My TOP 3 countries visited

Hi everyone, I feel like I’ve been lucky enough over the past few years to travel—a lot of that’s thanks to retirement... (see my profile!) So, aside from my beautiful country, France, here’s my totally subjective top 3: 1 – Antarctica 2 – Greenland 3 – Yellowstone Park

Of course, this is just my opinion—human, architectural, cultural, and gastronomic treasures are everywhere on our unique planet, Earth. Have a great day, everyone!

If I understand correctly, we can treat you to some ice cream to make you happy [;)]

I’ll humbly respond since I don’t have that many countries under my belt.

1 Egypt 2 Thailand 3 Turkey

With deep regret for not having seen southern China or Rio’s bay...

But honestly, given all its wonders, Egypt should be in a league of its own.

Hence the total subjectivity, fully embraced, of this top 3. As for ice cream, we love it! 😊

Okay, if we're going full subjective, here's my little ranking—with some reasoning:

1/ Brazil A country I've traveled through twice for a month each time, and I'd never get tired of going back, both for its incredible diversity of landscapes and the kindness of its people.

2/ Namibia As much for the way you travel (4x4 and rooftop tent) as for the stunning beauty of the places.

3/ Myanmar My first "real" trip to Asia, at a time when hardly anyone was going. The Bagan plain at sunrise will forever be etched in my memory.

The advantage I have over you is that I'm not retired yet, so I still have some time left ;)

I could’ve added Egypt too, but back then I was still traveling "organized," so I’d do it differently now.

But we’re totally on the same page—France remains my first love ❤️

As you may have noticed, my top 3 is entirely focused on nature—it’s a deliberate choice for this post, but it doesn’t exclude all the other aspects of these countries, of course. And so, it’s impossible to create any kind of hierarchy in everyone’s top 3. Have a great day, and enjoy the rainy weather! !

Hi there,

For me: 1: New Zealand, especially the South Island 2: Chile with all its diverse landscapes. From the Atacama Desert in the north, through the central part of the country, down to Patagonia, and all the way to Tierra del Fuego 3: Tanzania, between Kilimanjaro, the savanna with its safaris, and the beaches of Zanzibar.

I completely agree with your thoughts on France. Every year I visit a new department—this year it’s Isère. I have a map of France where I scratch off the departments I’ve visited. Still quite a few left!

Other countries:

Israel for its history and culture Egypt for its history and culture Germany, especially the city of Münster

Only 3 countries? It's so hard to choose!

First, South Africa for its wildlife, the variety of landscapes, and those vast empty spaces.

Second, I’d say Mexico for its colonial cities, pre-Columbian ruins, volcanoes, and a certain way of life.

Third, I’m really torn! Egypt for its glorious pharaonic past or India, such a fascinating country? India in the end—Egypt is a tad too one-track for me...

Egypt often tops the list. So many beautiful things to see... I last went there over 20 years ago, alone and without a cruise. One of my most beautiful trips. But I can’t answer the question. Maybe I’ve been a bit too spoiled by the chance to travel so much. I simply can’t pick just 3 countries. Instead of countries, it’s the natural spots with that "wow" effect, cities, people...

Wow Effect, in no particular order: Epupa Falls in Namibia and the Namib Desert Mt. Kenya, the Tigray region in Ethiopia Wadi Rum The White Desert in Egypt Polynesia The Bungle Bungles and François Perron in Western Australia The Bacuit Archipelago in the Philippines Central Tibet Mustang in Nepal The high peaks of Nepal Ladakh The Guilin region in China, Sichuan, the Karakoram The Dalmatian Coast in Croatia The Mont Blanc region The Crozon Peninsula Utah and its red rocks, especially Coyote Buttes Yellowstone The Cordillera Blanca The Altiplano and the Uyuni Desert Iguazu Falls Patagonia, especially Torres del Paine

A concentration of stunning landscapes in small countries like Montenegro and New Zealand. Nothing ugly there!

The architecture in Europe is full of splendid cities, especially in France and Italy. I also love the colorful colonial cities of Mexico and Guatemala. The pagodas in Myanmar, the Buddhist monasteries Chinese architecture fascinates me...

Food! France, without a doubt. But also Italy and Thailand

Human connections People often say we see ourselves in others, but for me, Nepal wins the kindness award... We go back almost every year.

Have a great day, everyone, and happy travels! [:)]

Oh yeah, there’s something for every taste! But as long as my Mont Blanc is there 🧁

Hello

Two countries that really touched me and where I thought, "I’ll be back" (which is rare for me when it comes to faraway places): Uganda, no doubt partly thanks to our guide (I’m surprised to say that myself ): diverse wildlife and landscapes, welcoming locals, and not too many tourists. Myanmar: the atmosphere in Bagan remains unforgettable for me (among other things). And finally, Greece for its mix of ancient ruins, small villages, and beautiful landscapes. Plus, it’s a hassle-free destination where we always managed to find quiet spots.

Not easy, I’d rather do a top 5! ;)

Southern Lipez in Bolivia - Incredible landscapes! We had the nerve to rent a 4x4 to visit this stunning desert with its many lagoons and volcanoes without a guide/driver for two weeks. Our nights in the 4x4, especially in the middle of the Salar de Uyuni. The climb up Tunupa Volcano (5,000m), no guide, just the two of us.

Namibia - Beautiful landscapes, wildlife, hikes, and nights in a tent on the 4x4. The Milky Way, the kindness of the people, and some great encounters.

Peru - The diversity of landscapes, high-mountain treks, Inca sites, and the food.

The USA - The national parks in the West, a big crush on Yellowstone with its many geysers, bison, bears, grizzlies, and especially the wolves. Grand Prismatic with its amazing colors.

Uganda - The people, the buzz in the villages and along the roads, the gorillas, the many monkeys, and other wildlife.
