Gran Canaria... a trip that wasn't exactly thrilling

But what’s the issue?

There are gay places everywhere except in countries stuck in the Middle Ages.

Naked people—personally, I don’t see the problem.

Animals are all naked, and we don’t make a big deal out of it.

I still don’t get your point, but whatever.

I’m not getting any notifications anymore, so I’m late to the party 😉

Cape Verde, at least Santo Antão, is pretty mountainous But you also loved Brazil 😉

Alright, one last photo (on the road to Tejeda) to prove it wasn’t always sunny 😎

In 2021, the Canary Islands were my default choice—I’m repeating myself 😉—but I really liked Lanzarote and Gran Canaria. The latter only for the mountain area and the city of Las Palmas. Lanzarote’s landscapes reminded me of southern Morocco (it’s just across the way, after all).

Expectations, circumstances, weather conditions, interactions... so many factors that can completely change how you perceive a trip.

It was my first post-pandemic trip, the weather was gorgeous, there were few tourists, and prices were more than reasonable. Four factors that go a long way in making a trip successful. If I think about what I didn’t like... 😕 Yeah, the concrete sprawl in parts of Gran Canaria, the wild nightlife vibe in Maspalomas, and the crowd that comes with it. But that’s Spain for you! Between the Costa Brava and Andalusia, you’ve gotta know what you’re getting into 😉

It's true that with the cast shadows, the dunes take on a whole new look 😉.

The other 3 photos are from Lanzarote, right?

I think everyone who managed to travel in 2020 and 2021 has great memories of their trips for the reasons you mentioned.

Yes, including the one of the vines with that unique alignment. The low wall is built around each vine to protect it from the wind and retain moisture. It doesn’t rain often in the Canary Islands

Yeah, well, in Lanzarote over a week, we got the calima:

No, it’s not a black-and-white or sepia photo—there’s even a red dot 😉

... And the rain

Are we cursed in the Canary Islands? Come on, we had some nice days too 😎

After 2 weeks in the storm in Gran Canaria, the sun is back—now in Puglia 🙂

Hi, Thanks for sharing your travel journal. You didn’t have much luck—what a shame. Gran Canaria is the only Canary Island we haven’t visited "yet." But it won’t be long now. Best, Aline
