Je viens faire part de mon retour sur St. barth. Au début du forum on a pu apercevoir mon premier message écrit il y a 3 ans juste avant de partir à St. Barth! C'est marrant car je peux désormais faire partager mon expérience. Je ne parlais pas anglais et n avais jamais travaillé dans la restauration et résultat ce ne fut pas un problème, je suis partie en décembre 2007, j ai trouvé du boulot Tres facilement et il est vrai qu il vaut mieux être sur place pour postuler car on te demande souvent de te présenter rapidement, sinon pour l anglais Ca a été avec mon niveau scolaire au début et puis on s améliore vite car on pratique souvent ! St. Barth c est purement génial j ai fait de supers rencontres, j étais partie pour 6mois j y suis restée trois ans bref si vous voulez plus d' infos d' adresses ou de contacts envoyez moi un message sinon pour le garçon qui est Charpentier, je peux lui conseiller d' aller voir la société Saline Charpentes les patrons sont M et Mme Chassary ils peuvent peut être te proposer un emploi, voilà pour ce bref retour je pourrai en parler toute la nuit mais la j ai pas le temps allez bon vent à tous !

avant de partir pour st barth j etais tombee sur ces articles qui peuvent etre d une aide precieuse quand on ne sait pas à quoi s attendre...je suis à st barth depuis 1 mois seulement et j en profite que ce soit frais pour vous donner un max d infos
Tout d abord tout ce qu on dit sur les logements est vrai...certains postes sont loges mais c'est loin d etre le grand luxe donc envisagerz que vous devrez peut etre chercher autre chose. Les prix sont variables mais en general si vous pensez venir en couple et avoir votre appart comptez 1200€...de plus en plus louent des villas à plusieurs...en ce qui conscerne les logements il n y a pas vraiment de regle mais ca reste le probleme majeur quand on arrive
Autre chose importante quans on arrive c 'est trouver un moyen de locomotion. Pas de bus, le taxi est cher, le stop fonctionne tres bien et est particulierement sure ici mais on ne peut pas vraiment compter uniquement sur ca. Et marcher n est pas vraiment realiste vus le relief (tres escarpé) et les températures. Pusieurs options donc : le scooter (comptez entre 800 et 1200€ en moy) la voiture (2000€ à peu pres) ou encore le quad... vous pouvez aussi louer une voiture ou un scooter (barthloc à gustavia est le moins cher à l heure actuelle...500€ le mois à peu pres). Dans le cas où vous achetez n oubliez pas qu il faut payer l assurance du vehicule (souvent ils vous demanderont de payer 1 an et vous vous faites rembourser la difference si vous partez avant) et evidemment la carte grise (important à savoir quand on prevoit son budjet). Et de la meme maniere il est tres facile de trouver un acheteur quand on part.
Dans la serie "infos que j aurais aimé avoir en arrivant" sachez que "le News" est le journal de l ile et parait tous les jours. Ca reste LE meilleur moyen de trouver un logement, job, vehicule...et de savoir tout ce qui se passe sur l ile.
Dernier conseil...venez en vous disant que l installation est un peu galere, les gens ici sont agreables mais ne sont pas vraiment aidants, ne vous attendez pas à ce qu on vaus prenne par la main et vous explique le BAba. Preparez vous à avoir à vous debrouiller tout seul ( C'est aussi vrai dans le travail) et une fois qu on a trouvé ses marques c'est vraiment en endroit genial, la vie y est douce et on a vraiment la possibilité de gagner un max que ce soit pour une saison(les americains sont tres genereux sur les pourboires) où s y installer (les promotions sont rapides si vous decidez de rester.

C'est top que à ton tour tu ai fait parvenir toutes ces infos (car les forum datent un peu et du coup pas facile d'avoir des réponse actuelles). Mon ami travail dans la restauration et moi je suis fleuriste. et on galère un peu à trouver un job surtout que notre niveau d'anglais est scolaire (donc on avaient un peu peur) mais ce que tu met est rassurant. aurait tu quelques bon plan ou adresse de resto qui recherche (où à tu bosser toi?)? bon on voulait pas partir avant d'avoir trouver un job mais je vois que c'est très compliqué (car un peu peur de tout quitter sans savoir ce qui nous attend là bas..) bon après l'avantage c'est que j'ai un cousin là bas (qui boss ds un 5étoile mais du coup l'anglais est exigé...:-(. donc je pourrais avoir un hébergement provisoire.

Pour le travail il ne faut pas avoir peur de postuler partout sur l ile (ce qui est plutot rapide dans la mesure où tu en fais le tour en moins d une heure)
dans un premier temps et surtout si votre anglais est tres restreint je vous conseille vraiment de postuler partout et de prendre ce qui vient meme si ce n est pas dans votre domaine d activité...ensuite les rencontres feront (normalement) le reste. Demandez autour de vous quand vous rencontrez des gens qui sont ici depuis plus longtemps et laissez vous porter!
Pour l anglais je vous conseille quand meme de vous y mettre....les dvd en vost tous les jours...vo sans les st quand vous connaissez deja le film.. et ca vient plus vite qu on le croit.
en gros il suffit de se lancer, les debuts peuvent vraiment etre dures parfois mais une fois qu on est installé la vie est belle!

si des personnes ont besoin d informations pour partir vivre et bosser en saison a st barth aux antilles ou tout symplement y aller en vacances, n hésitez pas a me poser des questions. J ai fait deux saisons dos a dos en hotellerie de luxe la-bas, plein de boulot pas trop de logement donc le conseil ultime surtout pour la premiere saison c est etre loge (mal loge certes mais loge par un hotel) puis trouver des colloc sympa; la saison d hivers etant super, la saison ete etant plutot calme rien a voir avec le feu des fetes de fins d annee et du carnaval!
Le soleil toute l annee, la mer azur, le fun tout les soirs la fete on se connait tous sur une ile dé 25 km carre, un bronzage eclatant, des sports nautiques si vous savez vous debrouiller gratos ski nauique, bateau, plongee etc bref un paradis mais il faut quand meme garder les pieds sur terre et connecte avec la realite, beaucoup perdent pieds, pas moi mais c est super agreable!! du coup je pense entrer au club med!! pour decouvrir aussi d autres lieux magiques!!😉

If anyone knows the rates charged by movers for a crate to French Polynesia, or what pitfalls to avoid (I know you can get quotes directly from movers, but I’d love insights from actual customers😉).
