Booking issue with domestic flights on Lion Air

Hi Community,

I'm having trouble booking a domestic flight from Jakarta to Tual for September on Lion Air's website. The site keeps glitching. When I use a comparison site, the flight shows up just fine. I'd prefer to book directly on their site rather than through a comparator. Is anyone else running into this issue right now?

Thanks!!!!

Hi,

Tual

Couldn’t find it on Google, Google Earth (except near Rennes), or any flight search sites—are you sure about the name? Is it the city or the airport?

"Tual" appears on the Lion Air website but with the IATA code "LUV," which corresponds to the airport in the town of Langgur in the Kai Islands of Southeast Maluku. For all airlines combined, I can't find any direct flights from Jakarta to Langgur—every option involves 1 to 3 connections. It’s pretty common for the Lion Air site to glitch.

Thanks, Thierry, for your help. I’ve already searched using the IATA code LUV (depending on the site, it’s either Langgur or Tual), and sure enough, there’s no direct flight, but there are connecting flights with just one airline: Lion Air. I’ll keep trying regularly, hoping the site will be up and running.

Good evening,

According to a credible aviation site, this LUV airport is only served from AMQ Ambon by two airlines: Lion Air and Wings Air.

Thanks Michel! I did see there’s no direct flight. The flight we chose goes CGK / AMQ AMQ/LUV with Lion Air, 10:00 PM / 10:55 AM. My main question was about how Lion’s website seems to be glitching. I’ll check Wings Air instead. Have a great evening!

Hi, I’m jumping in a bit late to help out. With a VPN in Asia, everything works smoothly—I often run into this issue when making bookings. For example, you can download Opera (the browser); the VPN is free. Keep us posted.

hi Coolinette, we’re having the same problem trying to book a flight between Ende and Waingapu (between Flores and Sumba); the site’s glitching too. How did you finally manage to book? Did you go through an intermediary? We saw that Booking.com offers it, but we need to book with luggage, which Booking.com doesn’t do. Thanks!

Hi, It’s common for Lion Air and Wings Air (two sister airlines) websites to glitch. Another possible reason is that some Indonesian airlines don’t like foreign credit card payments—a long-standing issue—and their site might crash as soon as a non-Indonesian IP appears. In your case, there could be another possible reason: there’s no direct flight from Ende to Waingapu. More broadly, there are no direct flights from any of Flores’ 6 airports to either of Sumba’s airports (Waingapu and Tambolaka). From Ende to Waingapu, you’ll need to connect in Kupang. This site https://www.tiket.com/en-us/pesawat?currency=EUR will make buying your tickets easier. You enter the departure city, final destination, date, and it shows all flight options, including connections. I did a simulation for early July 2026, and the only daily option is Ende-Kupang, then Kupang-Waingapu, with a total travel time of 3h35 (including a 1h20 layover in Kupang) for 157 €.

thanks Songsam, yeah we saw the flight wasn’t direct—no choice, it’s fine. So we’ll go through an intermediary. I emailed the airline, you never know ;)

hi there I’ve been using the Traveloka app for years for all domestic flights, no matter the airline, and it works really well. Traveloka also has a classic website version, and it’s by far the most popular booking platform in Indonesia—they even have big billboards in the airports. Until recently, you could even check in through Traveloka, but lately, Lion Air has been pushing us to use their own app: Book Cabin. Last time (earlier this month), I had to download it to check in because nothing worked—neither on Traveloka nor on the Lion Air website. Lion Air and Wings Air are the same company: Lion for the big planes, Wings for the small ones. Loic
