Good evening Pascal,

Thank you for your kind comments!

You’re going to have a memorable stay in Ireland—I’m sure of it. And on a motorcycle, no less!

My partner and I each used to ride motorcycles. We did so for several years.

The most important thing during your stay in Ireland will be the weather, which I hope will be very favorable for you.

Have a great evening!

Anne

Hi Anne,

I regularly read your travel journals and I’m so grateful for them! I actually followed your Iceland one, which was super helpful and just perfect!!! (Iceland is amazing...)

If you can, I’d love to hear your thoughts on this Ireland trip, please: is it one of your favorites? What’s your takeaway from it?

We’re planning it for July 2019; the landscapes seem to always look the same, and we’re hesitant to finalize it.

Thanks so much for your reply :-) Isabelle

Hi Isabelle,

If you loved Iceland, you’d also enjoy Ireland because this country is packed with incredibly beautiful natural sites too.

If you like hiking through otherworldly landscapes, it’s the perfect spot—and the trails are well-marked!

If you prefer historical sites, there are plenty of those as well.

The country also has stunning beaches.

And if you enjoy going out, there’s no shortage of places to do so. The vibe is guaranteed!

Irish people are very welcoming. In fact, we were warmly received at all the accommodations we’d booked before our trip.

Yes, Ireland is one of our top favorites, just like many other countries we’ve visited. It’s actually hard to choose!

If I were you, I’d add Ireland to your "to-do list"—you won’t regret it.

Hi Anne,

My partner and I just got back from a motorcycle trip along the Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland. We left home on September 5th and returned on the 16th.

Apart from two solid days of rain (from when we got off the ferry until KILLARNEY and during our visit to the DINGLE peninsula), we had great weather. But we were well prepared with our rain suits.

We mostly rode the Wild Atlantic Way, starting from CORK and following the south and west coasts up to WESTPORT (north of Connemara).

We loved the varied landscapes, the courtesy and thoughtfulness of the Irish people. At every Airbnb we’d booked, we were welcomed warmly.

Our top picks were the Ring of Kerry (with the Gap of Dunloe) and Connemara.

We’re already thinking of going back (probably in 2020) to finish our tour of Ireland by visiting Donegal, Northern Ireland, and the east coast.

Thanks again for all your travel ideas and recommendations—they helped us have an amazing trip.

Best regards, Pascal

PS: In 2019, we’ll be doing a motorcycle road trip in Corsica (France).

Thank you so much, Anne, for your quick reply.

We’re also hesitating with Scotland; we thought about doing both, but it’s just not possible in 16 days...

From what you’re saying, this destination sounds perfect, and I think we’ll be there very soon! (Flights from Nice are super cheap—only 130 €...)

We’ll rent a camper or, like you, book accommodations or hotels depending on availability.

Best regards,

Isabelle 🙂

I really enjoyed reading about your trip to Ireland, but I’m going solo this time. Do you still have any contacts who might be interested in this trip I’ve already planned out pretty well? Thanks

Read your Ireland getaway but I’m now solo for this country. Did you keep any contacts interested in this trip I’ve already planned? Thanks

Hi Soiz,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I didn’t see your message before!

Unfortunately, I don’t have any contacts to suggest, and I imagine you’ve probably already taken your trip to Ireland.

Have a great weekend!

Traveling around Ireland by car is really the best option! 🚗 You can stop anywhere and fully enjoy the landscapes. My favorite spot is Connemara—it’s absolutely stunning there, truly magical. And since public transport isn’t always very practical in Ireland, a car is still the ideal way to explore the country.
