà résidé (très belle plage), est complet (séminaire !!!). Huahine (2 nuits non encore réservées, je ne sais pas où). Je connaissais le relais Mahana, pas mal, mais je trouve le prix maintenant trop élevé. On trouvera une pension au Nord de l'île (car j'aime bien le "jardin de corail" près de l'ancien emplacement du Sofitel). Raiatea, 3 nuits au Sunset Motel. Je referais sans faute le tour de Tahaa en pirogue. Bora Bora : 4 nuits au Novotel. Bon prix en réservant très à l'avance. Une journée AR Maupiti avec le Maupiti Express (et vélo). Egalement une journée à faire le tour du lagon avec l'excursion de "chez Nono". Tikehau : 2 nuits (Tikeahau Village ?) Rangiroa : 5 nuits à la pension Bounty (le Kia Ora que j'avais apprécié, devrait être fermé pour rénovation cet été. De toutes façon, il est maintenant vraiment trop cher). Je referai plusieurs excursions de rêve, dont le Lagon Bleu. Plongée dans la passe (en espérant revoir des raies Manta). Manihi : 2 nuits au Pearl Beach Resort. Un peu de luxe pour terminer. une dernière nuit à Papeete (Tahiti Airport Motel) avant de prendre le vol de retour.

Mais cela n'amène pas, semble-il, les hoteliers à être souples sur le prix. Ou bien, j'ai été mauvais négociateur !

Les horaires d' avion d' été, sont publiés vers le 25 Mars mais Tu peux tebaser sur ceux de l' année 2008 pour faire ta proposition à Air Tahiti
Pour les iles Marquises, je teconseille de les visiter soit en début de circuit après ton arrivée à Tahiti, tu teposes 2 nuits ou 3 et prends un avion tôt le matin pour Nuku Hiva
Si tu poses la question de l' hélico c' est vraiment là qu' il faut en prendre un et si tu loges à Taiahoe, fais le transfert de terre déserte à l'hôtel en hélico.2 nuits cela peut être juste mais c' est jouable il faut vraiment jouer sur les horaires de vols si tu veux voir quelque chose.
Pour hiva Oa, l'avionde nuku hiva fait généralement escale à Ua pou( tu peux t' y arrêter.
L' arrivée sur hiva oa se fait généralement dans l' après midi et là 2 nuits ne peuvent suffire sauf si tu as la chance de tomber un samedi d' avant ou de la rentrée d'Aout(scolaire) ou Air tahiti rajoute un avion qui fait directement Hiva Oa Papeete, sino tu dois obligatoirement repasser et attendre 3 h à Nuku Hiva pour repartir sur Tahiti et enchainer dans la foulée sur les iles.Tu pourrais te rendre à Mooréa le soir même(vols assez tardifs, pour les autres iles tu auras du mal) Tu peux restar plus longtemeps aux Marquises, elles le méritent mais rien à voir avec les imafes que l'on se fait de la polynésie, pas delagon etc et nonos à profusion.
Il y ala possinilite des croisières Aranui
Si tu veux clore par les Marquises, le seul vol que tu pourras prendre des iles est le vol Rangiroa Nuku hiva qui ne fonctionne que le samedi, ou tu devras repasser par tahiti

The plan is to leave from Paris or Brussels and break up the trip with a 3- or 4-day layover to "split" the journey in two.
Then head back to Sydney, explore the East Coast in a van, celebrate Christmas and New Year’s in Sydney, and finally return to France with another layover.

Which city should we choose for the layover (we’ve already visited Kuala Lumpur and Singapore and would like to see a different city)? Both on the way there and back?

I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the scattered info out there and I'm struggling to organize my solo trip to French Polynesia. I'm all about snorkeling—no hiking for me—so it's all about the water, water, water... I'd love to meet whales (what's the best season?), stay with locals or in budget guesthouses (I'm pretty low-key, no worries about comfort), and most importantly, be as close to the coral reefs as possible (all day long...).
I'm retired, so I've got plenty of time...

I’m reaching out because I’m finally living my dream later this year, and I could really use your advice!
On December 26th, I’m flying to Tahiti, then Moorea, and finally Bora-Bora.
Since I’ll be staying in Bora-Bora for several days, I’d love to take a day trip to another island: either Maupiti or Tahaa-Raiatea (my top picks...).
My issue is that the schedules for getting to Tahaa and then to Raiatea don’t quite work for me. Here are the two options I’ve looked into:
**Option 1: Day trip to Tahaa-Raiatea**
- Morning departure at 7:00 AM to Tahaa from Vaitape (I’ll be staying on a motu, so I need to check if there’s a shuttle connecting the motu to Vaitape early enough).
- Arrival at 8:15 AM in Poutoru, Tahaa. Tour of the island, visit to a vanilla plantation.
- Hire a "private" boat to Raiatea around 12:00–1:00 PM.
- Tour of Raiatea.
- Departure at 4:00 PM from Uturoa (Raiatea) back to Bora-Bora.
**Option 2: Day trip to Maupiti**
- Morning departure from Bora-Bora at 8:30 AM.
- Arrival in Maupiti at 10:05 AM. Visit the island and the motus.
- Return in the evening at 4:00 PM.
My questions:
- Will I have enough time to explore Tahaa-Raiatea from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM?
- Car rental? Bike rental? For all three islands...
- Time lost during rentals?
- Distance between rental shops and the ports where I arrive?
- For Tahaa and Raiatea, should I hire a guide? Would that be better organized, meaning no car rental needed, to save time or explore the island on my own?
- Finally, what do you think of these three islands and their points of interest? Which would you choose between Maupiti and Tahaa-Raiatea?

Hello! We’re heading to the Marquesas in July-August and I’d love to know if it’s possible, for a fee, to do a leg of the journey on the Aranui—like from Hiva Oa to Fatu Hiva, or Nuku Hiva to Ua Pou, or even Ua Pou to Ua Huka? Sure, there are shuttles twice a week with Codim connecting these islands, but the schedules won’t be known until two months in advance, and I need to book flights and hotels much earlier than that. So, what’s the best way to handle this?

I’ve blocked out 3 weeks at the end of March/beginning of April, arriving in Sydney and departing from Adelaide while following the coast.
Kangaroo Island is a bit of a question mark for me. If I go, I can dedicate 2.5 days to it. Is it worth the time and the cost? I’ve read plenty of travel journals highlighting the landscapes and wildlife, but I’m sure I’ll see plenty of that along my route anyway. I’m not factoring in the financial side (which isn’t negligible for KI), but I’d rather not be disappointed. What are the real added values of KI, especially since the island has been affected by fires? I’ve also come across people online calling it a tourist trap. For example, I ruled out Phillip Island because it felt too organized and structured. Sorry if I’m opening Pandora’s box here!

I usually rent a two-wheeler to keep some independence.
On several forums, people advised against it—first because it’s not really the local culture, and also because of the road conditions and local driving habits.
But I’m a bit wary of English-language forums where the typical vacation is just airport-resort-airport with a taxi in between.
Can you confirm if it’s really that risky compared to, say, Southeast Asia? What are the alternatives? Buses, taxis?

I’m planning and budgeting a trip to Australia for August 2026, lasting 40 days.

My main issue is transport to cover all of this.
The first leg is already tricky—I haven’t found a way to rent a car in Port Macquarie and drop it off in South West Rock.
And if we keep the vehicle until Cleveland (8 days) before taking the ferry to Stradbroke Island, it’s already around 1000 €.
- Are there any systems where we could buy a vehicle in Port Macquarie and be sure it’s bought back at the end of the trip in Cairns?
- Do you know of any Australian online car rental sites?
As for trains, they’re not really an option for our stay in New South Wales.
In Queensland, I found the Queensland Rail Travel website with a Brisbane–Cairns line, but trains don’t run every day.
- Do you know of any other train companies in Queensland that connect coastal cities from Brisbane to Cairns?
For flights, I checked Queensland with Qantas, and most routes require a stopover in Brisbane, which wastes a lot of time, and the prices are still high.

2025 is shaping up to be amazing, as I’m lucky enough to be planning a 6-week trip to Polynesia.
I wanted to buy the *Guide du Routard* (my favorite), but I discovered there isn’t one for this destination. And the *Lonely Planet* is from 2022, which I feel is already a bit outdated.
So I’m looking for other resources: in your opinion, what’s the best paper guide, and most importantly, what online resources have you used to prepare a trip to Polynesia?
My wife, our 3-year-old son, and I are planning a trip along Australia’s East Coast, leaving in early October and returning in mid-November. The plan is to do a 4-week road trip in a campervan, then settle down for about ten days.
The question I’m asking myself is: which way should we go? From Sydney to Cairns or the other way around? Despite all the documentation I’ve read, I’m still struggling to decide the best direction based on the climate at that time and swimming conditions.
Up north, the weather will be warmer, and the water too, unlike the south. However, in the north, there are swimming restrictions, especially because of jellyfish, whereas in the south, there seems to be less danger (apart from sharks, maybe). Are there many protected beaches in the north where we can swim safely?
Also, I should consider that in the south, the Great Barrier Reef no longer protects the beaches, so I imagine there are fewer calm spots for swimming?

I’m leaving on March 4th for Australia from Réunion Island, landing in Perth, then a road trip down to Melbourne before flying out to Vietnam on April 15th.
I’d like to visit Perth and the surrounding area, then head southwest to Margaret River, Albany, Esperance, and back to Perth to catch a flight to Adelaide. From there, I’ll make my way to Melbourne.
1/ What do you think of this itinerary?
2/ For flights, are there any domestic airlines worth prioritizing for good prices?
3/ I’m planning to rent a car after exploring Perth and the area—I’m traveling solo. Any rental companies you’d recommend, as well as nice hotels, B&Bs, or hostels?

I’m planning a solo trip from April 16th to June 2nd!
I have to work for 3 weeks in Papeete when I arrive in French Polynesia, so I can only explore on the weekends (3-day weekends). For my first weekend, I’ll visit Tahiti; my second weekend will be dedicated to Moorea, and the last weekend to Huahine.
After my work period, I’ll continue with my vacation and keep exploring:
Maupiti - 4 nights
Raiatea - 3 nights (including a day trip to Tahaa)
Bora Bora - 3 nights
Rangiroa - 4 nights (could do 3)
Tikehau - 2 nights (could do 3)
Fakarava - 3 nights
For activities, I’m mostly interested in discovering the islands, hiking, and observing wildlife.
I’m not a diver, but I plan to do a beginner’s dive once I’m there. I love snorkeling, though, and I’m wondering if I’m spending too much time in the Tuamotus, which are famous for diving from what I’ve seen.
For travel between the islands, I’ve already looked into the Bora Tuamotu Max pass, which seems like the best option, but I’d love advice on replacing it with one or more ferries.
What do you think? I’m struggling to finalize my itinerary.
